While Schneider is best known for his role as Bo Duke on The Dukes of Hazzard, Sorvino made her mark as a celebrated actress and producer. Together, they represent a love story that’s both heartwarming and inspiring.
Who Is John Schneider?
If you've ever watched The Dukes of Hazzard, you'd instantly recognize John Schneider. With his charismatic smile and unmistakable Southern charm, Schneider became a household name as Bo Duke, one of the show's main characters. But John’s career extends far beyond playing the Duke brother.

"Nie Mingjue would still have died young even if Jin Guangyao hadn't killed him" Not as in "So it's fine to kill him because people who won't live for much longer have obviously already forfeit their lives" (what) But as in "If you don't get that Nie Mingjue has had an inevitable young and violent death hanging over him since he was a young teenager and has embraced it you can't fully understand his character"
#mdzs#nie mingjue#i do not wish to be misconstrued on this#because the first interpretation might genuinely be my least favorite nmj take#because it has so much baggage in regards to the actual real life murder of disabled people. most often by their caretakers!!#and the reaction to it from public the media and the justice system is overwhelmingly 'oh well that wasn't a life worth living anyway'#'plus they were SO hard to take care of rlly if you think about it the murderer is the victim here that must've been so hard for them'#and these characters aren't real. nmj isn't actually dead he was never alive. but i really hope that take is no one's actual view on life#but from a purely story-perspective i also hate the 'everything would've been fine if not for jiggy' takes#STOP MAKING THE BLORBO UNINTERESTING BY OUTSOURCING ALL HIS ISSUES!! THOSE ARE /HIS/ LET HIM KEEP THEM

not to have the centrist opinion that pisses everyone off but i think it is both true that people are way too mean to chappell roan (and have been for a while before any of the recent ~controversy~) and also her infamous voting take was phrased rather badly (yes she did make it sounds like she was bothsidesing even if that’s not what she meant! she has a very vulnerable fanbase who will be directly affected by this election and are invested in the results!) and she should have just taken the L and not continued to engage and tiktok thru it. i think it is fair that she pulled out of the festival for mental health reasons and she should be allowed to do that but also i am not going to lie and say i wouldn’t be peeved if i was one of the people who dropped a lot of money on it to see her.
#d#like multiple things are true and the public/media have had proportionate reactions to exactly none of them#but also the headlines have been framing the festival thing as directly caused by the election comment#and i don’t think it’s just that lol it’s been a bumpy ride for a while it seems

idc what anyone says, but jason todd would get himself legally resurrected (because as much as he hates it he kinda needs a legal identity sometimes) and not tell anyone about it, because the last thing he wants is to deal with the publicity of being bruce wayne’s adopted son again (he dealt with it before his death and hated it so much so being perceived as dead by the public was probably great for him).
jokes on him though, because barbara found out about it and told the rest of the batfam, and now he has no excuse to get out of anything.

there’s all those “light-hearted” or “uplifting” videos of people recording strangers trying to get them to do random on the street interactions (examples I’ve seen include throwing a basketball at people encouraging them to make a basket with a basketball goal that a group of people carry around, and another one is someone rolling out a red carpet for people to walk on) and you’ll see the creator include clips of people rejecting these interactions and some viewers are like “people just can’t have fun” and it’s like we live in a world where people are always recording others and sometimes for nefarious reasons like making fun of people just minding their business and yeah these are supposed to be uplifting and fun videos but not everyone wants to be recorded and I know that I’m the type of person to feel like people are actually trying to make fun of me or don’t have good intentions when doing such things
#it’s like videos where people give random compliments as well and the recipients have negative reactions like you’re making content out of#These people and they really probably don’t trust your intentions.#like I studied media and when it comes to on the street stuff it’s always been emphasized to get written or verbal consent (and the verbal#Consent is recorded so there’s material evidence of the consent) obviously for a 60 second YouTube or tiktok video you’re not going to see#that evidence but idk it just rubs me wrong seeing these people who decline to partake in the activities are still in the videos#obviously in public places you can’t necessarily get everyone’s consent but I’m talking about the people being singled out in these vids

listen to me. are you listening? tiktok is not uniquely anything when it comes to the internet. it is a tool and a platform like any other, used by all kinds of people—by nearly every kind of person or entity to whom it is available, in fact! and while what the u.s. government is doing right now to force the ownership of the company to change hands is bad and happening for the wrong reasons, to put it mildly—
claiming that the u.s. establishment is interested in shutting down tiktok because its been sooooo good and revolutionary for progressive/left-wing organizing is uhh. horse shit. that's not true. everyone uses tiktok. you, statistically, probably use tiktok. so do some of the congresspeople endorsing legislation that might end in tiktok being banned. so do right-wing influencers and terfs and trad-wives. just like everyone uses every other social media site.
don't fall into that trap of thinking that just because you and the people in your circle use this tool for good, that this tool is only used for good. it is actually just a tool for everyone!
here's an excerpt from a book called, The Wires of War, by Jacob Helberg which, if you're interested in why the u.s. congress is actually pulling this shit with tiktok, is a great read. this excerpt follows a section where Helberg described the role social media played in the Arab Spring in 2011. emphasis mine.
It would be several years before the 2016 election awakened the West to the ways in which the Internet could exploit the vulnerabilities of their societies. But for the autocrats in Bejing, Moscow, and Tehran, the Arab Spring was a technological awakening of their own. Seeing other repressive governments around the world crumble, illiberal regimes in Russia and China accelerated their treatment of the information space as a domain of war. "Tech-illiterate bureaucrats were replaced by a new generation of enforcers who understood the internet almost as well as the protesters," write Singer and Brooking in their book, LikeWar: The Weaponization of Social Media. "In truth, democratic activists had no special claim to the internet. They'd simply gotten there first. "
#tiktok ban#social media#idk man#maybe im too invested in personal privacy to have the same#visceral reaction#to the tiktok stuff that a lot of other people are having#do i think the current tiktok ban (for lack of a more concise phrase) is good?#no. lol#but frankly there's a lot of regulation of social media i'd like to see written and passed#that would probably write tiktok and most every other social media site#out of existence#starting with banning infinite scroll and other addictive user interface details#and ending with banning content suggestion algorithms altogether#or at least making them entirely fucking public#which would amount to the same thing for all these tech companies

whenever my sister sends another one of her 2-5 minute long audio note messages or someone shares a tiktok/reel in the group chat
#my sister always sends these stupid long rambling messages where she hasn't bothered to really think of what she wants to say#so it's just 3 minutes of her thought process/reaction to a text#a lot of ''i don't know what you mean. unless you're referring to x. in which case i think we should all agree to y. or maybe you meant z?'#with a lot of drawn out pauses and sounds of her turn signal or her rustling with a bag of chips or something in the background#like literal stream-of-consciousness voice memos rather than an actual response to a joke or something.#and i can't quickly skim it and respond and it drags the conversation to a screeching halt if i'm in public or at work#because i'm not going to try to listen to that unfiltered nonsense or strain my ears to hear wtf she's saying#also the tiktoks and reels. jfc. everyone in my family is Too Invested in that shit. i don't have time to watch all of that#i hate the shift towards video/audio format in social media!!!!#my phone should only make noise when i'm listening to music or calling someone. that's it. that's all#personal

Talking about and destigmatizing mental illness is not the same thing as giving away sensitive information about your mental health that other people could use against you, and anyone who tries to convince you otherwise is sus af. If anything, advocating for mental health and self-care goes hand-in-hand with advocating for privacy on those exact same matters.
If someone is offended by you not listing off all your triggers and sensitive psychological information in a publicly accessible forum, or even just to them specifically when you prefer not to, ask yourself why.
#auntie kara made that mistake#it went badly#and before social media gets all social media about this#i'm not saying never talk about this stuff#we all have trusted people#hopefully we have therapists and medical professionals where the whole point is communicating with them#i mean like MAYBE#JUST MAYBE#don't be out here putting every diagnosis on your profile and listing off the specific things that trigger debilitating flashbacks#when we are sharing digital space with people who get their jollies by seeing how much of a reaction they can get out of a stranger#if you're safely able to be public about it and want to for educational or visibility purposes that's one thing#but it is not required of you and anyone who tells you it is is in a mood to mess with you

That post getting all nostalgic over how “don’t feed the trolls” used to be the norm online keeps popping up, and it’s not that it’s a terrible unreasonable post or totally bad advice or anything; but it drives me a little bonkers to see people acting like that phrase went out of fashion for no reason or because everyone just got cranky or whatever. “don’t feed the trolls” is good advice when you’re a member of a well-moderated forum trying to stay on topic and keep out of flame wars. it’s not useful if you’re the one who has to moderate everything, or if you’re dealing with swatters, doxxers, brigadiers & so on; because there’s no guarantee that ignoring online harassment will make it stop, or prevent things from getting worse.
#and the op of that post made a good point about algorithms not showing inflammatory content unless you bite the clickbait#and about there being other ways of managing what kinda content you see#but at the same time... is it not our human right to be cranky? to get worked up about stuff?#to comment on the absolute nonsense that we're seeing??#from time to time?#it's imo messed up that a lot of the big social media sites don't try harder to facilitate a social environment that's more like real life#instead of an every-body-for-themselves pvp-enabled public forum where eavesdropping is strongly encouraged#also. like. the whole concept of a troll was someone who wasn't truly sincere but just trying to get a reaction out of people#which imo went out of fashion because it became steadily more and more apparent that plenty of them were sincere.#anyway that's my little pseudo-rant.#internets#argumentation

The Emotional Impact of Hurricane Milton: A Meteorologist's Experience
My Experience with Hurricane Milton Just moments before I went live on October 7, the National Hurricane Center announced that Hurricane Milton had intensified into a devastating Category 5 storm. When I saw the barometric pressure readings reported by a hurricane hunter aircraft, I had to do a double take. The numbers were staggering. The anchor introduced me, and as I prepared to speak, I felt…
