An Unexpected Visitor: Part 2
Darrin is flabbergasted.
For a moment, he simply has nothing to say to Grant's statement. After a silence stretching just long enough to become awkward, he fumbles out a response.
"A-A Gym Leader position? Are you quite certain?" Darrin says, eyes wide. "I, well, of course I wouldn't deny if I were to be asked, and yet, that is to say-"
Grant raises a hand to silence him. Darrin shuts his mouth.
"There's no need to answer right away, Mr. Scintiller." He says coolly. "If you were to accept, we'd need to consult the other Leaders, not to mention the Elite Four, Champion, and government officials. It would be a lengthy process. I only wanted to see how interested you'd be."
"W-well, I'd be honored, of course." Darrin blustered. "But you don't think I'm just a little bit... out of my prime?"
"Perhaps." Grant admitted. "So are Ramos and Wulfric, but you don't see either of them planning to retire. I believe you have the spirit of a great Gym Leader, but please, take some time to consider my offer."
"Of course, I will." Darrin nodded. He was a little surprised when Grant got up from the couch and walked to the door, but of course the Cyllage Gym Leader would be busy.
"I understand your organization must demand much of your attention at present." Grant said. "But remember you do not have to pick one commitment or the other."
And with that, he was gone. Though the conversation had lasted all of five minutes, Darrin would be mulling it over for hours yet. Had he said the right thing? Would it have been smarter to just accept Grant's offer right away?
To be frank, he wasn't even sure he'd make a good Gym Leader. His Pokemon were made for work in the mines, not constant battle. He'd have to assemble a new team, and that would take ages.
Darrin sighed and slumped down on the couch. Goodness, his head hurt. He could really use a vacation.

Ah, I see! Yes, that makes perfect sense. Safe travels and take care. Don't expect Viola to be a pushover either, she may be the first Leader faced on the traditional Kalosian circuit, but that certainly doesn't mean she can't command a stronger team when the situation calls for it!
Since Gail learnt Hail, she has control of the weather in battle. Should I try to do a Gym Battle?

Best of luck to you! You live in Lumiose, so you would be challenging... Clemont, correct? He's anything but an easy opponent, I would advise preparing for a difficult battle.

An Unexpected Visitor: Part 1
The man at Darrin's door is tall, casually dressed but confident. His hair is stood up in a dark spire, embedded with pins resembling gemstones. A small pin on his shirt reads Cyllage Leader Grant, as if he could possibly be mistaken for anyone else.
"Greetings, Mr. Scintiller." The Gym Leader extends a hand. Darrin shakes it. Despite his slender build, he has a firm grip, with hands calloused from who knows how many years spent climbing jagged cliffsides. "Is this a bad time for a visit?"
"Oh no, not at all. Please, come inside and make yourself at home." Darrin responds. He sees the impatience hidden carefully beneath a mask of seriousness, and decides there's no sense in making idle conversation.
Grant nods and walks into the house, removing his boots and sitting upon the plush couch in the living room.
"Your house looks as well-kept as ever." He observes. "I heard news you suffered an injury whilst mining. I'm very glad you appear to have recovered."
"Oh, er, yes." Darrin nods stiffly. "I'm still a bit shaky on my feet. But I should be returning to work... soon."
Grant raises a single well-kept eyebrow. The leader of Team Luster squirms a bit.
"I'm not any sort of medical professional, but you certainly seem quite healthy." The Gym Leader says, swirling an ornate ceramic mug. "Perhaps it is a mental blockage that ails you."
"I suppose that's a possibility." Darrin admits, rocking back and forth as he bites his lip. "You're very perceptive, Gym Leader."
"It's part of the job." Grant says with the shadow of a smile darkening his face. "Speaking of, that's what I wished to discuss with you today. Would you, Mr. Scintiller, be interested in taking on the position of Cyllage City Gym Leader, once I have yielded my title?"

Not to be a worrywart, but if your Garchomp is sneezing frequently, it may be a good idea to take them to a Pokemon hospital. It can be a sign of ill health, and being generally a self-reliant species, they may attempt to conceal their discomfort from their Trainers.
Goodness knows how many times Scar has avoided me when she had a cold or was shedding a worrying amount of scales.
Hhehehehehe birb go sneeeeeze
Even the strongest of pokemon can have the littlest of kitten sneezes.
My Garchomp makes the smallest of sneezes-
I’d bet dragon sneezed are either really cute or fucking terrifying, but the mental image of a Garchomp getting the sniffles because of a few loose grains of sand in its nostrils is objectively funny.

Rotomblr denizens, do any of you remember the Rillaboom in a Unovan zoo who her caretaker claimed could understand sign language? I believe the legitimacy of the experiment has since been called into question, and the Rillaboom herself has since passed away, but it was a fascinating case nonetheless.

I can certainly sympathize with your plight. It's quite a difficult concept to wrap your head around at first- I still struggle myself at times.
I glean from your posts thus far that you're another Kalosian, yes? It does bring me joy to see such a variety of people hailing from my beloved region.
The multiverse is real apparently. And there are worlds where he of all people is still alive.
Fucking. Lysandre. I never wanted to see or hear anything about that bastard again.
Maybe that means there’s worlds out there where that never happened.

I should return to the mines now that I'm able to walk again. But...
No, I refuse to let fear control my life. I will go down once more, if only to prove to myself that I'm getting worked up about nothing.
(Who knows if that Diancie was real anyway? Yes, that's it. I must have imagined the whole thing. My injuries were just from a stray Rhyperior that attacked me.)
