John Giles, the Republican Mayor of Mesa, Arizona, wrote an OpEd today for the Arizona Republic stating the reasons why he is endorsing Kamala Harris for President. Mesa is the 3rd largest city in Arizona, and the Arizona Republic is the largest newspaper by circulation in the crucial battleground state.
Giles listed the following reasons why he can't support Donald Trump: 1. He refused to accept the outcome of the 2020 election, and continues to do so. 2. He continues to trash the American legal system to delegitimize it. 3. He orchestrated the "fake elector" scheme in Arizona. 4. He orchestrated the sham "audit" of the election by the Arizona Senate and Cyber Ninjas. 5. He blocked the bipartisan border bill negotiated in the Senate. 6. He treated Infrastructure Week like a joke when cities like his badly needed it.
7. He is a convicted felon and threat to the nation. 8. He has threatened to abandoned NATO. 9. He has eroded public confidence in our institutions. 10. His advisors and associates drafted Project 2025, which is a threat to our freedoms. 11. He is crude and vulgar. Giles then listed the reasons why he isn't just anti-Trump, he is also pro-Harris: 1. The Administration delivered on their promise with infrastructure funding for the Phoenix-Mesa Airport, and made technological investments in the transportation sector. 2. Thousands of new jobs are being created in Arizona with the CHIPS Act. 3. She has taken a strong stand against gun violence. 4. She has taken a strong stand for women's rights which are under assault from MAGA Republicans.
Giles then concluded with the following: "We can choose a future for our children and grandchildren based on decency, respect and morality — or succumb to the crudeness and vulgarity of Trump and J.D. Vance and the far-right agenda they would champion.
Arizona leaders like McCain and Sen. Mark Kelly have embodied the commitment to country over party. And it’s that same high caliber of character and leadership I see in Vice President Harris.
That’s why I’m standing with her. Kamala Harris is the competent, just and fair leader our country deserves. This year too much is at stake to vote Republican at the top of the ticket.
It will take Arizona Republicans, independents and Democrats standing together against a far-right agenda. Let us put country over party by voting to stop Trump and protect our democracy."
Powerful stuff.
Winning back Arizona is crucial for Donald Trump. It is difficult to see any electoral path to victory for Trump without Arizona. He has continued to support candidates in that state like Kari Lake and Blake Masters who are toxic to moderate voters. He continues to attack the McCain family, who remain popular with those same moderate Arizona voters.
This endorsement by Giles certainly doesn't help Donald Trump, and gives a big boost to Kamala Harris in Arizona.

A Gun Control Post to Piss Everyone Off
The only reason to own a pistol is to hurt a human being and nobody should own them.
Assault rifle bans are idiotic political posturing from the left and have no (measurable) effect whatsoever on mass shooting.
Mass shootings with pistols are just as lethal as mass shootings with assault rifles.
Assault rifle bans are actually bans on specific parts and modifications to existing rifles that are entirely legal. Technology is at the point where 3D printing can create those modifications.
(Not that "this modification is ILLEGAL" is unprecedented; in my state it's a class 4 felony (2-10 years) just to saw off the barrel of a shotgun.
Not even USE IT. Just SAW IT OFF.
Making the crime of "lying on a firearm affidavit" (about protective orders, domestic violence convictions, felonies, involuntary commitments, etc.) into a felony is horrendous policy.
Sometimes people don't even know that they have a "protective order" against them because it wasn't called that at the time in an arcane civil legal proceeding where they did not have the right to counsel.
Yes this has happened to a client of mine. The "protective order" in question was an order from the Department of Social Services to not have her abusive boyfriend around her children. The firearm she was attempting to buy was defense against the abusive boyfriend. Technically? She should have gotten 2-10 years and become a felon. :)
Voluntary vs. involuntary commitments is often a matter of paperwork. Sometimes paperwork is wrong. Sometimes people don't remember that a commitment was involuntary.
All you're doing is felonizing and criminalizing an already oppressed and marginalized population.
Harsh mandatory minimums contribute to the problem.
Liberal politicians coming for your guns. The cops that you met at that Blue Lives Matter rally are the ones coming for your guns.
If you are pro-cop and pro-second amendment protections, you are lying to yourself about the reality of one of those things.
Cops can take your guns even if they aren't related to a crime you committed, even if they were just in the presence of someone else who committed a crime who could arguably be "possessing" the gun. They'll happily destroy the guns or sell them for profit, and they'll make the process of getting those guns back as difficult and arcane as possible so that you will inevitably fail.
If you are pro-cop and pro-gun, what you really like is just violence.
Drug convictions and nonviolent convictions should not be a reason to deny someone gun rights, even if they are felonious.
There is no historical precedent in this country for using substances or nonviolent offenses as an excuse to take guns away. Until one day someone decided to do it.
Why?
Because the people who were getting targeted by the justice system were black, and the government didn't want them to have guns.
Protective orders should not be a reason to deny someone gun rights.
There is no right to a lawyer for protective order hearings.
The standard of proof in protective order hearings is preponderance of the evidence (i.e., more than 50% of the evidence), not "beyond a reasonable doubt" like criminal cases.
Remember, not all victims of violent crime seek protective orders, but LOTS of lying assholes do seek protective orders to try and control other people. And lots of lying assholes get protective orders.
And who the hell am I to say all this?
I am a public defender (for closer to 10 years than 5), a pacifist, and someone who learned how to shoot and even participated in a shooting contest when I was 13.
In all that time, literally thousands of cases, how many times have I seen a police report where someone successfully uses a legally owned gun to intimidate away a person threatening violence?
Once.
#public defending#public defender#gun control#it's time this issue had a fresh look#every political plank on this subject is wrong#ask your local lawyer how it really works

I've had quite a few discussions on the topic of gun control lately, as those of you who follow me may be well aware, and, in doing so, I've found that I keep running into the exact same mental blocks and misconceptions in the pro-gun people that I debate. In the interest of not repeating myself thousands of times more in the future, I figured I'd write this out once so I can refer to it instead. Hopefully it'll be helpful to others in similar discussions as well.
A. "If we outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns!" or "It doesn't matter what laws you put in place, criminals will always be able to get guns"
It should make them really easy to spot then! Seriously, though, where do illegal guns come from? There's lots of people today for whom gun ownership is illegal, minors, felons, domestic abusers, etc, and yet lots of those people are able to get guns anyways. Let's take a look at how that happens.
First, there's the ones that just slip through the cracks. When a gun is sold by a licensed dealer, they check the NICS system is supposed to flag any reason why a person should be denied a firearm. The system is notoriously spotty; a 2014 study found 7.8 million outstanding warrants in state records but only 2.1 million in the NICS system [1], for example. For this reason, lots of people who should be prevented legally from owning guns are still able to buy them from licensed dealers.
Secondly, there's straw purchasers. Basically, a person with a clean record buys the gun from a licensed dealer and then either gives or sells the gun to a person who cannot legally purchase it. There's no hard figures on how often this happens, but a 2010 study showed that up to 20% of firearms dealers were willing to participate in a straw purchase [2] and a 2011 study found that more than 2/3 of firearms dealers had experienced attempted straw purchases [3].
Thirdly, there's the fact that, if you buy a gun from someone who's not a licensed dealer, 31 states require no background check at all and many others require a background check only for certain types of weapons [4].
Finally, there's plain theft. An estimated 380,000 guns are stolen every year according the NIH [5] and a quarter of licensed gun dealers reported experiencing firearm theft in the previous five years [3].
So where do illegal guns come from? Overwhelmingly, they come from legal guns!
In other words, if we were to outlaw guns entirely, it would be incredibly difficult for outlaws to get guns in the first place. Of course, we're not even talking about outlawing guns at this point, just closing a lot of the gaps I mentioned above. Either way, I hope this clears up why that's a bad argument; illegal guns are primarily coming from holes in our legal system of selling guns and closing those holes can, in fact, make it more difficult to get them.
B. "It's a slippery slope…"
This is basically the argument that any regulation, registration, or licensing requirement must be just the first step to total confiscation of all guns. This pretty ridiculous on its face and, for a great example of this, let's look at cars.
Every single car is required to be registered and every single driver is required to be licensed. Cars are also the subject of tons of regulations from speed limits to insurance requirements to manufacturing requirements like airbags, seatbelts, and crash tests.
Yet, despite all of this, cars have not only not been banned and confiscated, they are overwhelmingly the most common method of transportation in the United States with almost 92% of households owning at least one car [6]. There's no reason to believe that it would be different with firearms.
C. "There are 2.5 million self-defense uses of guns per year"
This statistic gets thrown around a lot so it's best to know where it comes from and all of the problems with it. The 2.5 million number comes from a study by Dr. Gary Kleck in the early 90s [7]. Kleck relied on a relatively small sample of self-reported self-defense incidents and extrapolated to the larger population. More recently, Dr. William English did a much larger survey with similar methods and came up with a number closer to 1.5 million [8]; lower, but still substantial.
The problem, though, is that these are all self-reported self-defense uses. The National Crime Victimization from 1992, around the same period Kleck conducted his study, concluded that there were likely only 65,000 defensive gun uses based on a much larger sample [9]. There's also been a good deal of research into what kind of incidents gun owners report as self-defense [10] and, when you investigate the actual circumstances of those incidents, it turns out that a lot of them, likely the majority, are not actually self-defense uses, but illegal escalations [11].
Also interesting, and indirectly related, is some research that shows that gun owners may actually be MORE likely to lose property in the event of a crime than those who use another type of weapon [12].
In other words, the number of times that gun owners use their guns to illegally intimidate other people likely outweighs the number of times that they use their guns in self-defense, but both are being reported as self-defense uses in the Kleck and English surveys.
D. "Only guns prevent government tyranny!"
This is pretty much the universal statement that gets thrown out once other evidence is debunked, and it's also provably wrong. Here's the thing, the number of privately owned guns has no correlation to the freedom or lack thereof in a country and, in fact, every single country that is freer than us has much stricter gun control laws.
It doesn't matter, by the way, which definition of freedom you use. I tend to use the ranking put together by Freedom House [13], but you can use any of them.
One argument that does get thrown around is the one put together by Dr. David Koppel in his study of the relationship between private gun ownership and liberty in which he concluded that greater gun ownership was associated with more freedom when gun ownership reached a high level [14]. However, it deserves pointing out that he reached this conclusion by averaging large categories of countries and including the United States, a statistical outlier in gun ownership, in the highest category of freedom. If one were to re-run his same study without the United States, his conclusion is no longer accurate.
It's also worth pointing out that he doesn't compare the United States to other countries in the highest category of freedoms, lumping them instead into a single category as "the top quintile of liberty". This is comparison, which I recommended above, would also show little correlation between gun ownership and individual liberty in a country.
E. "Why all the focus on guns, why aren't you trying to ban knives too?"
So this is the standard "whataboutism" argument that those opposed to gun control will resort to and the answer is simple: guns are much more powerful means of killing than just about any other instrument you can name.
Quite simply, there are more than twice as many homicides in the United States by firearm as there are by every other method combined [15]. Unless the argument is that the vast majority of murderers in the United States are deliberately choosing a less effective method, it seems that the people doing the killing think that this is the right tool for the job.
However, you should know that there's no need for such hypotheticals or data because, in the end, the person making this argument already knows that it's a false equivalence and there's an easy way to smoke them out. All you have to do is say something along the lines of "oh, so it won't be a problem if we ban guns because you'll be perfectly happy to use <> for self-defense since it's equally effective, right?"
Trust me, they'll choke very quickly and make it very clear that they are very aware that guns are more effective at killing people.

“The Supreme Court under Chief Justice John Roberts has been extraordinarily friendly turf for corporations. It has been more than four years since the Court has reversed a lower court decision favoring corporate interests, according to a new analysis by the Constitutional Accountability Center, a progressive think tank.
Now, with the clock ticking for Senate Republicans to confirm President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, federal judge Amy Coney Barrett, the groups that helped push through Trump’s two previous nominees are again ready to spend tens of millions of dollars on advertisements to ensure Barrett receives the lifetime appointment.
With 53 Senate Republicans in this soon-to-end 116th Congress, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell needs to prevent no more than three defections to confirm Barrett with a simple majority. Two Republicans have publicly expressed disapproval of confirming Trump’s nominee so close to the election, Senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, though it is not clear they have unequivocally committed to voting against Barrett—and the developing coronavirus outbreak among Republican senators is changing the vote count and confirmation timeline.
The conservative groups spending millions on television, digital, and direct mail ads hope to shore up GOP support for a nominee who is expected to be anti-abortion, socially conservative, and favorable to corporate interests.
All signs indicate that a potential Justice Barrett would continue the pro-corporate tilt of the Court. According to an analysis by the nonpartisan watchdog group Accountable.us, Judge Barrett sided with corporations over people 76% of the time on the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, in 44 of 55 cases reviewed. For example, in the 2018 case of Bruce Betzner and Barbara Betzner v. The Boeing Company, Barrett voted to reverse a district court’s decision to send a personal injury lawsuit back to state courts, the outcome Boeing was seeking. In August, Barrett delivered a ruling that could block gig workers from suing when tech companies deny them overtime pay, according to a report from The Daily Poster.
The Roberts court has been stuffing its docket with cases in which lower courts ruled against corporate interests—fully 91% in the 2018-2019 term. Already on the docket for the term that starts on Oct. 5 are a number of cases that involve state rulings: Ford Motor Co. v. Montana Eighth Judicial District Court, which could limit where individuals can pursue personal injury suits; Rutledge v. Pharmaceutical Care Management Association, on whether states can regulate pharmacy benefit managers; and Carney v. Adams, on whether states can require judges to be affiliated with one of the two major political parties. Other cases to be heard by the Supreme Court will feature deceptive commercial activities, arbitration agreements that limit peoples’ ability to sue corporations, and even the enforcement of IRS reporting requirements.
FOLLOW THE MONEY
Many of the top funders of groups backing Barrett, including many Republican megadonors, are billionaire corporate executives—in industries like manufacturing, transportation, shipping supplies, and private equity financing—whose economic outlooks could benefit from Barrett being confirmed to the vacant seat.
Here are the top donors to conservative groups spending on the Barrett confirmation, according to FEC data from Jan. 1, 2019 to Aug. 31, 2020:
Club For Growth
The right-wing Club For Growth, known for backing far-right candidates against moderate Republican incumbents and a past recipient of funding from the Koch-linked Center to Protect Patient Rights, recently pledged to spend $5 million on ads to back Trump’s nominee. The group’s nonprofit arm received nearly $6.8 million from undisclosed donors from July 2017 through July 2018, according to tax documents. Its super PAC, Club For Growth Action, has reported receiving nearly $56 million in the 2020 election cycle, according to data from the Center for Responsive Politics.
Club For Growth President David McIntosh said in a statement praising Barrett, “This choice will shape America’s future, as the Court considers cases relating to issues like the constant unconstitutional growth of government and whether federal agencies should have free rein to enact arbitrary rules without Congressional approval.”
Club For Growth has had huge support this year from Republican megadonor Richard Uihlein, the right-wing founder of shipping supplies company Uline, whose donations total $26.5 million this election cycle. Uihlein contributed $10 million to Club For Growth Action, the group’s super PAC, on Jan. 12, then $4 million on April 21 and another $10 million on August 8, according to FEC records.
Right-wing billionaire Jeff Yass, co-founder of financial firm Susquehanna International Group, donated over $17.5 million to the super PAC this cycle. Yass, a Pennsylvania-based options trader, has also contributed over $4 million to the conservative Protect Freedom PAC this cycle, making up the vast majority of its funding as reported in FEC records.
Also in this cycle, Club For Growth Action received over $2.1 million from the late Republican megadonor Richard Gilder, who died in May of congestive heart failure at the age of 87, and his ex-wife Virginia James. James has donated to the conservative Wisconsin state judge David Prosser in a 2011 recount battle and other Koch-related causes.
Richard and Barbary Gaby contributed over $1.6 million to Club For Growth Action. Barbara Gaby is the youngest child of Amway co-founder Jay Van Andel, who, with the DeVos family, has been a major funder of the the Heritage Foundation, a right-wing think tank, the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a nonprofit that helps Republican legislators collaborate with corporate lobbyists, and the Center for International Private Enterprise, a non-profit affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
America First Action
The pro-Trump super PAC America First Action is also promising ad buys totaling $5 million to promote Barrett in national television, digital and direct mail. Its nonprofit arm, America First Policies, took in $22 million in 2017 from donors whose identities it was not required to publicly disclose, while the PAC has received nearly $83 million this cycle, according to data from the Center for Responsive Politics.
The leading donors to the Trump super PAC, at $10 million apiece, have been Republican megadonor Timothy Mellon, the majority owner of transportation holding company Pan Am Systems, and Kelcy Warren, the billionaire co-founder and CEO of pipeline company Energy Transfer Partners whose Dakota Access pipeline has been mired in court battles over its potential to pollute key water sources in South Dakota.
Geoffrey Palmer, a Republican donor and billionaire real estate developer based in Los Angeles, has donated $6 million to America First Action. Richard and Elizabeth Uihlein threw in over $2.7 million. Three more familiar Trump megadonors have chipped in: Linda McMahon, the former pro wrestling executive who is now the super PAC’s chairwoman, with over $3.5 million; Blackstone Group CEO Stephen Schwarzman, with $3 million; and Diane Hendricks of Wisconsin, chair of a roofing supply company and a Republican megadonor, with $2 million.
Richard DeVos, co-founder of Amway and husband of Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, has contributed $400,000 to America First Action. GOP megadonor Marlene Ricketts, wife of TD Ameritrade founder Joe Ricketts, has given half a million dollars to the PAC.
Americans For Prosperity
Through a standalone website and by mobilizing its membership, the Koch brothers-founded libertarian advocacy group says it has sent 200,000 letters in support of Barrett to U.S. senators in the past week. The group’s super PAC has spent over $20 million this cycle in independent expenditures.
The majority of that amount has come from $7 million from Charles Koch’s fossil fuel conglomerate Koch Industries and close to $6.5 million from the Koch network’s Freedom Partners Action Fund, but several more corporate megadonors have given to Americans For Prosperity Action this cycle. Major GOP donor Ron Cameron, president of the Little Rock, Arkansas-based Mountaire Corporation, a chicken products producer, has contributed $3.5 million. Richard “Dick” Haworth, the former CEO of an eponymous office-interiors manufacturer company, and his wife Ethelyn contributed $1.5 million to AFP Action. Haworth attended an exclusive Vail, Colorado retreat convened by the Koch Brothers for donors who had given over $1 million to right-wing causes. Trucking executive Clarence L. Werner, a previous million-dollar donor to the Kochs’ Freedom Partners super PAC, kicked in $1.5 million on July 1. Individuals from several energy, timber, pipeline, and coal companies have given at least $100,000 each to the PAC.
Judicial Crisis Network
The Judicial Crisis Network’s leading role in the communications push to confirm Trump’s nominees has been funded recently through some $30 million received between July 2018 and June 2019, led by a $15.9 million donation from an anonymous donor, according to IRS records reviewed by the Daily Poster. JCN is organized as a “social welfare” nonprofit and is not required to disclose the identities of its donors.
In 2017, a secret donor behind a $17 million gift readied JCN for the Kavanaugh confirmation showdown, providing over three-fourths of the total amount it received that year. Together in the efforts to confirm Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch in 2017, JCN was estimated to have laid out $22 million.
Three additional groups on the right have said they’ll be spending money on efforts to confirm Barrett: anti-abortion nonprofit Susan B. Anthony List, conservative nonprofit Catholic Vote, and conservative, anti-LGBT nonprofit think tank American Principles Project. The Susan B. Anthony list has reported raising a bit over $1 million to its PAC this cycle from hundreds of donors giving $5,000 and below, while its non-profit arm received over $12 million in funding according to its most recent Form 990, for 2018.
Millions More Spent on State Judicial Races
While the Supreme Court hears cases involving lower courts’ rulings on consumer lawsuits and government regulations, the conservative groups pushing Trump’s nominees have also spent millions to influence state judicial races.
A December 2019 report by the nonpartisan policy institute Brennan Center for Justice, titled “The Politics of Judicial Elections, 2017–18,” noted that JCN quietly spent $3.8 million on state elections in those years. After JCN donated nearly $1 million last year to the Republican State Leadership Committee, a national 527 group dedicated to electing Republicans to state office, the RSLC transferred $1.2 million to the Judicial Fairness Initiative, which works as an effort under the RSLC to elect conservative state judges. In the 2018 election cycle, the Judicial Fairness Initiative received over $4.3 million from RSLC, according to IRS records compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics.
The Brennan Center tracked how in 2013-14, JCN sent half a million dollars to Wisconsin Club for Growth, which spent money that cycle for the successful reelection campaign of conservative Justice Patience Roggensack. In May, during oral arguments in front of the Wisconsin Supreme Court regarding a stay-at-home order issued by the state health department, Justice Roggensack appeared to downplay the importance of some cases by contrasting the workers at a meatpacking plant who had been exposed to a coronavirus outbreak with “the regular folks in Brown County.” She then joined the majority on the state Supreme Court in a 4-3 decision to strike down the order, which was supported by Democratic Gov. Tony Evers.
The Judicial Ads Act, introduced in the Senate on July 2 by Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), would bring transparency to secretive groups like those that blasted out ads promoting Kavanaugh’s confirmation. The bill would require any group spending at least $50,000 in a year on federal judicial nomination advertisements to disclose the identity of any donor giving $5,000 or more. Recently introduced in a House version as well by Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) and Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.), the measure is supported by the nonpartisan watchdog Campaign Legal Center. It could be taken up by Congress next year—most likely, if Democrats take control of the Senate—as part of the next version of H.R. 1, the For the People Act, a sweeping ethics package passed by the Democratic House in March 2019 that is not supported by any Republicans in Congress.”

He hadn’t realised it because he’d been so caught up in packing and saying goodbye to everyone but now that it’s over he remembers his self-imposed countdown was meant to be up by now. It’s the end of the school year and five months ago, he thought he’d be dead by now.
Instead he has a team and a future and a home and Andrew.

Westside Gunn - Pray For Paris ALBUM REVIEW
For the past 4 years, it seems like every year has been a Griselda takeover. Westside Gunn, Conway and Benny The Butcher put out at least 5 projects a year between the 3 of them and they really are one of the prime examples of consistency in Hip Hop. You know what you’re gonna get from these guys: bars on bars on bars over dirty boom bap beats. While these guys stay true to the Buffalo sound that they created, they do have projects that sound different. I can definitely understand some of the criticism about a lot of their songs sounding the same as my biggest complaint about Flygod Is An Awesome God was that it sounded too similar to other songs in Westside Gunn’s extensive catalog. You know what you’re gonna get every time with Griselda and that’s not a bad thing at all. It would be kind of weird if Westside decided to do an Awaken, My Love! or a Rebirth. They know what their fans want and they are guaranteed to deliver. The debut Griselda album on Shady Records, WWCD, consisted of no sampling on the production which is bold for a group that uses samples almost exclusively for their beats. Westside Gunn prides himself in how quickly he can make great music and the inspiration behind his latest album, Pray For Paris happened to him not too long ago. A few months ago, Westside Gunn finally was approved to travel outside the country because he’s a convicted felon and one of his first stops was Paris for Paris Fashion Week. He was so inspired by the his trip to Paris, he started recording what was set to be an EP but turned out to be an album. I’ve been to Paris and I can see how some of the songs could have been inspired by Paris. I’ve noticed this on WWCD and Hitler Wears Hermes 7 but I didn’t fully think about it until I heard Pray For Paris that the beats are a lot more polished and sound mastered differently from the earlier Griselda classics. I’ve heard Westside rap over piano beats like George Bondo and French Toast before on songs like Lookin Like The Greatest, 94 Ghost Shit, and Eric B but these two beats have something two them that sounds a lot more expensive. The song Allah Sent Me reminded me a bit of Dinner Plate from Hall & Nash. Some beats on this album sound like classic Griselda but I don’t think I have ever heard Westside Gunn rap over a beat like Euro Step before. That song was fucking sick. There wasn’t much to that beat but it was super dope. Westside has some pretty historic collabs on this album as well. 327 has features from both Joey Bada$$ and Tyler, The Creator. In my CJ Fly review, I expressed wanting to have more Pro Era & Griselda collabs so this was a dream come true. Also, Odd Future were on MTV once many years back and FaceTimed Joey Bada$$ when he was still in High School so it’s cool to see it come full circle on this song. The beat is super laidback and before any of them started rapping, I could picture all 3 of them spitting on it. Joey Bada$$ killed it and Tyler hasn’t rapped like this probably since Cherry Bomb. I was glad to see Wale on this album because Wale can actually rap. Maybe we’ll see a wrestling-themed collab with Westside, Wale and Smoke DZA one day. One of the songs I was hyped for when I saw the tracklist was $500 Ounces with Freddie Gibbs and Roc Marciano and it did not disappoint at all. Much like what I said about 327, this song has one of those beats that is perfect for all 3 rappers. I’m surprised this is the first time we’re hearing Gibbs and Westside and Gibbs and Roc. Versace has a beat so soulful, it would have made a perfect Amherst Station 4. I was excited to hear the drop from Raw Is Flygod on Claiborne Kick as that is one of the most underrated WSG songs. For those who don’t know, Raw Is Flygod is a 14-minute track that Westside dropped a while back. I don’t think Westside Gunn has deepened his voice like that since Suede Mutumbos from HWH1 but I think it was to give Boldy James his shine. Westside Gunn and Boldy James first linked up last year on It’s Possible from HWH7. The first time I heard Boldy James was in 2013 and he has the perfect voice for rapping. I’ve kept tabs on his music since then but this year, he really reached his full potential this year with his second Alchemist collab album, The Price Of Tea In China. It is rumored that Boldy has signed to Griselda, making him the only artist not from Buffalo on the label but that is great news if it is true because it seems like Boldy is only now unlocking his potential even though he’s been at it for a while. Not too long ago, Griselda also signed Buffalo rapper Armani Caesar but I was wondering why she isn’t on the song. Keisha Plum of course is on Pray For Paris to deliver one of her fantastic poems. In addition to his feature on 327, Tyler, The Creator also produced Party Wit Pop Smoke has such a dope beat. I could picture Tyler spitting on this and I could picture Westside sounding good on various beats that Tyler has made like Rusty, Pigs, A Boy Is A Gun, Smuckers, Buffalo and Bimmer. Alchemist, Daringer and Camouflage Monk produced on the album like usual and DJ Premier produced Shawn vs. Flair which features some of the best rapping from WSG on the entire album. I was thinking about that as I listened to the whole album and I know Westside raps great on every project he’s put out but on some projects you can tell he’s putting in more effort to rhyme and have dope punchlines and this is one of those projects. Pray For Paris is probably Westside Gunn’s best release since Supreme Blientele and also the first time anyone has had tap dancing on a Hip Hop album before. What’s so crazy is that this album is so great but it’s only Westside’s first offering scheduled for the year. He is going to be putting out his Shady Records debut in June or July, dropping Hall & Nash 2 with Conway on September 11, dropping Hitler Wears Hermes 8 on Halloween like usual, and dropping his Madlib collab Gunnlib in December. That’s not even mentioning what Conway and Benny have stored for us this year. I hope Westside Gunn gets to travel more so he can make more dope music like this inspired by his travels because the music is that fucking great.

As mass shootings rise, experts say high-capacity magazines should be the focus
By Griff Wittes | Published August 18 at 6:23 PM ET | Washington Post | Posted August 19, 2019 7:45 AM ET |
It took a shooter all of 32 seconds to spray 41 rounds outside a popular bar in Dayton, Ohio, this month, an attack that killed nine people and injured 27. A lightning-fast response from nearby officers prevented a far higher toll: When police shot him dead, the killer still had dozens of bullets to go in his double-drum, 100-round magazine.
The use of such high-capacity magazines was banned in Ohio up until 2015, when a little-noticed change in state law legalized the devices, part of an overall rollback in gun-control measures that has been mirrored in states nationwide.
With the pace of mass shootings accelerating — and their tolls dramatically increasing — criminologists and reform advocates are more intently focused on limiting access to such accessories as one of the most potent ways to curb the epidemic.
Restrictions on the capacity of bullet magazines will not stop mass shootings, but they could make the attacks less deadly, giving potential targets precious seconds to escape or fight back while the shooter reloads, experts say.
“The high-capacity magazine is what takes it to a whole other level of carnage,” said David Chipman, who served 25 years as a special agent for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. “It’s the primary driver for why we’re seeing more mass shootings more regularly.”
Chipman, who now serves as a senior policy adviser for Giffords, a group that advocates for gun control, said banning the devices “does seem like a logical policy choice if you’re trying to stop a killer from turning into a killing machine.”
The odds that Congress or state legislatures will act still appear relatively remote. Powerful gun rights lobbying groups, including the National Rifle Association, vigorously oppose high-capacity magazine bans or limits, arguing that criminals will find a way to obtain the devices regardless of the law, just as they do with weapons. Would-be killers, they say, can always arm themselves with multiple weapons or magazines, effectively skirting any ban.
A man in Philadelphia held police at bay for seven hours Wednesday with an arsenal of weapons and ammunition that, as a felon, he should not have been able to have at all; he shot and injured six police officers before surrendering, and authorities have said it was a “miracle” that no one died in the shootout.
Still, a growing body of evidence suggests that past federal and current state-level restrictions on magazine capacity have been effective. And with high-capacity magazines becoming a staple of mass shootings, experts have an ever-longer litany of case studies to bolster their argument.
Magazines like the one used in Dayton have little utility in hunting, law enforcement or self-defense. But high-capacity devices, which are readily available online and in stores, have been used in more than half of all mass shootings in recent years, including especially deadly attacks in Las Vegas, Sutherland Springs, Tex., and Parkland, Fla. Taken together, those three attacks from October 2017 to February 2018 claimed 101 lives and injured 459 people at an outdoor concert, in a church and inside a public high school.
They were also used in the 2011 Tucson shooting of then-Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), for whom Chipman’s group is named. That attack was interrupted when the shooter, who was using a 33-round clip, stopped to reload and fumbled the fresh ammunition. A bystander seized the chance, clubbing him in the back of the head with a folding chair while another tackled him to the ground.
With smaller-capacity magazines, said Robert Spitzer, a State University of New York at Cortland professor who has written five books on gun policy, “you could still do bad things. But not nearly to the same scale.”
Studies have bolstered the view that a ban could have an impact.
Magazines with a capacity of more than 10 bullets were prohibited from 1994 to 2004 under federal law that included a prohibition on assault weapons. But since the law lapsed, gun crimes involving high-capacity semiautomatic weapons have increased markedly, research conducted by George Mason University criminologist Christopher S. Koper found.
A Washington Post analysis in 2011 came to a similar conclusion, finding that the percentage of firearms equipped with high-capacity magazines seized by police agencies in Virginia dropped during the decade covered by the federal ban, only to rise sharply once the restrictions were lifted.
In more recent research, to be published in the coming months, Koper and his colleagues have found promising signs about the potential for large-capacity-magazine prohibitions and their ability to yield reductions in mass-shooting deaths and injuries.
Boston University professor Michael Siegel has found that states limiting the size of magazines are less likely to experience a mass shooting. Nine states and the District of Columbia have such bans on the books, with most limiting magazines to 10 bullets.
Until 2015, Ohio had its own restrictions, capping magazines at 30 bullets. But the Republican-dominated state legislature erased those rules as part of a broader package of changes aimed at loosening gun laws.
“They just slipped it through,” said Cecil Thomas, a Democrat in the Ohio Senate. Following the Dayton attack, Thomas and other Democrats are pushing for new limits.
Thomas, a 27-year veteran of the Cincinnati Police Department, said he had to worry as an officer that, with a 15-round clip and one in the chamber of his pistol, criminals would outgun him. “My little nine-millimeter would be useless against an AR-15,” he said, referring to his standard-issue handgun and a high-powered rifle that has proved popular among mass killers.
The Dayton shooter’s killing rampage — carried out with a large magazine and other equipment obtained from a friend — has only deepened Thomas’s conviction that the laws need to be toughened. He said he hopes Republicans will be amenable to a change that would not infringe on the legality of guns themselves.
“I hear all the time from Republicans about the constitutional right to bear arms,” Thomas said. “I say ‘You can bear the arms. But I don’t know if you have the right to bear all the ammunition in the world.’ ”
There is precedent for accessory bans, even with pro-gun-rights Republicans in charge: The Trump administration last year banned bump stocks, the device that allowed the Las Vegas shooter to fire a semiautomatic rifle almost as fast as a machine gun.
In Ohio, however, there is little indication that a renewed magazine limit is viable. Republican Gov. Mike DeWine — who was greeted with cries of “Do something!” in his first appearance after the Aug. 4 Dayton attack — has proposed a range of measures that includes background checks and increased funding for mental health care.
A high-capacity-magazine ban is not among them. In a legislature dominated by Republicans — as well as some Democrats — who prize their ratings with the NRA, few dare defy the group, which calls magazines with more than 10 bullets “standard equipment for many handguns and rifles” and disputes findings that suggest limits can be effective.
“There’s not a shred of evidence that high-capacity-magazine bans work,” said NRA spokeswoman Catherine Mortensen. “Politicians ought to focus on solutions that keep guns out of the hands of dangerous criminals.”
The situation is similar at the federal level, where President Trump has expressed a willingness to work with Democrats on background checks. But he has said there is not sufficient “political appetite” for any bans — despite the fact that polls show a large majority of the public in favor. Republicans in Congress have echoed that view, with many recoiling even at the idea of stronger background checks.
Democrats on the presidential campaign trail have said they would prioritize the magazine issue if elected, and they have expressed incredulity that it has not been addressed.
“Who in God’s name needs a weapon that has 100 rounds?” former vice president and Democratic poll leader Joe Biden asked a crowd in Iowa. “For God’s sake.”
Whether anyone needs them, many people evidently want them. The NRA estimates that more than 250 million magazines with a capacity of 11 rounds or greater are in circulation. Of those, 100 million have a capacity of at least 30 rounds.
Gun experts say their popularity has undoubtedly grown as technology has advanced, making the devices lighter and less prone to jams.
A 100-round drum is still too heavy to make it useful for law enforcement or for self-defense, and it is not needed for hunting, said Rick Vasquez, a retired firearms officer and trainer for the federal government.
At the range where he and other professionals shoot, he said, he has never seen a 100-round magazine in use.
But to a certain demographic, the appeal is all about the image.
“You put it on your gun and take a YouTube video of yourself,” said Vasquez, who now runs Texas-based Active Crisis Consulting. “It looks really cool to the younger generation.”
At the online gun retailer Cheaper Than Dirt, where a drum similar to the one used in Dayton is on sale for $181.33, fun is what is emphasized.
“This 100 round drum magazine lets you shoot while your friends reload,” the seller boasts, noting that whether “stress relief or Zombie horde destruction fire this magazine lets the good times roll.”
Cheaper Than Dirt did not respond to a request for comment.
Even if a 100-round magazine is not particularly useful, Vasquez said, he believes there is little benefit in banning it. The Dayton shooter, he said, “wanted to create havoc. He could have done that with 30-round magazines, 20-round magazines or 10-round magazines. It didn’t matter.”
Gun-control advocates say that misses the point. And they say they suspect the real point for the gun industry in defending high-capacity magazines is that they are lucrative.
“They make a lot of money off these devices,” said Laura Cutilletta, who, like Chipman, pushes for gun control at Gifford. “They’re reluctant to let any law get in the way of their profit.”

Sorry if you already talked about this but I saw you talking about gun controls and how making them more expensive is a bad idea wich I think I agree with. But i was wondering what you think we should do to control guns and mass shootings? Mandatory background checks on all sales?
"Mass shootings" and "gun violence" are very distinct issues with very distinct solutions.
The enactings of mass shootings only have a few things in common. They are often committed by men with documented histories of violence against women. They are often committed in places with large gatherings of presumably unarmed people.
1. Solution number one would be to federally standardize definitions of domestic abuse. People with domestic abuse convictions are already legally barred from firearms ownership under federal law and have been for my entire lifetime. People saying otherwise are uninformed. BUT that definition is fairly strict, and does not always cover partners who do not live with the people they abuse. Get rid of that distinction (sometimes called the boyfriend loophole) and create a solid appeals process for those convicted. Federally prioritize domestic violence, maybe through allocation of funds. I hate the idea of giving cops literally any money, but for the most part they'll do whatever you'll pay them to do and you can turn their head in any particular direction with funding.
2. Make the ATF actually do its job. Anytime someone becomes a prohibited person (a felon - which is bullshit bc not all felonies are violent but ANYWAY- or convicted of a DV offense, etc) that person, if records are properly updated, is prevented from buying firearms at any store in the country. But nobody knocks on doors to remove the firearms of people who've just become prohibited persons. Whatever is in the house stays there. I think that's dumb as shit- in the case of the Aurora warehouse shooting that just happened this was a guy state police knew was not able to own guns, but nobody wanted to put a body on his doorstep to remove them. I think the definition of prohibited persons should be tightly narrowed to only include violent crime and domestic violence offenses, so that people aren't getting their guns confiscated over theft or license plate issues or other nonviolent offenses, and I think every single prohibited person should be able to appeal and regain their firearms rights. In the Aurora case, Illinois state police didn't want to risk sending a person or unit in. Fair enough. But people ended up dead because of that.
3. I think there is a case to be made that universal background checks COULD help here, to prevent people who can't buy guns at stores from just buying one from other citizens. But the reduction in deaths I think you could expect to see from UBC implementation would be really minimal, if anything- most mass shooters have either stolen or legally purchased their firearms after passing background checks. I suppose that, if the DV changes I talked about were implemented, more would be prohibited persons and would turn to the private market. I do not believe there is any way to ensure that background checks catch every single potential murderer and firmly do not believe the FBI (which runs the bg check electronically) should have any access to mental health records without a warrant.
For general violence, we already know exactly what reduces violence, and I do think it needs to be discussed not as gun violence but general violence, because that allows us to implement things we know work for violence overall. Guns aren't magic. They're just tools that can be used to commit violence. We know that giving people jobs (yes I am suggesting just giving, like candy) reduces their likelihood of engaging in violence of any kind. We know that poverty increases violence. All we need to do to drastically cut homicides is spend some money to lift people into more stable and I think that, over time, cultures that encourage or revel in violence will follow suit simply because those who did not grow up in violence are less likely to enact it.
Things I do not even kind of support:
-Bans on "assault weapons." The term means nothing but any semi automatic rifle, meaning any rifle that fires one round each time you pull the trigger. Those kinds of rifles can look like this
or like this
(those are all mine!) but they operate using 100 year old technology that is no different in concept from how a standard Glock pistol works. Pull the trigger, it goes bang. Pull it again, it goes bang again. Rifles in this category are excellent for any number of things and completely suitable for self defense. An AR-15 style firearm is my bedside/ home defense gun.
Even if this wasn't all true, consider this. AR-15s contribute REMARKABLY little to overall gun deaths in this country. We are talking a drop in the bucket- we are talking 322 people killed with rifles of ANY kind in 2012. Out of 13,000ish annual murders, that is remarkably small. So small that you are about 15 times MORE likely to be stabbed or bludgeoned to death (I'm linking the FBI numbers here directly) than killed with a rifle of any kind.
-Magazine capacity limits. They don't even make sense on their face. First of all it only takes on bullet to kill one person- is 10 deaths an acceptable number? Second of all, I am a relatively untrained shooter and fully self taught, and it takes me less than 2 seconds to drop an empty magazine from a rifle, load a new one, and fire another round. The California response to this is, well, make it harder to reload. Third of all, if I have a right to self defense with a firearm, then I have the right for that firearm to be functional, and MOST handgun malfunctions (talking in the context of concealed carry here) are due to magazine malfunctions. If I ever have to draw my handgun in defense of my life, I should be able to quickly fix any malfunctions. To put it simply, I believe I have the right not to be cobbled unduly in my own self defense. Fourth of all, considering that cops generally stand outside mass shootings waiting for things to die down (remember Pulse? Or Parkland?) the idea that the 2 seconds it takes to change magazines saves lives during assaults strikes me as ridiculous.
This notion that we can just get rid of the bad guns and keep the safe guns and all be safe is nonsense. Any gun can kill someone with one well-placed shot. Any person who owns a gun owns the means to do absolutely horrible violence to other people. These are things you have to reckon with in a society where private gun ownership is a right. I also think we need to be realistic about how low we can get our numbers. Let us assume that all 14,000ish people who were killed with firearms in the US in 2017 (to get that to work, organize results by year, then in the cause of death area click "injury intent and mechanism" and scroll in the box on the right to find FIREARMS) were killed using different firearms, so no mass shootings or double homicides, etc. Divide that by the sheer MASSIVE number of citizen owned guns in the country (a LOW estimate is 350 MILLION) and you're looking at .004% of all guns being used in murders. That alone should put this notion that the US is so astoundingly dangerous into context. For a nation with this many guns, and this level of easy access to guns, to have less than 15,000 murders using them per year should tell us that the very very vast majority of firearms owners are not harming anyone and therefore it literally only makes sense to tailor solutions to problems in a way that at least seems like it would work.
Few clarifying points here.
To be clear, I understand that the pro gun control instinct is to compare the US not to Brazil BEFORE lessening its guns laws (it still has stricter gun laws and a homicide rate a good 4 times higher than ours last I checked) but to the UK or Australia, etc, and not to compare homicides per firearm, but homicides using firearms per capita. This is nonsense because the number of firearms in those countries doesn't even come sort of close to the number here, and that number will not decrease but will only increase over time given the continuation of the 2nd Amendment as currently understood. Secondly, none of those countries have a right to firearms ownership and therefore many attempted solutions enacted there are literally not legally allowable here, just as total bans on private ownership of handguns except for competitors. Thirdly, the ownership of firearms themselves per capita does not come close in any of those countries to that here. I'm not denying that more guns probably means more deaths when comparing countries, though it does noy seem to mean more deaths between states in the US.
Another clarifying note, you will notice I am talking about homicides and cutting out suicides entirely. This is for two reasons. First of all I know absolutely nothing about suicide prevention from a policy perspective and don't even pretend to. If you have any good sources there I would love to check them out. Secondly, it allows me to talk about "gun violence," as in the use of firearms to commit violence between different individuals, more clearly. Thirdly, the very vast majority of the most popular gun control measures don't even claim to impact suicide rates because most gun control groups use those deaths (which comprise 66% of all deaths by firearm in the country, almost every single year) to pad their numbers while not actually talking about suicide as a phenomenon.
I hope this clarifies some things for you and if you have any questions please feel free to ask. I also typed this at 4 am after work so please excuse typos. I also hope that you understand I've picked sources supporting my argument because that's how arguments are supported, not because I'm not open to looking at all into opposing viewpoints.

Cheat on my dad? I ruin your life.
Just to be clear I'm not sure if what I did would be more suited for petty revenge, but the results are pro I think. Also this is looooong so tl;dr at bottom. I really didn't think I'd ever have material to post here so I'm a little excited.
So a little over a week ago I caught my dad's whore wife at a hotel pool with a man I'll call Steroid Douche or SD for short. Guess what they were doing. Hint: Not swimming.
See she and SD have some history. About a year ago she left my Dad for SD. This was just a mere six months after my father married her. So my dad let her go and started the divorce stuff . Unfortunately she came crawling back to him before the divorce could happen. She claimed SD beat her, SD doesn't love her, she made a mistake! So my dum dum Dad takes her back. Now here she is only 4 months later playing tonsil hockey with SD at a hotel pool when she should be at her office working. She didn't see my husband and I, so we took some super sweet pics and slipped outta there.
I'm not going to lie. I was super pissed. I was going to send the pics off to my Dad right then and there. However hubby and I decided that there was more that could and should be done.
Now I'll try to keep this brief, but there's something I need to add. My dad has supported this women and her children for years and she is not a cheap women to have around. She has only very recently gotten herself a job. A very nice one in fact. She is actually in the process of owning about 1/3 of the business. My sisters and I have speculated that this recent success might be because of extra marital activities with the fairly wealthy recently divorced business owner, who spontaneously took my Dad's wife under his wing. Ill call the business owner BO.
Now I had no proof that she was cheating on my dad with BO, only with SD . However I figured it wouldn't hurt to reach out to BO with my findings to see how he would react. Since she was supposed to be at work, she must of called off. So I called her office.
"Hi, this is tinamoe I'm calling about [whorey wife] is BO there?"
-- I should mention my dads wife pretended to be a loving stepmom( she's not). Well that also meant pretending to have a hard but endearing relationship with me. In fact her office is plastered in pics from Facebook of myself and family. So people in her office know who i am and didn't have any issue with transferring me to BO.---
BO: Hi tinamoe, is everything ok with [whorey wife]
Me: Well kind of, it depends. How close are you really with my dad's wife?
BO: Ex-Excuse me? (He totally stammered)
Me: Nevermind. Look I'm going to be straight with you. [Whorey wife] is out with SD when she should be there working.
Silence
Me: Hello?
BO: Why should I believe you. All you've done is lie about [whorey wife]
--- ya my dads wife is a permanent victim.
Me: Ill send you some pics i took.
BO: [email address]
I send the pics and get no response.
I decide to call SDs gym, which is also my gym. There's been a pretty awful rumor going around about SD. Apparently he's been selling steroids to fellow gym members. So I told them SD tried to sell me steroids there last week (this was lie). I told them I didn't feel safe going there anymore so I'd like to cancel my membership. They asked if I was going to go to the police and file a report, I told them no that SD was prone to anger and I didnt want to risk retaliation. They understood. Membership canceled. I know this seems irrelevant but this gym takes these kind of things seriously especially when a complaint results in an end of a membership. At the very least they will be looking to cancel his membership too.
So then finally after all that I send my Dad the pics I took of his wife with a long drawn out message about support and love and whatnot.
Now to the good part. Its been a week since I saw what I saw and did what I did. Here are the results of my half assed sabotage.
Whore wife lost her job, and any chance at being a co owner. BO trashed her shit in the office and actually made a huge scene. Which lead to a pretty nasty heavily detailed review on a local Facebook rant page from a customer that was in the establishment. Our town is pretty small so a review like that can be a bit damaging, and because of the contents it really hurt whore wife's image. Someone even shared a story about her husband having an affair with my Dad's wife 3yrs ago at her last job.
Wouldn't you know it SD had rented out a locker at the gym. Since the waiver you sign to rent a locker allows the gym to open your locker whenever they feel necessary, SD ended up getting his locker searched. What they found in the locker according to the police blotter, was a freaking unregistered hand gun. So poor SD is going to prison(probley). Yeah seriously great way to bullshit myself into a win. Did I mention hes a felon? HA, you can guess how that worked out for him. Bu-bye.
My Dads wife is now living in a hotel. Between the pics, BO firing her and then SD being sent away, my dad threw her ass out. She is super upset about SD. Hysterical to be more precise.
She refuses to come see her kids who are still living with my Dad. My Dad is being civil and trying to keep everything super calm for the them. She doesn't seem to care about my Dad or the kids at all tho. She did give me a call. I let it go to voicemail. I couldn't really make out what she said, but between the shrieks and sobbing I caught "I'm going to kill you" and "you ruined my life" I might get a restraining order idk yet. I'm kinda giddy about this. My Dad will hopefully start being happier.
TL;DR: I caught my dads wife cheating. So I got her fired from her job, got her boyfriend arrested(oops), and now she holed up in hotel.

On Oliver North and the Unification Church
Excerpt from Fall 1994 Covert Action issue:
A love match and a marriage of convenience all in one. Convicted liar and unconvicted traitor Oliver North is in bed with convicted felon and unconvicted brainwasher, Rev. Sun Myung Moon. North, miming as a Republican for the Senate from Virginia, has been cuddling up with the Korean industrialist and self-proclaimed messiah since 1987. During the Iran-Contra hearings, the American Freedom Coalition—founded by Bo Hi Pak, chief goon and number two man in Moon’s Unification Church—produced a $4 million pro-Ollie video that aired on over 100 stations. Far-right direct mail whiz Richard Viguerie also helped launch the "grassroots" AFC, and now operates out of a Moon-owned building. Recently chosen by North for the position of campaign strategist, Viguerie says he had no qualm about selling his soul to the Unification Church, which uses mind control to exploit cheap labor and plots to take over governments so Moon can rule the world. Meanwhile, North (who had already sold his soul for a facade of emetic sincerity), prefers to traffic in "security equipment." " Not an interested party, the rabid gun control opponent makes his living hawking bulletproof vests to police departments and others. His associate in the venture is ex-CIA Costa Rica station chief and Iran-Contra wheeler dealer, Joe Fernandez. On the up side, a Virginia circuit court judge, citing moral turpitude and "bad character"—as demonstrated by North's Irangate conviction—recently denied the senatorial hopeful the right to carry a concealed weapon.

CHASING DEMOCRACY:
The attack on the American voter.
BY: JB Hanna
_______________________________________________
"Now many of our Christians have what I call the 'goo-goo syndrome.' Good government. They want everybody to vote. I don't want everybody to vote. Elections are not won by a majority of people. They never have been from the beginning of our country, and they are not now. As a matter of fact our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down."
-Paul Weyrich 1968
TARRANT COUNTY TX.
In 1827, Edward E. Tarrant had established himself as a wealthy man, probably the wealthiest in all of Red River County. A veteran of the war of 1812, now a sheriff, he left his mark in Tarrant County Texas, the namesake of the former officer of the “fourth brigade.”
On September 29, 1843, Tarrant along with Texas state attorney general George Whitfield would draft The “Bird’s Fort Treaty.” Which surreptitiously states in Article XXIV, that; “The government of Texas has the right of working all mines that have been discovered or will be discovered on the territory of the Indians.”
Just as surreptitiously as the terms of Crystal Mason’s signed affidavit that stated she was not eligible to vote as a convicted felon, some hundred and seventy five years later in that same Tarrant County. Mason was on community service on November 8, 2016 for a her 2012 conviction on tax fraud. Only voting after the urging of her mother, Ms. Mason was sentenced to five years in prison on voter fraud charges, for a provisional ballet vote that was never counted.
Crystal Mason’s unfortunate miscarriage of justice is the oddity, not the model. The model being the strategy adopted by many incumbents on the right, while the left has historically supported voter registration initiatives, conservatives (since the voting rights act of 2013) have practiced down presser tactics with almost surgical precision. From good ol fashioned jerrymandring to voter caging and voter roll purges.
Stories like that of Crystal Mason, no matter how rare, are aggressively publicized and spun in efforts to paint a fanciful portrait of voter fraud gone wild. These trumped up horrors however, have never been substantiated.
Max Faulkner/Fort Worth Star-Telegram via Getty Images.
During the presidential campaign of 2016,
Vice President nominee, Mike Pence came under scrutiny from voter rights advocates when Indiana State police raided the voter registration office of Patriot Majority USA, in October of 2016. Indiana progressives called conspiracy on the would be VIce president.
The nonprofit Patriot Majority, had registered over 45,000 voters, mostly African American. Just one week from the voter registration deadline and 5,000 voters short of their 50,000 target at the time of the raid. Founded in 2005, PM was accused of registering voters twice, in addition to applications that had missing or unverified zip codes and addresses. This is often a problem with grassroots voter registration initiatives staffed by everyday citizens, the lack of experience, training, and in many cases, after work hours by constituents looking to supplement their income, have always bore such inconsistencies. Though well meaning, these efforts give way to questionable voter registration applications, that ones opponent will rightfully pounce.
When you open Patriot Majority’s web sight, the home page is striking. Waves of red and white stripes, the famous Washington crossing the Delaware painting emblazoned on the header. With the current political climate, rife with its suede patriotism and the far lefts deepening dive into a socialist creed, one might expect Patriot Majorities home page to spawn links to diatribes of pro gun advocacy and states rights. But PM claims to be a bipartisan movement. While it seems that the issue is the shotty work of some canvassers, Common Cause Indiana and the NAACP have filed a federal lawsuit against Marion County of Indian after the raid on charges of voter suppression by closing early voting in a sector with over 700,000 registered voters. Former Indiana governor mike Pence, now ironically, head of the Elections Integrity Commission, boasts “What is historic here is that our president-elect won 30 to 50 states. He won more counties than any candidate on our side.
The Georgia State showdown
Georgia’s Democratic candidate for governor Stacey Abrams finds herself in a historical yet tight race in Georgia’s gubernatorial midterms. The Gulfport native faces off against opponent Brian kemp, the self proclaimed “politically incorrect conservative.” The cautionary view in mid August was that Kemp could have a strong surge in the last two months leading to the peach state showdown, much like Nathan Deal in 2014. But as of reporting, the race is still in a dead heat. Kemp has been mocked for his ads that some on the left liken to a Dave Chapelle or SNL skit. But while democrats laugh, Brian Kemp is practicing more “politics as usual” than his campaign readaric may assert. Kemp’s influence on voter registration as Secretary of State should be no laughing matter to democrats.
The heat was on as the summer closed out in Randolph County Georgia, a sort of patient zero for the National attention to suspected voter suppression. The Georgia county quickly beat back a move to close seven of nine polling places in the historically black canton. But the victory, while sweet, is little to stop the suppression of voters in the rest of the state. Like Tarrant in Texas, Randolph county is named after another slave owning statesman, Ol’ John Randolph of Roanoke. A career politician who also served as prosecutor of the associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, Samuel Chase on charges of impeachment. Chase would later be acquitted by the senate. Roanoke famously stated,
“The most delicious of all privileges, spending other people’s money.” Might be proud of his states insidious politico operandi.
Several groups, including the Georgia Democratic Party, Common Cause and the NAACP, have called on Kemp to step down from his position as secretary of state while he runs for Governor.
Greg Palast, the New York based investigative journalist and author of the compelling
The best democracy money can buy, has been hunting down Kemp and also, Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach for the past several months. Armed with a Federal subpoena accusing Kobach of purging hundreds of thousands of Kansans from the voting rolls. Like his counterpart in Georgia, as Secretary of State, Kobach has oversight of the states voter rolls and similar to Brian Kemp of Georgia, Kobach has also successfully closed polling stations in low income counties as well.
As Carol Anderson of the New York Times put it, “Brian Kemp is a master of voter suppression.” For example, Kemp made a statement in 2014 regarding another lawsuit his office faced regarding over 40 thousand names of voters disappearing from the Georgia voting rolls. The Secretary of State emphasized that “The lawsuit filed by 3rd sector development, is frivolous and totally without merit. The claim that there are over forty thousand unprocessed voter registration applications, are false.” Kemp went on to contravene with the 6,525 voter applications his office found had issues of no longer being with us, had no valid date of birth, where convicted felons or provided no county or address. ( some states report day of birth instead of DOB, which substantially increases the chance of two records being reported for the same person.)
Kemp also provided a Potboiler about an application filled out by, Johnny B Cool, who’s city was listed as, Yo’ Town. While this smacks of incompetence of the registrating body or the voting applicant themselves, it seems a stretch to think that a political scenic, who would name themselves Johnny B Cool who Haile’s from Yo town would be a tactical move that any well minded voter fraud conspirator would employ. But the great voter fraud conspiracy rolls on. Kemp, by the way,
Was found to be guilty of voter suppression in 2014.

LOCKED AND LOADED
Prior to Shelby v Holder, (2013) Texas, along with the several other Jim Crow states had coordinated a preemptive lockout of minority, elderly and millennial prospective votes in anticipation of provisions 4 & 5 of the voting rights act being overturned. The first domino to fall was that unsuspecting, overlooked little Diddy called Northwest Austin Municipal Utility District No. 1 v. Holder, or the MUD case. The stories of out of town voters using the address of a local motel to vote illegally, harassment of MUD’s minority community and a strange cloud of mystery preceding the Shelby v. Holder decision, stains the “Municipal Utility District,” just north of Austin.
That was 2009, and four years later, Shelby county found it unconstitutional for the federal government to suppress their ability to molest the Hispanics, black, elderly and young voting populous. The Supreme Court would concede that, “voting discrimination still exists; no one doubts that.” But the 5-4 decision of the highest court in the land would contradict their own logic by wiping away the voting rights act protection of historically disenfranchised constituents, specifically articles 4 and 5.
But back in Tarrant Texas, and many other counties in the Lone star state, there’s been a battle raging to oppress voter turnout since voting became public freewill. Ted Cruz and Beto O’Rourke are in the mezzo of a 12 round barn burner as the country tumbles towards it’s midterms like a radioactive meteor with no direction. Could it be, the land of steers could finally be done with Ted Cruz? Or is Beto’s hype just that? Progressive turnout or conservative suffragist subterfuge may answer these questions.
And yet, one of the few cases of actual voter fraud, ironically in that same state of Texas, is more doleful than relevant. Crystal Mason began her five year sentence for voter fraud in September. After being walked through the provisional ballet process by a state appointed election official, she still stands condemned by adjudication. Alison Grinter, of Mason’s legal team explained, “the federal government has stepped over the state and found Crystal guilty of violating the law.”
In august an 11 year old child hacked a Florida electronic ballet in this years DEFCON 26,
The annual hacking convention held this year in sandy Las Vegas. Emmett Brewer and 30 other kids ranging in age from 8 - 16 years old where all able to hack Florida’s faulty system. The national association of Secretaries of State responded to DEFCON with one of many proclamations in their
(Long comment regarding a proposed Exemption under 17 U.S. code 1201)
The senate stated to ES&S, the countries largest supplier of voting machines;
“Currently there are significant barriers that prevent states from working with independent, qualified, good faith researchers to conduct cyber security on election systems.”
Now it seams, after the midterms, ES&S May have to deal with not just the Senate but the people.
But the talk is done. Bluster deflated. Red and Blue candidates enter November 6th like combatants on the world stage. Like heavyweight champions with the future of democracy on the line. I’ll be watching the fight on November 6th just like Crystal Mason.
Hoping the country does right by its future.

What are the pros and cons of a trust?
In the past the only folks using trusts were those with large NFA collections. It was a way for them to organize, use and keep safe their investments. Most one or two NFA purchases were done as individuals. Over the past 15 years more and more CLEO's were choosing to not sign off on the Form 4's or took forever to sign off. The only other option for a non friendly CLEO was to go with a trust. Trusts gained in popularity because once you had it you did not need to bother with prints or pictures and everyone on the trust could use the item. This lead the ATF to question the trust process and realize there could be felons or others not legally able to own firearms on trusts and at minimum individuals on trusts who were not getting background checks. This lead ultimately to 41F. 41F now dictates that all responsible parties on trusts must provide a filled out and signed form 5320.23 along with finger prints and photos for every trust purchase. So if you have 5 responsible individuals on your trust all must fill out the form and provide pics and prints. 41F also made it easier for individuals by eliminating the CLEO signoff. Now the SOT dealer just sends a notify copy to the CLEO.So in a nutshell it is now harder and still more expensive to use a trust and easier for an individual. As an individual you just bring your prints and pictures to the dealer and fill out the Form 4 and wait.Pros and Cons for each IMO are:Trust Pros- anyone on the trust can have in their possession and use any trust owned NFA item- the trust can have clear legal definitions of ownership, investment, buy-ins/outs and transfers of NFA items.Trust Cons-cost-having all responsible parties fill out forms, prints and pictures for every purposeIndividual Pros-super easy and fast-less expensiveIndividual Cons-the owner must be in possession at all times - anyone can use the item as long as the owner is present-more ambiguous when it comes to transfer/ownership upon death- DANCO411
There you have it. Keep in mind i dont personally own any of my NFA stuff.. my shop does. and because of that myself and my business partner skip alot of hassle. Now when i start my personal taxed collection it will be individual stuff for cans and maybe an SBR but Machine guns and rare shit i feel should be on a trust.
so think about it that way.

Immigrants:
Why dont immigrants come to the United States legally? Are illegal immigrants taking American jobs? The illegal immigrants are like termites. They are eating at the grain that should go to the poor; they are taking our jobs. By Amit Shah. What should the United States do with the illegal immigrants already in the country? And Should they be allowed citizenship? The truth is, immigrants tend to be more American than people born here. By Chuck Palahniuk. Even though immigrants help to boost the economy., My opinion is it has a negative impact on the United States because the undocumented immigrants add to the population and the threat of terrorism and crimes. Immigrants help to boost the economy; they still have to purchase goods in order to survive, and on all of these goods they are required to pay taxs which benefits the whole entire country. Some illegal immigrants who have succeeded in getting jobs in home care, restaurants and car shops pay the agency revenue. But doing so, having them somehow stay illegally allows them to compensate the government, one way or the other. Also, they have to open back accounts for their income and buy necessities like automobiles and houses to live in and to get around. The money and taxes they pay help the U.S. economy. Immigrants work for cheap pay and are a very hardworking people so they can bring in the income to bring back their families. Businesses can increase the population and also be able to reach their targeted goal because there was more than enough labor force. Another example that shows immigrants help to boost the economy is they bring in new perspectives, experiences, and ideas to their community and with the added diversification, there was more strength to be found with the community. They also start their new businesses, earn income, and even support others on the local level. This creates more profits which helps the economy. Every aspect of the American economy has profited from the contributions of immigrants. By JFK. Illegal immigrants can never be completely stopped, no matter how high the wall or how many patrol agents you have watching it. By Gail Collins. The population in the United States is always constantly and rapidly increasing; schools, governments systems, and many more public services are in a great burden and the more people that enter our country, the worse that the quality of those systems become. 3.5 percent of the entire population is made of illegal immigrants. Back in 2016, there was reports that 10.7 million undocumented immigrants and the numbers have tripled since 1990, when there were only 3.5 million in the United States. Another example that shows that undocumented immigrants add to the population is that there is one reason that so many undocumented immigrants are in the United states is some travel to a new country to become migrant or foreign workers while others wish to settle in as a permanent resident, with the goal that eventually they become a citizen. Also, it is difficult to immigrate with authorization; there are about 4 million immigrants on a waiting list to become citizens. Immigration is one of the leading contributors to population growth. By Paul Watson. People who are not thrilled with the illegal immigrants tend to complain with the increasing numbers of illegal immigrants and those with children as well adds to overcrowding buses and trains; as well as the students granted with scholarships which should have been given to the legal immigrants. It will help if immigrants who refuse to learn English that they need to go back to their own country. Every immigrant who comes here should be required within five years to learn English or leave the country. By Theodore Roosevelt. The most important reason my opinion is it has a negative impact on the United States is because of the threats of terrorism and crimes. Illegal immigration is crisis for our country. It is an open door for drugs, criminals, and potential terrorists to enter out country. It is straining our economy, adding costs to our judicial system, healthcare, and education systems. By Timothy Murphy. Every crime committed by an illegal alien is crime that should never have occurred and would never have occurred if the illegal alien were not in our country. By the Kansas Secretary, Bringing drugstheyre bringing crime, theyre rapists. By Donald Trump. Although not all immigrants are terrorists or bad people, there is some that come to the United States to havoc fear and to commit crimes such as drug-trafficking and illegal activities; also, there reports that more than a thousand cases of crimes are related to illegal immigrants. Another example that shows the threat of terrorism and crime is that there was a good amount of bombing and terrorist attacks in the early 20th century, most of them were committed by immigrants, socialists, and their followers. The deaths from terrorism thats committed by illegal or legal immigrants are greater that they were a century ago but is still low compared to the benefits of immigration. The criminal justice system should have the authority to determine the immigration status of all criminals, regardless of race or ethnicity, and report illegal immigrants who commit crimes to the federal authorities. By Susana Martinez, The gun control act of 1968 was an attempt to impose order. It set up the Federal Firearms License (FFL) system; gun stores would have to become licensed, and they would have to follow certain rules. Felons, illegal immigrants, and crazy people would be prohibited from buying guns. By Jeanne Marie Laskas. Over the years, thousands of Americans have been brutally killed by those who illegally entered out country and thousands more lives will be lost if we dont act right now. By Trump. There were 105,140 immigrants that ICE arrested back in 2018 who were convicted criminals, and 719 immigrants that were convicted was in Texas. So, it is clear that although immigrants help to boost the economy, my opinion is it has a negative impact in the United States. For two main reasons; first, undocumented immigrants add to the population, but most importantly the threat of terrorism and the crime rates. Why dont immigrants come to the United States legally? Well the United States doesnt allow people from many countries a legal pathway unless they have an immediate family or employer to sponsor them. Should Immigrants be allowed citizenship? Its said that the founders had a clear answer which was that immigrants who spent years building lives in this country deserved citizenship; they were also aware that by making new immigrants wait a long time for citizenship denied them the very rights that Americans just fought to claim for themselves. Are we rewarding them for breaking the rules, and encouraging more of the same? By granting immigrants who are here illegally a path to citizenship, we are essentially rewarding bad behavior and encouraging more of the same. If illegal immigrants want citizenship, theyd have to do three things: pay taxes, hold meaningful jobs, and learn English. By President Bush. So How did a nation if immigrants become a nation that hates immigrants? To that question we really never know. So, what if immigrants help create global markets, they also bring diseases from their country to ours and they cost the government money by being in the United States. we get uncontrolled immigration, which puts unsustainable pressure in our vital public services. By Boris Johnson, Illegal immigration costs the United States more than 200 billion dollars a year. By Trump. Work Cited: "9 Biggest Illegal Immigration Pros and Cons | FutureofWorking.com." The NRA is under siege by Cuomo and the New York State A.G., who are illegally using the State’s legal apparatus to take down and destroy this very important organization, & others. It must get its act together quickly, stop the internal fighting, & get back to GREATNESS - FAST! ... ....People are fleeing New York State because of high taxes and yes, even oppression of sorts. They didn’t even put up a fight against SALT - could have won. So much litigation. The NRA should leave and fight from the outside of this very difficult to deal with (unfair) State!

The New York Times has apologized for the terrible Anti-Semitic Cartoon, but they haven’t apologized to me for this or all of the Fake and Corrupt news they print on a daily basis. They have reached the lowest level of “journalism,” and certainly a low point in @nytimes history!

22 Former Burglars Give Tips For Protecting Your Home From Theft And Yourself From Murder
If you want to protect yourself from home invasions, no one gives better advice than these ex-burglars on Ask Reddit.
Unsplash / James Sutton
1. Always pick up your newspapers and make as much movement as possible
“I would check out a house several times over two days. If there was no sign of movement — no lights coming on or off, no curtains moved, newspapers left on the driveway — I was interested.
Is the house in a nice neighborhood? Is it well kept? If so I figured they had nice stuff.
Next question: Is there an easy escape route? Woods in the back yard were excellent.
Next question: Is there a window hidden from view that I can smash if I have to?” — very_large_ears
2. Don’t install doggy doors — but own a dog
“Open garages. Unlocked doors. Doggy doors. I was a small kid that was able to fit through a dog door, and probably had stolen the most valuable items right out of the garage. Leaving your keys in your unlocked car. Stacked newspapers. Dogs are the best deterrent; the louder the better.” — gmailatbrian
3. Get on good terms with your neighbors
“Drive through your neighborhood during daytime, late afternoon and nighttime hours. Do the neighbors even look out of their windows at me? Do they notice that a stranger is slowly cruising through their neighborhood? Are there people working on their lawns, walking the dogs, kids out playing? How are the houses physically secured? Do they have fences, gates, dogs, etc? Are the garages open with no garage doors? Can I see what’s inside? Tools, fancy cars, motorcycles, a door that leads INTO the main house via the garage?
The best neighborhoods are the ones that have neighbors who do not look out for each other. The ones where you can drive through and no one gives a rat’s ass that you are coming or going. Elderly neighbors are a plus, too. Also– is the neighborhood located near major freeways, onramps? Looking for escape routes should the cops come. Is there signage/stickers stating that the houses have alarms? Motion sensing lights?” — Executor21
4. Create a good relationship with the cops
“When people proudly advertise their security system. You can usually find a forum of people who’ve found the latest ways to crack the system. Also if they advertise being a gun owner without being a vet (I knew before I enlisted that veterans advertise their status and branch) that’s a solid target. Usually kept in an outdated safe by an owner who hardly knew how to use it let alone be able to control nerves from affecting things like trigger control or aligning their sights. You could always sell a gun for more cash as jewels or a laptop if you has the right connections.
I never tried neighborhoods with an active watch, usually meant any targets had a good relationship with the cops and any calls would be handled with a lot more care. Also I’d never rob a place with a dog, especially a pit bull, rottweiler or German Shepherd from the pound.
Drug dealers were a natural target for home invasion if you had the confidence. Crowbar open the door and put the main occupant on their ass. Once they see you’re not a junky and have every intention to kill them if they don’t listen to you they usually give up solid cash and/or flashy valuable’s you can pawn by going to a county and hour or two away. They can’t really call the cops and draw attention to themselves.” — Kreacher999
5. Live close to an active road filled with cars
“Some things that make you a target are how often you’re home and how easy it looks to get into your house without being seen or heard. I’ve never broken into a house with people actively living there, though I do go looting abandoned/private vacation properties more than I should and that’s a huge tip off. A big deterrent I found is dogs, open spaces, and how active the closest road is at night. There was one place me and a few friends had a night at that had absolutely no one driving on the road past 11 (dirt road in a small town) and trees completely surrounding the property. In the eyes of a thief it’s asking to be messed with.” — Wi_Tozzi
6. Buy motion sensing flood lights for outside your front doors
“Motion sensing flood lights outside.
No big bushes in front of windows where someone could hide. Thorned bushes are always good for under windows, if you keep them close enough.
A dog is nice.
If you can’t afford an alarm and security cameras, fake cameras and alarm contacts on windows can be a deterrent, hopefully. Better to just get the real thing. Remember any security footage could possibly be obtained and used against you if something goes down. If you do shady things, cameras could be a bad idea.
Dead bolt locks on all exterior doors. Keyed outside and inside if there’s windows in or next to the door… but then only take the key out when nobody is home, for fire safety.
If you aren’t always home at night, get a few timers for lamps inside.
Pro level:
Get a cheap tv. Like a shitty CRT 13 inch that nobody wants. Put it in a cabinet or wall unit type thing, so you can close the door to hide it when guests come over. Put it on a timer to stay on until very late, and set a light timer in a bedroom to come on when it goes off.
Install vertical blinds on a window across from the tv. Vertical blinds are great, because you can angle them for a very limited view, so the house looks less closed up and more inhabited. Anyway, in this case, angle the blinds so you can clearly see the shit tv, but nothing else in the room. Set volume so you can just barely hear it outside.
This does two things: the light and sound make it seem like someone could be home. And, a thief may look in, see the old 13 incher and just be like damn this dude’s stuff sucks, I’m going somewhere else.” — 420_inject_it
7. Keep all of your electronics up to date
“I stuck with commercial burglary, residential burglary carried a risk of getting hit with a home invasion charge which increases your sentence if convicted (not to mention, you run the risk of getting shot by some redneck with a spring-loaded magnum under every flat surface in the house).
Anyway, I’d pick places based on the upkeep of their equipment. If the cash register was out of date, so was their camera system. If the clerk leaves the register open a crack while they’re behind the counter, that means the safe is likely open in the back room.
It also helps to hit the places that hire felons (fast food joints, video stores, etc.) because the cops are gonna waste a lot of time looking into the staff members who have a criminal history. The closer they’re looking at them, the better off I am.
Of course, this was ~15 years ago, things change.” — DownvotePlusSoulTrap
8. Put up signs that announce you have an alarm
“Turn on exterior lights. Have an alarm sign in front yard. Alarm stickers on windows. Barking dog.
I’d skip that house.” — someGUYwithADHD
9. Don’t post about your vacation on social media
“Don’t post anything on social media until you have gotten back home. I can’t tell you how many neighbors and family have gotten robbed because of this.” — SecPhase
10. Be careful with who you surround yourself with
“I’m not answering the question directly, but I am answering it indirectly:
The vast majority of burglaries are perpetrated by people who have been inside your home before
This is very important to realize. When you have guests over that you don’t know well (maybe at a Halloween party), lock all of the doors to bedrooms, and don’t have anything super valuable just laying out to show. Most of the time they won’t take anything during the party, but they will come back later… with friends.” — Hakib
11. Leave the radio on while you’re gone
“Young redditors may not have heard of this thing; it’s called ‘radio’. Leave a talk station on when you’re out. No burglar’s gonna come in if he hears voices, unless it’s a home invasion. Leave a light on, doesn’t matter if you put a timer on it or not. Just a low level light, like it’s a night light for going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. A dog is another big plus. Hard for anyone to get past a dog in the dark. They don’t need to see you to bark and bite you. Have never been burglarized, ever, and I’m 67 years old. That is all.” — songsearch
12. Put screws into your door frames to make them sturdier
“Consider putting 3-1/2″ screws into your door frame to make it stronger, and to make kicking it in that much harder. You can also look into metal door frames, metal doors, and security doors that have locks that come out of the top and bottom of the door when operated.” — CrashedWindows95
13. Erect a US flag in front of your home
“Listened to a KFI radio interview when I lived in Los Angeles. Former anonymous burglar said he avoided houses that hung the U.S. flag. Said it told him the occupants likely owned at least one firearm. Would avoid even if it looked as though no one was home.” — Drummerdoggie
14. Never forget to lock your doors and windows
“This guy I went to high school with did an interview where he talked about his former addiction and how he used to rob people. It’s creepy as all hell. He said that he used to just try to find an unlocked entrance and then take only some of the money/jewelry/valuables he’d find because then people would most likely think they merely misplaced or miscounted whatever was missing and he could hit the same house multiple times.
So, yeah, always lock your doors and windows. Even if you live in a small town or are just popping out for a minute to go to the store.” — Paranoidas
15. Adopt a medium to large sized dog
“I’m not a burglar, but I worked for the largest security company in this country for half a decade.
Burglar alarms do not deter burglars. They just alert you that you have been burglarized. Most of the time the police will take very little action in response due to the fact that 98% of burglar alarm activation constitute false alarms.
The sign that comes with the alarm though? That thing is worth more than the alarm as far as deterring burglars.
My job was to take reports from customers who had been burglarized. (see my first point above)
In all my time doing these interviews and I never interviewed one single burglary victim who owned a medium sized or large sized dog. Not one single time.
That is not to say that no one who owns a dog ever gets burglarized.
I’m just saying that in 5 years of spending 8 hours a day interviewing people who had been, not one single time did I encounter the situation.
I think there is at least SOME statistical validity in that.
A big fucking dog is the best burglary deterrent you can possibly have. Better than burglar alarms, signs, guns or expensive locks.” — rottinguy
16. Leave a large pair of work boots beside the door
“One thing on Reddit I read was that having a pair of large work boots on the porch next to the door can deter burglars (unless they know you). It basically says ‘Someone is home right now, it its possibly a big dude who can hurt you.'” — dougiebgood
17. Keep the bathroom light on whenever you’re gone
“In the autobiography of Malcolm X, he said that if he went to a house, and the bathroom light was on, he didn’t go in. Said something like ‘a guy in the bathroom could come out anytime’” — ohazltn
18. Buy a blinking LED for your car’s dashboard
“Not a burglar, but a guy who is paranoid about keeping his shit from being stolen….
Buy a $3 blinking LED (from ebay) and install it on top of your car’s dash. Especially a blue one as that screams fancy aftermarket alarm. Keeps the neighborhood 3am car-hoppers away.
Car-hopping is basically what little shithead kids do. They walk around neighborhoods and apartment complex parking lots trying car door handles to see if any are unlocked so they can steal anything they can inside. Some are not above breaking into a locked vehicle if they spy a purse, backpack or something else theft-worthy within sight. I’ve read that 3am is THE optimal time to hit an apartment complex parking lot.” — dirtymoney
19. Keep all of your windows shaded
“Not a burglar, but when I drive to work in the evening when it is dark…. I can’t tell you how many big-screen TVs I can see through large unshaded windows in people’s homes. They are just advertising.
I keep all my windows shaded. Also, I don’t have any big screen TVs. I prefer smaller TVs that are closer to me (within a few feet) instead of a giant tv that is across the room.” — dirtymoney
20. Keep your eyes open wide around the rain
“Haven’t seen anyone say a good burglar will rob you when it’s raining. The rain masks sounds when you’re breaking into a garage. I had my garage broken in during torrential rain, all tools stolen, didn’t hear a thing and either did my dog that sleeps outside.” — FendaIton
21. Create steps leading up to your front door
“I have to assume that the 18 steps up from street level are at least some deterrent. We don’t even get Jehovah’s witnesses.” — TacticalLeemur
22. Surround your driveway with bright lights
“When I was young and dumb I would boost rims off cars, cause you could make quick money and it was less then a felony. The number one deterrent hands down… lights. If a place is lit up like a Christmas tree on the outside of a house you stay clear cause it means anyone can see you and see you clearly.” — bluetoothkid
