Zazu watched the car roll up to the building, tapping his foot irritably. He checked his watch. An hour late. They were a full hour late.

“And where have you been?” he badgered, as soon as Mufasa stepped outside. He hurried alongside him, half-pushing the massive animal into the building and towards the elevator.

“The Macaw-law brothers have been waiting on you for an hour! This does not reflect well on the company!”

Some notes about the Zootopia Verses for a few characters

Ma Tembo is the city’s mayor and deals with all the managerial issues that come with that. She formerly taught at St Loxodont’s High School in Savannah Central. She has a large extended family, and Chama and Mtoto are her grandsons.

Makuu is the head of the Crocodile Family and chief of the Rainforest District’s Police Department. In his youth he was a professional wrestler before moving onto the force. There have been some shady rumours about his first term as chief, though things seem to have recently smoothed over.

Mzingo is one of the best criminal defence lawyers there is. Head of the law firm known as Parliment, he has been hired by Scar on the down-low to get the hyenas out of trouble when they need it. He’s incredibly rich.

Chama was recently forced out of his Grandmother’s house after embarrassing her in public and threatening her campaign. She offers him support (however limited), and he lives with his friends in an apartment above Rafiki’s medical practice. They all have jobs at Big Springs Indoor Waterpark.

Pua recently retired as Chief of Rainforest District Police, after his nephew Makuu called for his resignation. He lives alone in a very lavish mansion upstate: his career was clean, but that’s not what his mountains of spare cash seems to suggest.

The mayor of the city sat behind her enormous desk with her hands clasped together. The windows at her back looked out over the city centre, and the noise of the traffic and shopping animals carried up into her silent office.

Waiting, she extended her trunk to adjust the mug on her desk. Lightly, Mayor Tembo dusted off her framed pictures: her father standing before their family home, her college graduation with Sarabi, and her two grandsons Chama and Mtoto. With her hand she drew her diary in: yes, he should be here any minute now.

As if on cue, a buzz came in from her secretary, a little oxpecker. “He’s here Mayor Tembo.”

She placed one huge finger on the buzzer. “Thank you Mwenzi, send him in.”

The elephant stood up, pushing her chair out as her guest entered, and she extended her hand warmly. She knew Scar’s sister-in-law and brother well, but never had many dealings with the deputy CEO himself.

“Good morning, it’s a pleasure to see you Scar.”

“Hey! Come on in, I’ll get you a drink.” (Zootopia Christmas party?)

“Just a minute, sir.”

Zazu had been standing on the balcony of the top floor, having broken off from the main party inside for some fresh air. He was swirling an empty wine glass in one wing and looking out over the lights of the city, but he turned around when his boss had evidently come out to check on him.

“I do love standing outside of a busy party. Quite an inexplicably melancholy feeling, don’t you think?”

/Completely inconsequential fact but Zazu’s downstairs neighbours in Zootopia are Scuttle the seagull from the Little Mermaid and Nigel the pelican from Finding Nemo
