Psoriasis Triggers and How to Stop it From Spreading
Psoriasis is a skin condition characterized by rash patches that are itchy and scaly. While it can appear on just about any part of the body, it is most common on the knees, elbows, and scalp.
The Esthetic Clinics offers various treatments to help remove the scales and stop the skin skills from growing fast. Some of the treatments may include topical creams and ointments, light therapy, oral medications, and injections. The treatments your doctor recommends depend on the severity of the condition.
What Triggers Psoriasis
Here are some of the factors that may trigger psoriasis:
Infections – Infections such as streptococcal throat infections can trigger guttate psoriasis, a type of psoriasis that is characterized by small tear-drop-shaped spots that are also red and silvery scaly. Respiratory and skin infections can also provoke flare-ups.
Weather – Any climate that causes the skin to dry can trigger or worsen psoriasis. Cold, dry weather especially, is linked to flare-ups. However, some patients have experienced reduced symptoms when the weather is warm or sunny. If your psoriasis is being affected by the weather, you can use a humidifier and moisturisers to lessen the symptoms.
Skin Injuries – Skin injuries like burns, cuts, and other incidents or traumas can cause psoriasis to worsen. It is also important for patients to avoid touching, or scratching, as this may trigger Koebner phenomenon, a condition that triggers psoriatic plaques to develop at the site of the injury.
Smoking and alcohol – Excessive alcohol consumption and smoking have been reported to increase the risk of psoriasis. Quitting smoking or reducing alcohol consumption can significantly reduce its symptoms.
Medications – Some medications such as lithium, antimalarial drugs, and beta-blockers, have been reported to increase the risk of the condition. Discuss with your doctor about the possibility that your medications are causing psoriasis to worsen and if looking for alternative medication is an option.
Tips to Manage Psoriasis and Stop it From Spreading
While the cure for psoriasis hasn’t been quite yet found, you can consult a professional like Dr. Rinky Kapoor for treatment options and some practices that can help manage and stop psoriasis from spreading. Here are some tips:
Consult a Best Dermatologist in Mumbai – The first thing you need to do if you suspect you have psoriasis is visit a psoriasis treatment clinic and consult a dermatologist who can assess your skin, provide you with an accurate diagnosis, and tailor a treatment plan for your specific needs.
Medications – Your dermatologist may prescribe various medications such as topical creams and ointments, oral medications, injections, or biologic therapies to help manage your psoriasis. Make sure to follow these medications.
Avoid triggers – As mentioned earlier in this article, there are some factors that may lead to the development of or worsen psoriasis. Identify your personal triggers and avoid them. These triggers may include stress, certain foods, medications, and environmental factors.
Skin protection – Psoriasis can be easily managed by simply protecting your skin. While accidents happen, make sure to avoid injuries as much as possible. Wearing protective clothing or padding might help.

August is Psoriasis Action Month: If you’ve been struggling with psoriasis or other skin conditions, and conventional treatments just aren’t cutting it, it might be time to consider a different approach. At The Real Gut Doctor, we believe that true healing starts from the inside out. If you’re tired of relying on medications that only mask the symptoms without addressing the root cause, it’s time to look deeper—starting with your gut. The connection between gut health and skin health is powerful, and improving your gut may be the key to unlocking clearer, healthier skin. 5 Top tips to improve your gut & skin: 1. Feed Your Gut with Fiber Fiber is crucial for maintaining a healthy gut, which in turn supports healthier skin. By nourishing the good bacteria in your gut, fiber helps reduce the inflammation that drives psoriasis. 2. Embrace Probiotics A balanced gut microbiome can make all the difference in your skin’s appearance. Probiotics help cultivate that balance, reducing inflammation and promoting skin healing from within. Think of foods like yogurt, kefir, and fermented vegetables. 3. Cut Out Processed Foods Processed and sugary foods disrupt your gut’s natural balance, leading to more inflammation and, consequently, worsening psoriasis. Eat unprocessed foods & give your gut—and your skin—the chance to heal naturally. 4. Hydrate for Health Staying hydrated is essential for every aspect of your health, including your skin. Drinking plenty of water supports digestion, helps eliminate toxins, and can improve your skin’s condition. Make hydration a priority in your daily routine. 5. Incorporate Omega-3s Omega-3 fatty acids are known for their anti-inflammatory properties, making them a vital part of any skin-healing diet. Foods like fatty fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts not only support gut health but also help reduce the inflammation that triggers psoriasis flare-ups. ~ ~~~ Psoriasis Part 3 ~~~ Sunlight in moderation can also be beneficial in keeping psoriasis at bay. ~~~ Having said this, it is extremely important to understand that it can be equally dangerous to burn the skin, take care when sunbathing. Minimise in the beginning and gently increase your exposure to the sun, with guidance from your general practitioner. ~~~ It is important to avoid inflammatory foods and beverages that exacerbate psoriasis symptoms, such as: ▪processed foods ▪Gluten ▪Red meat ▪High forms of dairy products can irritate psoriasis ▪Nightshade family- includes peppers, white potato, eggplant, tomatoes etc ▪Fizzy drinks ▪Alcohol ▪Smoking ~~~ Remember if you suffer from psoriasis you are not being selfish in taking care of your health needs. Take a moment to relax, meditate, work systematically through certain techniques of relaxation. Some people find it helps speaking with other sufferers as they are experiencing the same symptoms. . . . . #psoriasis #eggplant #psoriasisawareness #tomatoes #psoriasiswarrior #psoriasisproblems #psoriasishelp #psoriasisfighter #psoriasissupport #psoriasisrelief #healthtips #psoriasishealing #peppers #psoriasiseducation #nightshade #dairyproducts #redmeat #gluten #processedfoods #inflammatoryfoods #sunbathing #generalpractitioner #sunlight #fizzydrinks #alcohol #smoking #relaxation #meditation #selfishness #whitepotatoes (at London, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5FxviWpECe/?igshid=1mu1cw3uypkzw

🌟 CAN INDIVIDUALS WITH PSORIASIS GET TATTOOS? UNVEILING THE FACTS AND CONSIDERATIONS! 💉✨
At The Radical Scholar, we love exploring unconventional topics, and today we tackle a frequently asked question: Can individuals with psoriasis get tattoos? In this article, we delve into the considerations, potential risks, and important factors to keep in mind if you have psoriasis and are contemplating getting a tattoo. 💭🖌️
🔍 Consultation with a Dermatologist: Before diving into tattoo plans, consult with a dermatologist to assess the suitability based on your psoriasis condition. Their expertise ensures personalized guidance and recommendations tailored to your needs. 💼🔬
⚠️ Evaluating Psoriasis Status: Timing matters! If your psoriasis is active with flare-ups, open sores, or lesions in the intended tattoo area, it's generally recommended to wait until it's under control. Tattooing over active psoriatic skin can potentially worsen symptoms and complicate the healing process. ⏳🚫
💡 Tattoo Placement Considerations: Strategic placement is key! Opt for a tattoo location away from active psoriatic skin to minimize flare-up risks and discomfort during healing. Discussing this with your dermatologist and tattoo artist can help determine the best placement for your tattoo. 🌈✍️
🤝 Collaborating with a Knowledgeable Tattoo Artist: Choose a tattoo artist experienced in working with psoriasis-affected skin. Their expertise in adapting techniques and design choices can minimize the impact on your psoriasis. Trust their guidance on shading, aftercare, and ensuring a positive experience. 🎨🙌
🏥 Aftercare and Monitoring: Proper aftercare is crucial! Follow your tattoo artist's instructions, keeping the tattooed area clean, moisturized, and protected during healing. Monitor for any signs of irritation, infection, or psoriasis flare-ups, promptly consulting your dermatologist and tattoo artist if concerns arise. 🌡️🔍
⚠️ Potential Risks and Complications: While many individuals with psoriasis successfully get tattoos, there are risks to consider. Tattooing over psoriatic skin can cause temporary psoriasis worsening or the development of new lesions. Additionally, the texture of psoriatic skin may impact the tattoo's appearance. Being aware of these risks and discussing them with professionals will help you make an informed decision. 💪⚠️
Remember, getting a tattoo with psoriasis requires thoughtful consideration and collaboration with dermatologists and experienced tattoo artists. By seeking professional guidance, you can minimize risks and make informed decisions aligned with your preferences and well-being. Ready to express yourself? Let's explore the possibilities! 💫💉

~ ~~~ Psoriasis Part 2 ~~~ Psoriasis occurs when skin cells are replaced faster than usual. In normal skin cells the body produces layers of skin over a period of 3 to 4 weeks. However with psoriasis sufferers this happens over 3 to 7 days and cells that are not fully mature build up a lot faster to the surface of the skin leaving it with lesions of red sores, patches of plaque formation that are flaky and scaly. ~~~ It is unknown why this happens, however it is suggested that it is caused by a problem in the immune system/gut. The conditions of psoriasis are quite complex. ~~~ There are a few natural methods in keeping the condition under a certain amount of control, naturally: ▪A change of diet/ eating lots of greens ▪Looking into plant based foods ▪Oatmeal is known to soothe irritated skin ▪Lemons are found to improve digestion due to high forms of flavonoids ▪Meditation and relaxation techniques ▪Maintaining a healthy weight ▪Salt baths ▪Warm bath with essential oils can be quite soothing for the skin ▪In some cases a humidifier can help ~~~ Making sure there's no deficiency in Vitamin D and other nutrients, including minerals. ~~~ If you know someone that suffers from psoriasis, and you think they'll benefit tag them. . . . . #psoriasis #skinproblems #skinhealth #skindisorder #psoriasisawareness #skindisorders #psoriasiswarrior #psoriasisproblems #psoriasishelp #psoriasisfighter #psoriasissupport #psoriasisrelief #healthtips #psoriasishealing #psoriasiscure #psoriasislife #psoriasiscommunity #skineducation #psoriasiseducation #immunesystem #immunesystemdisorder #gutdisorders #greenfood #dietchange #plantbased #plantbasedfood #plantbaseddiet #oatmeal #flavonoids #saltbath (at London, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/B45CsWSJ6nS/?igshid=1qse3cdjalnoa
