Hi Sex Witch,
So this isn’t about sex really but it is a concern I have in regards to my body. So I am really bad at picking at scabs, pimples, bumps, you name it, and I have been completely unable to shake the habit. And I get this kind of acne on my face, shoulders, back, and boobs. And I’ve got scars as well from how much I’ve picked.
I’ve gotten some meds (twice a day pills and a lotion) but at least for the pills, they need to be taken with a glass of water and it’s recommended that they be taken with some food in the stomach. I usually take my meds right when I wake up so that I don’t forget since I have ADHD. Which means that I usually forget the acne meds in the morning, and I’ve not ever had meds in the evening so I rarely take them then. I don’t even know if they actually work because I take them so rarely.
My main concern is that if I ever get breast cancer, I won’t know because bumps are already so common on my boobs.
I know that the best solution would be to just stop picking but I don’t know how to actually do that. I guess the other obvious thing to do would be to actually be taking my meds consistently but I also don’t really know how to get into that routine.
I don’t really know what advice you can offer about this but I figure it doesn’t hurt to ask
Also thank you so much for answer questions all the time, I think your blog is really great and really appreciate how supportive you are when people ask questions
✨💙✨ <— just so that I know this was mine when I see it
hi anon,
one of the best things you can do to help head off this fear would be learning about practicing breast self-exams and recognizing when a change in your breast is something different than the bumps you're used to.
bumpy breasts aren't the only warning sign of breast cancer (nor are they always a sign of breast cancer; about 4/5 of bumps are caused by something else). according to the American Cancer Society, a more complete list of warning signs includes:
Swelling of all or part of a breast (even if no lump is felt)
Skin dimpling (sometimes looking like an orange peel)
Breast or nipple pain
Nipple retraction (turning inward)
Nipple or breast skin that is red, dry, flaking, or thickened
Nipple discharge (other than breast milk)
Swollen lymph nodes under the arm or near the collar bone (Sometimes this can be a sign of breast cancer spread even before the original tumor in the breast is large enough to be felt.)
being familiar enough with your breasts to quickly notice any of these changes and seek medial consultation if you're worried is important preventative care!
also, this is important: I don't know how old you are, but unless you have a family history of developing breast cancer early, it's unlikely that you need to seriously worry about this until you start approaching your fifties. by all means learn the signs and how to be proactive, especially if it will grant you some peace of mind, and feel free to express your concerns with your healthcare provider, but also please let this relieve some anxiety if you're not yet in the age range where breast cancer is most likely.

So I casually mentioned it offhand last night, but it's been bugging me all day. To the point that I got friendnapped this afternoon to help distract me.
Last night during my shower, I discovered a lump in my tit during my self-check. It wasn't there last month and it wasn't on my mammogram I had back at the end of November.
Now, I know it could be a myriad of different things, but my mother had breast cancer twice before the age of 30 and then again at the age of 35. I am currently 36. I also have a history of uterine cancer, which raises the risk of other gynecological cancers. This includes breast cancer. So, needless to say, that's where my brain is.
Then this morning, while I was trying to make an appointment with my doctor about the lump, I learned that my doctor doesn't take my insurance anymore. Which prompted a worse panic attack because my Botox is next fuckin week in the same health system. Anyway, after multiple calls to the county and doctors office, we learned it was just the one location that doesn't take it and I'm still good for Botox and to set up with a new primary care.
Except in order for me to get seen as soon as possible (I'm not fucking around with this), I have to see a doctor on the other side of the Twin Cities. At 8am on Monday. 45 minutes from where I live. 😐
The thought that keeps rattling in my brain that is keeping me mostly grounded was that I had a clear mammogram less than two months ago and didn't feel this last month. So if it is anything bad, it's being caught SUPER early.
Seriously. The thing that is keeping me sane is the thought that doing the proactive shit you're supposed to do when you have tits might have caught something super early.
So. Yeah.
Gonna be funny if I get two gender affirming surgeries because of cancer tho

OCTOBER is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Sending love, support and solidarity to all of the women & men (and yes men can get it too) who have been diagnosed, survived an taken by breast cancer.
Awareness, Early Detection, Resources, Research, Resilience, Support, Solidarity, Teamwork and Vision are just a few of the words that come to mind, whenever I use my voice to Advocate for anyone who has had their lives impacted by breast cancer.
Before I was even born, breast cancer had taken the life of one of my grandmothers. In her last months of life she dedicated her last days to research, allowing researchers to try experimental medications to save other women’s lives while knowing that the new research wouldn’t save her own.
My mother also succumbed to her battle with breast cancer after going into remission for two years. She also used her voice LOUDLY to advocate and encourage research for the “ cure.”
If you speak with me long enough you know that my love for genealogical research goes deeper than just figuring out who my ancestors are. When my aunt, got diagnosed a year after my mom died, her cancer also went into remission, for 15 years!!! One of her greatest gifts to her granddaughter ( my cousin) and the other women in my family, (including myself) was her willingness to take several tests to see if she carried either of the genes associated with the disease. Unfortunately, my cousin did end up with breast cancer and made it through because of my aunts agreeing to take a test that was innovative for the times.
In my early 20’s I had the most degrading experience with a doctor. After my mom had died I went to see him to keep a promise that I made to my mom to get regularly tested. He flat out refused because my age didn’t match the scientific data. I argued that the women in my family had a tendency of dying young when they get that disease ( my mom was 43, and my grandma was 33, he still refused me when I told him I really wanted to take the test. I left in tears.
It was another doctor that understood the roll of genetics that got me tested, and that knowledge, has been empowering, My mom lost one of her breasts to breast cancer, after my aunt got her test back she made the well informed decision to remove both of her breasts in order to stay in remission. My cousin used the genetic data to help with her treatment, by the grace of God I have not been diagnosed with breast cancer, despite my strong family history of the disease. Although in 2018 I did have a scare that, thankfully wasn’t breast cancer. So, each year I have a mammogram, all year I advocate, research, and fundraise for a cure, no women at any age should be denied the right to a test based on age or falling outside of a scientific range of probability.
Genetic research is an extension of awareness and advocacy. As a reminder encourage the women around you to take care of their breast health. Every disease isn’t always about your environment or lifestyle, genetics play a big part. Know your history or discover it when you can. Being proactive and learning about your genetic & DNA makeup might just save a life.

How Diagnostic Tests Support Women’s Health
Diagnostic tests play a crucial role in supporting women’s health by providing accurate insights into their overall well-being. Through medical laboratory procedures, doctors and specialists can detect, diagnose, and monitor various health conditions that may affect women at different stages of life. These tests help in early detection, leading to more effective treatment and better health outcomes.
From routine screenings to more specialized tests, diagnostic procedures enable doctors to gain a deeper understanding of a woman’s unique health needs. For instance, regular Pap smears and mammograms can help in the early detection of cervical and breast cancers, both of which are more common in women. Additionally, blood tests and ultrasounds are vital tools in diagnosing conditions such as hormonal imbalances, infections, and even pregnancy-related complications.
Women’s health can often be influenced by factors such as age, genetics, and lifestyle choices. Regular diagnostic tests provide a proactive approach to managing conditions like osteoporosis, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, which women are at higher risk for as they age. These tests also play an essential role in reproductive health, helping to monitor fertility, pregnancy, and conditions like endometriosis or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
Ultimately, diagnostic tests are an essential component of preventive care. By working closely with their doctors and specialists, women can ensure they stay on top of their health and address any potential concerns before they develop into serious issues. With the advancements in medical laboratory technology, diagnostic tests continue to evolve, offering more precise and less invasive options to support women’s health throughout their lives.

Contact Us On: +971 52 747 2414
Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women worldwide, and Dubai has emerged as a hub for advanced medical care, offering cutting-edge technologies and compassionate support for patients. With its world-class healthcare facilities and a team of skilled professionals, Dubai provides a broad spectrum of treatment options tailored to individual needs. Whether you're seeking early-stage treatment or advanced therapies, this guide will walk you through the comprehensive breast cancer treatment in dubai.
Understanding Breast Cancer and Its Diagnosis
Breast cancer occurs when abnormal cells in the breast begin to grow uncontrollably. These cancerous cells can form lumps or spread to other parts of the body if left untreated. Early detection is key, and Dubai's hospitals emphasize proactive measures such as regular mammograms, clinical breast exams, and self-checks.
Diagnostic Tools Available in Dubai
Dubai’s healthcare institutions are equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, including:
Mammography: A low-dose X-ray to detect lumps or abnormalities.
Ultrasound: Used to evaluate any suspicious findings from a mammogram.
MRI Scans: Provides a detailed image for detecting subtle changes in breast tissue.
Biopsy: Extracting a small sample of tissue for testing to confirm the presence of cancer.
The accuracy and precision of these diagnostic tools ensure early detection, which plays a pivotal role in successful treatment outcomes.
Treatment Options for Breast Cancer in Dubai
Dubai’s medical facilities offer a holistic approach to breast cancer treatment, combining advanced technology with compassionate care. Treatment plans are customized based on the stage of cancer, patient health, and personal preferences.
1. Surgery: The First Line of Defense
Surgery is often the first step in breast cancer treatment, aimed at removing cancerous tissues. Dubai offers the following surgical options:
Lumpectomy: Removal of the tumor while preserving most of the breast.
Mastectomy: Removal of one or both breasts, depending on the extent of cancer.
Reconstructive Surgery: Performed after mastectomy to restore the breast’s appearance using implants or natural tissues.
Dubai's skilled surgeons use minimally invasive techniques whenever possible, ensuring quicker recovery and better cosmetic outcomes.
2. Radiation Therapy
Radiation therapy is used to target and destroy cancer cells after surgery. Dubai’s hospitals employ advanced radiation technologies like image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), which precisely target cancer cells while sparing healthy tissue.
3. Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy involves the use of drugs to kill or slow the growth of cancer cells. In Dubai, patients receive personalized chemotherapy plans based on the type and stage of cancer. Treatment can be delivered through:
Intravenous injections.
Oral medications.
Oncology centers in Dubai prioritize patient comfort, offering services such as private infusion rooms and round-the-clock medical support.
4. Hormone Therapy
For hormone-sensitive breast cancers, hormone therapy is an effective treatment. This involves medications that block hormones like estrogen or progesterone, which fuel cancer growth. Hormone therapy is often used in combination with other treatments to maximize effectiveness.
5. Targeted Therapy
Targeted therapy involves drugs designed to attack specific proteins or genes that contribute to cancer growth. Dubai’s hospitals are at the forefront of using drugs like Herceptin for HER2-positive breast cancers, ensuring precision in treatment and fewer side effects.
6. Immunotherapy
Dubai is embracing immunotherapy as an innovative treatment option. It harnesses the body’s immune system to identify and fight cancer cells. This cutting-edge approach offers hope to patients with aggressive or advanced-stage cancers.
Supportive Care and Rehabilitation
Breast cancer treatment goes beyond medical interventions. Emotional and physical support are vital for recovery, and Dubai provides robust support systems, including:
Counseling Services: To help patients and families navigate the emotional challenges of cancer.
Physiotherapy: Assists in regaining strength and mobility after surgery or other treatments.
Support Groups: Encourages patients to share their experiences and find solidarity with others undergoing similar journeys.
Dubai’s hospitals also focus on post-treatment wellness, offering nutrition counseling, fitness programs, and mental health support to promote overall well-being.
