I hadn’t fully thought through the details until I was asked about this. It was definitely a great ask. I’m really excited about the asks that are still pending in my inbox.

When I get chapter nine arranged, I’m going to get back to answering more questions!

I can't stop rereading Lloyd and Princess together!

I got some questions if thats ok, don't answer if don't want to

1. Did Lloyd like the reader the second he met her or was it gradual?

2. Did the reader ever like him before? Or their hooking up created the flame of desire?

3. Has Lloyd ever been in a relationship before?

4. Has he ever been in love?

5. When he was drinking was he mad that the reader was that she wasn't really into him and she needed to be numbed in order to interact with him?

Thank you for this ask! It inspired me to write a historical chapter about how Lloyd and Princess first met, which should answer a lot of your questions. But I wanted to go through and reply to them one by one.

How the Princess Met the Lawyer

2. She hated him at first because of how he treated her coworkers, but later realized he wasn’t all bad. When they finally met, the first impression they made on each other was pretty bad. (It was a mutually negative experience, which they find amusing in retrospect.)

There was always a spark, particularly for Princess. She felt something for Lloyd but was cautious because she valued her relationship with him too much. Also, three years ago when they first met, she was intimidated by Lloyd’s reputation. With that said, who can ignore that shredded body and those crystal blue eyes? She has hormones just like any red-blooded woman.

Another factor that prevented her from making a move was the knowledge that Lloyd had a lot of emotional baggage. She didn’t think he was ready for a relationship with anyone. Insecurity factored in as well, because she knew she didn’t have the experience to play on the same field as him in a romantic relationship. Princess is too much of a diva to tolerate an imbalance of power for very long… 😂 we’ll explore that more in later chapters

Lloyd liked Princess quicker than she liked him. He was dealing with a lot of push back at work and she was the one who helped him figure out how to overcome it. Three years ago he was freshly released from prison and struggling to fit in at Bishop & Howard. He had to make it work, since the terms of his parole required him to be employed. Princess’ organizational skills, emotional intelligence, and willingness to learn quickly earned his respect. Lloyd was actually shocked by how much he enjoyed having her around. When her internship was ending, he demanded Bishop hire her and insisted they make an offer she’d be crazy to refuse.

On his side, there was always a level of sexual interest. Princess’ office wardrobe had too many tight skirts and sexy blouses for him to keep his eyes off her for long. But the age gap between them, and her obvious lack of experience, held him back. He didn’t want to exploit her and hurt their relationship. Lloyd’s first real friend back in the U.S. was Princess. He relies on her professionally, and recognizes that in some areas of investigation, she’s surpassed even his abilities.

One of the first skills she developed was reading body language during interviews and figuring out what questions were most important. She’s always been a people person and likes watching how they interact. Plus, she has the innate ability of “women’s intuition,” something he’d never fully appreciated the power of before working with her. Interrogation is definitely something he could see her going into in the future.

3. Lloyd hasn’t been in a real relationship before. He has been in situationships and had casual flings, if that counts. He got quite a bit of sexual experience during his college days, and in his time as a cocaine addict. Unlike a lot of people, he didn’t mind hopping from one bed to the next every weekend.

Side bar: College!Lloyd was a total slut, and he had the free time to enjoy himself.

But he doesn’t want a romantic relationship that includes marriage and children. This is due to his background and what he went through as a child. Very early in his development, Lloyd was exposed to domestic violence. It created a strong core belief in him that marriage is dangerous. It causes vulnerability, and puts you at risk. Another layer to the trauma was that his later, more advanced processing of the trauma, became the idea that, as a man, being married means you’re going to hurt the person you love.

Don’t worry though! We’re going to shatter Lloyd’s core beliefs into tiny little pieces and build some healthier ones. Why else would I be writing this story? Some progress has already been made because of his friendship with Princess.

4. No, Lloyd has never been in love before. Unless you count the fact that he’s in love with Princess, and has been for a while… 😏

5. At first, Lloyd was irritated that Princess didn’t want to be fully present in the experience.

He’s a lot more comfortable with his sexuality than she is, and it took him a minute to realize that she was just nervous. Once he understood it wasn’t about him, but the fact that this was her first time, he wasn’t upset anymore.

Then he decided to spend so much time on foreplay and make her so hot for him that she wouldn’t have the mental capacity to feel uncomfortable.

This is also why he didn’t undress her. Making her take off her clothes was a test, to see how willing she was to take the next step. Had she hesitated for too long, he would have stopped. Then his next suggestion would have been that they spend the weekend getting comfortable with each other and working up to the main event. Fortunately, she was very, very ready to take the leap with him.

Perhaps the coldest ace attorney take ever, but I really wish we got like. A top-down perspective on Apollo. An Apollo where all his backstories are allowed to interact and inform his character from the beginning.

What was it like for him to study law, trying to forget all his immigrant experiences and "blend in", when his childhood is the very reason he's pursuing the profession? Did Phoenix's career speak to him; a lawyer facing down impossible odds with horrible consequences if he fails, and never backing down? Never yielding?

Did Phoenix ever remind him of Dhurke?

Did that make it all the more painful when that man let him down?

Did Trucy remind him of himself? They're foils in so many ways, how did it feel to see an adopted kid trying to balance her birth heritage and her true family? To flaunt it and embrace it, instead of hiding and ignoring.

And he's foils with Athena: the kid who was never the most important piece on the board, versus the little girl that everyone put first, above even their own lives. How much does that s t i n g, to see how desperately Simon clings to protecting her, thinking how no one's ever done the same to him. Simon's so much like Nahyuta: loyal, unflinching, intelligent. And Athena is just the youngest child, the princess, sent away from homes and desperate to claw her way back.

And, well, Apollo's already seen what happens when he places his trust in people who remind him of his family.

Give me immigrant Apollo. Give me family issues Apollo. Give me Apollo who's been screwed over by the system one too many times, but wants to become a part of that system and rebuild it for the better. Give me Clay being an entity in his life in AA4, give me Apollo and Trucy bonding over being adopted, give me surprisingly-proficient-at-crime Apollo trying and failing comically to not be weird and no one in the WAA cares.

I know someone's written a gorgeous fanfic with this exact premise. I just have to find it.

DUSK ‘TILL DAWN: THE PRINCES.

1st PRINCE – USHIJIMA WAKATOSHI, 32

Crown Prince Wakatoshi was granted the title of Crown Prince under the late King’s last will. His mother was rumored to be the Late King’s true love, and his one and only concubine. Unfortunately, she passed away from childbirth, causing the King to spiral into madness and lead to his countless affairs with different women.

The First Prince is said to be a strict man. He is firm in his beliefs, solid in his stance, and the most suitable candidate to be the next King of Inarizaki. He is married to Princess Camilla through a marriage of convenience whom he eventually fell in love with. Together, the couple lives happily in Inarizaki Palace along with their firstborn son, Wakashi.

2nd PRINCE – SAKUSA KIYOOMI, 29

Prince Kiyoomi, also infamously nicknamed “The Forgotten Prince.” Despite being next in line as Crown Prince candidate, the Prince is rarely seen in public. He is said to be distant, quiet, and has terrible social skills. He scowls at any cameras pointed his way, and refuses to be interviewed regardless of whether it was approved by the royal family or not.

He prefers to keep to himself, and absolutely detests physical contact with others. According to Prince Tobio, he’s the hardest to approach out of all his brothers, but Prince Kiyoomi is secretly soft-hearted and loves his brothers very dearly. He had a normal childhood where he was raised by his mother, Kanami, an actress and model from Itachiyama, and his father, the Late King. It was the late King who taught him how to ride horses, speak many languages, and shared his love for nature with his father. However, as the late King moved onto other escapades with his many lovers, Kiyoomi was eventually forgotten. At the age of six years old, he was officially registered a resident of Inarizaki to fulfill his duties as the bridge between the two territories. At age twenty-four, he was married to his first wife, Iris Amari, an Itachiyaman citizen and an Inarizaki scholar. They have been married for five years and have no children together.

The Prince is thought to be uninterested in anything aside from his flowers and farm, but if asked, he would say the only time he ever felt something again was when he danced with the shy debutante he met when he was twenty-one years old. Until now, he regrets not calling upon her sooner.

3rd PRINCE – KITA SHINSUKE, 27

The third prince is the son of the royal family’s lawyer, a former classmate of the late King when he attended a few classes in law. They had Shinsuke after meeting again through a reunion years after graduating law school. Kita’s mother, Kaori, also works as professor and has written several novels about the King’s accomplishments in upholding their Kingdom. Out of all the women the late King has been with, Kaori was the only he held close until his last days as he considered her one of his closest and most trusted friends. The King also highly favored Shinsuke for his intelligence, and sent the young boy into school earlier than his brothers ever did. After the King passed, Shinsuke becomes closer than ever to his mother, and shares the same devotion they have to the throne.

Apart from Crown Prince Wakatoshi, Shinsuke is the only prince on par with his most respect brother. But as rumors have it, Shinsuke is scarier in terms of perfectionism. He is extremely dedicated to his studies and duties that he puts his other brothers to shame, constantly winning popularity ranks as one of the people’s favorites. He is given the title ‘The Golden Boy.’ He is reliable, trustworthy, and honest – his brothers look up to him and always turn to him first when they run into trouble.

He has a secret lover, Airi, who is a maid assigned to his quarters. However, after their relationship has become more obvious to other royal staff, Airi has experienced constant criticism that leads to Shinsuke assigning her to Princess Yuzuru’s care.

4th PRINCE – AKAASHI KEIJI, 27

The Fourth Prince is the real forgotten Prince.

With an unnamed servant for his mother, his birthrights were denied by the Queen. There is no known information on who his mother is, or where she is now, but the late King took pity on his son and eventually allowed him to live with his brothers under the condition he would have the lowest rank, no official titles with duties, and that he is to make his presence scarce. Because of this, Keiji has grown up to be shy and introverted, preferring to keep to himself out of fear his titled brothers would reject him as well. He has grown closer to the royal servants instead in hopes he might one day meet his mother among them, but there have been whispers that the Queen has had his mother banished from the castle before he could walk.

The King died without ever telling Keiji who his real mother was.

In his loneliness, Keiji has found solace in the palace library and developed a passion for writing. He spends many sleepless nights writing and writing until his hands grow tired. He is analytical, observant, and far more concerned of his people’s well-beings than his own. He longs to be given duties so he would not be so useless, but because his ‘title’ is merely a formality, there is not much he can do. He solves this problem by publishing his novels under a different pen name, and uses the money he’s made to donate to those in need.

5th PRINCE – OIKAWA TOORU, 26  

Prince Tooru is the son of one of the big three clans that helped form Inarizaki to what it is now – the Oikawa Clan. However, he was rejected by his clan due to his mother having postpartum depression once he was born, which only grew worse when the King did not care for her during her entire pregnancy. She was meant to marry another noble when she grew infatuated with the King instead, and naively believed he would abandon his throne to be with her. When the King ended up choosing his wife time and time again, his mother grew hateful and made multiple attempts to lose her baby. Once Tooru was born, she dropped him off at the Palace and severed any connections she may have with him. Until now, Tooru has no idea of her whereabouts, and he’s long stopped trying to reach out to his family.

At age eighteen, he married Lady Maiko of the Rai Clan, one of the big three clans, shortly after he graduated high school. Due to their sudden marriage, Princess Maiko stopped studying and never got to graduate. She chose to dedicate herself as his wife instead. According to the records, their marriage was not always unhappy. Tooru spent most of his childhood at the Rai Estate playing with Maiko, who was a year younger than him, and even promised her he would marry her when they grew older as they played house. Tooru did not think too much of the responsibilities of marriage as he saw it to be beneficial – marrying a woman from an influential family with direct connections to the throne would strengthen and secure his position as a Prince, even without the support of his mother’s clan. However, as time passed, Tooru began to realize there were things he could not do anymore because he was married. He felt that he had lost his freedom, and constantly blamed and neglected Princess Maiko for his misery.

When Crown Prince Rintaro married Lady Yuzuru, he felt even more dejected in his marriage. He adored the new Princess and openly showered her with affection, more so to hurt Maiko in the hopes she’d stop loving him. But somewhere in their marriage, the two are bonded with their mutual goal in bringing Princess Yuzuru happiness, causing their friendship to be rekindled once more.

6th PRINCE – SUNA RINTARO, 26

Suna Rintaro is the only child of the Queen and the late King; he is the Crown Prince by his birthright.

The Queen struggled to conceive due to the stress she suffered at the King’s many affairs, so he was born later than his brothers, and according to the Queen, “born a little too late.” As the only true heir to the throne, he was raised in extreme and harsh conditions where he wasn’t allowed to talk to anyone that wasn’t his mother or his governess. He was kept isolated from his brothers because his mother feared the ‘half-bloods’ would taint his ‘purity.’ Because of this, Rintaro doesn’t know how to deal with people. His father was less harsh to him, but he was mostly absent from Rintaro’s life. It made a young Rintaro feel confused – if he was their only son, shouldn’t he be spoiled? He vied for his father’s attention, and craved his mother’s praise.

Because of this, he grew desperate for human connection and latched on to the first friend he ever made, Iris Amari. A part of him felt that Iris was a bad influence as she often convinced him to do things he never liked, but because he didn’t want to lose her, and he wanted to please her more than anything, Rintaro let her do whatever she liked to him. When she kissed him for the first time after years of disappearing, Rintaro thought that’s what falling in love felt like.

Crown Prince Rintaro made it his mission to become King so he could have Iris and Kiyoomi legally separated in the hopes he could make her his concubine. To achieve this, he courted Lady Yuzuru for two years, and eventually married her. However, his marriage turns complicated when he starts doubting his true feelings for both his wife and his lover.

7th PRINCE – MIYA ATSUMU, 24 8th PRINCE – MIYA OSAMU, 24

The Twin Princes are the most popular amongst their brothers due to their good looks and charming personalities. Their mother owns a large hotel chain in Inarizaki and is one of the richest women in the country. She was quite young when she met the King, and despite being warned multiple times to not be fooled by the King’s charm, she happily became his mistress. She wasn’t in love with him, but was very attracted to both his looks and the power it would bring her. When the twins were born, she had lavish celebrations for them and spoiled both the boys, promising that there was nothing they would lack in their life. It didn’t matter that the King barely cared for the boys because she loved them to bits, and until now, she still sponsors her sons in all of their endeavors.

Both the twins are morally grey and care little about people’s feelings.

The seventh Prince, Atsumu, is the more arrogant one of the two. He’s loud, brash, and is notorious for sleeping around with women. Meanwhile, Prince Osamu is known to be more gentlemanly and sweeter with the ladies, albeit being a playboy himself. The twins are competitive with one another, and encourage one another in making bad decisions because they know they will have each other’s back even if the Queen punishes them. However, Osamu is more hesitant because he’s truly afraid of the Queen, while Atsumu is more reckless. The twins are also known for wanting the same things and trying to one up each other. Their biggest fight was due to a girl they both liked – Hiroda Yuki – an actress and model. Yuki was more interested in Osamu, but Atsumu liked her more.

9th PRINCE – KAGEYAMA TOBIO, 20

The youngest prince is loved by everyone. With his kind nature, and gentle smiles, it’s easy to understand why he’s everyone’s favorite. Even when his brothers don’t all get along, they all agree that they love Tobio and actively support in him reaching his dreams to go pro in volleyball. He loves painting, playing volleyball, and is extremely close to Lady Yuzuru. He’s an innocent Prince who wants nothing but for his family to get along, and to find true love for himself someday. He craves the kind of relationship Lady Yuzuru and Prince Suna had before his affair was exposed because he almost lost hope that love didn’t exist when he learned his father cheated multiple times.

The only thing he knows about his mother was that she was a kind and beautiful woman who simply fell for the wrong man. He never met her, but the King often talks about how she’s still the most stunning he’s ever met. He loves it whenever someone brings his mother up until he completely stopped asking about her due to the Queen beating him up when he was a little boy. Prince Tobio has been afraid of her ever since.

The King died not long after Tobio was born.

Falling for him Y/N's backstory

Y/N Palmer, Kook princess. Daughter of Charles and Madelyn Palmer, although they divorced a few years back. Her dad was money obsessed, born kook. But her mum on the other hand was carefree, and lively. She couldn’t care about money, she grew up Pogue and found money in becoming a criminal lawyer. She is the best in South Carolina, let alone in Kildare, making over 7 figures every year. She gets paid to fly all around America. Charles was greedy, jealous even of the amount Madelyn is making. Her mum was sick of Charles weird money obsession, and his general attitude towards her and other people. He was rude, and bratty which lead to arguments between the 2 of them. then lead to divorce when Y/N was 10 years old. Her and Charles are still close, when he used to live on the island, she would spend every weekend with him but since he moved to Charleston it’s made it difficult to do that, Y/N just doesn’t have the time for it. The last time she saw her father was at midsummers, he gets invited every year since he still considered “the face of the island” whatever that is.

So you want to get into Empires?

With two seasons and an active Hermitcraft crossover, it might be a little daunting! Worry not, because I am going to provide the Idiot’s Guide to the Empires SMP so you can hop in and join the fun!

One: What is Empires?

Empires SMP is a multiplayer vanilla minecraft smp where each member basically takes a biome or a patch of land and makes an empire. Sometimes there is even lore, but that depends on the pov you’re watching.

Season One aired last year, and the current season is ongoing. They are basically entirely separate from each other unless you’re Pixlriffs or MythicalSausage. They aren’t like other girls.

Every member puts out videos and some stream. The season hasn’t been going on for too long and every episode is more or less 25 minutes, usually less, so it really isn’t that hard to catch up.

Three: But what about lore?

Well, that depends on the person! I personally watch Joel, Jimmy, Sausage, and Oli, so I know their lore more than I know, say, Katherine and Gem’s lore.

Lore in this series isn’t like it is on, say, the Dream SMP. Think of it more like dungeons and dragons in minecraft. Everyone has their own thing going on and so it’s really easy to hop in and figure things out at your own pace. There has been one big server-wide event since episode one, and that was the Rift Festival.

Appearance

Izi has short, brown hair and brown skin and a flat-ish nose. His eyes are green, and he stands at around 5' 6" (167 cm). He doesn't appear particularly fit or trim, but the mass on his bones is definitely muscle from tilling and harvesting rice fields.

Normally, he'll be seen wearing jeans and long-sleeves, even in >100 F (37 C) heat-indexes, since Ir Nouzonif is a very humid place. He's no stickler for colors matching, and often his clothes are permanently stained with dirt.

Personality

Though mostly cheery, he can becomes aggravated easier than normal. Moreover, he can be overzealous and overconfident. He's very openly trusting, although he keeps his early history close to his chest. He's not altogether too proud, though he hates to receive charity, even when he's down on his luck. He looks up to his father, and remembers his words a lot.

Likes:

• Rice bowls. They're his favorite food because they're a) easy to make, b) versatile, and c) filling with the right ingredients. He mostly just adds a couple of fried eggs to his rice bowls.

• Spending time with Hotautebz, the Hero of Mind. Since there's no point in holding back from Hota, Izi feels most like himself when he's with them. Hota's not too judgemental, thankfully.

• His local general store. It's the place where he does most of his shopping, since he knows the price is relatively cheap for the quality of clothing and other daily goods.

Dislikes:

• His authority being questioned. Though he's very insecure about being a leader (in more ways than one), he wouldn't give up the title for his life. He often finds ways to reassert his own authority in that way.

• Lounging around. Izi is restless and likes to me moving about. He likes to rest when he's tired, but he doesn't stay stagnant for too long.

• Burned rice. He believes rice is one of the easiest things to cook, and one of the hardest things to mess up, since it's so versatile.

Cognition Magic

Cognition magic is the magic of the Irrealis-that which is not real, or cannot be known. Quantum physics lends itself really well to this, as well as knowledge of magic, itself. At a base level, Izi can teleport, become "ghost-like," and sense another person's magic.

Besides that, his skill with the scythe and sickle have been honed for the years since he worked in the rice fields.

Backstory

Izi was born the second of two to the Hero of Life and Xajas. Deciding she couldn't raise two children, Ihine Dolgof forced Xajas to divorce and split their children, since Taguchif was just two, and Izi had just been born. As a result, Izi was raised alone.

He went through elementary school in the rural area outside of Ir Nouzonif until his father died in the hospital with stage four lung cancer. After that, the lawyers who were supposed to transcribe his inheritance and set up a fund, based on his father's will, stole it all for themselves, leaving the, now twelve years old, Iziser to find work for himself.

Fun Facts

• Izi's accent of Ipol has the voiceless uvular fricative, [χ], as the realization of the voiced uvular trill, [ʀ] phonemically /ʀ/. Additionally, his /s/ is realized as [h] in most contexts. In summary, he speaks like a farmer.

• Izi has a big fat crush on Hota for most of the novel. That's really all there is to say on the matter.

• Izi never quite realizes why the lemon tree is so significant for Dolgof and Lozerief.

THE WORST THING about apologies when you were a faerie was that you actually had to mean them.

Granted, being a faerie also meant that you got very good at playing by the exact letter of your agreements and not a bit more, something for which Ceridmael, the Iron Prince of the Summer Court, was well known. Unfortunately for him, his younger brother Serendderch also knew it and tended to account for it whenever making bargains with Cer growing up, and he had taught their youngest brother Arianwaladr. For all Cer had a silver tongue, Seren and Ari were absolute rules lawyers well before the term came into common parlance.

The thing was, Cer was a Seelie prince, albeit a half-human one. He was used to putting on a strong front and proving himself over and over and over again. As a prince, he didn't apologize, because he had to be very, very careful to never be in the wrong, and if he ever was? He had to make the other person believe he wasn't, or make a quick getaway until tempers coolled and the other person either forgot about how bad it was or just stopped being angry enough for him to distract them with a gift and a funny story that swept the whole thing under the rug. It worked on his mother and brothers nineteen times out of twenty, and the outlier was usually something spectacular that even Cer had to admit he had messed up.

He was also very used to being the one who had to take care of his little brothers, especially Seren, from the moment they were laid in his arms as pink and squalling newborns with delicate leaf-pointed ears just like his. His number one foundational touchstone, as charged by his father: "Take care of your brother." So when something happened that he couldn't protect one of them from, it always felt like a rip in the core of his being and, like a wounded wolf, he lashed out. He had lashed out at that creepy fucker styling himself as a demon king that had made an appearance during Seren's time away that he hated to think about, and Seren had mostly forgiven him for it, at least enough to let him pretend the horned asshole didn't exist. And he had lashed out at the little human pets whose literally virgin asses had made them tasty beacons for the alicorns and gotten Seren run through by one of those damned cloven-hooved, flesh-eating ponies from the abyss.

Only this time Seren wasn't inclined to forgive him without an apology. Cer had left when his injured and pale brother had yelled at him to get out before he got up off his sickbed and threw him out, not wanting to risk Seren reopening his wounds, and he had figured that he'd give it a few months for Seren to calm down and realize he was right, that the little human pets who'd got him hurt weren't worth the hassle and the estrangement, and they could go back to normal.

But he hadn't.

And then Seren had gotten their mother involved. Cer could have gotten around a territory ban from Seren because, skilled mage or not, he was still Cer's younger brother. But their mother was a full-blooded faerie princess with four more millennia under her belt than either of them, and for some reason she had decided to take Seren's side. Her ban from his little brother's territory was much stronger, and had resulted in Baby stalling out when they had hit the bridge to get onto Seven Mile Island. Seren had driven out with that other human he had hired, the redheaded lesbian their cousin Gilda had had a fling with, and Seren had laid down the conditions while the girl had gotten Baby back up and running, talking to her the whole time. Apparently she had told Baby what was going on, because his darling girl had spun her radio dial to Metallica's "Unforgiven" for seventy-six miles before switching to dubstep.

Cer had missed spending Midsummer with his brother because Seren expected him to genuinely apologize to those pathetic pieces of monster bait, and he wasn't welcome in Seren's territory until he did.

The other thing was, Cer had actually kind of liked the twins when he had first met them. Jimmy was personable enough and a decent cook to boot, and anybody who made cookies that looked and tasted like mini pies the way Cas could was usually guaranteed to be golden in Cer's book. He had actually thought Seren had been trying to hook him up with Cas after tasting those cookies, and it had been a bit of a shock to find out that no, it was his little brother making time with not just one twin but both. Except that "making time" seemed to be missing a few key steps if they were throwing up the all you can eat signal for a carnivorous quadruped that was drawn to virgins for the taste. Not that Cer got that, either, but still! What was the point of saving those two fine asses at the risk of his own if Seren wasn't even going to tap 'em?

The question, when he voiced it to Catrin while borrowing her liquor cabinet, earned him a smack upside the head.

"Pull your head out of your hormones and ask yourself that question again, genius," she told him tartly. "Absent sex and the fact that Sam probably would have done the same damn thing if it had been that kid of his at risk, what reason would he have to put their lives above his own?"

"Oh come on, Cadi," Cer rolled his eyes. "They're human! Sure, they're a bit more accepting of the magical population than most, but Seren's not that stupid!"

"Watch it," Cadi growled, waving her wooden spoon at him. "Don't forget my husband is a human, as is your own father!"

"Yeah, well, they're exceptions that prove the rule," Cer muttered. "Most humans are cowardly magiphobes who can't handle the idea of hooking up long term with another species. Hell, a lot of them get weird about hooking up with someone who's got more or less melanin than them! Seren's known these two bozos, what, since this February?"

"And he commissioned my help in making them a pair of matching jackets out of the hide of the alicorns he killed defending them with a lining of alpaca and silk that he knit himself," Cadi said, leaning back against the counter. "He gifted those jackets to them last month, and they proposed to him in return."

"So?" Cer scoffed. "He spends six or seven decades playing house with them if he's lucky and then I have to pick up the pieces after he buries them, so what?"

"Idunn gave them two of her apples last week," Cadi told him flatly, grabbing for the paper towels to clean up the spray of whiskey. "That's what. So you had better think real hard and real fast about that apology if you want to get to see Sammy get married."

"Shit," Cer muttered, and poured himself another drink.

The thing about apologies as a faerie was that you had to actually mean them to even get out the words because, half-human or not, an outright lie was still impossible to force across your tongue and past your lips. And damn it, Cer was having a really hard time mustering up honest regret for how he had reacted. Seren had been impaled and could have been killed, and it would have been their fault for being out in the middle of the street during an alicorn incursion! That wasn't "casting blame on innocent people" or whatever Seren had said; that was fact!

"And what the hell kind of example is this setting for that kid of his anyway?" Cer muttered under his breath. "You don't jump into a relationship with someone you just fucking met!"

The radio clicked off. Cer only had a moment to really be thankful for the reprieve from dubstep before it clicked back on again. "...There are many things that I would like to say to you, but I don't know how..."

"You know you can talk to me about anything, babygirl," Cer protested, frowning. Limitations of her physical form aside, Baby never had a problem with making herself understood. Case in point, her habit of taking over the radio for her own purposes, even overriding his attempts to use the tape deck.

There was a rustle of static, and then the music came back with, "...by now, you should've somehow realised what you're not to do...."

Cer sighed. "You know why, Baby." Hell, Baby was a pretty big part of why Cer thought Seren should know better than to get so attached to a couple of humans he barely knew that he'd marry them, especially if they'd gone and somehow gotten ahold of two of Idunn's big time guarded super special Apples of Immortality! It had been devastating enough when Lydia had turned out to be the kind of woman who would throw her own baby across the room against a wall when she saw pointed ears because the damn nurses hadn't let Cer into the delivery room in time to glamour her to look human like he did himself, and they'd been together for two years at that point!

"...Papa I know you're... upset..."

"C'mon, Baby, Madonna?" Cer rolled his eyes. He had thought he'd managed to teach his daughter an appreciation for proper music.

There was a burst of static like a sigh, then, "...'Cause I was always your little girl/But you should know by now/I'm not a baby..."

Cer grimaced. "Fine, Emma, you know why I have good reason to think Seren's being stupid about this."

"...You always taught me right from wrong... daddy please be strong/I may be young at heart/But I know what I'm saying..."

"You've got a few more decades before you know more than me about love, young lady," Cer huffed, tapping the steering wheel pointedly.

The radio dial swiveled dramatically, and then burst out, "...Mama, ooh... I don't wanna die/I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all..."

"No, no, Baby, Emma, please don't even think that!" Cer shouted, clutching at the steering wheel desperately. "Please, kiddo, you being conceived and born was a treasured gift, and your mom never should've tried to take it away from us. Her being scared and stupid is not your fault!"

The radio clicked off sharply. Silence reigned, just the sound of Baby's engine and the road beneath her wheels for a long moment. Then the radio clicked back on. "...My life's a spectacle, a sad story... I know you had your dreams of a better life/This time we ain't making it through..."

"That's not your burden to bear, sweetheart," Cer murmured, stroking the steering wheel with his thumb. "Stars and supernovas, kiddo, that shouldn't ever weigh you down, and I wish I could spare you that... I wish I'd been faster...."

"....If I'm laden at all/I'm laden with sadness/That everyone's heart/Isn't filled with the gladness/Of love for one another/It's a long, long road/From which there is no return/While we're on the way..."

Yeah... his baby girl never liked it when her family was fighting. Cer had done his best to keep her from being exposed to more violence than the occasionally unavoidable road rage, but he and Seren were both stubborn, opinionated immortals and arguments happened. For Baby's sake, they usually cleared it up quickly, and the fact that Seren was actually putting his foot down and getting their mom involved was honestly a very clear sign of how strongly he felt about it this time.

"...Maybe we can try it if you let me/Take you by the hand... who understands... it's time... I'll admit that I'm scared/'Cause I've never really cared as much as this/It's worth the risk..."

Cer snorted. "A little disjointed there, kiddo. You trying to say I should just go talk to Seren's humans and see if they're really gonna be a good fit for him in spite of evidence to the contrary?"

"...You got a fast car/Is it fast enough so we can fly away?/We gotta make a decision/Leave tonight or live and die this way..."

One little problem with that plan. "You know what's gonna happen the moment we set foot or wheel on the bridge," he warned her. His mother's mojo was no joke, after all.

"....Call me, beep me/If you wanna reach me..."

"Who the hell is playing Kim Possible on the radio?" Cer huffed, rolling his eyes. Still, point taken. He pulled out his cell phone and, after a moment's hesitation, dialed the number for Lighthouse CommodiTeas.

The phone rang twice before clicking with the connection as someone picked up. "Lighthouse CommodiTeas, how can I help you?"

Well, that was easy. It was one of the twins, though without seeing them he couldn't tell which one. "Is your brother nearby?"

"Ye-es? Did you wanna talk to him, or...?" came the hesitant answer, sounding rather bewildered. Jimmy, then. Cas tended to sound more like a deadpan robot for some reason.

"Can you get him so you're both on the line?" Cer asked, absently drumming his fingers against the steering wheel before a crackle of static from the radio made him stop. "I only wanna say this once, and since I can't set foot over there until I do it's gotta be like this."

There was a long moment of silence, and then Jimmy said in a carefully neutral tone, "Please hold."

There was an odd click like the phone receiver being set down on a flat surface, and Cer could hear the background bustle and murmur of customers and drinks being ordered and made for several long seconds that he tried not to count. He had reached seven four times before there was a clatter of the receiver being picked up again and Jimmy's voice was back.

"Alright, Dean," he said in that same controlled neutral tone. "We're both listening."

"I need to tell you both a little story first," he said, leaning back into the warm, supportive embrace of the driver's seat and closing his eyes, trusting his baby girl to keep them steady on the road. "About a faerie in hiding and the woman he wanted to marry."

"Sam told us about Jessica," came the more flat tones he knew belonged to Cas.

That was actually very interesting that Seren had been willing to open up about his almost wife from three hundred years ago, and good to know, but... "Her name was Lydia," he said, bypassing the topic of Jess for a moment. "And about a year into our relationship she got pregnant with my child."

There was a sharp inhale of breath, but whichever twin had done so, the one who spoke next was calm. "We're listening."

"Everything was fine up until the day our child was gonna be born," Cer went on, reaching up to scrub at his eyes. "This was back before things like ultrasound were really taking off, so up until then I had just been using an illusion on the image, same way I had a glamour hiding the fact I wasn't human. Didn't want the docs and nurses freaking out, right? And it wasn't gonna matter since I'd be right there in the delivery room when our kid was born... but then she went into labor while I was at work and the nurse wouldn't let me in 'cause we weren't married. So I wasn't there when the screaming started.

"Her family was Lutheran," he added, a little inanely. "That's not an excuse for what she did, but you two were raised Catholic so you can probably guess what must've happened when our kid came out with pointed ears where everyone could see. The nurses couldn't stop me busting in the door at that point, and... well, long story short, I only had a few seconds to rescue my baby girl's soul before her body died, and a 1967 Chevy Impala with enough personal connection to tie her to. And a lot of rage to work out." He swallowed. The radio was silent. "That was only forty six years ago, and I'd been with Lydia for nearly two years when she tried to kill our baby girl. If you know about Jess, you know how long Sammy mourned her after being with her for three years. You've only known him seven months."

There was silence from the other end of the line, and Cer wondered if he had finally cracked those stubborn human twins. Then Cas spoke up softly. "Jimmy and I have met Geth. He told us his full name without hesitation, and permitted us to hug him when we said goodnight after our meeting. That meeting was what convinced Sam to show us his true form beneath his own glamour for the first time."

"You know we only exist because our mother thought we were a changeling?" Jimmy said, almost conversationally. Cer blinked his eyes open and frowned. Had he heard that right? So they had already eaten the apples. Seren wouldn't be losing them to old age or disease, and only something really determined to kill them would even stand a chance... assuming Seren didn't kill it first, or train them to do it themselves. And they apparently had the guts to literally embrace Cer's brother's more dickish other half and not get vivisected for it. "Okay. For whatever it's worth to you, while I'm not sorry for trying to protect my brother, I am sorry for letting my issues keep me from getting to know you well enough before as more than just two more humans with the power to hurt him." At the burst of static from the radio, he huffed, "Look, that's the best I can do right now, okay? I can't get to know them if I can't get near them!"

"It'll do," Jimmy said, a hint of a laugh in his voice.

"For now," Cas added, more flatly. "We will expect to see the accompanying change in behavior when you arrive. Which will be?"

"...walk five hun-dred miles..."

"'Bout eight hours or so," Cer translated for Baby. "Assuming this was good enough for Mom's curse, anyway."

"Guess you'll find out when you get here," Jimmy said.

And really, Cer supposed that was fair enough.

Summary: Perspectives on how all the major side characters in “The Princess and the Lawyer” view Lloyd and Princess’ relationship.

Author’s Note: The person who asked this probably thinks I’ve forgotten about it. That’s absolutely not true. As a matter of fact, I’ve thought a lot about this ask. It’s helped me dive into the backstory of my characters. It took me a month to reply because I was so determined to get the characters motivations and personalities just right. Thank you for such a wonderful ask!

Zach Hightower

Zach approves of Lloyd and Princess’ relationship.

He just has a few concerns about Lloyd’s emotional stability. He knows for a fact that Lloyd is reformed. That’s the original reason that he looked him up when he was released from prison - to check out his alleged ‘progress.’ Zach is an incredibly loyal person and he’s very patriotic. He was concerned that Lloyd was still dangerous, not just to others, but to the United States as a whole.

For his own peace of mind, he needed to know his alleged rehabilitation was genuine. When he discovered that post-prison Lloyd was a much different person they became close friends. However, Zach has seen the worst sides of Lloyd. Because he was the embedded intelligence officer on Zach’s team, he knows exactly what Hansen is capable of. He knows that Lloyd was bloodthirsty and ruthless. Having never felt that kind of craving for violence, he treated his then co-worker like a bomb that could go off at any moment. And he kept tabs on him. On some level he’ll always think of Lloyd as a wild card, even if he’s proven himself to be reformed.

In regards to Princess, Zach thinks of her like a younger sister. He worries about her tight bond with Lloyd. His mercurial, temperamental nature, balances nicely with Princess’ more level headed and sensitive personality. The issue is that if at some point, Lloyd does something unhinged, she’ll get hurt in the crossfire. Zach sees the potential in Princess. He’s worked to sharpen her interrogation skills and bring out her emotional intelligence. He admires her ability to empathize with a subject without losing focus on the objective of the interview.

So, while Zach approves of Lloyd and Princess, he’s uneasy as to whether Lloyd is healthy enough to be in a serious relationship.

Jake Jensen

Jake is oblivious. He’s noticed the chemistry between you and Lloyd, but it hasn’t exactly registered. When Zach and Landon made a bet as to whether Lloyd and Princess would get together this year, he took it as a joke. Amused by his lack of awareness, they don’t tell him differently. Because he’s attracted to Princess, a lot of things escape his notice about her and Lloyd.

Jake’s interest in her is based on her focus, her warmth, and sense of humor. In a word, his feelings towards her could be summed up as “admiration.” He wishes he could have her innate confidence, which is incredibly sexy. Meanwhile, Landon and Zach have known all along that Lloyd had the hots for Princess. They also know that Jake doesn’t stand a chance. Nor does he *really* want one. He clicks with her and enjoys her humor, but subconsciously, he knows they aren’t a good match.

Landon McAnnay

Landon is amused by the dynamic between Lloyd and Princess. He tries not to show how invested he is in their relationship, but it’s just so entertaining. It’s like having a soap opera playing in the background at work. You have to binge watch every episode. And because Zach is such a gossip, he never has to worry about being out of the loop.

A fun fact about Landon - he’s a romantic. He pretends to be a guy’s guy but deep down, he’s a sweetheart. His relationships have all been long term and serious. Having a good relationship with his partner is a top priority for him. Watching Lloyd and Princess, he sees that same longing for love and companionship in the ex-spy.

One day, not long after Princess started dating Aiden, he makes a bet with Zach. Over post-golf beers, they place odds that Princess and Lloyd will get together before Halloween. Further negotiations stipulate that he believes it will have to be Princess who initiates the change. His rationale is that Lloyd has less experience putting his heart out there and Princess is more likely to jump in headfirst.

As usual, he’s right. He just wishes he’d laid odds on them getting together before Labor Day. That would’ve netted him a fantastic profit. Truly a missed opportunity.

Andy Barber

Andy Barber is against their relationship.

He detests Lloyd’s arrogance and sneering attitude. Before Princess was in the picture, he and Lloyd couldn’t get along for five seconds, let alone several hours. Out of everyone at Bishop & Howard, Andy benefited the most from Princess taming the beast. That’s why he recognized the chemistry between them so quickly.

An important piece of data here is that Princess is the same age Jacob would’ve been if he hadn’t died in a car accident. That’s a huge reason Andy feels so strongly about her and Lloyd. Princess is too young for him. He’s a convicted kidnapper! He spent his first two years at the firm wearing an ankle bracelet! Andy hopes Princess realizes that she’s out of his league and doesn’t give him the time of day.

As a prosecutor and a defense attorney, Andy’s spent a lot of time with criminals. He knows how charming they can be and worries about his young colleague. He sees the hunger flash in Lloyd’s eyes at Princess’ casual touches. Worse, he notices that she’s frequently oblivious to the sexual tension Lloyd exudes in those moments. Then, after a few months, he realizes she’s every bit as interested in Lloyd as he is in her.

It’s like watching a tiger hunting a baby deer. The tiger gets closer, and closer, while the fawn doesn’t comprehend the danger it’s in.

He cares about Princess. He’s thankful for her ability to wrangle his temperamental colleague. In the months after joining the team, Princess put a stop to the worst of Lloyd’s behavior. Andy’s been a lawyer long enough to know how rare it is to find someone who can mediate well. It takes a certain kind of personality.

Six months later, Andy’s perspective shifts.

He starts to see Lloyd as less of a predator. You’ve trained Lloyd in the arts of empathy, tact, and persuasion. Andy can work with him, even when you’re not around. And to be fair, Lloyd is a genius. He’s able to discern the complexities of an argument that would take others weeks to unravel. It stings to admit it, but the rate of his clients being acquitted has increased significantly since Lloyd began assisting him with trial prep.

Without the disdain that used to blind him, Andy starts to see Lloyd differently. Less like a tiger, and more like a stray dog who wasn’t properly socialized as a puppy. With more patience than anyone he’s ever met, you manage to increase the number of people who accept Lloyd’s quirks. You create situations that put Lloyd in the best light. You highlight his strengths and cover up his weaknesses. In less than a year, you turn Lloyd from the pariah of the firm into the most sought after consultant in the company. He works with every department, from the patent office to family and estate law. Lloyd seems to have evolved; from a junkyard dog into a devoted protection animal who loves his mistress. He’s like an abused mutt who imprinted on the first person to show him kindness.

Andy makes a hobby of studying the dynamic between you and Lloyd. He can’t help it. You’re the quintessential odd couple. You’re sensitive. He’s cold-blooded. You’re calm, he’s chaotic. Your optimism counters Lloyd’s cynicism. You brush off negativity and can’t be bothered by the passive aggressive behavior of the people who remain set against Lloyd. He notices that the most. Several of your friends in the paralegal department still resent Lloyd for his previous behavior. You remain friends with them and chip away at the lingering animosity. Lloyd’s improved reputation acts like a positive feedback loop. He enjoys the praise and recognition. This realization helps Andy see a key feature in your relationship with Lloyd.

It’s not the praise and recognition of others that Lloyd enjoys. He has no interest in raising his coworkers' opinion of him. But he pants after your attention like a dog hoping for a treat. It’s difficult to identify, because Lloyd doesn’t just hide his emotions, he disguises them, and lies about them without qualm. But eventually, a pattern emerges.

What Andy sees, which no one else does, is that you created the pattern.

He finally figures out that you’ve trained Lloyd to respond to certain cues. You picked up on the words he uses to describe positive and negative situations. There are certain words that only come up when Lloyd is being an asshole. You gently reminded him of the potential consequences of his actions and temper his impulsive nature.

Lloyd would bristle and dig his heels in if anyone else tried to manage him in such a way. But when you express concern, show him patience, and provide encouragement… Lloyd turns into a different person. He doesn’t know it, but you’ve trained him like one of Pavlov’s dogs.

When Andy learns that you practically raised your four siblings, he understands. Having been a parent himself, and reading extensively on the subject, it’s obvious what you’re doing. You’ve created limits Lloyd actually listens to. Refusing a meeting with someone just because he finds them boring isn’t allowed. You’re in tune with Lloyd’s motivations and the feelings he tries to disguise and repress. You know him inside and out. Andy wonders how much data you’ve filed away in your brain about ways to push Lloyd’s buttons. You measure motivations, and ask questions to test your judgments. You listen. Because of it, Lloyd feels understood, and it makes him crave your presence and approval.

At the Christmas party that year, he watches you throw yourself into Lloyd’s arms and plaster yourself against him. What surprises him is that the man doesn’t take advantage. His hands don’t wander. He gets you a glass of water and collects your wrap from the coat check. Watching Lloyd carefully guide you over the icy steps of the venue as you leave together, it occurs to Andy that he much prefers this junkyard dog when his tamer is around. You’ve slipped a collar around Lloyd’s heart, and everyone is safer for it.

Maybe you could handle him… Maybe.

Clayton Bishop

Clayton saw the potential of a successful combination between you and Lloyd before you even met.

After a long career in law and politics he’d developed an instinct about people. Bishop is a bonafide extrovert who gets his energy from meeting new people and learning about them. Take Lloyd Hansen, for example. Once his most creative student, the former spy was becoming a bore. He was struggling under the pressure of too much therapy and too little enjoyment. The bright side was that Lloyd was finally sober. Bishop had hoped the sobriety would stick, and it had. The problem was that Lloyd had become more turbulent than ever. He was frustrated by the red tape he’d never learned to deal with, despite attending law school. Who could have imagined Lloyd was better on drugs than off them?

Bishop had always had an issue with drugs. They made a person easy to control and exploit. Lloyd’s drug problem was why he hadn’t recruited him to the firm after he graduated. The substances he abused ruined a person’s health and turned their brain into sludge. Lloyd’s brain must be remarkably resilient, given everything he’d poured into his system over the years.

It was a conundrum. He needed Lloyd sharp, but sober. He didn’t know how to soften his rough edges without him falling off the wagon. Therapy was necessary and it did appear to be working. Not fast enough for his coworkers’ job satisfaction to recover to pre-Lloyd levels, but he was slowly changing. Bishop could hardly reconcile the Lloyd Hansen he’d taught twenty years ago with the current version. The only similarity left was the intelligence, drive, and unfortunately, the abrasive, pushy attitude that so many people found off putting. He knew he had to come up with a solution to the friction between Lloyd and well… everyone else. If he couldn’t, this parole arrangement wouldn’t work out.

Then one day, the solution walked into his office.

Bishop ran a large internship program. He had a knack for identifying talent and enjoyed meeting new people. That meant recruiting the semester’s interns was one of his favorite projects. He cleared his afternoon schedule for an entire week, and did each interview himself. Recently, all of his interns seemed to have the personality of a boiled carrot. It was absolutely killing his vibe. He needed open minded people who had the right energy. Ones who were comfortable challenging him, but who respected the value of a harmonious workplace. Some of the applicants these days didn’t see the difference between compromising and forsaking their morals. No matter how small the issue, they were the first to stand on ceremony by holding their ground at any cost.

Then he met you. His first impression was that you were shy, but intelligent and motivated. He hired you on the spot. It took a few weeks before your true colors shone through. He took a liking to your lack of pretentiousness. He appreciated that on the occasions when you had something to say, you communicated it clearly and directly.

After the orientation, where all the interns cycled through the departments to learn the ropes, he arranged their placements. Bishop took a risk by placing you on the paralegal team. It was a test. Their group was notoriously cliquish and vengeful. He had a dozen resumes of good applicants for the open position in their department. However, he was afraid of putting someone into their complicated team dynamic and having them crushed.

At the moment, the paralegals were set on crushing Lloyd Hanson. Bishop couldn’t blame them. The man was making their lives hell. The paralegals called Lloyd demanding, unreasonable, and rude. He called them querulous, uncompromising, and surly. They were right. Everyone in the conflict had an accurate understanding of the problem, but they refused to compromise.

He had to be honest - it was fun to watch sparks fly as the immovable object struck an unstoppable force. But the stalemate was becoming a company-wide irritation. Placing you with the paralegals was an experiment. He’d noticed you liked to watch people interact and studied them. You took in their words, actions, body language, and motivations. You empathized with people once you understood them. Your capacity for empathy and compassion was highly unusual. Combined with a sense of humor that made you a pleasure to be around, you became quite popular amongst the paralegals.

Heaven knew, those women could be a tank of piranhas if you didn’t know how to fit into their group. He’d been bitten more than once. Bishop watched you smooth Savannah’s ruffled feathers over a brief Andy had returned with corrections. You organized a mail system to handle the annoying chore the paralegals always let pile up. You cheerfully went on coffee runs and scored an invite to join their lunchtime walking group. Within a matter of weeks you’d won over the whole team.

Bishop observed these events and realized that your style of diplomacy would go a long way towards helping Lloyd adjust to his new environment. He was trying to become more sensitive and insightful. The problem seemed to Bishop that Lloyd - as intelligent as he was - couldn’t learn something he’d never seen.

If he’d ever met a human who lacked love and understanding in his life, it was Lloyd Hansen. Bishop knew more about the man’s background than he let on. Not much shocked him anymore. But the horrors Lloyd Hansen had endured, many long before he reached adulthood, was almost unbelievable.

It was clear that Lloyd couldn’t grow emotionally if he didn’t have an example. As it was, Lloyd’s therapist was struggling to find ways to jumpstart the frozen parts of his brain. Everything was connected as it should be, but some areas had gone unused for so long they’d atrophied. Functional MRI scans proved that Lloyd had been nearly turned into a psychopath by his childhood trauma. He could recover. The motivation was there. His emotions, his sense of morality and justice, had expanded during his time in prison. Bishop was thrilled by Lloyd’s growth. However, he needed him to be creative and to stay sober. He kept shooting himself in the foot with petty dramas and ruthless snark. Lloyd had to learn to play nice in the sandbox if he wanted to stay at the firm.

I would rather feel compassion than know the meaning of it.

Those words of wisdom echoed in his head, as he turned the idea of putting you and Lloyd together over in his mind. You’d conquered the immovable objects. He was curious what you could do to the unstoppable force. Perhaps highlighting the talents of others was your skill, even more than empathy and diplomacy. With that in mind, Bishop decided the combination worth a try. He would put you and Lloyd together and see what happened. If his gut instinct was right, you might be just the person to save Lloyd from himself.

Jen Kyznic

Jen does not approve of Lloyd and Princess’ relationship.

Lloyd rubbed Jen wrong on his first week at the firm. Jen is aware Lloyd is a genius, a fantastic lawyer, and an even better investigator.

What she took issue with were his demands. Lloyd came in with a presumption of what the paralegals did and wasn’t bothered by little things, such as: what are they actually paid to do?

The paralegals at Bishop & Howard tied their bonus pay to their team’s productivity. Because they’re a well-oiled machine this works out perfectly. Jen is the longest serving member of the paralegal team and she’s a huge reason this arrangement came about. She wants the pay within her group of employees to be unbiased and justified. She put in the time to make sure the board of directors agreed to their demands and she’s very proud of that accomplishment.

What kills productivity? Long, exacting research on complex legal investigations. The tasks Lloyd requires are killing her system. Jen knows, down to the minute, how long the items on her to-do list take. She doesn’t tolerate interruptions. When Lloyd interrupts her carefully ordered routine, she’s infuriated. Her sense of fairness took a major hit at his refusal to fall in line with the way things worked in the firm.

All the other attorneys marched in lock step to her orders. They knew what she was capable of when someone pissed her off.

Because Bishop requested they try accommodating Lloyd, she took on the task. Her goal was to show him how the system worked. If he would break down his tasks into smaller items that each counted towards their productivity metrics there wouldn’t be such a conflict. However… Lloyd and Jen have very similar personalities. They’re determined, motivated, independent, and authoritative. Lloyd is a maverick. Jen is a grizzly bear. You can’t put two people who love to challenge each other into a room and expect good results. In the end, the situation blew up.

Lloyd knew what he expected and he wouldn’t tolerate anything less. Jen knew how her department operated, and she wouldn’t stand for anyone running roughshod over the structures she’d built.

It took Princess stepping up and helping Lloyd to resolve the conflict. Jen doesn’t know how she can handle being around such an arrogant loudmouth. She has no idea that Princess thinks she and Lloyd have nearly the same personality… because they do. Neither of them is accustomed to giving in.

Jen isn’t going to approve of anything this cocky usurper ex-con does. Ever. Particularly when it involves her friend. Lloyd’s groveling apology after their blow out fight (which Princess helped compose) went a long way towards de-escalating hostilities between them. However, because of their similarities, Jen and Lloyd will always find each other abrasive. Jen and Lloyd will never be friends. But there’s a good chance at some point in the future, they’ll develop a mutual respect for each other.

Right now, the best case scenario is for them to each unbend a little and let Princess mediate their arguments.

Fell family dynamic in a Shrek au sounds hilarious

if you've read the shrek fic that exists (dont ask me why it does) you will notice that gangrel is farquaad. he's trying to get married to one up his ex aversa, who dumped him because she figured out she's a lesbian

this AU started because of the sentence "grima would sing i need a hero from shrek 2" and i kept imagining him as the fairy godmother. if you may. imagine. robin and chrom, both half dragons, go to plegia to meet robin's family. validar is king of Far Far Away. aversa is crown princess.

grima is still the fairy godmother. they're all still trying to do the whole "awaken grima" thing, except robin has... already accepted his dragon side? he's married to a manakete? he has wings and everything?

grima is confused. validar is confused. grima only met chrom after his first husband gangrel "mysteriously disappeared" and chrom was in peak depression era by spending too long alone in self imposed exile. it was a messy relationship. chrom died in suspect circumstances he's a zombie now it's fine.

so like. robin already HAS his happily ever after. validar decides one thing. to truly bring about the grima he wishes to see - robin needs to get divorced. aversa is in on it because she is, in fact, mad that he got married before she did.

(PLEASE imagine risen king chrom as prince charming in this i beg of you. morgan is also here because i just cant get rid of em. please imagine the scene where the fairy godmother takes prince charming to mcdonalds with grima rkc and morgan.)

validar and aversa are playing nice with gritted teeth and just preparing the death cult shit in the background trying to kill chrom via looney tunes shenanigans (owain is puss in boots it just works).

it's so weird because. the apocalypse just. averted itself. chrom and robin met BEFORE they both hit their midlife crises and had an incredibly toxic relationship and they're well adjusted and in love and it's healthy and fine. the future children are just kicking around trying to figure out what the FUCK they did for this to just happen

there's so much here it's not like shrek at all outside the very basic framework that spiralled out of control but these wack versions of the characters are just very neat to think about.

robin crucially does NOT know his family runs a death cult about him. he THINKS he has the regular fiona backstory of "i was born a monster so my family sealed me away" but what actually happened is that "his family recognized that he is their god reborn and sealed him away so no one could kill him until he became of age to perform the awakening"

i'm just rambling here. spitballed lore from chats with anakha and salem is also "grima officiates weddings AND is a divorce lawyer" because it's really fucking funny. he will give you a happy ending that slowly crumbles before your eyes until you're divorcing your prince 10 years later and you think its your own fault but grima deliberately picked out the prince charming who will woo you at first but his minor character quirks will slowly grate on you and escalate with your annoyance

grima WOULD sing i need a hero. after the shrek 2 of this au grima starts crying at chrobin's genuine love and he tries to rekindle his relationship with rkc. morgan gets a raise and three months paid vacation.

What are your Tabitha headcanons/thoughts on her backstory? She is surely wealthy in her own right?

Oh, yeah, I definitely think she’s wealthy.

In many ways, she sits in a really interesting place in terms of the show’s canon – she and Naomi are friends who have slept with each other previously, but it’s ambiguous as to how much the other Pierce’s know her, she’s obviously of a social position high enough to get invited to parties like the Rhomboid Party and to rate in Logan’s eyes as a real prospect for Roman, but not high enough to indicate political advantage / threat in the way Naomi does, or low enough to indicate either a social climber (Tom) or a fee-for-hire (Willa).

There’s also an interesting beat in 2.03 where Roman’s telling Tabitha that Logan’s planning on buying PGM where she replies but my parents watch that which is so rich and textured in general in terms of what it tells us about her being raised in a (likely affluent) politically progressive household while feeling no qualms about getting into bed personally and politically with the right if she likes them.

Funnily enough? The character on the show that reminds me the most of is Rava.

That kind of makes me think that Tabitha and Rava probably grew up in a similar tax bracket. Not with the sort of billion-dollar lifestyle that the Roy’s lead, but probably a multi-million-dollar one. The sort of situation where neither have had to work, and while Rava works in consulting (which the Succession scripts have shown us!), Tabitha doesn’t seem to have a real job, or at least not one beyond socialite which I think is what the show positions us to believe.

Getting full into headcanon territory, I’m kind of obsessed with the thought that Tabitha’s the daughter of a PGM equivalent of Gerri? Like her mom’s a significant lawyer at PGM, which is maybe how she ran into Naomi (maybe Naomi spent a few weeks after her mom died sleeping in their spare room), and none of the broader Pierce family fully knows who she is in the same way half of the Roy team seem to forget Gerri has daughters at all.

And Tabitha, of course, has always been bright and charismatic, but she’s looked at what her mom does for work, lived it, up close and personal for her entire childhood and adolescence, and maybe all of her mom’s ambition killed her own. After all, she knows the people who have real influence, and it’s the people with a hand on a shoulder or a cock or a throat, and she knows the best way to get ahead is to get on top of or underneath someone. She knows that the future’s out of her hands and has the security to accept that, and she tells herself maybe that she’s a lover not a fighter, and so she’ll just embrace whatever opportunities present themselves.

Only she fucks Naomi, and maybe a part of it really is all over for her. Because Naomi is fun and she’s funny, but she’s also mean and fucked up and leaves bruises on her hips and coke on her coffee table and mascara stains on her pillow, and it’s such a fucking cliché, but Tabitha thinks maybe she is too. The hedonist daughter of an ever-striving, ever-ambitious mother.

And Naomi’s not supposed to be the one who matters, but maybe she is, because Tabitha fucks a million hedge-fund pricks and trust-fund babies even before sort-of-Tom and almost-Roman, but for Tabitha, Naomi’s the thing, the one.

The person she’s preconditioned to serve, forever a lady-in-waiting to a queen’s court, just like her mother, maybe, in service if not role or title, and she doesn’t realise it until it’s over, but maybe Roman was a part of that too. A different court, a prince instead of a princess, both inaccessible, albeit in different ways, and Tabitha never wanted to be her mother, but yeah, okay, maybe all this shit was inevitable.

Maybe Tabitha was always an outsider on the inside, looking at all these little heirs and heiresses dipped in gold, and thinking - -

i miss ace attorney so fucking much please aa7 come back and give me [redacted] sibling reveal PLEASE. thats not a hot take i just miss it. my biggest hot takes with this series:

1 i dont care for kay faraday that much. she's fine! but i think she's about the point where I started to get weary of the generic "genki girl assistant girl-teen who is there to be chipper suffer then be chipper again" thing that is this series' assistant mold. maya grew up, emma became a bitch, (cant stress enough how good this was for her. i wish she'd stayed a bitch! in my head she does. at least a little, come ON.) pearls is like...only a temp assistant and gets a Babey Pass, trucy loves card counting and tax fraud, and athena is ready to physically throw down 24/7. kay is kind of hamstrung by the fact that she's around miles and can't commit crimes. i think if she'd actually been allowed to steal more it could've been fun, but miles is a no fun haver, boo. honestly i think if she'd been SEBASTIAN'S companion and justine was hanging around threatening to hit miles with her magical girl gavel staff that would've been fun! I don't think sebastian would notice if kay committed grand larceny in front of him, god bless that boy.

2 the reveal at the end of aa5 was so fucking stupid. the entire final case of that game was a horrible execution of common series final case tropes and such a disappointment. aa5 in general is such an epic highs and lows of gay lawyer drama game. hate that phoenix just goes back to being pre aa4 nick with nothing learned or gained from his years away. boring. final case sucks. not nearly enough interesting stuff done with the dark age of the law and the final "boss" not really being connected to that sucked too. hate hate hate the failed flailing at giving apollo a backstory he doesn't fucking need for a pre-fridged tragic gay best friend when i only got to see klavier, my beautiful princess who loves apollo more than this dead bitch!!, for like 5 minutes. however simon blackquill is my specialest little princess and the yokai case is funny as hell. plus i love bobby fulbright even though i miss gumshoe. also i adore aura blackquill, Bitch Supreme, who deserves the world and to be explicitly called a lesbian i mean this is a fucking M rated game what the hell's your excuse.

3 sorta piggybacking on this, aa4 was super interesting BECAUSE it changed up a lot of familiar elements and it's super depressing that the series immediately hard pivoted back to the status quo after that without any acknowledgment of what had changed. I'm glad nick got his badge back, but I think a bit of change in his attitude or approach would've been nice. also it meant apollo was just super underutilized. aa6 tries to course correct, but....overall it feels like post aa4 games are both an unfulfilling sequel to apollo justice AND the original trilogy, separately, even though there are elements I really like from both. alas!
