Love is like the rose thorn

Description: The last thing Y/N expected after quite literally falling down the rabbit hole was to wake up in a world where dragons and knights exist. Throw in an incorrigible but undeniably handsome boy called Benjicot Blackwood who won't stop following Y/N around and we have ourselves a regular ol' fairytale.
Disclaimer: Victoria here to interrupt my regularly scheduled Aeron Bracken content with a Benjicot oneshot. This doesn't have any connection with Elizabeth's masterpiece The Blackwood Knight but is an attempt to fulfill a request from @ithilwen-blackwood for a modern reader finding themselves in Westeros. I'm sorry it doesn't match the request exactly as the reader isn't a dragon rider in this.
Loosely based on Beauty & The Beast. There's now a companion Cinderella retelling for Aeron Bracken called Star Crossed
Warnings: swearing, threat of violence, female reader, world jumping reader, Frenemies to lovers vibes, lengthy (I got carried away whoops), Beauty & The Beast vibes.
Y/N woke with a jolt. Dazed, her eyes frantically tried to take in her surroundings. She was disturbed to find she was not in her own bed, but lying on the cold hard ground with ferns lightly tickling her face. She seemed to have fallen asleep in the middle of nowhere, not recognising any land marks, just the vast expanse of green fields, rocky paths and off in the distance the treeline of nearby woodland. She remembered she'd been hiking and come across a strange arch covered in interweaving vines and blood red roses so dark they were almost black. She had felt inexplicably drawn to the arch that seemed to crackle with magic. But she knew that was ridiculous, there was no such thing. And yet she found herself walking towards it as if pulled by some invisible force until she stepped through it...and was met with darkness.
Y/N was pulled back to the present by an intense feeling of panic. None of this made any sense. Nonetheless her survival instincts had kicked in and she knew she couldn't just linger out in the open, she had to find help. So she started forward, opting to avoid the eery treeline of the woods, hoping that she'd eventually come across some semblance of civilisation, even better someone who could help her make sense of what had happened to her.
Y/N felt like she'd been walking for hours, perhaps she had, her bones wearied with exertion. A shining ray of hope came in the form of a beautiful man sat atop a precarious pile of stones. He struck a princely figure, dressed in clothes that looked straight out of a medieval fair, a fake sword hanging from a belt at his hips. His soft brown hair, lanky limbs, and dimples gave him a boyish charm. But his broad shoulders were suggestive of a strong build and the small scar on his nose gave her the impression he'd once broken it, perhaps in a fight. Eyes suddenly snapping to hers, his features rearranged themselves into a cocky smirk and she suddenly felt quite strongly that the man in front of her was quietly dangerous.
Unfolding himself from his slouched position, almost that of a beleaguered sentry, he jauntily approached her. Although he did stay at a respectful distance of a few paces. "Good day my lady, I have not seen you around these parts before. And I admit I do not recognise the colours of your house. From where do you hail?" Y/N found herself scoffing at his roguish tone and bizarre speech pattern. "From where do I hail? Are you heading to an expo or something. What's with the cosplay and fake sword?" The man's handsome features pulled into a slight frown of confusion. It lasted a mere moment before his eyes were oncemore alight with a mischievous glimmer that Y/N found equal parts frightening and exciting.
"Do you jest my lady? I bear the sigil and colours of House Blackwood as is my prerogrative as Lord of Raventree Hall." He bowed his head to her, a hand to his heart. Y/n had to admire his commitment to his costume but it was starting to grate on her nerves that he seemed to talk in riddles when she was desperate for answers. "Right, sure you are. Could you please point me in the direction of the nearest town?" Y/n asked awkwardly, hoping to try her luck with someone not dressed like a knight.  "You do not know where you are my lady?"
"Not exactly. Not at all if I'm being honest. I sort of just walked through an arch and woke up in a field and here I am. Where exactly is here?" The man's eyebrows shot up in surprise, and Y/N detected a trace of concern as his eyes appeared to soften. "You tell a strange tale my lady, and I should be pleased to assist you in any way I can. We are in the heart of the Riverlands, in Blackwood land." Y/N felt a fresh surge of panic rise up within her chest as she struggled to understand any of the unfamiliar words the man in front of her had just laced together. Had she somehow time travelled and that was the cause of their mutual confusion? Trying to maintain a semblance of calm she took a deepth breath through her nose. "Can you tell me what the year is?"
The man's lips turned up in an amused smile. "This close to the borders of Bracken land it depends who you ask. In the eyes of House Blackwood it is the first year of the reign of the true Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, the 129th year after Aegon the conqueror's conquest." Y/N let out a high pitched squeek, the panic that had settled uncomfortably in her stomach finally bubbling up to breaking point as she began to realise she may be farther from home than she'd first realised. The young man seemed positively alarmed at her outburst, his eyes widening as she started taking small steps away from him all the while trying to regulate her frantic breathing. His brow furrowing, he started to close the small distance between them, a placating hand outstretched as if he expected her to run from him.
"My lady, I can see that you are distressed. If I have done or said something to alarm you, I assure you it was not my intention." Y/N told herself to snap out of it. This was likely all some big misunderstanding. That or the stricken looking man in front of her was toying with her. The idea that he would do such a thing when she was so clearly lost, confused, and vulnerable incensed her. Glaring at him she wordlessly turned on her heels to walk away from him at break neck speed. Hearing footsteps she glanced behind her to see him following at a distance. "Are you following me?" "Yes" He said simply as if it was perfectly obvious that he should. "Brazen bastard" she mumbled, unfortunately not low enough for him to miss. A look of surprise as he registered her insult quickly shifted to one of bemusement before Y/N could even begin to worry about him reacting badly. "That may be, but I'd rather not see you walk into a den of savages. And that is the direction you're going in."
Y/n was quite frankly sick of his cryptic messages at this point. Stopping in her tracks to face him, the young man immediately halted, mirroring her movements. She fixed him with a stern glare. "I don't know what you're playing at but it isn't funny. I have no idea what you're talking about. And I'm not a lady so you can drop the act."
Turning so quickly she was sure her hair must have whipped him in the face she continued on the path she'd chosen. If he wanted to drop mysterious messages of foreboding without telling her anything concrete she'd just as well ignore him. That turned out to be difficult as he resumed following her wordlessly. Y/N broke the silence a while later. "Why are you still following me? I thought you said I was going the wrong way. Headed towards savages as you put it?" Seemingly delighted that she'd finally looked at him and was willingly speaking to him he shot her a dazzling smile that almost softened her resolve to be irritated with him. "To protect you of course. I am a knight and you are a lady in distress. The course you set is a dangerous one but if you choose to walk it then I shall walk it with you." His smile did not match the promise of life-threatening danger he was suggesting.
"I can take care of myself and since I can't understand half of what you're saying I'm not sure I really believe you." His smile growing wider, the young man took a couple of steps towards Y/N to close the distance between between them before gently taking her hand and planting a kiss to her knuckles. "I don't doubt it fair lady, you seem seem have a will of steel but I'd rather not risk your safety if its all the same to you." Momentarily at a loss for words at his actions, Y/N quickly quashed the traitorous fluttering of her heart and cleared her throat as she pulled her hands from his and attempted to put him down gently. "That's quite enough of that. Look, I appreciate your concern... " she stopped realising she didn't know his name and looked up at him questioning. "Benjicot Blackwood. Might I Iearn the name of the fair lady in return?" Ignoring his question, Y/N went on "but there's really no need to worry. I'll be just fine on my own."
Once again Y/N turned from him and continued to walk towards whatever mythical danger the man had portended. When she didn't hear his footfalls following her immediately a smile of self-satisfaction ghosted onto her face before she realised she was almost dissapointed. That was until she heard them at a farther distance this time. Glancing behind her but this time not stopping she shouted back to him. "Are you still following me" He had to shout too for her to hear him though there was mirth in his tone "yes my lady, you still seem dead set on barrelling head first into danger. And you have not yet given me your name" he responded playfully. Y/N groaned audibly "Why can't you go bother some other poor girl and leave me alone?" Y/N fumed to hear him laugh. "Because then, fair one, I might actually have to bother, as you say, ladies who like my company. And where would be the fun in that when I have you to shout at me?"
Y/n gaped at him in disbelief, this man could not be serious. Shaking her head at him, she decided to just go back to ignoring him. Perhaps he'd get bored of following her or, if she was really lucky, fall into a ditch. They walked a little while longer before an arm suddenly shot out around her waist, the young man having hastened his steps to step in front of her. "A step further and we're in Bracken territory. I beseech you to turn back with me. I will take you to my halls and we can discuss your predicament further." Y/N felt a growing sense of fear at Benjicot's seriousness.
Perhaps she'd been too quick to write his warnings off. No sooner had she thought this than she heard approaching footsteps and spotted four other men dressed just like him, except for the golden colour of their cloaks where his was a deep red. She didn't like the angry looks on their faces and was ashamed to find herself cowering slightly. Taking in her fright the young man shot around and positioned himself more fully in front of her, arm lightly outstretched behind him as if to shield her.
"Get back from the border Blackwood, you're in breech of the assize."
"Fuck the assize. This is Blackwood land and you know it." Y/N didn't have a clue what the two men were arguing about as insults flew back and forth, but her ears perked up as the man closest to her red knight levied the next one at her. "Take her with you. Is she fucking stupid, or is she so bold to think she can waltz around wherever she likes? Typical Blackwood bitch." The Lord of Raventree as he'd called himself earlier snarled out a reply, stepping forward to shove the golden Knight harshly in the chest. "You craven bastard. You dare insult a lady under my protection?" Y/N should have been panicking at the impending threat of violence, but her anger at the man's insults, so blatantly laced with misogyny, rose up so fiercely that she heard her own voice among the din before she could stop it. "Don't you dare call me a bitch. Do you kiss your mother with that mouth? I don't know anything about an assize or why you're so obsessed with rocks and not crossing them but you can't just go around calling people names. Have some respect."
Seemingly stunned into silence, perhaps not expecting her to challenge him so brazenly, the golden Knight just stared at her in stony silence for a few moments before ignoring her entirely and turning back to her red knight. "Control your woman Blackwood." Through gritted teeth, Benjicot bit back "Speak another word about the lady and there will be violence." The golden Knight drew his sword, pointing directly at her red knight's chest. Ok, so not a fake sword then. Surprising her by laughing tauntingly, Benjicot walked right up to the tip of the sword. "You wouldn't dare." Y/N told herself she shouldn't find his passionate defence of her attractive, but in the current circumstances she felt she could be forgiven for being irrational. "Come on, just leave it" one of the other golden knights piped up. After a tense few moments the golden cloaked man lowered his sword and and stalked away, followed by his friends.
Shoulders tense, her defender did not turn his back to the knights until they were out of sight before turning around to look at her, eyes immediately softening from the aggressive glare he'd just been fronting. "Are you alright my lady? I had hoped to avoid such an interaction." Y/N flip flopped between finding his evident concern sweet and being irritated that he seemed to think this was her fault for not listening to him. "You think I'm to blame then? You're the one who kept dropping veiled hints about my impending doom and refusing to clarify what you meant!" Y/N could not for the life of her understand why the infuriating man in front of her was smiling at her. "Why are you smiling at me? Do you enjoy fighting with me?" "You mistake me my lady. I am merely gratified to know that you are well enough to shout at me. I was concerned that you would be shaken and frightened."
When Y/N didn't respond, mouth opening and closing trying to find a response, Benjicot assumed that she must be in some state of shock after all. "Please allow me to take you to Raventree. It would go against my conscience to leave a lady wandering about the riverlands alone when you seem so confused." With that he held his arm out for her to take, an antiquated gesture that seemed to confirm to Y/N she was really not in kansas anymore. Weighing her options, she considered that Benjicot Blackwood had teased her and followed her, but he had not harmed her and had in fact protected her when he could have walked away. Making her decision, she lightly placed her arm on his. "My name is Y/N." Benjicot grinned at her as if she had given him a star rather than her name, placing his other hand atop hers as it rested on his arm and began directing them in the opposite direction "a beautiful name for a beautiful lady." Blushing fiercely with embarrassment, Y/N squeeked out a "Thank you."
Benjicot must have been chasing Y/N around the Riverlands for quite some time, as it took them at least an hour to reach the impressive fortress he called Raventree Hall.
Tumblr media
Once she'd gotten over the initial shock of realising she had in fact jumped from her world into another, Y/N actually found herself settling in to life in Westeros. It had taken some convincing for Benjicot to believe her story and stop assuming she was mildly insane, but he had all the while insisted she stay with him in Raventree Hall, gifting her with her own room and beautiful gowns in the colours of House Blackwood. She'd only had her hiking gear on when she was unceremoniously plucked from her world into his, and she sought to avoid similar looks of curiosity to the one he'd shot her when they first met. Y/N grew to love Raventree and the people who lived there.
Benjicot had practically forced his friendship open her and as incorrigible and cocky as he could be, encouraging a healthy back and forth banter between them at all times, she could not be anything but grateful for it. Each day he would show her something new, always hoping to amuse her, whether it be a new room to explore in his ancestral halls, a book he thought she might like, or the rose garden tucked away in the grounds, which had become her favourite haunt.
The roses reminded Y/N of Beauty and the Beast, her favourite fairytale from back home which Benjicot had made her tell at least a hundred times, listening just as attentively, a hand cupping his chin and eyes never leaving hers each time. She supposed that her own situation did somewhat resemble her favourite tale, down to her very own castle and beast. Benjicot had always been a gentleman with her, but she had heard the stories of Bloody Ben whispered by his servants and seen first hand his willingness to resort to violence to protect her when they first met.
More often than not it was Benjicot, or Benji as he seemed to insist only she call him, who came to her, always seeking out her opinions. But today it was Y/N seeking him out. She'd been growing more and more homesick of late and wanted to be with the one person she felt could truly understand, eventually finding him in the armoury, wielding his sword in different formations. Hoping to sneak up on him, and having taken fencing lessons herself back in her own world, she quietly tiptoed over to the swords. Grabbing the lightest one she could she walked soundlessly back over to him before he suddenly turned and clashed his sword against hers. "Sorry Y/N but you should know that I'd recognise your footfalls anywhere and you're not as quiet as you think."
"Rude" she huffed back, sliding her sword down his and shoving him away from her. He grinned at the challenge. "You didn't mention you'd handled a sword before." "Only a little."
He parried a fresh blow from her, easily blocking the next.
"I can see that" He teased, earning a snarl from her though it did not have any true aggression behind it. He continued to block her blows, but seemed reluctant to attack and she used this reticence against him to lunge and place her sword close enough to his neck to refute any delusions he had about her lack of skill. But he was prepared for this and swung his sword upwards to block her again, before taking hold of her waist and spinning her around, her back hitting his chest. His sword hand wove around around her shoulders, as he kept the blade at a distance from her body, while Benji gently trailed his other hand down the side of her bodice, his touch feather light and searing all at once. He leant down to whisper in her ear "You left yourself open here when you lunged."
Y/N had always found Benjicot attractive, even when he teased and irritated her, but she'd tried to quash any romantic feelings for him so as not to ruin their friendship. But his closeness to her now, her body pressed against his, was intoxicating and she struggled to think coherently. Suddenly releasing her, Benjicot smiled widely and bowed. "I shall see you later my lady, I am off to attend to my duties." Throwing his sword carelessly over his shoulder, he turned and exited the armoury, leaving Y/N to stew over the unwelcome feelings their impromptu sword fight had brought to the fore.
Later that night, Y/n could not help the wave of sadness that threatened to crush her under the weight of it from sending her into a spiral of homesickness. Soft sniffles and sobs echoed about the room as she tried to square the new life she now loved with her feelings of guilt over leaving her family behind. The rattling of her bedroom door knob sent her flying from her bed in alarm as she quickly grabbed a small blade form the wooden desk and hurried to conceal herself behind the door. As the intruder entered she wildly swung around to jab the point of her dagger into their ribcage. The intruder stiffened and she looked up to se that it was just Benji, whose brow was quirked up in amusement. How could he act so nonchalant about her nearly spearing him like a fish?
"What's so funny? I nearly gutted you!"
"With a letter opener?" She looked down to find that what she'd thought was a dagger was indeed just a letter opener, not likely to do much damage. She forced out a laugh that ended up sounding much more like a sob, and Benji's face immediately fell once he took in her tearstained appearance fully. Y/N couldn't bear his look of concern, certain it would just make her cry harder and so she broke the silence. "What brings you to my room at this time of night anyway to give me the opportunity to spear you in the first place?" She'd hoped to diffuse the tension and make him laugh but his expression remained just as serious, eyes filled with worry. "I heard you crying."
"Oh." He had come to check that she was OK. His gentle concern for her sent forth a fresh wave of tears and when Benji opened his arms to her she immediately fell into them, her forehead hitting his chest as his hand came up to stroke her hair in a comforting gesture. "What ails you my lady. Whatever you need I will see it done."
His kindness only made her crying worse and he kissed her sweetly on the crown of her head, rubbing soothing circles along her spine. "I miss my family and my home." Benji stiffened as if he were expecting a blow but he let her continue. "And mostly I feel guilty that I'm not sure I even want to go home. Truthfully I love Raventree and your friendship has meant everything to me."
Benji took hold of Y/N's elbows and lightly pushed her away from his chest so he could look into her eyes. "It gladdens my heart to hear that you feel this way about my home. I should like you to consider it your home too. You will always  have a place here with me." Kissing her forehead tenderly, he held Y/N's head against his heart again as if she were made of glass or something truly precious to him he was scared to break. Little did she know how true this was.
Weeks later, Y/N found that her homesickness had begun to dissipate to a dull ache. But her feelings for Benji had grown and spread like the vines of the rose bushes she loved so much, wild and uncontainable. It was difficult to even be in his presence without wanting him to touch her and hold her as he had the night he'd found her crying.
Sitting with her in what he'd come to refer to as her rose garden, he kept shooting furtive glances at her as she read from a tome on his house history. "Why are you staring at me?" "I'm not?" "Try that again without the question mark"
Benjicot surprised her, shifting in his spot next to her to turn to her fully, their knees touching, before taking both of her hands in his. "I have not been able to look away from you for more than a few moments ever since I first laid eyes on you. I must admit that I am desperately in love with you and wondered if, by some chance of fate, you might feel the same way?"
Y/N's jaw fell open in shock. " You love me?"
He squeezed her hands "most ardently."
Her mind spinning, she threw caution to the wind and flung her arms around Benji's shoulders to kiss him. He reacted instantly, pulling her as close towards him as possible until she was in his lap, his hands grasping at her hips to pull her closer still as if he couldn't believe she was real.
Breaking the kiss for oxygen, Benji began to trail a line of kisses down Y/N's neck, leaving her breathless, one hand pressing her back closer to him. "I wish you to be my wife, to become the Lady of Raventree Hall and House Blackwood."
Butterflies erupted in her stomach.
"Future Lady Blackwood am I?"
"Should you permit it, I will protect you, cherish you, and love you for the remainder of my days or for as long as you will allow. I humbly offer myself to you as your husband, with all the love I possess for you."
"And what if I disagree with you and challenge you. What if we argue constantly?"
"We do not argue my love, you scold me and I listen" He shot back with a playful grin.
"And if I decide to change all the tapestries pink?"
Benji sighed, tilting his head to her eye level so she could read the sincerity in his eyes.
"I want all of you, including your thoughts and opinions. They're what made me fall in love with you. I want you to share them with me even if they challenge mine, especially then, even when I hold you in my arms. As to the tapestries, I'm rather partial to my house colours but I would try to bear the change if it would please you."
Y/N giggled at that before planting a tender kiss to his lips. "Then I consent to be be your wife and Lady. You can't take it back though. You're stuck with me now."
Benji pressed their foreheads together, cupping the sides of her face to brush her lips with his. "And how grateful I am for it." He spoke against them before pressing his lips to hers in a kiss he hoped expressed his undying devotion to his lady.

A face I'd go to war for. The title is based on the line 'love is like the wild rose-briar' from an Emily Bronte poem I love called Love and Friendship.

Many students have once seen luocha!yuu talking to the coffin or the person inside of it and one time a student once saw vines coming out to touch loucha!yuu hand. These rumors might cause some feeling of uncertainty around luocha!yuu but they seem to not mind because they said it's normal for people to feel that way.
More than meets the eye, perfectly described luocha!yuu. Also another one for Rolan, since some people seem to have a mod that replaces Gale with Rolan or something? I've only seen screenshots... Anyway, how does Rolan's magic play into his romantic life? Is he also into super weird astral projection threesomes? Does he summon pianos to play music in the background? Does he entangle his partner? Questions upon questions
I think I've come across that mod while modding my own game! I considered figuring out how to use it to kiss Dammon and then decided not to, maybe I should reconsider? Either way, I hope you enjoy the headcannons even if half of them are SFW, I actually used my new mechanical keyboard to write them instead of my phone (this fancy keyboard makes me so excited lmao)

You hate cleaning the much too high up windows in Ramaziths Tower? Rolan has that handled too, don’t worry about it
He’s always looking for new ways to reinvent spells and impress those around him and that extends to his domestic duties as well
Sometimes, if he’s feeling a little cheesy, he’ll summon a gentle gust of wind to knock you off balance just enough for him to swoop in all romantically and be your prince charming
You’ll also generally find him perusing his library with an assortment of books and quills floating near him, or being moved off to the side when he doesn’t have need of them anymore
Mind your head if he doesn’t know you’re there, the room is essentially filled with projectiles
Rolan is also a master at summoning things over to his desk as he works so he never has to get himself up
That is, until you insist on dragging him away for a break
NSFW
If you don’t think Rolan uses his magic during sex then you don’t know this man
He loves some good vanilla love making, and it’s usually his go to, but using his magic simply adds some spice to things
Rolan is fully willing to make a magic clone of himself for the sole purpose of fucking you, whether he’s off to the side simply watching or getting in on the action himself he’s happy either way
He’s surprisingly into spitroasting you with his clone, especially when he gets to tease you as you’re moaning around said clone
Another thing he’s into is double penetration, there’s nothing Rolan loves more than seeing you spread out and taking two of his cocks
That’s not the extent of how he can use his talents in the bedroom however, far from it
Having magic abilities also makes bondage much, much easier luckily for Rolan
He could work it out ‘the normal way’ if he wanted, but this wizard would rather just skip to the good part
Silk ropes or thorned vines, Rolan just loves to see you bound and at his mercy, writhing with every touch of his skilled fingers
You’ll be feeling the fleeting touches of fingertips over sensitive spots for what seems to be hours (but is truly mere minutes) before he finally pulls you against him and has his way with you
Rolans not usually one for manhandling, rathering sweet kisses and declarations of love while taking care of your needs in bed, but using his magic in these ways lights a particular fire in him
Hopefully you’re able to hang on for the ride

What happens when you accidentally break a curse
Tags: smut, mdni, f!reader, witch!reader, cursed prince!nanami, oral (f receiving), fated lovers, fingering, praises, names (love), nanami making sweet sweet love to you, sudden love confession, creampie, just me being feral for this man,
Author's note: I kinda got inspired from real life because when I wake up I hit every single object in front of me and I can bearly stand on my feet. So try to think of someone who was asleep for a few good years. Might as well not get up from the bed at all.
Author's note: I'd suck the soul out of this man.

You were looking for some plants that grow in a very specific region. It wasn't something new for you, since you do that all the time. Unfortunately, this time you woke up with some complications.
You were walking around looking for what you needed when you saw a castle a little bit away from where you were. It looked abandoned, vines and all kind of vegetation taking over it. It had lot of cracks and it looked old and very much damaged.
You couldn't ask for a better place to make as your temporary home.
So, you went there, happily preparing everything you needed to accommodate yourself in a tower that looked in a presentable condition and then left to look for the plant you needed once again.
Everything went smoothly, you found what you were looking for, no one disturbed you and now all you had to do is prepare the potion you wanted to make so badly. However, you needed to do the potion on a sunny day, and outside it was raining. And since you didn't had the perfect environment to complete your quest, you decided to explore the castle.
It was indeed old. From the furniture to the decorations. You haven't seen that style in a good couple of years.
It had its own charm though. It looked like a time capsule.
You won't be able to find buildings like these anymore, and even if you do, it was just some cheap imitation of how things used to be. It won't look as authentic as this.
This place was huge, outside and on the inside. Rooms after rooms, and windows so tall that it reaches from the floor to the ceiling. Paintings bigger than yourself and long rugs that looked like they needed some cleaning. You could do a few spells here and there, but was the pain really worth it when you won't spend a lot of time there anyway?
And besides, you liked the place just the way it was. Forgotten by humans and full of dust.
"This place stinks of magic." you said after you walked into a corridor far away from where you placed your little laboratory.
The hallway you just walked into was getting absolutely no light from outside, no windows could be seen. And the walls were full of green and plants, long spiky vines that went to a door, blocking any access to it.
Not for you though. With a hand movement the door was free to use, now being wide open leading to a room with a single large window and a bed.
The moment you stepped into the room you could sense the source of the magic you kept feeling, and it lend you to the bed.
There was something in it, but you couldn't see what exactly it was. Maybe it was a ancient relic, or a very rare magic object that would go good with your collection of antiques. Whatever it was, it got your attention and you moved closer to the bed.
You expect to see something unseen before, since this place was filled with this overbearing magic that was playing with your senses, but instead, you saw a beautiful man sleeping.
You blinked a few times, trying to understand what's going on. Why was he the source of this bad feeling, why he reak like evil magic.
You were about to step away, not wanting to get caught in the middle of this but when you tried to turn around you lost your balance and fell on top of the sleeping man, your face right into his, lips touching softly. You quickly got up, wanting nothing more than to run away from there. But he woke up.
Eyes looking at you and at your failed attempt to get out of there. Now stuck in that room and owning an explanation on why you woke him up.
"Um-" you bite your lower lip, not knowing what to say. "I'm sorry for waking you up."
He didn't said a thing, slowly getting up, still sitting in bed and looking around the room for a moment. He looked confused at first, he looked confused at his surroundings and at you.
The room felt a lot more clear now that he woke up, the bad magic disappearing a little with each second that pass by. And he seems to regain his consciousness too, now looking less confused and at peace somehow.
"It's you." he said after a while, making you jump when you heard his deep husky voice. He got at the edge of the bed, looking like he was about to get up, but he didn't. "I never thought that you'll appear." he said, a hand going over his face, massaging his forehead for a moment. "I apologize." he sighed. "I just woke up and I'm a bit dizzy."
"No, it's alright." you said, surprised at how calm he was to wake up with a stranger in his room. "I'm the one who should apologize for entering your home without permission."
"It's alright. I'm sure you had a good motive." his words only made you feel guilty for staying without even checking if someone lives in the castle. "Plus, it's raining." you forgot about that.
He was way too understanding, and it was suspicious.
Was this a trap? Was this a big elaborate scheme to get rid of you in a complicated way? You don't remember getting on anyone's bad side so this whole situation was confusing.
"W- well..!" you had to get out of there. "I will take my leave now. If you excuse me." you said, ready to run away from there.
"Where are you going?" he tried to get up, but ended up falling back on the bed. "Come here, let's talk." you were on high alert, waiting for anything to jump out the shadows and hit. You were extremely paranoid and the fact that the room was magic free now was even more suspicious. "How long have I slept?"
"I don't know." you answer truthfully.
"Aren't you sent here by my parents?" you shook your head. "Then why are you here?"
"I'm doing some research about the local flora." you weren't lying, but you weren't saying the truth either. It was better to not reveal too much.
"I understand." he didn't sounded like a bad guy, but you couldn't trust him completely. "You see, I was cursed right after I was born." that explains the unpleasant magic. "I fell into a deep slumber. And I couldn't be woken up no matter how hard people tried."
"Why are you telling me this?"
"Because you broke the curse." but how?
"I didn't do anything though?" he shook his head.
"Only the true love's kiss could have saved me." he chuckled at your dumbfounded expression. "You don't have to believe me. I had doubts about it too. However, I see that it was indeed true. And personally, I'm glad it ended up like this. I'm happy your my savior." he spoke with such a calm voice. For a moment you actually believed his words, making your heart skip a beat and your face getting hotter.
Was he saying the truth? You might consider any of his advances if his words were true.
"I really didn't do much." you said, playing with your fingers. "I tripped and fell on you. It was an accident, I swear."
"It's alright. I'm not mad." this was only making you feel guilty. "I hate to ask this, but can you help me get up? I'm a bit rusty from all that sleeping." your body moved on it's own towards him, grabbing his hand in yours and helping him stand on his feet.
He was tall. You didn't noticed that when he was sitting, but damn, he was really tall. And now that your closer to him, he looks a lot more muscular too. Broad shoulders, and the way his hand was a lot bigger than yours. His touch was gentle, while his steps were clumsy.
"I want to get closer to the window." he said and you stayed by his side until he got to the closest window.
The castle was surrounded by ruins. Not a single civilian could be seen. Anything human related looked like it was slowly evaporating, getting destroyed by time and nature.
"This place used to be full of life." he said, a hint of sadness could be heard in his voice. And it was very much showed on his face.
"The king moved the palace somewhere else."
"I see." so they forgot about him. They chose to leave him behind and continue to move on.
"The new location is much worse, if you ask me." you tried to console him in a way or another. "And the kingdom is not doing as good as it used to be since they moved the palace. It's their lose, if you ask me." he could only sigh.
"It still makes me feel useless."
"Don't be. I'm sure you'll do much better without them, if that's what you want. I can take you there if you wish to." why were you trying to please this man was a mystery. Whenever he looked at you your knees would go weak, you wanted nothing more but for him to be happy and in a good shape.
"I want to take a look around the castle before I decide." and his wish came true. You showed him around, you cooked for him and when the night came, you even looked around for a better room for him to sleep in. "I'm not weak, you don't have to look after me." he said that but he couldn't even stand on his feet on his own.
"Say that when you can get out of bed without my help." this situation was making him feel even more miserable. He was abandoned, being way too useless for anyone's help and now he couldn't do anything on his own because his body felt like gelatin.
How much time did he actually slept? It couldn't be one or two days by the way this place looked like, it couldn't be weeks or months either.
But you were there for him. You helped him with anything he needed, you even forgot about your own research and only focused on him. And your help did wanders because a few days later he was like a brand new person. He was back to his own self. But if you're being honest, you're a little sad about it. You couldn't be as close to him as before. So you had no choice but to watch him from afar.
"Have you decided what are you going to do in the future?" you asked him while you were walking around the castle.
"Ah.. Well." he forgot about that.
"Do you want to go to the palace? You don't have anything to do here anyway." he knew that. "Or.. You could come with me." he looked at you, not sure if it was you who said those words or if it was his imagination playing with him. "I'm planning on leaving this place as soon as possible." being around him was not good for your heart, plus, if he never planned on being with you then you're only playing with your feelings.
"You're leaving?" he asked. You nodded and kept looking right ahead, too flustered to look at him or in his direction.
"I finished my research a long time ago. I was waiting for the right time to leave."
"I want to come with you." he said, still not believing that you're the one who suggested him to come with you.
"You're sure? My place is not as luxurious as this castle." he'll lit this place on fire without even blinking if that means he'll be with you.
"I'll go to the end of the world if you're there. I'll come with you wherever you plan on going." you smiled softly. He was too much for you. He said whatever he wanted to say without thinking twice and it always took you by surprise.
"Then, how about we leave tomorrow? I have to gather my stuff and then we can leave once the sun is out." he'll do whatever you want him to.
He helped you pack and by the time you were finish it was already dark outside.
For a moment, you managed to slip out that room, going somewhere further away from the tower, back to where you found Nanami sleeping.
The room looked the same, the big bed in the middle of the room, the window that was still open from the last time you went there and the big moon shining on the sky. Tonight it was full of stars.
You could see this scenery from anywhere in the castle, but it looked extremely beautiful from that specific window.
"I knew you would be here." his voice could be heard from behind you.
"I was exploring the castle for one more time before we left." he stopped next to you, looking out the window in the same direction as you did.
"You look beautiful tonight." you giggled. "You look beautiful all the time." oh, but could he stop for a moment. He was always complimenting you.
"You look beautiful too, Kento." he smiled, being more happy with the way you said his name than the compliment.
"You're more beautiful." you could only laugh at his stubbornness.
"You are."
"Let me kiss you." one of his hands went to your hips, waiting for your answer before he would continue to do something.
"Sure." you laughed, still a bit surprised by his words.
Dragging you closer by your hips, his free hand went on your cheek, softly placing his lips against yours. He stood there for a second, liking the way your body feels before getting his face away to look at you, enjoying the expression you had on your face even more.
Your big eyes, and the way you're looking at him. Your lips looked like it was calling him back, and he couldn't get enough of you.
His lips went back on yours, placing a small kiss before another came, and then another, and the more your lips touched the more hungry it became.
That soft delicate kiss was now a much more passionate one. One where your mouths were open and tongues touching, hands traveling on the other's body to discover more. Soft sounds leaving out your mouths when a particular spot was being touched, when it felt too good.
"Stay with me tonight." he said between kisses.
"Mm." you hummed something in response. Too horny to even think of a sentence to formulate.
With small steps, you were walking towards the bed, clothes being taken off and all naked by the time you got to there.
"Lay down." he said, helping you get in bed. "I want to taste more of you." you'd let him explore your body however he wanted.
You nodded, looking at him get in between your legs, placing them on his shoulder and leaving a small kiss on your lower stomach.
He looked up at you for a moment before he lower his head, another kiss placed on your pussy before he took a better look at you. "You're so wet." he said all happily. "For me." he placed another kiss. "I'm going to take good care of you." he slowly kissed your entrance, and then went up until he found your clit, kissing and sucking it as one of his fingers went inside of you.
He kept moving his finger at a low speed while he was giving your clit the attention it needed. And after some time another finger was added, trying to stretch you out as much as it's needed.
"Ken.." you sighed his name. "It feels good. Keep it just like that." if this is how you like it then this is how you'll receive it.
Your hands went to his hair, gripping it softly, making him to curl his fingers.
What was he doing out of you. It was so good that you couldn't even think straight anymore, your mind blank as you felt something building up inside of you. Somehow, you wanted him to stop. Too embarrassed to let him see this part of you. But at the same time you needed that release. It was so close, you could practically taste it and you'll start crying if he actually stops.
Your thighs almost closed, lucky his hands were there to stop you from trapping his head.
"You did good." he said and got up, finding a good position in between your legs.
"Oh, Ken.." he could listen to you and your voice for hours. The way you say his name was more than enough for him.
"Tell me if it hurts." with his cock in his hand, he slowly got inside of you, stopping when just the tip was inside to see if you're in any kind of discomfort. Then he kept going, stopping not even halfway through just to make sure everything was alright.
"Just get in already. I want to feel you." you were impatient. You felt like he was playing with you by how slow he was going.
He dropped some of his body weight into you, his arms placed on either sides of your head, caging you between him and the bed after he got all the way in. He stayed like that for a moment, enjoy the scent and warmth of your body.
It was nice, it felt nice. For him it was the way you were to tight, the way your warm walls were hugging him so nicely. And for you it was the way he split you open. His cock touched so many good places. But he didn't dared to move just yet, he wanted to stay like this for a little longer.
"Ken." you said his name so sweetly.
"Yes, love?" he kissed your forehead.
"Can you move?" he could, but he liked the way things were like at the moment. But he couldn't complain when you looked so lovely for him.
So, he slowly moved his hips. Getting out of you just a little, pausing, and then getting back inside. It wasn't anything wild, but it was enough to make your body heat up even more. Soft sounds leaving your mouth every time he moved, the friction being too good.
The pace was painful slow, truly. But from how he stuffed you up it was more than enough for the moment. The places he touches, the way he felt inside of you. God, he could stay like this forever.
"You feel so good." he praised you, his lips on your forehead, placing a soft kiss before he moved his hips a little faster. Again, it wasn't something too much. It just a little faster, it was still the same old enjoyable pace.
It was more than enough, but you wanted more of him. You wanted to leave kisses all over his body, to touch him more, you wanted his body even closer to yours.
He was killing you softly. You needed something more, you wanted him to go faster, but he was so painfully slow. You wanted him to go deeper, but he seems to hold back.
"Ken." you said his name, placing a kiss on his cheek. "I need more." he hummed, nodding his head and placing his arms somewhere closer to you.
He kissed you before starting to move again, this time deeper, hitting your deepest spot just right. It took you by surprise even if you knew what he was about to do. You couldn't help but gasp every time the tip of his cock was touching that spongy spot.
He wasn't even applying any kind of force, he was just moving in and out of you, not getting even halfway out. He wanted to stay inside of you, he's not stupid to leave you alone when you were so good for him.
Your arms went around his neck, one of your hand going to his hair when his lips touched yours. His kisses were so passionate, full of love and lust. It was full of his feelings for you, making it up for the time he couldn't express how he felt when you two meet. It was his mixed feelings, it was for the way he loved you as a person and for the way he loved and craved for your body and more. He might not say it out loud, but he fell for you the moment he open his eyes.
"I love you." he said after he broke the kiss, giving you time to give him a response. You looked at him, big doe eyes and blinking slowly, trying to understand what he just said. "I'd sleep another hundred of years if that means that I get to meet you again and again." he stopped his hip movement, still inside you. "Ever since I opened my eyes, I loved you." you had a dumb smile on your face, giggling and looking away for a moment.
"Oh, Kento." your laugh was so colorful. "I love you too." he kissed your cheek, then your forehead and then your hair.
He slowly started to move his hips again, somehow, this time more passionately. His lips never leaving your body, kissing every inch on your skin that gets in front of him. He was so determined to make you feel good. He wanted to know that he did well, that he's giving you more pleasure than you ever received.
Maybe he's dumb for being selfish, but he didn't cared when your voice sounded like the best melody he ever heard. The sounds you made, so sweet and melodic, making him to want more.
"There, just right there." you said out of breath when he kept hitting a spot that got you trembling. His lips on yours once again, kissing you hungrily while a hand of his went between your legs, moving his thumb on your clit, making you moan into his mouth.
He kept going, the room filled with filthy noises made by your bodies. Wet sounds of skin against skin, too obscene for anyone else to hear.
"Cum with me, please. Cum with me." you begged, out of breath and too desperate for your sweet release.
He was close too, hang in there for a moment. He'll give you what you're asking for. He won't leave you alone.
A low groan left his body, and with a few more thrusts, he came inside you, going as deep as he could, filling you up.
"We might have to stay here tomorrow as well." he said after a while, both of you finally having somehow more clear minds.
"I don't mind where I am as long as I'm with you." you said, cupping his face with your hands and kissing him.
"I feel the same." he said, kissing your forehead before he started to move his hips again. "You can do it one more time, can you? I haven't had enough of you just yet."

Oh dear just trying find some more Yandere Xie lian
... words are modest enough to work, but we can work with it /pos
the flower and the butterfly
you're too stunning; how did someone like me get you?
𔓘 unhealthy behaviour (mutual dependency, gaslighting, clinginess, obsessiveness, possessiveness, manipulation), mild religious themes (worshipping, allusions), abandonment issues, touch starvation, domestic routine, forced relationship / kidnapping if you squint [?]
𔓘 heavy petting, rough sex, hypersexuality, role playing, CNC, mild primal kink, body worship (r.), praise (r.), hyperstimulation (g.), fingering (g.), breeding (g.), mild cum inflation (g.)
Tumblr media
Xie Lian was mind-blowing. Not only in his appearance or behavior, which made him look like a timid coquette or a charming maiden, but also in the fact that you definitely do not want to test either his patience or his nerves, especially if you know him from the time when he was His Highness the 'eccentric' Crown Prince, who loves bright clothes and funny conversations, in which his warm hands were always reaching out to you, as if you were a continuation of his own body, — and you must admit that little has changed since that time, at least for you.
Xie Lian was still as charming and full of life, it's just that his temperament and disposition became colder and easier — for anyone but you, however. He still loved physical activities and delicious food, he still loved to emotionally warm and take care of you, he still allowed you to guide him and relied on you to solve logical problems, trusting your advice and words — and did not forget to wrap around you like a vine around another firmly standing plant, and the fact that his figure was just as flexible and slender, while soft palms could rest on your shoulders or chest, only made you feel even more as if you were hugging the first beauty of the Celestial Empire.
... Xie Lian did not like solitude or mundane things, the 'earth' that could pollute, — rather, he was that social aerial butterfly who loved to fly from flower to flower, despite how down-to-earth and firmly standing he was. At least not before.
Previously, he valued his status highly, worried about people's opinions, was afraid of public discussion and was more like the very flower that wanted to attract attention to itself, blooming stronger and stronger than a butterfly. Rather, you were the butterfly — the one who was able to attract the attention of a beautiful and alluring, but unable to move flower, only trying to grab you and lock you in, so that you would not go anywhere else. But for you, he has always been a fragile but luxurious flower, which you took care of as the apple of your eye, taking care that no one plucked and turned him over — after all, you have been with him since childhood, his most faithful companion, so it was natural that you were especially deep and intense related to him; so much so that no one even understood how you manage to be so synchronized and mutually supportive at the same time, as if it is worth separating you, you both will die even at dawn if cannot be sure that will meet again soon, but if you believe, you will never die before see each other again.
You couldn't deny that you spoiled Xie Lian with your determination mixed with almost imperiousness, while Xie Lian gave you too much of this unconditional acceptance and warmth for you to just give it up. He was everything, your everything, but it was nothing strange — nothing more than the relationship of a butterfly and the sun.
You only found out that your 'sun' was a flycatcher when the petals closed over you, leaving you inside forever.
Xie Lian valued social status most of all, always cared highly about people's opinions, was always afraid of 'what people would think', he lived for people. But when he was really bad, only you stayed and didn't go anywhere, even if the scratches from his nails still sometimes hurt like a phantom on your skin, — you will never dare to blame him, seeing with your own eyes how something breaks that you swore to protect your whole life, and that you won't give up no matter what. Because that's your goal. You will never give up, even if it means dying.
Xie Lian also knows that it is he who will protect all the time that he will have, no matter how little or much.
You have always affectionately almost teased him for how driven he is and easily obeys your will, like a duckling following a parent duck, but he also learned a lot during the time you guarded his back from attacks and shielded him from words. You were always in front so that he could follow you, keeping and guarding. You've always told him that as long as you breathe, nothing and no one can hurt him unless you die.
Butterflies are not meant for a harsh life. Butterflies should fly, eat nectar and dance in the air. Xie Lian loved butterflies and he loved you. And he never hid any of this, even if the second fact definitely confused you and made you brush it off when he brought you flowers or peeled fruit with a playful smile, 'as if you couldn't do it yourself' or 'as if you were a person of royal status'. Xie Lian never denied it, even though he knew it wasn't true.
You were his Deity.
His Everything.
And when the petals close, plunging you into eternal darkness, he knows what he's doing. After all, a sun like you is able to hold and shine even in the deepest nights, and it promises that you will not go out.
Never
You are the most precious thing he has left
Tumblr media
𔓘 Xie Lian is very clingy — from the day you first met, bumping into the burning gaze of beautiful eyes, and until the very last day, which is never destined to come, he is always by your side just as you are by his side. Xie Lian hates to separate — never — and is always looking for reasons why you should stay together. Contrary to his gentle introversion, he feels really good only when he holds you in his arms or when your hand rests on his waist — and never in other cases. His pure adoring gaze never leaves your figure, fearing that one day you will leave him or leave him, no matter whether by your own will or someone else's, and he will never allow this — and the fact that there is no one in the world who could be his competitor or rival, given his strength, only makes the situation even worse for any of your attempts to leave his side at least for a moment.
When his slender elegant fingers take you by the shoulders, entwine around your waist, gently take your arm, wrap your fingers, or when his nose burrows into your neck, buries itself in your thigh, finds peace on your lap or hides rosy cheeks in your chest, — you know that you have no chance to get out of his sticky, strong embrace, as if your body was first his and then yours, “just like my heart...”
Xie Lian never allows you to leave him even for a moment — if there is a need for you to be disconnected, then he will rather give up everything than let you go. Not you. So many people have already left him — he won't survive if you leave too. Please. You're the only thing he needs. He feels so good. Isn't he good enough? Why do you want to leave? Isn't your cute little house perfect? Isn't the backyard garden laid out for you delightful? Isn't the way you live an ideal for you too? No, you can't. You have to be there.
Always.
You both gave up everything you had to stay together.
You promised that you would follow him in life and in death, for better or for worse. You are his and he is yours. And the fact that his hands never leave you, and his gaze never comes down from you, only confirms this. After all, can you refuse him? You swore — officially and unofficially; you followed him on sunny days and rainy days, through rivers of blood and deadly storms, when he was loved and when he was hated, but your will, mind and heart were adamant, despite fleeting thoughts and desires that could disturb you. And now you want to leave him?
It's your responsibility. It's your duty. You can never leave him.
... This is an order.
𔓘 Even if Xie Lian can sometimes fall into capriciously childish, desperate attempts to keep you, if he sees that you are trying to brush him off or want to leave him, no matter under what pretext, using his authority as the 'crown prince' and having a chance to make childish tantrums if you are too overwhelming and he knows that it will be effective — but otherwise, if Xie Lian is not subordinate, he is, at most, democratic and ready to share responsibility with you. Otherwise, he prefers to follow you in an almost 'sacrificial' manner and go wherever you tell him or wherever you go. If you say go west, he won't even look east; if you say sugar is black, he won't even think about saying it's white.
Despite his emotional playfulness and slight eccentricity associated with the desire to get emotional feedback, Xie Lian never seeks to take away power or responsibility from you, entrusting himself into your hands like a fluffy fragile cat who is sure that you will take care of him exactly as he deserves, and knowing perfectly well that even if your treatment will be 'unfair', then it will mean that he was bad and must improve.
Undoubtedly, he will be offended and will try to get fair treatment, but if you insist, he will only nod and obey. He is not someone who is interested in a power struggle or a change of power dynamics in a relationship — being behind you and with you is much better than against you or ahead of you. Xie Lian has never had any difficulties helping you and presenting things, even if it is clearly morally wrong or aggressive actions, despite his peacefulness, there are things that are above the norms of morality or understanding of ordinary realities.
And there is nothing special that you are this 'thing'.
The flower never condemns the butterfly for what it does before it gets on the flower, or what it did while it was on the flower.
You are caring and affectionate enough, giving him small gifts (especially things that remind you of the past, like familiar flowers or small hairpins that he would definitely have worn in the past, even if he now mostly keeps them as his most precious things) and taking care of those household chores that he cannot, trying to preserve the memory of his beloved mother through the absence of such 'ordinary' skills, and you accept him as he is — while he accepts you as you are, without objections and questions.
You've been together for more than eight hundred years — doesn't that mean you've already had a diamond wedding eight times, even if you're still not married?
“It doesn't matter,” Xie Lian purrs softly when you point this out, hiding his face in your chest, wrapping his strong thin arms around your waist like a warmed cat. “If you want, we can officially get married. But we're not going anywhere from each other anyway.”
You have nothing to say to him. Having given up everything that was, following your impulse, entrusting everything to him when Xie Lian gave you everything he had in despair, so that you would not abandon him — you could no longer imagine your life without him, you did not know how to live without him. Just like he is without you.
You yourself do not notice when you become as close as a married couple; when it becomes natural for you to stroke his head on your lap, braid his hair and weave flowers and ribbons there, when you let him take care of your hairstyle and clothes, when you absentmindedly adjust the bandages on your hands — the same as at him — or look at him, leaning your shoulder against the door jamb, while he happily hums, doing his thing, although you are sure that out of the corner of your eye he is still watching you. When he hugs you on the back while cooking, takes care of your house and garden, watches you mend clothes or sweep while he fixes doors and windows; when Xie Lian hugs you in a dream, nervously enthusiastically huddles with a shy giggle while he thinks you are asleep, or briefly kisses your cheek before going to bed, and you are sure that he thinks that you are asleep, but you do not have the courage to try to even gently stop him.
In the end, there is no need for this — he has already become like a husband to you for a long time anyway, giving you his body, heart and mind, and you can only accept and give in return, taking care that Xie Lian knows that you love him and take care of him, no matter what.
Tumblr media
𔓘 It doesn't matter to him what your sexual preferences are. Do you like dick? Do you like pussy? Are you top? Are you bottom? It doesn't matter — Xie Lian is always ready to meet you in any position and in any form, as long as he feels that you are as excited as he is, even if at first you can be sure that he is 'innocent' and 'pure', given his external and internal manifestation and attitude. But even if you are the first for him in every sense, he knows what he is doing and what he should do — more as an instinct than as a theory or, moreover, practice, although he is not above eavesdropping or fleetingly asking even when he was Crown Prince.
He is in a strong connection with his body and knows what can excite him or how to please even a lying log — especially if you are less sexually active or need a long warm-up — and even if the violent blush does not leave his cheeks while he nervously touches your body, openly admiring, Xie Lian gives his best until he feels that you seize the initiative and get involved in the process, digging your fingers into his hips while his stomach takes your shape and gives you a view of you inside him, feeling how wet and tight he is even if he can't help but hiding face behind hands, whining and moaning your name, mumbling something like 'deeper' and 'stronger' mixed with 'yes yes like that' and 'please please please' when you press his face into the pillow while fucking him.
His body is more than responsive and sensitive to you, and even if you pull his hair, spit in his mouth, spank and leave bites and hickeys all over his body, Xie Lian looks at you with adoration and worship, constantly thanking and admiring, as if unable to shut up from euphoria and delight, screaming your name and 'how good it feels' for him even while he is drooling and almost crying, trembling all over, but unable to stop squeezing and wrapping strong legs around your hips, locking you inside his supple heat.
No matter what, Xie Lian will never stop worshipping you, and during sex it gets even worse, as if the way his pussy or dick drips and practically makes a puddle even on the sheets is not enough — but when you just push inside once and he immediately comes, writhing on you, gasping for air, digging his fingers into your skin while his body tries to recover, and begs you not to stop, even though you see how sensitive Xie Lian is still, you try to be gentle to him, massaging his body until you drive inside at a confident but gradual pace, letting his wet tight walls get used to you inside and stop squeezing and massaging you so convulsively, as if he worships you, shamelessly begging you to never leave him and stay forever in this position, is not enough.
At first you try not to be too passionate and persistent, but by the end you are more likely someone who needs careful care and rest than he is — it's hard to exhaust someone so enduring and enthusiastic about the fact that he is with you like Xie Lian, even if you try to keep up with him, giving all of yourself, but in the end you are almost always on the more vulnerable side than him if you let him be on you before you spent enough time to prepare and his exhaustion, kissing and licking, stretching his wet squelching walls until you make sure that at least at about the same level after a couple of orgasms, watching as he tries obsessively trying to snuggle up to you and take you in — but can only stay under you, feeling how your fingers fuck him while you try to satisfy him with your tongue, assuring that you are only 'preparing him', although you both know that this is only an attempt to superficially satisfy him even before the beginning.
And the way Xie Lian jumps on you, impulsively kissing mixed with bites and purring about how good it is for him and that you are both perfect for each other, you are exactly one, only further assures you that you can just lean back and enjoy seeing how his juices and sperm flow down your skin until his body can't stop moving, as if his life depends on it — and how sweetly painfully he whines when you abruptly turn him over and take control of the rhythm, driving into his supple soft body, looking for any intimacy and connection with you.
Damn it, you are sure that one day you will become just one with him if he continues to squeeze you just as adoringly and as if trying to suck you inside while you stretch him with squelching wet sounds, hearing only encouragement and delight no matter what.
𔓘 Xie Lian can spend hours biting, kissing, licking and playing with your body.
In general, the prospect of staying in bed with you all day does not bother him at all — perhaps even thousands of years will not be enough for him to show and tell you how perfect and amazing you are, and how enthusiastic and hot he is does not help too much when his soft hands explore your body, rubbing and 'warming' in every sense, he is much less shy and ruddy than before, — which makes you wonder how much sincerity or games were in all his words to excite you, — especially when he almost shamelessly bares his body, as if proud of your love marks, even if just a few hours ago Xie Lian was blushing crimson, hiding face behind by hand, shyly taking your hand while you were rubbing between his thighs, stimulating yourself rather than him, since it is always wet and slippery between his soft thighs, as if even your palm between them is enough to make him aroused and ready, without needing any other simulation at all.
There's nothing awkward (or at least not awkward enough for him to refuse) for him to show you his body; even if Xie Lian doesn't think he's the most attractive, his body is what always turns you on, and he knows it, even if he can't figure it out. If you adored your body, it would make more sense to him than your strange passion for his own, but Xie Lian does not complain at all, secretly enjoying the fact that you find his imperfect body so exciting, even if he still turns to things like beautiful erotic underwear and devices like a collar or role-playing games to to excite you.
Some of these games excite and stimulate even more than sex itself — especially when you senselessly breed him outside your house, giving yourself to confirm your right to his beautiful tender body, biting and pressing into the ground until his knees weaken, becoming nothing more than prey in your hands, even if he is in any moment can get out, it doesn't matter whether using force or a safe word, — the sensations are too pleasant and intense to even think about it, letting you drive in and use it, it doesn't matter if he is a 'prey' or a 'capricious prince'.
When his clothes show a lot more skin, or when you see a blush on his beautiful cheeks after hard work, or when he clings to you trustingly hotly after a hard day, looking with innocent, darkened eyes into yours, you really don't know whether you should admire or be embarrassed, knowing how subtly and frankly he pulls you by the strings — and knowing that you just need to show a little skin or interest so that he immediately responds, more than interested in everything that you are ready to give him.
You don't know of any couple where at least one member was as obsessively adoring and enthusiastic as Xie Lian, who is always on a 'low start' regarding everything that concerns you, but when he squeezes you tightly while you gently press on his stomach, lovingly teasing that he is still 'soft', Xie Lian, blushing shyly and biting his scarlet lip, only complains coquettishly in a weak voice, looking away, that you just don't 'care' enough about him — and you really have nothing left but to take care of him.
Take care of him very carefully.

Poison From the Same Vine
pt. 1
Tumblr media
pairing: Larys Strong x reader/OC (she/her pronouns, no names, no descriptions)
summary: Larys has found his match in a shrewd and ruthless widow with a taste for spying, intrigue and poison. A battle of wits and worse ensues. Sexual tension.
warnings: talk of murder, poison play, intrigue, hints of NSFW, dark
word count: 2.4k
There was no man who could stand up to Larys Clubfoot, sneaky and treacherous as he was. But there was a woman who could. She was thrice widowed, with a dangerous sort of beauty that should warn men of the dangers that lay in her alluring eyes, her blood red lips, underneath her silken skin.
But men were fools and she liked to draw them in, and ruin them.
For the longest time, she had played her own game: a dead husband here and there, an obedient lover, an obsessed knight. But when she had come to the Red Keep, the stakes had grown, and she with them.
Men liked to tattle, women liked to share the gossip they had picked up on during the day, and the widow of Blackcrown shares her bed with them, her wine or friendship, whatever was required to hear what she needed to hear.
In time, she had drawn the eye of a prince, and his desire protected her better than any armour.
Larys Clubfoot wanted her gone, but a prince’s whore could be as powerful as a queen and she had long made her throne in Aegon's bed, and Tyland’s, and a dozen others.
Did Larys loathe her for the power she held? Did he lie awake at night and dream of besting her, like she did?
He was the one person at court whom she could not win over, the one man who proved invincible to her charms.
Sometimes, he would come to haunt her in her chambers, always giving some threadbare excuse to threaten her, or goad her. And so he had come today, to speak of soldiers and whores.
“You are a shrewd man, Lord Larys,” she said, without any regard for his threats, “though few will ever see that. But you pay your spies in silver or gold – and I have a purse you cannot match.”
She traced his cheekbone with one long finger.
He followed her with his eyes, grey like cruel midwinter frost.
“It seems an…affliction has befallen many of those who have frequented the street of silk of late,” he said, and although his face was a mask of pity and his voice carefully inflected to suggest the same, she realised that this was his great moment of triumph and the true reason he had come here today.
“An affliction.”
“A disease caught from some concubine, no doubt. Many of those women hail from the Free Cities and the uncivil lands beyond.”
“It does give one occasion to pause and contemplate our construct of civility, does it not?”
“Indeed.” He inclined his head. “For now, my prayers are with the afflicted. Such a terrible pox befalls them. Many are disfigured afterwards, if they survive the disease, that is.”
“I understand why you must empathise with those poor souls. But let their fate not burden you overmuch, my lord.”
“I shall heed your counsel, my lady. Only the most depraved fall victim to it, or so word has it.”
“So it begins. Yet, if it should befall those of gentler birth, of the gentlest birth – why, I am certain the origin of this disease will be found and uprooted.”
Larys Strong only smiled. He was not fool enough to spread the disease to Aegon's brothels. And yet…was there a way to limit the spreading? If so, she needed to find it, and quickly, or else her business would soon run dry. Larys seemed to believe that she opened her legs to any man she asked for a favour, and good for her he did.
But it was the promise of her cunt that moved many a man to do as she pleased. With a pox as terrible and dangerous as that, not only would she herself be at risk, no, the promise of coin would lure more men than her smile.
“I do pity the whores,” Larys said, and there was little of his usual softness remaining, “how will they earn their keep when their purses…run dry?”
“A dry whore is as useful as wet firewood,” she agreed amiably.
Larys Strong had no taste for the whores on the street of silk. He preferred his bed warmer crowned and reluctant. And when the queen was indisposed, rumour had it his tastes were perverse and strange, and those women that had to satisfy him never talked to anyone again.
She knew what he liked.
As she leant against the table and stretched out her legs, the hem of her gown rode up to reveal her slippered feet.
It was a dare.
Larys looked down on cue, and for a moment, his eyes rested on what she had bared to him.
No stockings. That alone was scandalous.
Her slippers were velvet, soft and clinging like a lovers’ embrace, and left much of her feet bare.
Her ankles were just visible underneath the hem of her gown.
When he looked up at her again, he was smiling.
“Those women are never out of tricks, though,” she said.
“Cheap tricks.”
Larys did not look down again but she sensed that he wanted to. And he wanted to do more.
Her obvious seduction attempt had shifted something between them.
And now, when he wanted to subdue her, he would think about ways that would be gratifying for him.
~o~
“Lord Larys.” She welcomed him into her chambers. “You bring happy tidings, I trust.”
“Indeed. It seems the Silk Street pox has vanished as quickly as it came.“
It had indeed, and turned out not have been a pox at all but a concoction made by some northern witch. A few drops had been enough to make boils appear and hearts slow, and soon enough, the panic that had followed had ferried some more poor souls to the Stranger.
She had caught wind of at all not in the city, but here, when a vial had been attached to a scroll for Lord Larys. He had taken great pains to hide it, her little lover had said, and had succeeded in doing so even from the maester, yet not from him. She had bedded him in return, but by morning, the boy had fallen down the serpentine steps and broken his neck. She considered herself innocent on that front. Larys was thorough, and it had been folly to observe him so obviously. She loathed to lose faithful informers, but he had tasted the sweet nectar of her cunt and oftentimes men became less loyal after that particular promise was fulfilled, so all in all it was no loss she couldn't cope with. There were two score where the page had come from, and there was a never ending supply of foolish, cuntstruck men.
The only exception stood before her.
“How wonderful,” she said and gave Larys' her most seductive smile. “We must drink to that.”
She led him to the table in the centre of the room, then slowly poured a fine Arbor vintage into two cups.
Larys had followed her to the table without a hint of suspicion in his eyes. Did he desire her already? Had he come not only to bring her these tidings and find out what she knew but to see her, smell her, maybe taste her?
He plunged his hand into the folds of his doublet but not to open the clasps, she realised with some disappointment, when he produced a ring.
It was an ugly thing, with a thick band made of yellow gold and set with a large, square onyx. She knew it well: her first husband had once given it to her as a nameday gift.
“Have you by any chance seen this ring before?”
She took it carefully and examined it, saw where the stone had been filed down to hide the carving it had once borne, the ill-fitting seams of the heavy gold band where it had been widened.
That had been done at Oldtown ten years ago. She doubted the jeweller was still in business, it had been a small, dinghy little shop far away from the cobbled main street. Not even Larys could know.
“I cannot say I have. Is it yours?”
Larys smiled. “It was found in the pocket of a soldier.”
“No doubt he stole it.”
“He sings a different song.” Larys' pale grey eyes were trained on her.
“A bawdy one, no doubt.”
“Not so much, no. And won't ever again, I'm afraid.”
“Poor creature.”
She seized the cups to offer him one, but froze as her fingers wrapped around the brass.
Had the right one not been closer to the edge of the table? And the other one had been further away from the pitcher.
She turned to look at Larys, whose eyes still rested on her. He looked calm, very pleased.
Had he switched the cups?
It made no matter. The antidote was in her pocket, and smeared over her lips.
If he thought he could trick her this easily, he would soon have to reconsider.
She gave him the right cup, then raised the left.
“To justice.”
He replied in kind, and drank deeply. She did the same.
The wine was sweet and heavy. She drank again, to prove a point.
“A good vintage,” she said and licked her lips until the antidote coated her tongue bitter and waxy, with an odd sort of aftertaste.
He nodded and took a measured sip.
“I have come to request your aid,” he said, slowly.
“You flatter me, my lord. How could I, a lonely widow, possibly help the Lord of Harrenhal?”
There was no man who looked at her like Larys Strong. His eyes were soulless and cold, his gaze unwavering, never lustful or heated, always intense, always calculating.
“Maester Mellos was quite troubled. He had found that his study had been broken into.”
Ice flooded her veins.
“The door is rarely locked, I heard.”
“Indeed. Are you not curious how he knew someone had entered without his leave?”
Her heart beat furiously in her chest.
“I had thought you would enlighten me momentarily, my lord.”
“Something was stolen.”
“How terrible.”
She blinked. The light of the candles was strangely blinding.
“A rare poison.” His voice was a seductive whisper.
“Not deadly, I hope.”
Her voice sounded breathless.
“Very, I fear. It heightens the senses at first, quickens the heartbeat. It is most…stimulating for a while as the blood flow is increased. And then, after a few hours, the heart gives out.”
“How gruesome.”
A treacherous throbbing began to spread between her legs.
“In the Free Cities, they call it Widowmaker. Many a wife has found her husband dead after coupling. Did not your first husband's heart give out one night?”
“A horrible tragedy. I still remember how the light went out of his eyes that night, as we made love. But he was an old man, and liked ale and venison overmuch.”
“Mh.”
Larys considered her for a moment. “The poison was not all that was stolen, however.”
“No? A greedy thief.”
“There was another vial Maester Mellos found missing. It had been erroneously labelled as an antidote to the Widowmaker poison.”
“That is a curious mistake to make.”
“Do you not wish to know what that second vial contained instead?”
“Of course.”
“Mainly beeswax,” he replied, “mixed with something quite revolting, if you catch my meaning.”
She took a swallow of wine as the first wave of lust took hold of her body.
Larys smiled.
“I remember you saying you came to ask for my help.”
“Yes,” his voice was soft, almost a caress, and it stroked something inside her. She needed this man between her legs, she needed his hands, his tongue, his cock.
Her laboured breath filled the silence for a moment, as he took in the effect of his workings with unhidden delight.
“To justice, you toasted. I have come to ask which punishment you consider fit for this thief.”
“Have you found him then?”
Larys took a step towards her, then rested his hands on his cane. “I am drawing closer.”
“Good.”
“It is customary for a thief to lose their hand, and for a liar to lose their tongue.”
“Mayhaps they could put both to good use, though.”
She opened the first clasp of her overgown. The chemise underneath was thin, almost translucent. Larys’ eyes dropped to the neckline but there was little interest in his gaze.
She raised the hem of the gown.
“Mayhaps,” Larys agreed. “Though there must be some form of punishment.”
“I suppose the Lord Confessor has other ways of punishment? Less….bloody?”
His grip tightened on his cane, the only indicator that he was not as calm as he pretended to be.
“Certainly. To break a man's spirit – or a woman's – can be just as…righteous as to break her bones.”
His voice…cruel, hard, and yet so soft. She rubbed her thighs together to calm the pulsing desire between her legs but to no avail. Larys watched eagle-eyed, his lips slightly parted in a smile, the wet tip of his pink tongue softly caressing his lower lip.
“Some do not break easy though, I trust.” Though she no longer felt invincible. She would die within a few hours, poisoned by what she had given her first husband the night he'd chosen to bed a chambermaid instead of her.
There was some justice in that, she supposed, and the sort of bitter irony she could appreciate.
What she could not appreciate was the way the poison began to cloud her judgement and take over her body. She had long wanted him to want her, wanted to drive him mad with desire, and now he had turned the tables on her with alarming ease.
“All break eventually,” he said, gazing at her curiously, “Though of course, should the thief have accidentally sampled the poison, thinking the antidote is at hand, the thief will not give me a lot of time to get a confession.”
“The antidote. I trust Maester Mellos still holds on to it?”
“He thought it best that I store it safely, just in case the thief makes another attempt.”
“And you keep it in a secret hideaway, I suppose.”
“No.” Larys raised the other cup, the clean cup, to his lips and took a measured sip as he made her wait for the answer she needed. “I have it on me.”
It took her a moment to understand his meaning. Then her hands went to the second clasp of her gown.

It's time!!
Sharing my contribution to the Umbral Wings Tarot Deck with my art for the Knight of Water!
The campaign's in the final stretch and the deck is fully funded! 🎉🎉🎉 If you wanted to get your hands on some truly phenomenal artwork, I highly suggest checking it out! 👀
Here's the link once more in case you missed it: 👉 [Link]
Going to dip a little bit into the designmaking process itself under the cut!
Tumblr media
The Knight of Water is thematically about sensitivity. Charm, romance imagination-as a person, it's about a 'knight in shining armor' type character who may help others with the matters of the heart.
I also wanted to note that another cool thing about this deck is that the artists were designated their suit depending on their art and rendering style! The Air suit focuses on more atmospheric type art, Fire is character symbolism driven, in the Earth suit you'll se a lot of traditional-style rendering, and in the Water suit you'll see a lot more anime-inspired art styles!
With these factors in mind, I wanted a composition that would pay homage to the classic anime bishoujo genre--sailor moon and utena played heavily into the design and composition--something with lots of sparkles, atmospheric framing, a pretty waterfall to tie in the elemental theme, and lots and lots (and LOTS) of roses. (Fun fact! If you look at each rose, they have a heart in the centre! Each one was carefully and painstakingly hand drawn!). The pose that was chosen for this card was also a direct homage to the classic Sailor Moon style transformation sequences (and also swan mating dances with the wings), with the element of a 'bleeding heart' visual cue so to speak with the red roses and petals to the chest haha--it was fun going through different pose ideas before settling on this one! Roses and thorns go hand in hand, so thorny vines were also added at the bottom so that they become more evident when the card is inverted! (The inverted card speaks of emotional upset, depression, hypersensitivity, and lashing out)
For the dragon design itself, I took the 'prince on a white horse' and 'knight in shining armor' aspect and meshed them with leafy and weedy sea dragons and betta fish from real life to make a unicorn-like design--a creature that is traditionally associated with sensitivity and emotions--with a classic anime magical girl spin. I wanted the design to look ethereal and noble, and still clearly a dragon instead of a horse! (It was trickier than one might think!)
That's all the notes I have at the moment! Overall this was an Incredibly fun project to think through, I know I've been absolutely vibrating off the walls to share this haha! Everyone else has also brought their A game to each card in this deck, be sure to check them out through the KS link when you can, I can assure you that each and every card is just as lovingly rendered as this one!

Note
Not a request. There’s roots and vines in your body enclosing itself around your heart and lungs, you can’t breathe and you can’t move. You feel pushed into a corner by two rabid wolves, one wants to consume you and meld himself into your blood and bone marrow while the other will burn the world to ashes if he can’t have you. As a little girl, you dreamed of a Prince Charming, a man that will whisk you away to a beautiful castle and make you a queen. You never dreamed of becoming meat, you never thought you could fathom the idea of being disgusted by the appearance of raw meat. How you cringe at the sound of meat being chewed and slurped on, you sit there in the dining room stagnant to the world around you, you can’t hear the world move around you. All you see is them, Konig and Horangi, pawing and licking you: they bite your thighs and chest leaving teeth marks on your body. A grim reminder of what you are, meat, a piece of breast, thigh, and wing laid out before them on a decorated plate as they eye you with their hands ready to rip and pull you apart. How can you escape these men, these beasts, whose engraved your scent, your flesh into their DNA. Should you feel happy that a man or men of their caliber desperately want you? That they’re willing to give and destroy for you on a whim, isn’t this what you desperately wanted as a girl?. Horangi, despite his facial scars is a prince and the scars only give him an air of mystery, a dark illusion of a prince seducing you with his silken words. His idea of “love” is consuming, an endless sense of greed, only satiated by tasting you and licking the sweat of your neck as he pounds himself in your wet, tight heat. Konig, is your knight, the man sworn to protect his forbidden love, you, his princess. He loves your innocence, he’s addicted to getting his grime and dirt on your pretty white wings, he likes it when you’re clumsy and dependent so that he can stitch and mend your wounds. He wants you to reach out to him with your arms wide open so he can hold you, entomb himself into your purity and feel your heart beat match the rhythm of his. You should want them right? You should want to be surrounded by pretty things in a gilded cage loved by men who’ll bow before you. All you have to do is carve off a limb and hand it to them raw and bloody, let them lick the blood of your hands so they can taste your love and pain. They want to know that you’ll bleed for them as they would you, this is what you should want because this is what love is, you should know that because your smart and you should just lay back and let it happen. Stop being difficult with your hissing and clawing, Your step father is right, getting a college degree nowadays will only land you working at dead end job because finding a job is hard, the job market is brutal for a girl like you so why don’t you let him take care of you?. You shouldn’t have to worry about what your mother would think he says because their marriage is failing and you should feel assured that he’ll leave her for you. It’s only a matter of time just wait for him like he would for you if the shoe was on the other foot. You shouldn’t feel conflicted about being the “other woman” because your not, not in Königs eyes because their is no other woman just you.
GIRL PLS GO WRITE SMT. DON'T WASTE THE POTENTIAL!!!
or well... you could make a one article kinktober... you could make it into a monster fucking fic or smt ;)

Ever after high is seen in plain view, birds are chirping, the sun is set high and bright by the beautiful blue sky.
There is chatter amongst students and plain old fun as they get into the school for another day of learning.
One of these students that were going into the school was none other than [Name] Song,Daughter of the pond siren, known for her entrancing song and tragic story.
[Name] walks up the stairs, her deep navy blue heels clicking the tile floor, she sways with her dark green short off the shoulder dress, brown leg warmers dress her ankles and drape her heels. Her long (h/c) (h/t) hair is decorated with vines with small lotus flowers that go around her head as a crown.
Her face is stone cold, her golden eyes gave a glint of mischief to the royals parting the way for her, her face immediately soften when she enters and is greeted by her friends Madeline Hatter (or Maddy) and Raven king
"Hey Sugarcube!" Maddie yells waving her arms frantically up and down, Raven smiles waving at [Name] " Morning puddles"
She laughs as she reaches the two "always with the puddles never anything better huh?" She fold her arms over her chest and sigh dramatically
"Hey at least it's original" Raven defends himself elbowing Maddy at her arm; he then looks over to the clock "Let's get a move on guys" he walks down the hallway the girls following suit giggling
The trio walk to class, Raven and Maddy sit together because of a lucky arrangement and [Name] Sat with Kitty which was fine. Kitty is fun to talk to.
"Alright students, today we are going to be starting on a 3 day assignment of groups of two" the class erupted, some in excitement and others in disagreement.
"Settled down, all of you" then proceeds to call the groups of two, and after 15 minutes she called
"[Name] Song & Aspen white, alright now get with your partner"
[Name] looks around her seat and sees Aspen already going up to the seat next to her, an excited glint in his blue eyes as he gets closer, [Name] was surprised how fast he got there with eagerness.
Aspen takes a seat with a big bright smile, "Hello [Name] happy to properly meet you!" He offer his hand [Name] placed her's in his and without warning he bends down to her hand and kisses it softly, his lips were soft a dusty shade pink, they lingered for a second more than he should have he then seemed to snap back to reality his blue eyes looking up at her and gave her a charming smile.
[Name] felt a shiver go up her spine and a flutter on her stomach but pressed it down immediately.
"Meet me properly?" She tilts her head up and smirks locking back to character, Aspen's face turned a bright red and he quickly hides it with his hand "yeah I've heard of you from Raven, but I've never had the chance meet you since you're always on the move it seems haha" he looked to side, avoiding her eyes
"Well it's a pleasure to meet you as well" she said then turned to the teacher who handed out a paper with the project requirements
"Make sure to get everything correctly everyone" the students nodded their heads.
[Name] looked at Aspen who was already looking at her "so who's dorm are we using?"

After class the two decided that it would be Aspen & Raven's dorm they would work their project in.
[Name] actually felt very out of bounds, pretending to not be interested in whatever the blond prince was saying as they walk through the boys dormitory.
" I think this will be great getting to know you!" He exclaimed making the girl look at him puzzled 'why does he want to get to know me? I'm not that interesting am i?', [Name] grinned mischievously hiding her true doubt "Ooh do you know?" She nudged his arm making him flustered "yeah haha..." he went quiet "I think I'd like to know you personally" he admitted looking at [Name] his blue eyes showed ernesty in his words
It confused her in how much he was willing to show to others just by his eyes unlike her, she'd seen it a few times towards situations revolving Raven with anger and guilt or his royal friends happy and honest but how could he show her that it's not like they've ever interacted until now.
I mean sure [Name] saw him around and talking to Raven a lot which of course made sense, [Name] did sometimes get intrigued so naturally she'd ask Raven about the blond and then he'd tease her about it afterwards..
It's not like she'd want to talk to him or anything she's just curious
"Sure but I won't make it easy, i'm not going to spill my whole story in one go" [Name] stops in her tracks and smirks at the blond "I wouldn't have imagined it" He smiles,[Name] rolls her eyes.
Aspen grabs his key as they get closer to his shared room, places the key to the door unlocking it, he hold the door and motions [Name] to go in first "what a gentleman" she pokes fun at him "of course" he states 'especially for you' he thinks to himself
The two ended up sitting on the ground next to Aspens bed, they used their computers in silence both looking into the information about the subject they were given.
The project they were given (all different for each group) was about wishing on shooting stars and the history of them
"Okay so," Aspen started looking at [Name] "i got the first person in story book records to ever wish upon a star it's categorized in wishing star records volume I" he turns back to his computer, [Name] shuffles to his side getting close shoulder to shoulder and leans towards the screen, the blonds face is turned hot red 'she so close and her perfume is DIVINE' he took a hesitant breath in, he had entirely forgotten to breath while the girl was sitting next to him how stupid of him he internally shaped himself
"Oh I see that's actually really interesting blondie" [Name] looked at him teasing him with the new nickname she gave him "are we gonna split this information between us two or do you want to do this one and I'll do the other one" Aspen thought for a moment "we can split it,it's a lot of work just for me and we'll do the same for what you've found" he tried his best not to sound shaky
"Alright sent me the file, one sec let me get my laptop it'll be easier if I see what your writing so I'm not repeating it" you then come back with your laptop and sit right down, criss-cross thighs in full view your skirt rolling up a bit, your (h/t) (h/) behind you styled to be out of your face for the time being 'she's so gorgeous' the prince thought looking at [Name] with a almost admiring eyes ``do you need something blondie" the girl looked at him back "No no! Sorry that was rude of me" he quickly started typing aggressively trying his best not to look back into her golden eyes
"Pfft- hahaha" [Name] started to laugh "oh my gosh blondie- hahaha" she held onto her stomach "i-i am really sorry I didn't mean to I promise" he started to move his hands defensively "no no *inhale* Phew no it's fine but wow the look on your face right then-""stupid?" She shook her head "Adorable blondie, not stupid" "what" Aspen sat there dumbfounded
"Don't get your ego up but you are adorable" she re adjusted her hair so she could see him better "oh..well if we're complimenting each other, I think you're gorgeous" he regained some confidence and admitted what he thought but in a more tame manner.
[Name] stared into his blue eyes and for a moment she felt a sense of warmth within her heart a spark ignited "thank you..Aspen" she smiled sincerely for the first time since talking to him and Aspen noticed "you're smile is the most beautiful feature of you yet" he confessed tilting his head to the side showing his own smile to her "that's a first,i just don't know why but I have a feeling I need to tell you everything about me,to open up"
The two fell into comfortable silence "I'd love to hear every detail" Aspen took her hand in his and she smiled
___________. ___________
Soon these two souls will fall for the other one who's already there and one who will learn this feeling for the first time in her life

Spencer paces the forest floor nervously with the engagement ring in his hand. He’s been a nervous wreck ever since he asked his short-term girlfriend to marry him. He’s not ready for marriage whatsoever but his parents and her parents think this marriage is a good thing and will benefit both families. His family is well off while hers is a bit poor. Her family owns a business Spencer’s parents want a part of, so if he scratches her back, she scratches his.
No matter what he does, he can’t seem to get it right. The vows are pretty easy to remember but he can’t seem to get the words out. He likes Maeve a lot and there is potential for love later on down the road but his parents want this to happen now. He left the rehearsal wedding to be on his own to gather his thoughts and feelings about this whole thing.
“I can’t do this. I’m not ready to be a husband. What were my parents thinking?” he thinks out loud. “I like Maeve. I like how she makes me feel but is she ready to be a wife? Does she even want this?”
Spencer paces back and forth with the ring in his hand.
“Come on, Spencer! What am I saying? I can’t do this to Maeve. She deserves everything good coming her way. What kind of boyfriend would I be if I were to walk out on her now? I can do this. Just take it one step at a time.”
Spencer straightens and fixes his tie to make himself look more presentable even though there is no one around but him. He raises his right hand confidently and begins his vows.
“With this hand, I will lift your sorrow.” He grabs a branch nearby and pretends it’s Maeve’s delicate one. “Your cup will never empty, for I will be your wine.” He breaks off the branch and pretends it’s the cup of wine he’ll have to lift and drink from at the actual wedding. He walks over to a small stump and pretends it’s a candle that he will have to light. “With this candle, I will light your way in darkness.” He drops the branch and looks over at a set of vines that looks like a human hand. He grabs it gently and takes out the ring so he can slide it on one of the small sticks protruding from the base. “With this ring, I ask you to be mine.”
He slides the ring onto one of the sticks and pulls away with a satisfied smile. This is it, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for. You’ve laid to rest in this forest for almost half a decade just waiting for your Prince Charming to finally come save you. The one you were with did you dirty but you were okay with waiting for the right one to come by, and he’s finally here. The ring he slid on your finger is shiny and delicate just like your feelings.
Spencer looks around the empty forest and decides it’s best if he goes back to his family and does the wedding rehearsal right. Just as he is about to grab the ring, the branch crackles to life. He jumps back in shock as the ground shakes with vigor. The ground cracks and opens to give you enough room to crawl out of your shallow grave.
Spencer yells in shock when he sees a deadly hand shoot up from the ground. It’s like a scene from The Living Dead coming to life. You claw your way out of your grave and stand to your full height, and you grin at the ring on your skeleton finger. Your entire left arm is just your bones as the flesh had been eaten off previously. Your right arm is covered with sickly grey flesh that hasn’t yet been devoured. Most of your body still contains your flesh with holes showing your bones. You’re wearing a dirty white wedding dress that was your mother’s. It goes all the way down to your feet but has a slit in the front of it that goes up to your mid-thigh. It shows off both your legs when you walk--one flesh and one completely bare to the bone.
If Spencer didn’t know any better, he might have thought you were someone from a movie with a bunch of makeup on you. However, he just saw you claw your way back to the surface of Earth like it was nothing.
“My, oh my! What a beautiful ring!” you sing and dance happily around your new husband. Hearing you speak breaks Spencer out of a trance. He quickly gets up and starts running away from you, scared for his life. “Wait! Where are you going?”
Spencer is fast when he thinks his life is in danger, but you know these woods like the back of your hand. You used to sneak out here with your fiance to get away from your lives. That’s back when you thought you were going to be happy for the rest of your life. There are plentiful shortcuts to get to the entrance into the forest, so you take those to catch up to Spencer.
He pants heavily and decides to take a break right on the bridge that separates the town from the forest. He looks behind him but you’re not there. He thinks he’s safe so he turns to walk back into town but stops when you’re right in front of him. He yells and jumps back but you’re not letting him go this time.
“I do. You may not kiss the bride,” you smile.
You grab him and lean in to kiss him but he faints in your arms. You’ve never seen a person faint before. There is someone who can help so you use your deadly powers to summon yourself back into the underworld with Spencer in hand.
“Y/N! New arrival?” your best friend Marcy asks.
“No, it’s my husband.”
“Husband? That dick returned?”
“No, silly. His name is Spencer. He said his vows perfectly and gave me this ring.” You show off the delicate diamond that shines brightly against your white bones. “Isn’t it pretty?”
“What happened to him?”
“He fainted as soon as I kissed him. I’m trying to get him to Dr. Hubert. He’ll be able to help him.”
“Let me help you.”
You two take Spencer over to the doctor’s office even though none of the dead need to be seen by the doctor. He’s often stated it keeps him tied to his humanity. The doctor’s office is located right next to the bar everyone hangs out in so you’re not surprised to see the doctor taking shot after shot.
“Dr. Hubert!”
“Y/N, darling! We’ve missed you. How was the surface?”
“Riveting. I got married,” you grin and show off your ring.
“Splendid! Where is he?”
“Right here,” you say and show him Spencer who is still out cold. “He fainted when I kissed him. Is there something you can do to help him?”
“Oh, my. He’s living!”
Everyone stops their chatter to look over at Spencer. As soon as they hear a living is among them, they all get curious. No living people visit you so it’s amazing when someone does.
“Yes. Can you wake him up?”
“Let me at him!” The small bartender scatters across the bar table using his tiny bug legs. He was decapitated many centuries ago, so the only thing keeping him moving is the bugs that live inside his head. “I can tickle him awake.”
“I don’t think so, Pierre. Let Dr. Hubert handle this one.”
“Yes, I see the problem. Charger, your finest bottle, please.” The other bartender gets the best bottle of alcohol and hands it over to the doctor. He downs a shot before hovering the top of it underneath Spencer’s nose. Spencer gets one whiff of the stuff and shoots awake, like smelling salts. “Works like a charm.”
“Hey, whoa, you’re okay, darling,” you grin and calm him down.
He sees all kinds of dead people in all different stages of decomposition which freaks him out. He scrambles to get up and backs into someone who has a gaping hole in her throat.
“Are you sure he’s the one you married? He looks so scared,” Marcy asks you.
“Yes. He said his vows perfectly. Spencer, please calm down. Let me explain.”
Spencer doesn’t give you a chance because he’s already trying to get away from you. He pushes past many skeletons without knowing where he’s going. All he knows is he needs to get the hell out of here. You sigh and look at everyone who is staring at you.
“I’m sorry. He’s new at all of this. Let me go talk to him.”  You follow in his footsteps but calmly. “Spencer! Come back, darling!” Spencer weaves in and out of the crowd, taking left and right turns haphazardly without knowing where it’s going to take him. “Spencer, darling, where are you?” You turn to see his legs disappear around the corner and when you go investigate, you see a set of stairs leading up to the cliffs above. Spencer is sitting on the bench trying to catch his breath. “There you are, silly.” He jumps at your voice and is about to run again but you hold your hands up. “Please don’t run. Let me explain everything.”
“Fine,” he sighs, mostly because he doesn't want to keep running.
You walk to the railing along the cliff’s edge and look at the city below.
“Isn’t this view amazing? It takes my breath away. You know, if I had any,” you chuckle. You walk over to Spencer and join him on the bench, and you smooth down your dress. “I’ll answer any questions you have.”
“What is going on? Who are you? Where am I? Who are all those people down there? Is this a joke? Is this real life?”
“Calm down, love,” you giggle. “One question at a time.”
“I don’t even know your name.”
“It’s Y/N.”
“Where am I?”
“You’re in the Underworld. It’s the place where everyone goes when they die. There is no Heaven or Hell. It’s all one place where we all reside.”
“So, you’re dead?”
“Yes.”
“How did you die?” Spencer’s eyes widen when he realizes how inappropriate that question is. “I’m sorry, it’s none of my business.”
“Spencer, you’re my husband. You can ask me anything you want. I was once in love with someone else. He was much older than I was and he told me everything I wanted to hear. He treated me like I was a princess and roped me in. When I told my parents about him, my father wasn’t thrilled I was with someone like him. He told me to stop seeing him but I wouldn't listen. This man and I decided to elope and run away. The only thing he told me to bring was cash and all the gold I could grab. I thought he wanted that to start our future with.”
Telling this story to someone in such an intimate setting brings you to tears but you refuse to let them fall.
“My mother’s wedding dress fit me like a glove. I waited at the base of the tree where you found me but he didn’t show up. I waited for what felt like hours. I was about to leave when he finally showed up. The last thing I saw was him charging at me. The first thing I saw when I woke up was my wedding dress was torn, my cash and gold were missing, and my skin was cold as ice. I was dead. I laid at the base of that tree for years, waiting for my Prince Charming to save me. Then you came along, and everything fell into place.”
“I‘m sorry,” Spencer sighs. “No one deserves that.”
“It’s in the past. You’re here now. Everything is better.”
“What about all those people down there? Are they all dead?”
“Everyone here is dead except for you. I had to bring you here. You fainted when I kissed you.”
“Can you blame me? The dead don’t rise where I’m from.”
“Fair enough,” you chuckle. “There’s good people down here. They’re super nice. If you allow it, I’d love to introduce you to some of them. Will that be okay?”
Spencer has had some time to wrap his head around this. He’s not panicking anymore, and his breathing is under control. He feels like he can address this with a calm head. He looks over your entire body and sees the ring on your skeleton hand. How the hell did he get himself in this situation?
“Yeah, that’ll be okay,” he nods.
You get up and grab Spencer’s hand that he doesn’t immediately shake off. You take him back down to the bar where everyone is having a good time. Marcy is doing shots with Dr. Hubert, and she waves you over when she sees you.
“That’s my best friend, Marcy. Next to her is Dr. Hubert. None of us need medical help, but he still likes to be called a doctor. It makes him in touch with his humanity.”
“Am I allowed to ask how they died?”
“Marcy’s story is even sadder than mine if you can believe it. I’ll let her tell you if she wants. Dr. Hubert drank himself to death. He wasn’t a bad doctor and was always sober when he was treating patients. He just had too much to drink one night and died.”
Pierre scatters across the bar counter with a tray on his head, passing out shots to people.
“Is that just a head?”
“Yeah, he was decapitated. We can’t find his body, but he’s happy like that. Come on, let me introduce you.” You take him over to the group and tap on Marcy’s shoulders. “Marcy, this is Spencer. He’s calmed down a bit.”
“Spencer! It’s so nice to meet you. You better make my girl happy.”
“Yeah,” Spencer chuckles, not knowing how to respond to that.
“Ah, he’s awake. Would you like a drink?” Pierre offers a shot.
“No, he doesn’t,” you quickly say and lean into Spencer. “You don’t want to drink this stuff.”
Spencer looks around the bar to see skeletons drinking. The liquid passes through them since they are all bones but they still enjoy it. There are others who are cut in half, so he can see the liquid slide down their bodies. Some are completely covered with flesh that looks like humans if not for the sickly grey skin. All these dead people but none of them look scary. In fact, everyone is having a good time just being in each other’s company.
If he’s being honest, this looks like a better time than most humans have up top.
“Come on, let’s sit.”
You take him over to a quiet spot in the corner where you can hear him if he talks. Spencer takes a seat and looks at the band on the stage. They’re all skeletons but they’re using their bodies as part of the instruments. One of them is using their legs as the base for a guitar, one is using a couple of heads as drums, and a bone trumpet. This is so weird but it seems to be working for them. Spencer has always thought there is some sort of life after you die, and this just so happens to be it.
“So, Spencer, tell me about you.”
“What do you want to know?”
“Why were you in that forest in the first place?”
Spencer thinks about the vows he’d been saying and his mind suddenly goes to Maeve who must be worrying crazy about him. He can’t possibly tell you about Maeve. He’s not sure how you’re going to react to that. He thinks of his parents and tries to think of a way to get out of this place.
“I needed some space to think, I guess.”
“By saying wedding vows?”
“My parents wanted me to marry young. I wanted to practice before I needed to use those vows.”
“Well, if it’s any consolation, you said them perfectly,” you smile.
“Thanks.”
“What are your parents like?”
“Overbearing at times. They come from money so they often forget what it’s like to live in a world where people don’t have money. Be thankful you don’t have to meet them.” A lightbulb goes off in Spencer’s head. This is how he’s going to get out of here. “You know what, you should meet them. After all, you are my wife.”
“I think that’s a wonderful idea! Where are they buried?”
“Oh, um, they’re not… dead.”
“Oh, they’re still living? My, that does pose a challenge. One that isn’t impossible. I have an idea. Come with me.”
You take him to the one person who knows how to get to the land of the living. He’s been here the longest, one of the firsts. He’s known to many as the Caregiver because he takes care of anyone who seeks him out. His house is located on the other side of town in an old library. His love for books is unmatched by anyone who is here. People from all over come to see the kinds of books he has.
“Wow, I’ve never seen a library quite like this one before.”
The library is run down and has pieces of the building missing but Elder Henry finds it endearing.
“Elder Henry loves this place. Won’t part with it,” you whisper as you walk in. “Elder Henry? Are you around?”
“Whose there?” Elder Henry hobbles out from behind a stack of books and adjusts his glasses to see better. “Ah, Y/N. What a surprise. It’s so good to see you, my dear.”
“Likewise. I’d like you to meet my husband, Spencer.”
“What’s that? Husband?”
“It’s nice to meet you, sir,” Spencer nods politely.
“What brings you two here?”
“We’d like to go to the surface. I know you have a spell for that.”
“Ah, the surface. I’ve never seen the appeal of the living even when I was among them.”
“Is it possible? Can you do it?” Spencer asks eagerly.
“Yes, I can. There are rules, you know. Rules you must follow or else you’ll be sent back here.”
“Which are?”
Elder Henry walks around his area and gathers the things needed for the spell. He never inserts himself in other people’s business so if you want to go to the surface, then he’ll help you get there. He doesn’t need to know why, he doesn’t need to know your intentions, and he doesn’t want to know.
“For one, if you wish to come back, you must say the secret word. Hopscotch.”
“That’s fun to say,” you grin. “Hopscotch!”
“Yes, but you must abide by their rules. After all, you’re a guest in their world. Whatever they say goes, so you must be careful who you talk to.”
“Don’t worry, we’re just going to meet his parents. I’m sure they’ll love me.”
“Are you both sure you want to do this?”
“Yes,” Spencer says a bit too quickly. He clears his throat and says it more calmly this time. “I mean, yes. We do.”
“Alright then.” He takes out the ingredients and mixes them together to create a golden cloud. “Remember, to come back, you must say Hopscotch.”
Elder Henry dumps the cloud onto you and Spencer, and you’re immediately transported to the forest where he married you in the beginning. The moonlight is especially bright this time of night, and you enjoy the smell of fresh air. It’s been so long since you’ve been up here and the thought brings you to tears. You hum happily and start to elegantly dance in circles around Spencer.
“I’ve spent all my time in the darkness, I’ve forgotten how beautiful the moonlight is,” you grin.
He can’t believe he’s going to betray you. He’s wanted nothing more than to get out of that hellhole since arriving. He’s gotten to know you a bit better but not enough to want to love you. There is potential in you, for sure, and you’re such a sweet woman who wants nothing but love. You’re kind, intelligent, free, and you don’t let the bad things that have happened to you stop you from living your life.
How can he walk away knowing he’s not going to his parents?
“Okay, I’m going to go get them. You heard Elder Henry. It’s best if you minimize your contact with the living as much as possible. Just stay here and I’ll go get them.”
“Okay,” you nod and sit down on a tree stump.
“I’ll be right back. Don’t worry, I’ll bring them.”
“I believe you,” you smile. “I’ll wait right here.”
Spencer walks away from you and when he’s far enough away, he looks back at you. You’re dancing and swaying in the moonlight, your dress flowing all around you. His heart is heavy with guilt but he turns back around and continues walking. Only until you’re out of sight does he sprint all the back into town.
He runs by a wall of fliers and stops short when he sees his face on one of them. It’s a missing poster sign with a reward of ten grand on it.
MISSING: SPENCER WALTER REID. IF SEEN, PLEASE CONTACT DIANA AND WILL REID. MISSING SINCE SEPTEMBER 29TH.
That’s more than a week ago. What the hell? Time must pass differently than it does in the Underworld. He passes by his parent’s house and heads straight to Maeve’s parent’s place. He doesn’t want to alert her parents of his arrival so he goes to the back of the house where her bedroom is. Her bedroom has a balcony where she can relax that has glass double doors that lead into the room.
He jumps over the fence and knocks on the window lightly. Meave is sitting on the couch by the fireplace knitting. She jumps at the sudden noise at her back door and turns to see who it is. Her eyes widen when she sees it’s Spencer.
“Spencer!” she gasps and sets her knitting down to approach him. She unlocks the back door and opens it to let him in. “Where have you been? We’ve been looking everywhere for you. Are you alright?”
“I can’t really explain,” Spencer stutters.
Maeve reaches out and touches his hand and pulls away with a gasp.
“You’re as cold as death. What happened to you?”
“Listen, I was very apprehensive last week about getting married to you. We just got into a relationship and I thought I wasn’t ready. I freaked out and left. I guess I needed time to wrap my head around sharing my life with someone. Then something clicked in my head. I want to marry you. I want to be your husband. I want this wedding to happen. I really really like you.”
“Oh, Spencer,” she smiles and caresses his cheek. “I really like you too. Maybe even love.” She leans in to kiss him but Spencer notices something moving outside on Maeve’s balcony. When he sees the white wedding dress, he gasps and staggers back. “Spencer? What’s wrong?”
Before Spencer can say anything, you open the door and allow a huge gust of wind to enter the room. Your veil flows over your head, and you cough as you move it out of your face. You look at Spencer and notice a young woman standing next to him.
“Darling, I just wanted to meet--Spencer, who is this?” you ask and slink up to his side.
“Who is she?” Maeve asks.
“I’m his wife,” you say and show off the ring he gave you.
She gasps when she recognizes it as the one he was supposed to give her.
“Spencer?”
“No, Maeve. I’m not married to her. She’s dead.”
He grabs your skeleton arm to show her and your heart breaks at the thought of him going to another woman’s home after marrying you. You yank your arm from him and step away with a deadly look on your face.
“Hopscotch,” you growl.
Just as quickly as you came to the land of the living, you returned just the same. You appear in Elder Henry’s library where you departed from. You push Spencer away from you with hot tears running down your face.
“I can’t believe you! You lied to me! You didn’t want to visit your parents. You wanted to go to that other woman!”
“Don’t you understand? You’re the other woman.”
“No! You married me!” you cry and turn away from him.
“She’s got a point,” Elder Henry shrugs.
“I thought things were going really well,” you sniffle.
“Look, I’m sorry but this can’t work.”
“Why not?” you ask and turn to face him. “It’s my bones, isn’t it? You don’t want to see them.”
“No, it’s not that,” he sighs and runs his hands down his face. “Look, you’re an amazing woman. You’re kind and sweet and I hate what that man did to you. Under different circumstances, I’d honestly want to be with you, but we’re too different. You’re dead.”
“You should have thought of that before you asked me to marry you.”
“Why can’t you see that it was a mistake? I would never marry you.”
Silence falls in the library. If your heart could break, then they would hear it. You’ll never be someone’s bride. Always the bridesmaid. How could you expect someone as good-looking and amazing as Spencer would want you? He realizes what he said but he can’t take it back. Your shoulder sag and you sigh sadly. You turn away and walk away to be alone. Spencer opens his mouth to say something but nothing comes out.
He lets you walk away.
You don’t know where you’re going just that you’re walking wherever your legs carry you. You find yourself at the park with a nice gazebo that is romantic most of the time. You take a seat under the middle of it and look at your wedding ring. He never wanted to marry you. This was a mistake. Who would want to marry you? Maybe you’re just damaged goods and too broken for anyone to love.
“Hey, are you okay? Where’s Spencer?” You look up to see Marcy walking over to you. It takes everything in you not to break down crying but you tell her the entire story. “I’m gonna beat his ass.”
“No, don’t. Maybe he’s right. Maybe we are too different. You should have seen her Marcy. She’s beautiful. Maybe he does belong with her. Little Miss Living,” you say in a sad, sarcastic tone. “With her rosy cheeks and beating heart.”
“Those girls got nothing on you. You’re so much better than them. Looks don’t matter. You’re such a kind and beautiful soul.” Her pep talk doesn’t seem to be working so she tries something else. “What does she have that you don’t? I don’t need to know what she looks like to know she doesn’t hold a candle to your beautiful smile.”
“How about a pulse?” you sigh.
“That’s overrated. Plus, she’s not wearing his ring. You are. She doesn’t compare to you.”
“She still breathes air.”
“Who cares? That shouldn’t matter when he knows the kind of person you are… how special you are.”
“I don’t want to be dead,” you whisper fearfully. “I never wanted to be dead. I wish I could be alive again. To feel the sun on my skin. To feel pain. Don’t get me wrong, I love everyone down here, but I can’t feel pain. Physical, that is. The pain I feel now… my heart hurts but it doesn’t beat, it’s breaking.”
Marcy puts a hand on your back and rubs it soothingly. She knows how long you’ve waited to find your Prince. You were a young girl in love just looking for someone to love you back. Is that too much to ask?
“What you just told me, it seems like the only redeeming feature about her is that she’s alive. You know that’s just temporary. Down here is forever. Down here is more than a lifetime.”
“I guess,” you sigh sadly.
“Y/N?” You and Marcy look up to see Spencer standing at the edge of the gazebo nervously. “Can I talk to you?”
“You’re about five seconds away from getting an ass-kicking,” Marcy growls and stands up.
“Marcy, it’s okay,” you calm her down. “I can handle this.”
“Just call if you need me.”
She walks off and Spencer takes her seat next to you.
“Listen, I’m sorry for what I said. I didn’t mean it.”
“I get it, Spencer. She has what I don’t. A beating heart.”
“That doesn’t… Look, it’s no secret you’re amazing. Even dead, you’re very beautiful. I don’t know how that other guy let you go so easily. I don’t know why bad things happen to good people. Just know that whatever our differences are, it’s not because you’re dead.”
“Do you mean that?” you ask and look up at him.
“Yes, I do.”
Spencer tucks your hair behind your ear delicately. This is the first romantic moment you two have had in weeks but it’s everything you could have wanted and more. Spencer notices someone walking in the distance and recognizes it as someone he knows.
“Excuse me.”
He gets up and leaves you alone on the gazebo bench. You’re not sure who this person is or what he is talking about, but Spencer leaves abruptly with an upset look on his face.
“Spencer?” you ask but he doesn’t look at you.
You get up to follow him but decide against it. He might need some time to himself, so you go searching for someone who might be able to help you. Marcy is in the bar where you first woke Spencer up, and she is playing a game of darts. When she sees you, she drops the darts and heads over to you.
“Is everything alright?”
“I don’t know.” You pull her off to the side so you can talk to her privately, an alley between the bar and the doctor’s office. “He apologized for what he said. We were having a moment but he saw someone he knew and went to talk to him. He walked off without another word. Are all men like this?”
“Sweetheart, be thankful you never had to deal with those kind of men. None of them are very bright.”
“Y/N, we need to talk.” You look to the right to see Elder Henry walking over with a book in his hand. “I’m afraid it can’t wait.”
“What’s going on?”
“There is a complication with your marriage. The vows are binding only until death do you part.”
“What are you saying?” you gasp fearfully.
“Death has already parted you.”
“No! If he finds out he’s gonna leave. There must be something you can do.”
Elder Henry puts the book on a trash can lid and flips a few pages.
“There is one way. It requires the greatest sacrifice. Spencer would have to give up the life he had forever. He would need to repeat his vows in the land of the living and drink from the wine of ages.”
“Poison!” you gasp.
“This would stop his heart forever. Only then would he be free to give it to you.”
Spencer is around the corner listening to the entire conversation. His eyes are wide in fear of what you’re going to say. He looks around the corner and sees you fall to your knees in sorrow.
“I could never ask him. What kind of person would I be if I took that away from him?”
Spencer really likes Maeve and could see a future with her, but he’s also torn with choosing you. All you wanted was for someone to love you unconditionally, and you will have that if he chooses you. He’s been spending all his time with you.
“You don’t have to,” Spencer says, making himself known. “I’ll do it.”
“My boy, if you choose this path, you may never return to the world above. Do you understand?”
Spencer holds his hand out for you and pulls you to your feet.
“I do.”
Looks like a wedding is happening. Everyone in the Underworld is excited that their own Corpse Bride is getting the moment she finally deserves. Spencer is kind of excited to be living down here after seeing so many people bond over being dead. Elder Henry works hard to create a spell that will transfer everyone down below to the world above. This will be the wedding of the century for both the living and the dead.
Because you’re going to the world above, you have to abide by their rules. The living weren't thrilled to have the dead roam the streets. In fact, they were mostly horrified to see skeletons walk down the street. Still, you and the others make your way down to the church for the ceremony. The pastor wasn’t too happy to have the dead knocking at his door, but you won’t allow him to spoil this evening.
Everyone settles into the pew as you and Spencer sand at the altar. Elder Henry walks behind the table and lays the book down with the bottle of poison. There is an empty cup next to Spencer while you have the whole bottle. Spencer has to admit that seeing your happy smile is bringing him joy.
This is it. This is what you’ve been waiting for since you were murdered.
“Dearly beloved and departed,” Elder Henry begins, “we are gathered here today to join this man and this corpse in marriage. Living first.”
Spencer turns to you and raises his right hand.
“With this hand, I will lift your sorrows.” He grabs the empty cup and raises it. “Your cup will never empty, for I will be your wine.”
“Now you,” Elder Henry says to you.
“With this hand, I will lift your sorrows.” You grab the bottle of poison to pour into his cup. “Your cup will never empty.” You pour the poison into his cup. “For I will be--” As you’re pouring, you notice someone standing next to a pillar behind Spencer. You do a double-take to confirm it’s Maeve. She’s dressed in a wedding dress. She must have gotten married to someone else and didn’t want that, so she came here in hopes of seeing Spencer. “I will be…”
“Go on, my dear,” Elder Henry says.
You take a deep breath.
“Your cup will never empty… for I will be…”
“I will be your wine,” Spencer finishes for you.
He raises the cup of poison to his lips to drink, but you can’t let him do this. You quickly put your hand over the top so he doesn’t drink a drop.
“She’s having second thoughts,” someone whispers in the crowd.
“I can’t,” you say and look at Maeve again.
“What’s wrong?”
He goes to look at what you’re looking at but you put a hand on his cheek to stop him. Your heart hurts again but not for you. It’s for them. You had your chance. Now you’re taking someone else’s chance.
“This is wrong. I was a bride. My dreams were taken from me. Now I’ve stolen them from someone else.” Two tears roll down your cheeks. “I love you, Spencer, but you are not mine.”
You hold your hand out to Maeve who walks into the light. Spencer turns and gasps when he sees her. Everyone in the crowd gasps as she joins you on the altar. You grab her hand and place it in Spencer’s before letting go of him.
“Oh, how touching,” someone says from the church doors. Everyone turns their head to see who it is, and when you catch a glimpse, your face goes ghostly white. You take a step back in shock and put a hand on the table to prevent yourself from falling. “I always cry at weddings. Our young lovers together at last. Surely now, they can live happily ever after.” The man walks down the aisle closer to the altar. “But you forget,” he grabs Maeve’s arm and pulls her into him, “she’s still my wife! I will not leave here empty-handed!”
“You,” you gulp.
The man looks at you and his eyes widen.
“Y/N? No, I left you.”
“For dead,” you say quietly.
Everyone in the church gasps loudly at the realization that the man who stands before you is your murderer. He backs away with Maeve in his arms just as everyone stands in anger for what he did to you. There is a corpse with a sword hanging out of his body that Justin grabs. He places the sharp end over Maeve’s throat with a glare.
“Take your hands off her,” Spencer glares and walks toward them.
“Do I have to kill you, too?”
Justin shoves Maeve away and goes to swipe at Spencer but he jumps out of the way. Spencer is not equipped for hand-to-hand combat so he’s easily outdone by Justin, but you’re not going to let Justin take away something else from you. Spencer trips and falls, making him an easy target. Justin raises the sword to bring it down on him but you quickly step in the way so that the sword ends up in you.
Everyone gasps in shock and backs away but the sword does nothing to you. You grip the handle of the sword and take it out of you before pointing it at Justin.
“Touche, my dear,” Justin says.
“Get out,” you give him a deadly glare.
“Oh, I’m leaving,” he chuckles darkly and walks around you to the table with the cup of poison. Although, he doesn't know it’s poison. He grabs it and holds it in the air. “First, a toast to Y/N! Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. Tell me, my dear, can a heart still break once it’s stopped beating?”
You want to cry. You want to scream and yell and kick but you’re not back home. All your friends get up to defend your honor but Elder Henry holds them back.
“We are in the land of the living. We have to abide by their rules.”
Justin raises the cup and drinks the entire glass. He walks away with his head held high but before he can get to the door, he chokes on nothing. He grabs his heart and staggers, and Elder Henry steps aside knowing that Justin is no longer part of the living.
“Not anymore,” Marcy smirks.
“She’s right. He’s all yours.”
All of your friends gather around the man who killed you to give him a taste of his own medicine. You turn to Spencer and Maeve who are overwhelmed by what happened.
“Spencer, I never thought I’d see you again,” Maeve smiles up at him.
You smile tearfully at the happy couple and turn to leave. You reach the doors to the church when Spencer stops you.
“Wait, I made a promise.”
“You kept your promise. You set me free.” You take off your wedding ring and place it in his open hand. “Now I can do the same for you.”
You turn and walk down the steps of the church only looking back once at Spencer. A white light encases your body as your soul is released to be whatever it wants to be. After years of being in pain, you’re finally able to take a deep breath in without it hurting.

A carved oak table tells a tale, of times when kings and queens sipped wine from goblets gold, and the brave would lead their ladies from out of the room to arbors cool. A time of valor, and legends born. A time when honor meant much more to a man than life, and the days knew only strife to tell right from wrong through lance and sword.
fantasy + cowboys + don quixote variety pack for Serennedy week
plus little snippet of a princess Luis story:
It's the moment of truth. Leon has hacked and slashed his way through what felt like endless waves of monstrous wolves and gigantic insects, navigated through a maze of a garden lined with thorny bushes, and solved a few puzzles. Finally he's reached the base of the tower. If the stories he's heard are true, there's a beautiful princess up at the top waiting to be rescued.
Scaling the tower isn't too bad. There's hardy vines growing on it, that Leon is able to use like a rope to climb up to the lone window at the tower's top. His heart races as he heaves himself through the window. There might be a beautiful princess in the room. A princess so beautiful and special that Leon will actually be attracted to her without conscious effort, and she'll be so grateful to finally be rescued that she'll agree to marry him right away.
Or the room will be empty, and Leon will just have to make peace with the fact he's going to die alone, because this whole “find a princess to rescue” thing was his last ditch effort after years of trying and completely failing to court women the normal ways.
Shutters magically snap shut behind Leon, covering the window, trapping him. The room is lavishly furnished. At the center is a large canopy bed, with intricately carved wood posts and lacy fabrics. And there's a figure in a dress laying on it. Success. It isn't until Leon gets closer that he realizes: It's a man. He approaches stealthily, dagger drawn and presses it to the man's throat.
“Oye, what the hell are you doing?! Barging into someone's bedroom, putting a knife to their throat?”
“There's supposed to be a princess here. You've got her dress. Where is she? What did you do to her?”
“Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there is no princess here. Never has been. Just a very charming prince who happens to enjoy wearing his mother's dresses.”
“You're kidding.”
“No, you have the wrong castle, hero boy. But, while you're here… Untie my hands?”
“I can't believe this,” Leon complains, rolling the man over and using his dagger to cut the rope tying his hands together. “I went through hell to get here expecting my soul mate, and instead I get you.”
“Easy, easy. I may not be the princess you expected, but I'm not nothing either! Can the handsome and amazing Prince Luis Serra know his savior's name?”
“Leon.”
“Thank you, Sir Leon,” Luis purrs, before breaking Leon's brain a little bit by boldly going in for a kiss. “Now let's get out of here. Just a few flights of stairs, no more traps. Oh, and there's a dragon at the bottom of the tower that you'll have to slay.”
“Of course there is. Whatever.”

synopsis . you thought coming face-to-face with prince jake would be the end of you, but sadly, getting dubbed by him seemed to be the least of your worries. note. this was originally a secret santa fic with a different idol, so sorry if there are name mistakes! this is also a repost from my old account if it seems familiar. i also apparently wrote this at 4am so please excuse the mess that this is. tagging . @stealanity @haerinz

Far, far away, past the weeping willows of the dark forests and the scorching sands of the sunburnt deserts, there laid a small vine opening, covered with twigs and vines, embedded in secrecy. Only those who seek this door could enter, and only those who dared to venture could truly experience the treasure they were meant to seek for.
Here beyond this secret entrance lay the land of Senkō, a land filled with prosperity and enchantment alike. Home to one of the world’s most charming cities, this empire carried an aura of purity that wrapped around and around and encased you tight, never wanting to let go.
And in the center of it lay a prince to match, feasting on the fresh pears from the palace garden and radiating a smile that could rival that of the blazing ball of fire that shone upon him.
“Master Jake! You shouldn’t be eating those pears; those are for the royal family’s bouquet at the end of the month!”
Jake leaned against the tree, eyeing the half-eaten pear in his hands, before glancing at the short maid who had come to warn him against his irresponsible actions.
And then he grinned.
He watched the maid’s cheeks turn bright red, resembling the rubicund apples in the orchard nearby. Nations far and beyond have acknowledged Prince Jake’s dazzling smile and incredibly handsome aura, and he was well aware of it, using it to his advantage to get out of trouble. Being flattering was simply a pastime for him.
“Are you sure I can’t have a few more pears? I’m sure I can… let you have a bite of this one if you wish.”
The maid turned profusely beet red as if she couldn’t have possibly turned into more of a tomato, and with a quick squeal, she scampered back into the castle, leaving behind a laughing Jake and a half-eaten pear.
“Didn’t know you were the designated castle flirt,” a familiar voice remarked, causing Jake’s eyes to shift to the new subject.
“You seem quite observant, Commander Sunghoon. I wonder if you would like a bite too?”
Jake dangled the pear in front of Sunghoon, commander of the royal army and his best friend, only to be met with mock disgust and a silent scoff.
“Quite humorous aren’t you, Prince Jake? Anyhow, I’ve come to ask for your presence at the induction ceremony for our recruits. Can’t have the nation’s brightest soldiers be dulled by the absence of the ever so coquettish prince, can we?”
Jake, biting the last part of the almost-finished pear, met Sunghoon’s glance with a smile. “Well, what are we waiting for? Lead the way.”
Tumblr media
You were quite nervous.
Throughout all the rigorous training you’ve endured for the past two years, you’ve never felt so anxious. Wielding a blade and charging headfirst were tasks that came most naturally to you, but social integration and public speaking were far from your line of expertise. A million uncertainties were running through your mind at the very prospect of failure in being dubbed a soldier, and you hoped you wouldn’t end up being the nation’s royal laughingstock.
What if you tripped on stage? What if you accepted the wrong award? What if you—
“Nervous?” you heard a voice murmur next to you, filled with light amusement and tender undertones.
“In your dreams Ni-ki,” you whispered back, not willing to show weakness, although you supposed your best friend knew you better than you knew yourself.
He let out a soft chuckle, well knowing of your dishonesties, and patted your uniform-covered shoulder in a gesture for comfort.
“You’ll be fine Y/N. Besides, everyone tends to get a little weak-hearted while standing next to Prince Jake. If anything goes wrong you can just blame it on him!”
It’s not that simple, you wanted to retort, but you didn’t have the heart to diminish Nishimura’s extra-cheerful attitude today. So, you just dipped your head in respect as a mere thanks, hoping your nerves would settle down and let you breathe.
“Oh, that’s my name! See you on stage Y/N!”
You watched as Ni-ki pranced onto the carpet-covered stage, a smile flitting across your face in pure affection. Eons ago, you both had vowed to become the finest soldiers of the royal guard and here you were today, fulfilling your dreams side by side.
You found your eyes shifting from the now kneeling Nishimura to the man upright in front of him, slender hands repositioning a blade from Ni-ki’s left shoulder to his right, a movement proclaiming your best friend’s newfound royal status.
Prince Jake. The man of everyone’s dreams and desires alike. You wished you weren’t prone to his charms, but alas, everyone has their weaknesses. Jake Sim’s smile just happened to be yours.
Having been lost in your contemplations, you hadn’t realized time was nearing your turn until your wandering eyes noticed Ni-ki making his way off the stage.
“And now, let us welcome the highest-ranking recruit of this division, Y/N!”
It felt like a blur walking onto the platform, clad in combat boots and your royal uniform. Despite the loud clapping and the shrill cheering from your comrades, your eyes were trained on the man adorned in regal blue, a man you supposed you’d need to grow accustomed to.
Your breath hitched as he stepped forward to perform your accolade, and you mentally cursed yourself for having the qualities of a fangirl at this very moment. Ni-ki was right; Prince Jake had the vexatious ability to take anyone’s breath away (not that you were complaining).
“I don’t suppose you need this dubbing,” you heard, the faintest whisper of a melody so familiar yet so unique, “for your skills are far more worthy of recognition than my blade.”
Cheeks burning, you turned akin to a beetroot as you bowed your head in respect, heart thumping at the mere delight of such a wonderful man praising yours truly.
“We mustn’t skip formalities, your royal highness,” you whispered back, kneeling on one leg before him, “because even one as skilled as me would enjoy the honor of your unsheathed steel on my shoulders.”
You sensed the lightest grin pass across his face as he performed the rite of passing, and as he helped you stand back up to shake his calloused palm, he leaned in to make the faintest promise.
“One day, I hope I can have the opportunity to duel with you, the ever-so-skilled Y/N, in a match of fencing. After all, you aren’t quite the only one to receive such honor, hmm?”
Tumblr media
True to his word, Jake arranged a duel with you. Rather than just wanting to see your form in action, the fight was arranged for a more subtle aim: Jake’s desire to get to know you. Surprisingly, or rather, unsurprisingly, he admitted that he still remembered every detail of your first encounter. He knew it seemed a little obsessive, but then again, all the male characters in books have been victims of the love-at-first-sight syndrome.
Why exactly he found you so fascinating? He didn’t quite have the answer to that himself. Maybe it was the way your confidence was nowhere to be seen despite your highest-ranking title, or the fact that you were still able to utter out cautions about formalities despite looking like you were to go faint any moment. He couldn’t deny that he found you a little cute (just a little). He’d never had a knight fancy him, especially a high-ranking one, but he wasn’t one to carp. The thought of your duality merely aroused his attention, which is why he was so keen on carrying out this match.
Although, Jake’s plans didn’t exactly schedule themselves as he wanted, because when he arrived at the grass training grounds, uniform poised and blade in tow, he was met with the faces of the rest of your peers, eager eyes ready for action.
“Sunghoon, what is the meaning of this?”
“My apologies Jake, for how would the elders take it if the royal prince wanted an individual match with a recruit?”
“Oh, you know I meant no harm—”
“Obviously, however, other people simply don’t have the pleasure of knowing your royal highness as well as I do. I kindly ask you to adjust to the current circumstances and carry this forward as a teaching lesson, rather than a chance to fancy yourself with a new lover.”
Jake paled at Sunghoon’s words, turning to face him with an impeccable glare.
“Don’t be so surprised Jake; I too am capable of noticing wandering eyes. Whether your thoughts start as mere interest or mad infatuation, please be cautious of your actions. Tis the season to be betrothed, after all.”
With the warnings ringing throughout his ears, Jake stepped up to the platform, meeting your curious eyes. Simultaneously, you both bowed, and Jake was taken aback to the formalities you’d mentioned previously before. Today you looked more at ease, and he couldn’t quite figure out what for. Was it because combat came naturally to you? Or perhaps it was the reconnection of you both? Only time would tell.
Although this was an obligatory battle, seemingly for educational and ritual purposes, Jake could sense that you wouldn’t go easy on him. That wasn’t what worried him. Jake also wasn’t the most skilled in hand-to-hand combat, and he knew what the outcome of this event would be. That wasn’t what worried him either.
What worried him was the realization that he was excited to be with you again. He recalled the past few days, tracing through them to find that his mind had often wandered off to the upcoming battle with you. The thought of getting to know how you carried this particular interest of yours, the thought of meeting your gaze again, the thought of merely perceiving you had plagued his mind until this very moment. He felt like a fool, like a little boy eyeing a certain pastry he had craved through the windowsill. Maybe Sunghoon’s wandering eyes were right; maybe he was smitten with you.
He looked up to see you unsheathing your sword, preparing for the beginning. He mimicked your action, the blade unfamiliar and uncomfortable in his hands, designed to flaunt rather than to function. The both of you poised with your arm outstretched, blades crossing and knees bent.
He could tell by the slight grin on your face that you were well aware of the outcome. He wondered if you knew he visited for entirely different reasons than battle, but judging by your expression he knew the answer was quite evident.
He was so distracted by you that he didn’t even realize the start of the duel. He focused to see that you had knocked the heavy blade of out his hand (doing him a favor, really) and as it soared in the sky, you twirled him around and pulled his back flush against your frame, encompassing him in a body lock. Jake couldn’t care less about what you were doing to him. The mere feeling of you sharing contact with him was enough to make his brain go dizzy. And quite surprisingly, he sensed that you were affected too, due to the evident rising heartbeat against his chest.
As the fight commenced and the audience clapped (blasphemy really, Jake hadn’t carried out a single action the entire time), his attention focused on your figure, which was walking off the platform. He noted your slight trembling hands and your heavy breathing, accompanied by the lack of eye contact he had once received before.
Were you nervous? Embarrassed? Or perhaps, blushing? These thoughts haunted Jake as he returned to his chambers, falling into a restless sleep filled with you, you, and only you.
Tumblr media
A couple of weeks later, you had the opportunity to tour the extravagant castle. It was a part of your training, in case the palace ever fell under attack and you were required to defend it, however, most of your comrades took it as an opportunity to finally experience a sliver of royalty that they had never had growing up. As most of you came from poor backgrounds, the diamond chandeliers and velvet carpets seemed daunting and awe-striking, and you swore some of your units had hearts in their eyes as they dragged their fingers along the winding corridors of the palace.
You, however, weren’t quite as interested. The sole purpose for your visit was education and you made sure to concern yourself with only that, disregarding most of the accessories and amenities the palace had to offer. You didn’t really focus on most of the extravagant interior (although that was probably the most vital segment in your training) because you knew it was filled with barely-touched rooms designed to complement and boast. All fortresses were built with the sole impression of looking majestic, and the only part you deemed important for your training were the places in which the royal family frequented.
You were told that Jake enjoyed the palace gardens, so you ventured off to exactly there, mentally mapping out particular landmarks that you help you familiarize layout. You could see exactly why he frequented this location; the white rose bushes and worn stone paths resounded a sense of serenity, and you soon forgot about the actual reason you were here, continuing to inhale every petal and feel every path of grass underneath your sole-covered toes.
Somehow you had found your way to the fountain, sitting on the edge and tracing your palm across the clear water drawing ripples. You had laughed when you first found the location because of the angel sitting atop the basin, reminding you exactly of the man behind the reason you had come here.
Jake. It always seemed to steer back to him. After your duel you simply couldn’t stop your brain from wandering off to his presence, the way he moved, his pretty eyelashes, his kissable li—
“Y/N, are you okay?”
You hadn’t realized you were extremely close to falling into the fountain until Jake’s voice resounded, bringing you out of your quite embarrassing daydream. A flush covered your rosy cheeks as you locked gazes with him and nodded, letting him pull you up to your feet and away from the water.
“What are you doing here?” he asked, gripping your shoulders lightly.
Your brain felt dizzy from the direct contact, and your throat dried up as you attempted to speak.
“Training, walking around memorizing—”
“Calm down Y/N, I understand. Please take a seat love, you must’ve had quite the shock from almost falling into that fountain,” he responded, gesturing to a patch of pasture as he pulled you down next to him.
If your brain wasn’t malfunctioning already, it definitely was now. Love. The word floated through your head like dandelion seeds in rough winds, like a kite gone lost. No one had ever called you such an endearing term before, and despite not knowing Jake’s intentions behind it, you still cherished the four letters he had chosen to label you.
You wondered what Jake would say if he knew the reason you almost fell was the fact that you were daydreaming about him. Or perhaps he already knew? You turned to ask him something of the sort, only to meet his preset gaze on you already.
Maybe it was a part of your imagination, but he stared at you as if you held the universe in your arms. If Jake Sim was the sun, he stared at you as if you were an even brighter star speckled somewhere far, far away from his vicinity, yet so, so close. His stare was so warm, so tender that it made you want to shine more brilliantly to keep that expression within his eyes and his heart and never, never ever let go of it.
“Why are you staring at me like that?” you found yourself asking instead, your tense atmosphere dissipating and shifting into something more fond, more affectionate.
“Like what?” he returned, a slight grin on his face indicating he already knew the answer.
“Like you’re in love with me,” you blurted out, the impact of your words hitting you only after you’d recited them.
His gaze shifted, turning into something rawer and more emotional, almost as if you had crossed an unknown boundary and he didn’t know how to react to it. You could feel regret filling your feelings, and maybe he sensed that too because he changed the topic, effectively shutting down any potential outbursts.
“Come on Y/N, let’s get you back to the castle. Your comrades must be worrying about your absence.”
Since then, it had become quite the regular occasion for you to cross paths with the prince in the palace gardens (willingly or unwillingly, you wouldn’t answer). Sometimes you had Ni-ki in tow (only for him to be cast aside anyway), and sometimes you strolled alone, subconsciously keeping an eye out for the man that had somehow bewitched your heavy heart.
You didn’t know when the line blurred between admiration and romance, but you quite simply didn’t care because the Jake Sim had given you his time in return for conversation. He seemed to be enjoying seeing you, talking to you, breathing with you, sitting with you so close that your shoulders almost touched and you could lean over and kiss him. Out of all the pretty humans, he wanted your time, your affection, your words, and your smiles. And you certainly weren’t complaining.
At times you’d find yourselves talking about anything and everything in the world, and at others, you’d fall into silence, bedridden with comfort. His presence grew consolatory to you, an aphrodisiac you’d simply succumbed to throughout the routine of your lifestyle. His figure often occupied your thoughts before you slept, and you’d wake up to the chirping birdcalls in anticipation of your next meeting. Dreaming, you were, as you floated with your feet in the dappled clouds blessed with the warm sunshine that was Jake’s laughter.
Deep within your mind, buried for a later reflection was the hidden notion of restriction, of not being allowed to fall for the charms of his royal highness. A dangerous tightrope you pranced on, shying towards his flirtatious advances and straying away from the acceptance of your feelings. You knew that one day had to come to terms with reality, but that day was not today, not yesterday, not tomorrow. Soon, you presumed, soon enough to infiltrate your worries but not soon enough for you to distance yourself from your growing affections.
One day, when the night sky was particularly clear and the white stars were particularly bright, Jake asked you a simple question.
“Y/N, what happens when you… you want something you can’t have?”
You turned to your side, meeting the heavy, cautious glance of the human next to you. Jake always seemed very grown up to you, perhaps because of his princely duties, but at this very moment, he resembled a childish boy, as if he had broken a vase behind his mother’s back and tried to hide from his consequences.
You couldn’t tell if you enjoyed his cautious vulnerability, but you did have the slightest inkling of the layers hidden underneath his seemingly simple question.
“Well, it’s human nature, your royal highness. I suppose it—”
“No but, what happens?” he prompted, effectively cutting your words off and leaving you wordless.
“Well,” you started after some consideration, trying to phrase your answer quite sensibly, “well then, it’s simple. You bear the consequences. Because Jake, we all want what we can’t have.”
And the look on his face haunted your dreams for many nights.
Tumblr media
The royal banquet was an event many anticipated, Jake very well included. Delicacies from far and wide were served upon gold platters (made with numerous ingredients such as the pears Jake was discovered feasting on), and although it served as a chance for royal delegations with countries much like theirs, the entire palace staff was invited. It was an occasion simply to remember, and Jake being excited was a bit of an understatement.
Jake couldn’t deny that a factor of his enthusiasm was your attendance this year. Despite having many acquaintances, the only person Jake typically interacted with at formal events was Sunghoon, and your presence would be a nice contrast to his usual experience.
(And maybe he’d been waiting for a chance to see you outside of your occasional garden getaways, but he’d never admit to it.)
From the moment Jake arrived at the occasion, his eyes were searching for you. Although he knew training kept you for quite a while, his gaze was always focused on the entrance, hesitantly waiting with a chocolate mousse in hand.
“Sunghoon, when do you suppose the knights will arrive?”
“Your Highness, not to be disrespectful but you’ve asked this question thrice already. They will be here soon, I swear.”
“Sorry Sunghoon,” Jake responded, embarrassed but too bashful to care, “as you can see, I’m quite impatient.”
“It is quite obvious, your Highness. Here, why don’t we preoccupy ourselves with conversation? I’m sure our comrades from far and wide will be expectant to speak a few words with you, hmm? It will take your mind off, ahem, a particular other person.”
Conversation was the plan and Jake followed it, mingling with his guests to distract himself. As a prince, Jake was born and raised to frequent polite manners and converse equivalently, but truth be told, his usual acquaintances were young women seeking a way to his heart (and his money). At normal times he wouldn’t be bothered by such minor inconveniences, but today he just couldn’t seem to return the same flirtatious advances.
Maybe it was due to the certain soldier lingering at the tip of his tongue, the corners of his brain. Jake was extremely lucky that he was graced with a good enough appearance that women seemed to be entranced by because, without it, he most likely would’ve received complaints regarding his obvious disinterest towards people who garnered it.
He was able to flutter around casually until his mother pulled him aside, excitedly urging him to direct his attention to his father’s annual oration. Jake was, simply put, perplexed as to why she was so enthusiastic about a simple speech, but he followed his mother’s orders, anticipation bubbling inside his ever-so-faint heart.
He should’ve protected his heart while he could’ve.
“With proud honor, I would like to announce the betrothal of my son, Jake Sim, to the elegant princess of the Shin kingdom, Princess Yuna!”
The only emotion Jake felt was numbness. Despite Sunghoon shaking his shoulder like a madman and a multitude of cheers resounding around him, the only thing that phased Jake was the distant sound of a plate crashing, igniting an unknown fear hidden deep within his heart.
And as clapping echoed around Jake, he whipped around to see broken shards of glass speckled on the floor, and the love of his life running away with the intention of never seeing him again.

In many novels you had read the phrase ‘the heart grows fonder with distance’, but you never assumed it to be true until you started evading the prince.
It had been approximately three weeks since your last meeting (not that you were counting), and you seemed to be facing insanity. Once a narrative that followed romance novels, your tale now diverged into that of heartbreak and sorrow, betrayed by the person whom you were most bewitched by.
No books in your library explicated how to heal a torn heart, so you confided in the most trustworthy source you knew: Nishimura Riki.
“See Y/N, this is why you should never trust a man.”
“But Ni-ki you—”
“I’m the exception.”
Was your best friend the most suitable option for comfort? Mayhaps not, but he tried to the best of his abilities, and you appreciated his efforts.
Three consecutive knocks startled the both of you and before you could even stand upright, Ni-ki had opened the door, coming face to face with the royal commander. The both of you bowed to your superior, who merely waved the formalities off and requested an audience for a short while.
“Knight Y/N, I request you see the prince immediately as—”
“With all due respect Sir Sunghoon, I have no desire of interacting with his royal highness ever again.”
“Y/N—”
“My decision is final.”
With a dejected expression and a heavy heart, Sunghoon left the building, leaving you with a shattered mind and a dull ache in your chest. Today’s interaction had broken the thin wall you had mentally built to separate you and your lover, and you traveled right back to the beginning as if you had just run away from a shattered glass plate and a wedding announcement.
The only word to describe your predicament was reality. You and Jake had spent weeks floating around in the heavens, soaring through the skies like kites let free. Now your feet were grounded, bound in shackles that hauled behind you, growing heavier and heavier with each teardrop.
You suppose there was a way to free yourself, but it wasn’t a solution that would be found yesterday, today, or tomorrow. Once soaring, you were now drowning, ruined in the faint memories of him, him, and only him.
Days passed with monochromasy, and you buried yourself in work with the hopes of distraction. The gardens were a plate untouched, unseen to your naked eye, and instead, you frequented the confines of your bed, once slumbering with dreams about a certain man now only to slumber with cold rivulets gushing down your cheeks instead.
Hatred filled your once curious heart, seeping deep within chambers once filled with pliant affection. You found yourself obsessively irritated at training, lashing out at your colleagues for the simplest of matters and aggressively sparring during practice. As a knight, you well knew that patience was key, but Jake Sim had ignited your murderous streak and cursed you with eyes of red vision, fury the only lens through which you noticed your surroundings.
But most ironically, you hated that you wished him back. Dusk was spent with tear-stained cloths and torn newsletters, every inch of your being reminding you of who you once were. And you hated that while you were suffering, he was enjoying his new fiancé, frequenting ballrooms and relishing lively conversation.
You wanted him gone (and yet you wanted him close). You really did.

“So, Jake, what’s your favorite color?”
Jake hated everything about this setup. Currently, he was spending time with his bride-to-be (his parents had forced him to for a good relationship), and he wouldn’t be lying if he said this was extremely awkward. There was nothing wrong with Yuna per se; in all the right circumstances, Jake would’ve thought her an ideal bride. However, she wasn’t you. She wasn’t the one that he was in love with, the one that flitted through his dreams every night, the one he spent every day thinking of, the one he was smitten with.
“It’s blue. Yours?”
“Mine too!”
They both fell silent. Silence. Whenever the noise diminished between you and Jake, it felt comfortable. It was nice to cherish and he basked in it. But this silence? This silence was awkward, something he wanted to throw off a jagged cliff and never see again.
“You’re in love with someone, aren’t you?” Yuna suddenly asked, chewing on a piece of asparagus.
“What? Of course not. And even if I was, it wouldn’t matter.”
“Jake, I don’t want to spend an eternity with someone that doesn’t love me.”
His heart softened at her words, and he turned to glance up at her calculating gaze as if he was a mathematics theorem she was meant to prove. And Jake despised math.
“But we can’t—”
“We can Jake. If you will for something so badly, the universe will grant your wish. And I can see your desperation, Jake. You’re in love.”
“Stop. Please. Don’t make this harder than it has to be.”
They both fell silent again but this time it seemed tense, conniving. After a few moments of shifting the uneaten steak on his plate, Jake spoke up again.
“I apologize. I shouldn’t have been so impolite,”
“No no, the fault is mine. I intruded into decisions that you should be making, and I just heavily influenced you.”
“If you don’t mind me asking, have you ever been in love with someone Yuna? Do you know what it feels like?”
Yuna stopped playing with the food on her plate, freezing at Jake’s words.
“I have been in love, actually.”
Jake waited silently, noticing Yuna’s shaking hands.
“Love is a fragile thing, Jake. Once shattered, no matter how much you try to put the pieces back together, they won’t ever fit the same. I shattered it, Jake. I shattered my love for her because I wasn’t brave enough to back out of this arrangement.”
With caution, Jake outstretched his arm, silently holding Yuna’s as a sign of comfort. Although he couldn’t see her teardrops, he could hear them.
“Please Jake, please don’t make the same mistake as me.”
He looked up at her, teary-eyed and soulless, urging him on.
And then he ran.
He ran and he ran, as far as his legs could take him and even past the point of that, with only one goal in mind. Time felt supersonic, a blur that he seemed to experience only with the presence of you. Your name was all that echoed in his mind. He didn’t know where you were, or how you were doing, but he knew he had to find you. To tell you how much he loved you, how much he wanted you, how much of a fool he was letting you go. He was an idiot. But he was yours.
Your house was the first place he had visited, opening the door to a slightly angry Nishimura who relaxed once realizing the situation. He didn’t know where you were. He tried the training ground, only to see it empty. The garden, and the banquet hall, all empty. He felt like he was losing his mind, a game of cat and mouse making him a madman.
And then it hit him.
He burst open the doors to the stage, seeing you sitting on top, tracing mindless circles into the polished wood. You looked up at his entrance, your eyes filling with rage and angst as you turned to get up and leave the area.
He hated it. Eyes once filled with love and affection towards him now were violent. He loathed that he was the cause of your misery. And he was going to do everything to fix it.
“Y/N! Y/N please, please don’t leave. Just listen to me for five minutes. That’s all I ask.”
You stilled, your backbone facing him. “And why should I?”
“Because, because I made a mistake. I’ll admit it; I knew that day would come. I knew my fate was predetermined and it was my stupid fault for being a coward to not change it. And yes, I made a mistake in falling for you.”
“Is this what you—”
“But I don’t regret it. Not one bit. Because if loving you was a mistake, then I’d make it over and over again for the rest of my life. If loving you was a mistake, then suddenly I adore mistakes, because loving you was the best thing that could ever happen to me.”
He trudged up the platform, facing your tearful eyes.
“You once told me that we all want what we can’t have. I couldn’t have you Y/N. But I wanted you. I still do, so, so badly.”
He kneeled, handing you the sword he’d dubbed you with the first day you two had met.
“I want to be with you Y/N. No matter how hard it is, I want to try. So will you dub me as a knight for your love?”
He couldn’t tell what you were thinking. With tears streaming down your face and his heart pounding out of his chest, he braced himself for the worst, closing his eyes shut.
Only for you to shakily shift the blade from his shoulder to shoulder, dropping down to your knees and hugging him, crying into his shoulder.
“Knights swear an oath to never do the wrong thing, you idiot,” you speak softly, breathily, and he can feel your small smile against his shoulder. “Then I’ll be an idiot. Your idiot.”

"my prince, what if the king sees us?" you shivered in hesitant uncertainty. you stood before prince ricky, your eyes wide with a mix of excitement and anxiety. the moonlight streamed through the ornate windows of the castle, casting ethereal shadows across the grand chamber.
ricky, heir to the kingdom's throne, grinned mischievously and took your hand gently. "fear not, my dear yn," he reassured you, his voice a soft whisper. "tonight, the stars are our guardians, and the flowers shall keep our secret. the garden beckons us to create something beautiful."
your heart fluttered as ricky's words melted your reservations. the prince's charm was as undeniable as his determination. you glanced down at the floor, unsure of what to do.
ricky's fingers interlaced with yours, and he continued, "the garden is a realm of its own, where worries vanish, and only the present moment matters. will you join me in weaving flower crowns, the stars as our witnesses?"
hand in hand, you ventured out into the castle gardens, your steps hushed on the cobblestone path. moonflowers and roses nodded their approval as you passed, their scents mingling in the air. ricky's words of encouragement and your heartbeat seemed to synchronize as you reached the heart of the garden.
underneath a canopy of twinkling stars, you and ricky knelt amidst a tapestry of vibrant blooms. with nimble fingers, you wove delicate stems into intricate crowns, laughter and whispers punctuating the serene night. he held up a delicate moonflower crest, adorned with leaves and helitropes that glimmered from the rain like stars.
"for you" he uttered as he gingerly placed the tiara atop your head. your eyes welled with tears, touched by the prince's sincerity. as you fashioned your floral creations, your souls entwined like the vines that adorned the castle walls.
