“People? In Deya?? ‘Cool?” Hm.” Rhoam scrunched his eyebrows. Contemplating the existence of other beings besides yourself is a struggle as old as existence. “Surely nobody in a dingy old fishing village could compare to everyone living in the castle. The best of the best people in Hyrule all come from here, the ‘Heart of Hyrule!’ Or that’s what my father says, anyhow…”
Elane shrugged, her shoulders crinkling the lace of her dress. She kicked a pebble down the path while stepping over the various little cracks in the earth.
“Well how should you know?” She looked up at him, eyes actually a bit curious. “Have you gone out to meet regular people to confirm that?”
“Uh…” Rhoam twiddled his thumbs together, suddenly allowing himself to take the time to enjoy the scenery around him. “It’s, uh, well. I’ve got, tutors. And. Fencing and lessons and stuff. A bit busy to really, do, uh, personal interviews. B-But my father said so!” He wagged his finger, his sleeves as puffed as his boastful manner. “And he says that our opinions, as castle residents, are better than other people’s opinions. So that means we can’t be wrong, ever! So you know, since you’re Queen—er, *gonna* be Queen, that gives all the more reason why we should be reserved with our compliments of other people that are ‘cool,’ as our influence politically could spiral in— ”
Elane was already back to kicking her pebble across the garden.
As Rhoam continued to ramble on, and remembering his father’s notes to always slide in the occasional reminder that rulers needed “wise and loyal friends” by their side, Terrako continued to clamber on beside the princess. Its spider-like legs provided ample space between Elane and Rhoam. She patted Terrako’s head approvingly as the minutes went by, and it was only now that she noticed its eye had glowed to that charming pink color again.
But as if bored to death by Bosphoramus breath, the color waned, and waned, and trickled towards a softer shade of blue as time went—
“—What makes you think those Deya people are ‘cool,’ again?”
Terrako perked up. Pink.
Elane looked back at him, trying to climb back into the caboose of her train of thought. “H-Huh? Deya..?”
“Well you were…silent during my explanation of their trade exports, so I assume it wasn’t some economic partnership that got them to perk your interest. And I doubt a rundown village like that will be as culturally refined or as educated as Castle Town…”
“They have fortune tellers!” Elane cut in. “I’d say that’s pretty cool!”
Rhoam frowned. “What, like The Parallax? We have those, too.”
“The what?”
“Princess Elane.”
The kids looked up to see an attendant dressed in a simple green uniform approach them. It seemed their conversation had carried on for so long that they had finally reached the other end of the garden, the tiled carriage road now clearly visible beyond some apple trees. The attendant took off his rimmed rider’s hat and pressed it to his chest with a bow.
“Your Highness. Sir Rhoam. Apologies for any interruption. Lord Bosphoramus has asked me to escort you both to a carriage for the trip to Queen Solas’ party.”
Elane bobbed her head to the side. “Can’t I sit with my mom and dad?”
The man exchanged a subtle eye contact with Rhoam and then the ground. Us creatures under the earth must certainly be blushing from all the attention today.
“Well, uh. Lord Bosphoramus specified that Your Highness and Sir Rhoam would…want each other’s company for the trip, and—”
“I dunno…” The princess rubbed her chin in reflective thought. “I have this whole plan I need to start to make my dad more rude and horrible and I kinda wanna get a headstart…”
“Perhaps! We should wait!” Rhoam piped in just a little too loudly. He coughed. “Cause, uh. King Florimond said he would also be here shortly? And we should respect King Dad, Elane father, uh, his decision! Cause, uh, I-I mean, unless *you* think it could be a good idea for us to hang out more cause if that’s what you’d want I wouldn’t dare oppose your Queenly, uh…”
Elane had still been in deep thought, rubbing her chin. It was her giggling that awakened Rhoam to her priority, as she laughed at her small little Terrako, copying her chin rubbing motion with its tiny claws. Rhoam frowned at its soft, indigo eye.
He twiddled his thumbs again. “So, yeah. We should just…hold off, on that, before we…”
He glanced at the attendant. “...commit to anything.” He articulated his last few words with an odd pleading.
The attendant paused, then nodded after a moment.
“Very good. Come with me, then.”
Elane pranced off towards the carriages. Her eyes shone with new light as she spotted the horses, and she began a tangent of her own about them, completely forgetting what other conversations had transpired beforehand.
A bright blue Terrako followed close behind.

out of curiosity, do you have any headcanons about zelda's mother?
I got a few!
Zelda’s Mother Headcanons
I hc her name is Elane, she basically looks exactly like Zelda. Green eyes, blonde hair, and a sweet singer. She also probably encourage Zelda’s love of learning when she was young
She’s the type to just start humming and dancing around whenever she feels like it. Her favourite food is fruitcake, and she makes it herself because she’s a great pastry chef. (Also why its Zelda’s favorite food)
She and Urbosa were childhood friends. Urbosa would always tease her for her crush on Rhoam
That whole thing where they name every princess “Zelda” as per tradition? ehhhhhhhhhh How about Elane’s parents were like “we don’t need Hylia interfering with our lives, so we WONT name our kid Zelda.” But then that backfires anyway when she has the whole ganon repellant WD-40 magic
Onto that, I pretty sure it has to be Elane that has the royal blood, not Rhoam. Considering the whole cycle is dependent that those with Hylia’s sealing magic have the “blood of the goddess.” So maybe Rhoam just became a prince consort like figure with Elane.
Rhoam probably wasn’t a commoner though, considering Hyrule is modeled after the typical European monarchy, they probably had a noble, feudalism system? So he was probably a noble or something when they got married
Of course, he would acquire more responsibility over the kingdom after she died
Now this part is stupid, I don’t even believe it or hc it myself, but what if she didn’t pass away or die of disease, but the Yiga poisoned her? There’s already that whole theory that the fortune teller was conspiring with the Yiga, but wouldn't it be even more wild if they killed one of the only people who could seal Ganon away? Idk I just want the bad guys to be more competent sometimes...
Ok moving on from that conspiracy theory, she was a really sweet mother with Zelda
She named her daughter Zelda, not because of the families tradition, but because Elane just liked the name
The royal family’s song, or Zelda’s Lullaby, is passed down through the generations. However, there are no official lyrics, so each queen would craft their own special lyrics to the song for their child.
I like the lyrics made by this person, Emmierald, because I like to imagine Elane singing it to Zelda to comfort her.
If you hate links, or technology sucks for you, here they are
~Lyrics~Bear up myAncient lullabyMay sweet dreams find your head tonightClose your eyes'Neath the velvet skies'Till we meet again...In sorrow hope takes flightDarkness brings candlelight Think of me when I'm out of sight...Ease your soulOf your endless pathCradled safe and sound o'er the EarthOne star gleamsWhispers on the breeze,"Dream your fears away..."Sleep, twinkle of my eyeHold close this lullabyKnow that I'm always by your side...
[Again, not made by me]
Fuck, Elane was one of the more caring figures in Zelda’s life and basically everything went downhill the moment she died, cause she didn’t want to teach Zelda the sealing magic so young because shes just a kid!!! She was six when she died!!!
Her funeral is probably where Zelda and Link first met as kids, since most of the kingdom was there
And Elane’s buried either in the Hyrule Forest Park, or by the Temple of Time. But I like the forest better because nature
Her gravestone used to have a bird

—and these two horses here are my favourite! They’re the ones that pull my dad around when he goes to get me new books! This brown one is really dumb and silly, but she's so kind to the other horses and the only one that can help cancel out the agressiveness of this red one here, he's Incinerator! Mom says we call him that because he’s fiery and passionate, but I’m pretty sure he has set things on fire before. Thankfully he has a heart of gold, but still, I’m always telling my mom we should rename him to something else so that the coachmen people aren’t as scared of him, but she’s says that its ok if they’re a little bit scared of Incinerator because it means they’re attentive on the job and—
What was the other horse’s name?
Oh! This is Plinko.

elane if you never let anyone beat you at anything youre gonna get an inflated view of your skill
But have you considered the fact that winning is FUN?
*Chirp! Chirp!
Besides! My skills are amazing already! Just LOOK at how many flights of stairs I just jumped down!
Yes, and your skills nearly gave me a heart attack. I thought you were going to break your neck...
The only thing I’m breaking is my speed-hopping record!
Well there’s lots of people bustling about downstairs, Elane, so don’t go rushing off now. Why don’t you use that endless energy to find my son. He’s probably somewhere around here...hiding off the corner again, perhaps...
*Chirp..........chirrrrp...?
Hm? What is it, Terrako?
*Chirp.........................Blirrp.....???

Question: why do you need carriages to go to a party that's at the castle
Huh? Who said it was at the castle??
Yeah. That's why everyone's been in such a hurry. Her Majesty's birthday party is at Zora's Domain, of course.

Elane, being rude isn't ALWAYS the right answer...
Oh right, the talking demons in the egg...
But it obviously is the right answer for THIS situation!
I'll probably just stand to the side while you do the "killing niceness" thing.
That's fine! You're there for moral support! But I would encourage you to take part. I mean, aren't you tired of being nice? Don't you just wanna blow something up!
Not necessarily...But stabbing stuff is cool!
See! We're on the same page. But even if you turn cucco at the last minute,
Fifty-Fifty chance.
Terrako is still here as backup, right buddy?
*Beep beep!
We can head to the carriages at the garden's end, wait for our parents, and then BOOM! We ambush them and force my dad to be rude!
How do we do that?
I haven't thought that far yet, but it'll totally work!

*ahem* Uh, so! Elane...What, uh...What are your plans, during the party? If you have any?
Well, it's complicated.
Oh...
For one thing, I kinda wanna do a glitter bomb prank on someone again! But mom yelled at me when I did it to some ambassadors last week, so maybe I'll just settle for sprinkles.
Yeah, yeah. That's...fun. You kn—
Oh! Oh! But you know, I did pull a funny prank on someone the other day! He didn't even know I was the princess, so Terrako and I just went with it. Had him fooled good! Heheheh...
Ah, that's...nice. So I—
He was sooo rude though. And he said bad words! To ME! Maybe that's the norm! Maybe people just do that to everyone when you live outside of the castle. Crazy, right!?
Well if he was rude, you could just fine him or something. Arrest his parents—
Nono! It was COOL. It was a cool kind of rude!
It was...cool?
Exactly! When's the last time you've been rude?
Uh, never? Hoping to keep it that way...
AHA! MY point is proven! We are TOO nice!
Are. You...only interested in guys that are rude...??
Wha?? Nonono. You're missing the big picture here! Being rude must obviously be what my dad is missing!
You're...wait, are we talking about your dad or this b—
For you see! I think that this is all connected!
This is...What is...Huh?
Terrako breaks, and when Ms. Hartell fixes him with the ancient core thing, he starts acting wildly!
He is...Who is—!?
And then! When Didy is there saying the F word, friendly demons start possessing stuff!
I...what. What's a didy?
And THEN. The pancake lady gave Katashi no butter, but when Mr. Casimir said rude stuff to her about her outfit, they both got EXTRA butter! It's all connected!
... ... ...So...uh...are you busy during Her Majesty's party, or?
YES, Rhoamy, we will be!
wE?! Uhhhh ok! Sure! Perfect! ...what are we doing, again?
Have you not been following along?! Gosh. I laid it out quite clearly.
I think I'd have better luck following an ostrich up Death Mountain...
My dad is too nice, we need to get him to be RUDE. Being rude and mean is cool, and is always the correct answer from what I have seen. So we have to KILL niceness, and THEN, dad'll stop being sad and we can have ice cream!
None of this was coherent, yet I'm oddly swayed to follow through.

Elane burst out the side door, the fresh air flowing freely through her hair.
“Shortcut!!” announced the princess, as she pranced through the garden path. Viridescent leaves and hedges outlined the cobblestone trail. Trees reached out for the sunlight, basking the rich earth and residents in what might be described as lime colored light.
Rhoam followed a few paces behind Elane, averting his gaze away from the soldiers stationed by every turn of the walkway.
“Your dad is so weird.” Elane pondered, out loud. “First, he’s all about playing frogs with me! Then as soon as you show up, he’d rather do boring noble stuff again.”
Rhoam observed the pane-glass windows, through which he could see the old velvet benches he had been cozying up in, a moment ago. A silhouette of a man with dark dreadlocks, adjusting his coat as he spoke, could be seen arguing with some angry maiden.
“I wouldn’t say apologizing for your egg’s dumb mess to half the castle is necessarily, ‘boring...’” Rhoam grumbled.
“Yeaaah. But it’s still weird he insisted we take this route.” Elane swung her arm around a tree, spinning herself in circles. “This place is like...where parents do gushy things. I think Mr. Katashi proposed here.”
Rhoam immediately forced his gaze to his shoes, hoping the collar of his coat hid his expression.
“Y-Yeah. My dad’s weird.” He fixed his steps to that he wouldn’t step on the cracks on the path.
Rhoam huffed to himself as he eyed another posted soldier hiding a smile. He quickened his pace as he mumbled. “Maybe your dumb egg can go hang out with the eggplants by the vegetables.”
The boy nearly tripped onto his face as Terrako zoomed out from under him, turning around to lift up one of its three claws (the middle one) as it beeped incoherently.
“Terrako, that’s not very nice.” Elane jumped up on one of the wooden benches, holding her arms out for balance, while the soldier posted beside her did his best to look straight ahead and ignore the children.
“Wh-What did it say?”
“You don’t need to worry about what *he* said. I think Terrako picked up new bad words ever since we uh...” Elane hopped off the bench, landing in front of a stray, yellow carnation. She picked it up and set its stem in the tangles of another bush. “Well, Terrako has just been funky lately.”
Rhoam was hardly paying attention as he kicked pebbles down the path.
“Makes sense. That Sheikah stuff is weird...I don’t know how you can even stand around it without fearing it’s going to kill you!”
She stuck out her tongue. “That’s nonsense! Terrako’s perfectly safe. And he loves you!”
Elane ran back towards Rhoam, picking up Terrako (who was walking backwards and eyeing the boy with its eye the whole time) and presenting his cute face towards him.
“See! You even made him pink! That must be a sign of true love!”
Elane beamed, as bright as Terrako. Rhoam frowned.
I smiled.

I sure hope you arent preparing for some dangerous battle in the akkala region where several soilders get hurt when you lose
No, no. Florimond's the last person I would expect to allow battles or dangerous acts of aggression to happen. No, it's probably Kleos' obsession with the dragons, again. I heard Dinraal has been changing course.
Mr. Bosfo, can you play frogs with me?
I can certainly try...?
You have to hop down as many steps as you can, and be the biggest frog! Terrako! Demonstrate!
*BebOOP!
I...cannot promise that my acrobatics will surpass that of your somersaulting egg...
That's ok! Katashi and Dad are always worse than me anyways. You just have to do badly so I remain superior!!!
Ah...

PRETTY FISH QUEEN NOT DEAD???
Why would she be dead???? She's not that old, only like...two hundred-ish!
This week marks her 207th birthday to be exact.
There's been partying aaaallll week, because of the summer solstice. But when we get there it'll be the day of Queen Solas' birthday! There's dancing, and music, and food—!
Bleh...I'm already preparing myself for the raw fish smell. THAT part I'm not looking forward too...
But fish is yummy!! You should have had the pie mom let me have at Deya Village—
The fishing place?! With the lake and the muck and the bugs?? Hard pass. Why would anyone wanna even go there?
I dunno! Ask my mom and dad. But the people there are cool, at least!

Zora's domain? That's so far, why is it there?
Cause it's Her Majesty's birthday?? Like we've been saying all day?? Birthday party??? Birthday week?? For Queen Solas?????????? Of the Zora?? Sooooo it's in Zora's Domain, DUH. Gosh, you demons must live under a rock.
Well generally, that is where they belong.
That's fair, but don't they have annoucers or orators or something down in the hells??? Seems very impractical to be possessing people when you don't even know the current events of their world.
I don't think political knowledge is a demon's end goal...
Well what is it then? *gasp* It's being rude isn't it? HA it's all connected!
It's really not...
It is!
It really isn't, but I'm not motivated enough to argue.

I,, don't think being rude is the answer. If anything, being rude just might make things worse for your dad.
ACTUALLY! I see no bad repercussions from this at all. Trust me, I'm ten. I know what I'm doing.
And so, when that's all done. You know, the queen always end her festivities with dancing and music...
OH! Rhoamy, you're right! I totally forgot! Why didn't you just say it plainly...
Oh!? So you'll—
Yeah! I'll get my dad to give Terrako a new dance routine with you! I know you're always going on about how you hate dancing alone...So that should be fun!
Yep. Thanks. That. Is. What. I. Wanted. Very fun...Definitly intended for that to be the takeaway...
*Chirp chirp! :3

T-T-Terrako?!

My word...something is very wrong with your audio. I knew I should have allowed more time researching these Sheikah components...

How's business going?
It’ll do better when you leave during closing time, thank you.
... ... ...Alright. I think that’s it.
Now then. Your Highness...Ah...Mr. Hartell and I will go have a chat with your parents, but it’ll be dreadfully boring, so—
It’s ok, I’ll have Terrako to entertain me now that he’s all fixed up!!
*Beepbeep! Chiiiirp!
Of course, that’s quite wonderful. Though I was just thinking—to make sure you don’t accidentally...disturb...your mother—why don’t you head to the bedroom upstairs? I have a son around your age, and you could play together. You and your little egg friend can hang out with him, I’m sure he’ll love you both since he can’t get out much.
A new friend!? That can't escape?!?! Oh sure!! Absolutely! Terrako, practice your friendly greetings!
*Beepbeep!Boopbopbeepbeep!
Perfect! We’re gonna be the champions of companionship, and NO ONE can stop us! Mwhahaha...
That’s a good girl. Now run along now...
Onwards!
