I think if Wake and Leaves ever appear in the anime or another TCG animation or anything (there’s no reason they would appear in another TCG animation unless that’s how they’re introduced to Pocket), Harsh Sunlight boosted Hydro Steam and Electric Terrain boosted Psyblade should have extra visual effects than their non-boosted versions
#give me extra steam for Hydro Steam and electrical sparks for Psyblade or something#walking wake#iron leaves#pokémon#Hydro Steam#Psyblade#I do appreciate the anime having Fire glow when it activates Protosynthesis even if I would have made it glow green instead of yellow

Shrill Stalk - Paradox Pokemon
Type: Fairy/Grass
Height: 8"2
Ability: Protosynthesis
OCCULTURE: March Issue: Enigmas of Paldea, File #03
Shrill Stalk: Thriving Plantlife in the Ancient Past?!
Named after a similar species of plant found in the Scarlet Book, it's recognized by its gigantic stature along with the tendrils growing from its head, which it uses along with its sharp claw-like roots to siphon energy from fertile earth. It's thought to be vicious enough that if it were to be approached in this process, it would blare ear-splitting screams that would send away any predator in a flash. Though, coincidentally, it bears quite the striking resemblance to a famous virtual pop star of today…

Pretty Bones - paradox pokemon Type: dark/ground Ability: Protosynthesis
The old-fashioned style in which it dresses itself in bones suggests this could be a Mandibuzz from the age of dinosaurs. Though its movements have been described as 'dainty' and 'demure', it also allegedly causes tremors with every step it takes.
Cyber Meat - paradox pokemon Type: flying/blood Ability: Quark Drive
This mechanical construct has allegedly been sighted hovering ominously near medical equipment, although all primary reports were previously dismissed as fever dreams. It closely matches a story from a sci-fi magazine of a Vullaby from a time when all bones are replaced with metal implants.

Any other AniPoké fans out there who find themselves calling out to the screen during battles as if they're there with the characters???
Genuinely curious, because episodes 81 and 82 of Horizons made me really realize how often I call out to the characters on the screen. Episode 81 for example had me calling out all of Gouging Fire's moves to the characters, like, I saw that thing's body start glowing with fiery energy and then Quaxwell made its way towards it for Liquidation and I screamed out "NO DON'T TOUCH IT!!! THAT'S BURNING BULWARK, YOU'LL GET BURNED IF YOU TOUCH IT!!!" And then I saw it start to prepare Dragon Pulse and called out to the screen, "Dragon Pulse incoming!" And once it activated its Protosynthesis and encased itself completely in fire I was like, "Raging Fury! Dodge all the rampaging attacks and wait for it to get confused!" That's just SOME of the moments during that battle where I got really invested.
And don't even get me STARTED on the battle with the shiny Rayquaza in episode 82, between the Dragon Pulses, Draco Meteors, Dragon Ascents, and Dragon Tails, I was screaming out incoming attacks at the screen like crazy! Rayquaza faces towards the sky with its mouth open, "Draco Meteor! That'll be tough to dodge..." Rayquaza gathers energy in its mouth, "That's Dragon Pulse!" Rayquaza's tail glows, "It knows Dragon Tail too?!?!" Rayquaza starts to glow green, "Dragon Ascent! It's Rayquaza's signature move!"
These were legit my exact reactions watching that battle for the first time, it was insane and so exciting, also the animation was awesome, and we got to see Cap use his Rising Volt Tackle again so that's always a plus in my book because Rising Volt Tackle just looks so cool! But after watching these two episodes I realized just how often I do this while watching battles for the first time in the anime...and only the first time watching each battle because on rewatches it's not as gripping to me because I know the results of the battle already...does anyone else do this too? Please tell me I'm not the only one who gets so invested in what I'm watching to the point of screaming incoming attacks and battle tips and stuff at the screen like I'm there with the characters...'cause that's so embarrassing if I am the only one, especially since I've done it for YEARS now by this point and am only JUST realizing that fact. 😅
#pokemon#anipoke#pokemon horizons#self-reflection on just how invested in pokemon anime battle scenes I get#episodes 81 and 82 of horizons specifically caused this self-reflection#i hope i'm not the only one who does this#i feel kinda embarrassed about it just posting this 😅#especially since i only just now realized i have been doing this exact same thing for years now 😅#pika talks: horizons

Pokemon Horizons Episode 81 Review - You Better Have Burn Heal
Wow, this episode was fire—no pun intended! The animation team sure put a lot of love and effort into this fight from the mysteriousness of Gouging Fire to how the battle was played out.
I really loved how it appeared in front of the group. It was all mysterious and full of wonder. Then, the twist of it taking the Hero Belt came off as a surprise to me. Though, I did like that the penultimate Hero Pokemon gave them a challenge in order to prove their worth. I did like that everyone from Rystal to the kids believed it was Entei because it looked like one until Briar points out it being a Paradox Pokemon. This means that Rystal and Lucius just thought it was one unusual looking Entei as they were never aware of Paradox Pokemon. The flashback with it and Lucius was hilarious because who would’ve thought that the menacing Pokemon that gave the kids their hardest challenge yet is all playful with Lucius.
I honestly think this is Horizons’ best battle by far because the group is practically battling blind. Since they believe it’s an Entei, they assume it was a Fire-type before realizing it’s actually a Paradox Pokemon and believes it’s Fire/Dragon as it used Dragon Pulse. It’s practically seeing people going into a Pokemon game without any knowledge of types and expect to figure something out. Heck, Gouging Fire was no pushover with the way it gave the kids their biggest challenge in its ability Protosynthesis. The way it barricades itself in fire was easily difficult with how normal Water moves evaporated and Floragato having to avoid getting burned. If it’s to the point that Burn Heal actually makes its anime debut after two decades since its game debut, then you know it’s a serious fight.
Dot was absolutely the star of this battle with the way she was the one leading in the strategies. Even Friede was taking in her orders and strategies. I’m glad that Dot got rewarded with making Quaxwell learn Aqua Cutter. Despite Dot being the star player, it’s a team effort and that no one hogged the spotlight and they were all equal. Though, I think my biggest gripe about the battle was Crocalor not using Disarming Voice. If they figured out it’s part Dragon, why not use a Fairy-type move? Not only that, Friede could’ve used the chance to Terastalize Captain Pikachu, but didn’t.
Coral and Sidian were mainly comic relief—well, mainly the former. She wanted to join in on the battle but gets stopped by Sidian who takes his orders very seriously. Their dynamic is honestly hilarious and I’m sure Scream Tail’s addition will make it even crazier.
I was honestly surprised that Rayquaza appeared in a flash after the five Heroes called for it. It’s crazy how this isn’t the final fight and that there’s still more to the story. I honestly can’t wait to see what’s going to happen because it’s back-to-back fights and the Starters are ragged and exhausted from the previous fight. I hope that Roy is able to earn Rayquaza’s trust as it was Roy’s goal from the beginning. I honestly can’t wait for next week. What about you?

Name: Melodious Voice. Type: Psychic/Fairy. Gender: N/A. Evolution: None. Ability: Protosynthesis.
Paradox Pokemon.
Dex entry: This pokemon resembles a being known as Melodious Voice in an old expedition journal, it's voice was written to be able to control the hearts and minds of any living being that heard it sing. It has an uncanny resemblance to the mythical Pokemon Meloetta, hinting that it may be an ancient ancestor or previous form of the Pokemon years ago.

Mighty Karp
Name: Mighty Karp
Type: Water/Dragon
Ability: Protosynthesis
Info:
Past Paradox Pokemon of Magikarp the Mighty Karp!
We've read many tales, that their was a 'stronger' 'better' version of Magikarp in the past compared to the modern version, and well here is my take on it, inspired by the Shachihoko, roof decoration linked/viewed below

Photo from Japanese Aesthetics tumblr post https://www.tumblr.com/japaneseaesthetics/179905943286/japaneseaesthetics-dragon-fish-japan-edo-period?source=share
(Personally really like the idea of drawing Past Paradox Pokemon Based on ancient artifacts or vintage stuff, honestly think we could have some creative looking 'past' Pokemon based on different era's instead of just the caveman days, but at the same time, I do like the idea of sticking to the Past Pokemon theme)

So I’ve just properly realised that Thunderclap only has 70 base power and I honestly thought it had more (probably because Thunderclap and Tachyon Cutter had the same issue as Armor Cannon and Bitter Blade for me where I didn’t consider the difference in base power and just jumped to the conclusion that not only was the Violet exclusive more interesting but they had the better signature move) but when Psyblade (which gains a greater boost from Electric Terrain as well as also benefitting from Psychic Terrain, doesn’t automatically fail if your opponent decided they didn’t want to attack this turn in favour of some setup and has three times the amount of PP that Thunderclap has) does 80 damage, I’m kinda struggling to see Thunderclap as better in any way than Psyblade. Well, unless it’s against a Dark-type. Assuming that Dark-type isn’t also part Ground
#raging bolt#iron leaves#it wasn’t really about them but it was about their signature moves so they get tagged anyway#pokémon#I guess there’s the priority move advantage but Leaves is naturally fairly fast and it’s only available at level 75#so 90% of the time you probably won’t even realise the difference#also Bolt has a higher Special Attack stat than Leaves’s physical Attack stat (both of those are the highest stats in their trios though)#also Leaves automatically gets a Quark Drive boost to (most likely) its Attack when Psyblade increases to 1.5 base power#whereas Bolt doesn’t automatically get a Protosynthesis boost under the same conditions as Thunderclap increasing in power

Introduction: Take Two
I am Darrin Scintiller. Former leader of the group known as Team Luster.
As of the current moment? I am stranded in time, an unknown number of years in the past. I reside in Lumiose City, reliant on the hospitality of my benefactors, the Scintillers.
They do not yet know what my story truly is. I intend to explain to them when the time is right.
Many of you will know of my previous actions. I do not expect any sort of forgiveness. I pledge to better myself in any way I can.
My current Pokemon are as follows. Fang, my long-suffering Crobat, and Phantasm, my recently obtained Flutter Mane.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have, though I've stopped pretending to always know the answers.
// OOC and more information below the break!
Mod Kirby here, figured it was time for a new pinned post, especially since the conceit of this blog has drastically shifted.
Darrin is a complicated character, who I want to really explore the morality of. He is neither fully evil nor particularly good, and my ultimate goal is to portray both his self-centered, arrogant side, and his nurturing, genuine side.
He has made a variety of enemies during his time on this site, as well as the occasional kind-of ally. I encourage any interactions on this blog, especially if it's to be mean to him.
The current arc, which will continue for the foreseeable future, is not at all entrenched with the plot of Legends Z-A, though the initial teaser trailer was indeed what inspired me to yeet this old man to ancient Lumiose. It will follow my own story, which I'm very excited to show to you all.
There may be occasional interruptions from Darrin's former admins, Laurel and Kira, though these will be sparse. They cannot access any of the posts Darrin has made since his arrival in Lumiose.
The previous pinned post, with some outdated but generally still accurate information, can be found here.
The userboxes below are just guidelines, I'm honestly fine with anything that isn't Magic Anons. I should probably update those at some point actually
And now it's team member time!
Darrin's team:
ON HAND (Pokemon who Darrin has access to currently. Will be updated when he catches more team members.)
Fang the Crobat, Male, around level 64, moves are Hypnosis, Air Slash, Supersonic, and Cross Poison. Ability is Inner Focus.

Rhine/Rhinestone the Carbink, Genderless, around level 20, moves are Harden, Smack Down, Flail, and Ancient Power. Ability is Clear Body.
OWNED (Pokemon who Darrin has caught, but are either not with him in the past or inaccessible for other reasons)
Scar the Garchomp, Female, around level 50, moves are Bulldoze, Crunch, Dragon Claw, and Scary Face. Ability is Sand Veil. Can Mega Evolve.
Ghoul the Gengar, Male, around level 60, moves are Night Shade, Sucker Punch, Sludge Bomb, and Dream Eater. Ability is Cursed Body.

Wandering Star - paradox pokemon Type: psychic/fighting Ability: Protosynthesis
A mysterious creature that shares certain traits with Jirachi. It keeps its third eye open at all times, allowing it to grant itself infinite wishes. Since its mind is primitive and unimaginitive, these wishes only ever consist of aiding its physical strength.
Glory Box - paradox pokemon Type: steel/dark Ability: Quark Drive
A futuristic weapon designed somewhat like Jirachi. Nobody has figured out how to open its head yet, but analysis of its attacks suggests its payload is a highly destructive wish that will cause untold misfortune once free.
I know I'm late to this but I don't care :)
