Tea Online: A Guide to Exploring and Enjoying Your Favorite Brews
In recent years, purchasing tea online has become a popular trend, transforming how enthusiasts and casual drinkers discover and enjoy this timeless beverage. With countless varieties available, from classic black and green teas to herbal infusions and exotic blends, online shopping provides an unparalleled opportunity to explore the world of tea. In this blog, we will delve into the benefits of buying tea online, explore different types of tea, share tips for selecting the best products, and provide insights into how to brew the perfect cup at home.
The Advantages of Buying Tea Online
Purchasing tea online comes with several unique benefits that cater to tea lovers everywhere:
1. Extensive Selection
One of the most significant advantages of buying tea online is the sheer variety available. Unlike local stores, which may have limited options, online retailers often provide an extensive selection of teas from different regions and types. You can easily discover new flavors and blends that may not be available in your area.
2. Quality Assurance
Reputable online tea sellers usually prioritize quality, sourcing their products directly from farmers or trusted suppliers. Many provide detailed information about the origins, processing methods, and flavor profiles of their teas, allowing you to make informed choices and select high-quality options that suit your preferences.
3. Convenience
Shopping for tea online is incredibly convenient. You can browse and order your favorite blends from the comfort of your home, saving time and effort. Many retailers offer subscription services, ensuring you never run out of your favorite teas while often providing discounts for recurring orders.
4. Customer Reviews and Recommendations
Online shopping platforms allow you to read customer reviews, which can be invaluable when trying to decide which tea to purchase. You can learn about the experiences of other tea lovers, helping you find the best products based on their feedback.
Types of Tea Available Online
To fully appreciate the diversity of tea, it's essential to understand the different types available. Here’s a breakdown of the primary categories of tea you can find online:
1. Black Tea
Black tea is one of the most popular types of tea worldwide. It is fully oxidized, resulting in a bold flavor and dark color. Common varieties include Assam, Darjeeling, and Earl Grey. Black tea is often enjoyed with milk and sugar but can also be appreciated on its own.
2. Green Tea
Green tea is known for its delicate flavor and numerous health benefits. It is minimally processed and retains its natural green color. Popular varieties include Sencha, Matcha, and Dragon Well. Green tea is often enjoyed plain but can be enhanced with lemon or honey.
3. Oolong Tea
Oolong tea falls somewhere between black and green tea, as it is partially oxidized. This unique processing method gives it a complex flavor profile, ranging from floral to fruity. Well-known varieties include Tie Guan Yin and Da Hong Pao.
4. White Tea
White tea is the least processed of all tea types, made from young tea leaves and buds. It has a light, subtle flavor and is rich in antioxidants. Silver Needle and White Peony are popular varieties.
5. Herbal Tea
Technically not a tea since it doesn’t come from the Camellia sinensis plant, herbal tea is made from various herbs, spices, and flowers. Herbal teas come in countless varieties and can offer a range of flavors and health benefits. Popular options include chamomile, peppermint, and hibiscus.
Tips for Buying Tea Online
When purchasing tea online, consider the following tips to enhance your shopping experience:
1. Read Product Descriptions Carefully
Take the time to read the product descriptions on the retailer's website. Look for information about the tea's origin, flavor notes, and brewing instructions. This will help you choose the best tea for your taste preferences.
2. Check for Freshness
Quality tea should be fresh. Look for retailers that provide harvest dates or packaging dates to ensure you’re buying tea that hasn’t been sitting on the shelf for too long.
3. Explore Sample Packs
If you’re unsure which tea to choose, consider purchasing sample packs. Many online retailers offer curated selections that allow you to taste different teas without committing to a full-sized package.
4. Buy Premium Tea Online with Backyard Brew
If you’re looking for high-quality tea, buy premium tea online with Backyard Brew. Our selection features a variety of teas sourced from reputable suppliers, ensuring you receive the best quality for your tea-drinking experience.
Brewing the Perfect Cup of Tea
Once you’ve selected your tea, it’s time to brew the perfect cup! The brewing method can greatly influence the flavor and aroma of your tea. Here are some essential tips for brewing various types of tea:
1. Use Fresh Water
Always start with fresh, cold water. The quality of the water you use will affect the final taste of your tea. Avoid using water that has been previously boiled, as it can lose oxygen, resulting in flat-tasting tea.
2. Measure the Tea
Using the right amount of tea leaves is crucial for achieving the perfect flavor. Generally, one teaspoon of loose leaf tea per cup (8 oz) of water is a good guideline, but this can vary based on the type of tea and personal preference.
3. Monitor Water Temperature
Different types of tea require different brewing temperatures:
Black Tea: 200-212°F (93-100°C)
Green Tea: 160-180°F (70-82°C)
Oolong Tea: 180-200°F (82-93°C)
White Tea: 160-185°F (70-85°C)
Herbal Tea: 200-212°F (93-100°C)
Using the correct temperature will help you extract the best flavors from your tea leaves.
4. Brewing Time
Brewing time is essential for achieving the desired flavor:
Black Tea: 3-5 minutes
Green Tea: 2-3 minutes
Oolong Tea: 4-7 minutes
White Tea: 4-5 minutes
Herbal Tea: 5-7 minutes
Keep an eye on the clock to avoid over-steeping, which can lead to bitterness.
Conclusion
Buying tea online has revolutionized the way we discover and enjoy this beloved beverage. With access to an extensive selection, the ability to read reviews, and the convenience of delivery, tea enthusiasts can explore new flavors and blends with ease. By understanding the different types of tea, following our tips for purchasing, and mastering the brewing process, you can elevate your tea experience to new heights.

maybe hua cheng needs to be flirting/otherwise posturing with romantic intent to seem in-character since that's like all he did in canon. mu qing/hua cheng fling perhaps??? kys (sexily) might work
KJAHDSKLJHLKJASDHFKAJDSH THAT'S WHAT IT'S COMING TO ANON....... u have earned a special sneak peek. tell me if this is what u had in mind
this is what happens when author (me) is too used to only writing a certain type of dynamic.
and another one but it's a lil more spoilery and possibly super OOC (working on it day and night!!!!!!) below. again, NOT FINAL:
so for context: hua/lian are having a minor disagreement, which mq doesn't know (but I DO bc i'm author-god rn. xl is worried that hc gives in to everything and has no boundaries [aside from "gege if you hurt yourself i'll be mad"] while hc thinks xl is getting tired of him.) overall an easily solvable and mildly silly problem BUT i'm including it in the first place bc i remember how other ppl have said that they have no conflict. now, in tg/cf that might be true due to narrator (xl) bias + honeymoon phase, but since I HAVE THE REINS i can add a lil bit bc i think even the perfect relationship has a bad day.
anyway, mq gets the vague sense that smth is wrong so here goes
pictured: guy who should take his own advice butts into someone else's business. would it be too much if i make hc say "fuck off, virgin" yes or no guys
#hewwo#asks#anonymous#honest opinions needed is it too OOC?#and YES I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TEA THEY'RE DRINKING HASHTAG TEAHEADDDDDD#CAN SOMEONE FUCKINGGGG BUY ME YUNNAN PU'ERH PLEASE I AM ON MY HANDS AND KNEEEEES#postcanon

Noooo. Orange pekoe is called such because when the Dutch East India Company brought black tea back to Europe, the best of it was given to the Dutch royal family, who happened to be from the House of Orange. So when it was made available to the public, it was called "Orange" pekoe so you knew it was the stuff that used to be only for royalty. It has nothing to do with fruit.
This tea is either Mandarin or Tangerine Pu'erh, which is named for the obvious reason. Packing it in the tangerine/orange skins infuses the tea with its flavour. Other teas also contain/are infused with citrus flavours as well, most famously Tea, Earl Grey, Hot. Earl Grey (another tea named after the upper crust who drank it first) contains bergamot, which is a weird little wrinkly green citrus fruit, and that's why it smells and tastes so absolutely divine.

I really need to get a draining tea tray but alas they cost money so Roger got his first tea bath in a bowl instead. The little man has been Doused. Anyway if anybody wants to get me a tea tray with drainage for my birthday so Roger can take proper baths and my raw pu'erh isn't cold, I'll throw together an Amazon list or something.
#roger the tea pet#my tea was cold cuz I couldn't preheat the teacup and this tea only steeps at 170° so the cold teacup cooled it down#a tray with drainage would let me preheat the teapot and teacup so this doesn't happen to me#I tried using a bowl for this but 😰 it did not go well#the joys of tea

[You find a letter on your desk, surrounded by tiny water puddles but suspiciously dry. The envelope is a soft blue, sturdy parchment, inscribed in silver ink.
Opening it reveals an invitation penned in the same silver, and a small packet of tea leaves.]
I, Empress Mizuki, address the esteemed Chaos Director.
Enclosed you shall find a sample of Pu'erh tea, taken from my personal collection for your enjoyment. You are hereby invited to take tea with the Empress on the scenic island at the center of Lazy Lake.
I am aware that you are quite busy, especially with recent events, but it is my hope that you will be able to find the time in your schedule. Should you find yourself available, please respond with a letter thrown to the nearest body of water. I assure you it will find me.
I hope our meeting will be mutually beneficial and enjoyable.
Cordially,
@empress-mizuki
(Dizzy took a seat at her desk, they leaned back in their chair and took off their mask before folding one leg over the other. She tapped her sludge like nails on the desk as she stared down at the letter placed up on their desk.)
(Who would dare send her a letter at a time like this,, no.. not a time, a crisis. Though Dizzy paused upon seeing the soft blue hue of the envelope,, and how thoughtfully it was put together.
Without a second thought they opened the envelope and quietly read it to themselves.)
Hm,, how cute.. an empress wishes to have tea with me? Mmn,,
(Dizzy unfolded her legs and stood up to find a suitable piece of paper,, pen and envelope. Upon finding the necessary items they wrote back.)
Dear, Empress Mizuki.
To whomever do I owe the honor? I wouldn't dare reject such a formal request, however it is true I've been busy with the recent events and.. my crew being rather,, interesting. I'd love to have a chat over tea with you and I'd love to hear what you have to say. If you ever need anything feel free to contact me at your nearest convenience.
I'll await a response, we can't enjoy tea without discussing a date now can we? Don't keep me waiting on the edge of my seat for too long.
~ The Director, though you can call me Dizzy.
(After placing the note into the envelope and sealing it, Dizzy stood up once more; though this time she found herself standing at the shore of a nearby body of water.. though they weren't sure if it could even be considered a shore. Dizzy carefully placed the envelope in the water and watched it float off with an unwavering gaze, though eventually she walked back off to her agency; she was a busy woman after all.)

w takim razie; witkacy: what is your favourite intoxicant ?
vanilla answer but if im completely honest and if we are counting everything witkacy noted on his paintings as possible intoxicating factor then it's. tea. any tea thats not rooibos or pu'erh or earl gray. top 3 at the moment hmmm pukka three licorice, piag tea super girl, palais des thés le thé merveilleux. and plain old black tea with lemon and sugar/honey, and maybe some rose petal confiture added in for extra flavor
when it comes to alcohol im partial to anything mulled: wine, beer, cider.... make that shit hot and sweet and spicy and citrusy 👏👏

Hello there, dear Jervis (and company! If you aren't alone at this moment)
I just wonder, what is your favourite kind of tea to drink?
"My favorite type of tea? Too many possibiliteas!" Jervis joked a little before there was a silent as he sipped his tea cup "that being said I-" he paused trying to process the taste in his mouth "At this point it's purely a ritual to make...but I usually favor Pu'erh type teas." "I forget if the tea I made is using green or black tea leaves, give me a second--" he said but with inspecting it with a fast flick of the wrist, he accidentally spilled it all on the table. Not initially processing the mistake he held that static smile as he stared at the mess. Then the mistake clicked in his mind.
"Black. Black tea leaves. I think."

Curiouser and curiouser, indeed. To see around the bend only to find similar on the other side, but not quite. I suppose this is a reminder that such a fate can happen to anyone... you just have to shift the angle just right. Anyway, attached to this letter is a caramel toffee pu'erh tea bundle.
Nothing else, nothing more, I assure you.

Cheers and best wishes, The Mad Hatter.
Oh, to find likeminded people so. This encounter, I wish it wouldn’t go. Although Time has chosen to finally go past, I hope the remnants of our chat forever lasts.
Thank you for the tea. This may be my new favorite, but I’ll have to go and see.
Farewell, fellow Hatter. I suppose we both must attend to other matters.

I'm trying Not to cause discourse about your tea poll and am asking these out of genuine curiosity. why did you specify jasmine and not just use "green tea" instead? also why not have "flower herbal" "fruity herbal" and "other herbal" or something similar? if you chose the options based on your favorites or what you had on hand though that would make sense
Imma be honest I put jasmine on there because I was drinking green jasmine and went "ougahhhghhg I love jasmine so much. I should make a poll out of this". I agree that I should've put green tea on there but unfortunately you can't edit polls. I might do another tea poll that's much more general and consistent (just green, black, white, herbal, oolong, rooibos, and maybe pu'erh) because I agree that the options I picked here weren't ideal

Quick tell me a small joy from your day!I'll go first. Two days ago I learned a tea company I buy from has raw pu'erh tea which is harder to find here and the tea got here today (perks of living two shipping days away from multiple tea companies) and it was very nice.
