"Twin City" Ambala, Haryana Tour
Additionally, Ambala is well-known for the sizeable presence of the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force within the cantonment area that was initially established there in the year 1843. This is one of the reasons why Ambala is so well-known. Since the cantonment is home to one of the three striking corps that make up the Indian Army, it is of the highest importance to India's overall military strategy. Because Ambala City and Ambala Cantonment are situated in close proximity to one another, the city is sometimes referred to as "Twin City." The distance between the two parts of the city is eight km. There are instances when people would refer to Ambala Cantonment as Ambala Cantt. The Ambala District is claimed to have been founded by Amba Rajput sometime around the 14th century AD. There is also the belief that the name originates from Amba Wala, which translates to "the village of mangoes," as a result of the abundance of mango farms in the region that is immediately around the community. This explanation has been proposed.
In addition, the dishes of Makki Ki Roti and Sarson Ka Saag, as well as Buttermilk (lassi), milk, and curd, each play a key role in the cuisine. Ambala is home to a number of mouthwatering and well-known regional specialties, including but not limited to Mal Pua, Kheer, Churma, Peda, Laddu, and Thandai, to name just a few.

Millions May Lose Unemployment Benefits This Month—How Likely Is Additional Aid?
New Post has been published on https://perfectirishgifts.com/millions-may-lose-unemployment-benefits-this-month-how-likely-is-additional-aid/
Millions May Lose Unemployment Benefits This Month—How Likely Is Additional Aid?
A record number of Americans have lost work since the coronavirus pandemic struck, and more than 20 million are still claiming unemployment benefits. For them, jobless aid can be critical, helping to cover the bills and other expenses while they look for work.
But millions are at risk of losing unemployment benefits soon. The Century Foundation estimates that as many as 12 million Americans will be cut off from jobless benefits on December 26. And more may exhaust their unemployment claims before then. What extended state benefits could be available for them? And could more federal aid be on the way?
Millions may stop getting unemployment checks at the end of this month.
Who’s at risk of losing unemployment benefits?
Americans who’ve been unemployed for several months are at the greatest risk of running out of unemployment benefits—and that number has grown sharply in recent months.
The number of Americans who’ve been unemployed for more than 26 weeks—the maximum duration of regular state unemployment benefits in most states—has climbed from 1.1 million people in February, pre-pandemic, to 3.9 million in November. Nearly four in 10 workers collecting unemployment benefits last month have been filing claims for at least 27 weeks, according to the Labor Department.
The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities’ chief economist Chad Stone notes that two-thirds of the Labor Department’s reported number of unemployment insurance recipients are now in temporary programs that were created by the CARES Act in March and that expire just after Christmas.
That includes those who have exhausted all of their regular state unemployment benefits and are eligible to get up to 13 weeks of federally funded Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation as well as those who have lost their jobs and don’t qualify for regular state benefits, but are getting federal benefits under the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program. That program was created by the CARES Act for those who have lost their jobs, or who are self-employed and have lost income, as a result of the pandemic and who aren’t normally eligible for regular unemployment benefits in their state (like gig workers, for example).
Why could Americans lose unemployment benefits in December?
The Century Foundation, an independent think tank, found that 4.6 million people will stop getting payments through the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) program. It projects another 7.3 million workers will lose their benefits as Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) winds down. Unless Congress acts to extend the two programs, they will expire at year’s end and pay out their last benefits the week ending December 26.
The Brookings Foundation just released estimates that were even higher. The nonprofit public policy organization projects approximately 9.5 million will lose unemployment compensation on December 26 due to PUA’s expiration. And about half-a-million will lose all access to benefits because of the PEUC’s expiration since they live in a state where extended benefits have also triggered off.
In addition, it says approximately 870,000 will lose unemployment compensation once they exhaust regular unemployment benefits because they live in a state where extended benefits have triggered off. About 680,000 will lose unemployment compensation once they exhaust extended benefits. And another 2.2 million will be at risk of losing unemployment compensation once they exhaust regular benefits because they live in a state where extended benefits are available now, but where those benefits are likely to trigger off within weeks.
Why are extended benefits unavailable in some states?
Displaced workers who lose those federal PEUC benefits this month may still have access to extended unemployment benefits. The problem is that extended benefits turn on or off in states depending on different economic triggers. The benefits are turned on when state-wide unemployment rates or the share of people collecting unemployment benefits meet certain thresholds. And some states don’t meet the threshold or have opted not to use one of the two triggers.
According to the nonprofit Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, which has analyzed state benefits, as of the end of November, the District of Columbia and 14 states offer up to 20 weeks of extended unemployment benefits in addition to 26 weeks of regular benefits (and the federal benefits through the CARES Act): Alaska, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island and Washington.
Another 17 states currently offer 26 weeks or regular benefits and up to 13 weeks of additional extended benefits: Arizona, Georgia, Hawaii, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Vermont, Virginia and West Virginia. The District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands offer the same.
South Carolina offers 20 weeks of regular unemployment and 10 weeks of extended benefits. North Carolina now provides 12 weeks of regular unemployment and six weeks of extended benefits.
But many other states do not currently offer extended benefits. That could be because their unemployment rates aren’t high enough to trigger them (the state’s 13-week average insured unemployment rate must be above 5 percent). Or it may be because they haven’t opted for the additional voluntary trigger, which provides for extended benefits when the total unemployment rate is above 6.5 percent and is at least 10 percent higher than either of the prior two years.
In addition, some states that have triggered extended benefits on now may no longer offer them after this month. Under the terms of the CARES Act, full federal funding for extended benefits will also expire on December 26, 2020. After that, the federal share will revert to 50 percent. With the end of full federal support for the extended benefits, some states may opt out of the optional trigger. Others may find their unemployment rates have dropped enough that they no longer meet the threshold.
The Century Foundation, an independent think tank, projects that only 17 states, and the District of Columbia will still have the extended benefits program in place at the end of December. The states are Alaska, California, Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Washington. That leaves many others without additional income support after the federal aid expires.
How likely is an extension of benefits this month?
Calls for additional federal aid have been growing. “With the economy still in a deep hole, policymakers face an imperative to enact a relief and stimulus package quickly to support the recovery and ensure that millions of unemployment insurance recipients don’t lose their benefits in the coming weeks,” wrote economist Chad Stone last week.
But how likely is it that benefits will be extended before this year ends?
Many remain hopeful that targeted legislation can still be passed by the end of this month to extend unemployment aid. In a recent report, Goldman Sachs GS , for example, said it expects Congress to pass a small fiscal package in December that could extend the expanded unemployment insurance benefits that are set to expire.
Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle, as well as members of the outgoing administration, are in agreement that more aid should be extended to those who’ve lost their income—including the possibility of another round of supplemental federal unemployment benefits in addition to the extension of federal programs.
On Friday, National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow said on CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street” that “we should provide some additional payouts for unemployment assistance.” He indicated his support for another round of supplemental federal unemployment benefits again, too, “upping [unemployment] assistance by, you know, let’s say $300 a week, extended out…I’m saying at least several months, maybe till the end of the first quarter.”
Kudlow indicated some progress in talks to provide additional aid to those who are out of work, saying “Talk is good and we may be moving forward.”
Democratic Speaker of the House, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, added more words of encouragement at her weekly press conference on Friday, saying “there is momentum” in talks.
Whether that will translate into passed legislation this month, though, remains to be seen.

Some notes about the Zootopia Verses for a few characters
Ma Tembo is the city’s mayor and deals with all the managerial issues that come with that. She formerly taught at St Loxodont’s High School in Savannah Central. She has a large extended family, and Chama and Mtoto are her grandsons.
Makuu is the head of the Crocodile Family and chief of the Rainforest District’s Police Department. In his youth he was a professional wrestler before moving onto the force. There have been some shady rumours about his first term as chief, though things seem to have recently smoothed over.
Mzingo is one of the best criminal defence lawyers there is. Head of the law firm known as Parliment, he has been hired by Scar on the down-low to get the hyenas out of trouble when they need it. He’s incredibly rich.
Chama was recently forced out of his Grandmother’s house after embarrassing her in public and threatening her campaign. She offers him support (however limited), and he lives with his friends in an apartment above Rafiki’s medical practice. They all have jobs at Big Springs Indoor Waterpark.
Pua recently retired as Chief of Rainforest District Police, after his nephew Makuu called for his resignation. He lives alone in a very lavish mansion upstate: his career was clean, but that’s not what his mountains of spare cash seems to suggest.

Traveler’s Guide to Japan (Low Budget!) – Part 4: Kanazawa-Shirakawago-Takayama
10 Januari 2018
Oh ya, sebenarnya saya sedikit menyesali keputusan saya membawa carrier.
Lalu perlahan salju mulai turun. That was my first indirect encounter with snow fall.
A series of unfortunate events occurred.
We got a little fight. Suasana berubah makin runyam. Yes, they do exist thank God.
Yes it was a snowfall (kali ini tanpa air!).
Waitressnya super duper helpful.
So I assumed that they had already become used to the cold weather.
What a view.
Kami segera menjelajahi isi desa.
Thanks to Randy for taking this super lovely candid (but not candid) picture of me playing with snow ^^
Bersambung…….

Located in Pua district about an hour north of Nan, Wang Sila Lang is a long stretch of dramatic river gorge on the Koon river. The best time to be there is during a dry season when the water is low enough to reveal the entire ravine.

Eight cyclists hurt as tour bus CRASHES in Thailand
Eight people were hurt, one seriously, when a tour bus carrying cyclists to Nan skidded into a mountain slope at a curve in #Thailand on Saturday.
The accident occurred on the Nan-Ban Luang-Bang Song Khaew Road in tambon Sanian late Saturday morning, said Charasphan Arunwong, head of the provincial disaster prevention and mitigation office. The bus, with Bangkok licence plates, was found lying on its side when police and rescue workers arrived at the scene. Driver Yutthapong Yangklang, 32, was badly hurt. Seven passengers sustained minor injuries. All were given first aid before being taken to Nan Hospital. A police investigation found that the tour bus, carrying 32 cyclists from Samut Prakan to Doi Phukha in Pua district, was using GPS to navigate. However, the system guided the bus to Ban Luang district. The driver turned around to head for Muang district, which would lead him to Pua district. While travelling alongside a mountainous slope, the bus suddenly developed brake failure at a sharp curve. The driver swerved right to stop the bus, which hit the slope. Police have advised visitors wanting to travel to Nan to ask for directions from local residents or consult relevant agencies about routes if they are unfamiliar with the area. - Bangkok Post – You can follow BangkokJack on Instagram, Twitter & Reddit.
