Me, to my new date: doctor who thinks it's a sci-fi story because the Doctor thinks it's a sci-fi story and because the companions think it's a sci-fi story, but it's really just a story about ghosts. a story about an ancient creature carrying the ghosts of everyone they have ever loved, meeting new people, and seeing them only as future ghosts. they are haunted by the future and the past and the present because they are the only constant in a world constantly in flux, and they are running as fast as they can to things before they burn and fade to dust but everything will always end, you understand, because this is the only thing the Doctor understands and yet they keep going. they love too much to stop. doctor who is not science-fiction, it's horror and optimism and spiritual more than anything else, it's religious unto itself, the TARDIS is a haunted house and a church and a graveyard and a hospital and the Doctor is the most haunted being in the universe but more than anything, this is a love story, because how can you love something without being haunted by it- hey, what are you doing?

I did a thing today! I made the Isaac Potts House in the Sims 4. This was the house that was George Washington's headquarters at Valley Forge in winter of 1777-1778. I've been wanting to build it for ages and it's Gwash's birthday so I finally did. I like to think, sometimes about all the things the walls of this house saw. Hamilton and Laurens kissing, probably. Maybe more. A hundred mornings of the aides laughing. Lafayette coming to talk endlessly with Washington. The boys meeting Martha and everyone welcoming Von Steuben.

I'm actually SUPER proud of the recreation. From the front it looks really good. But pure honesty, things don't translate perfectly in the Sims. Some things you have to go "this doesn't look good in the Sims. Am I going for accuracy or prettiness or the vibes?" Or some things just don't work(More on that under the cut). (Oh and the small bedroom is the bedroom Lams shared in Duty and Inclination I know it's not official but like. Lams bedroom sharing)

This shell is CC free but does use a fair amount of packs cause I was going for accuracy. It's up on my gallery, ID Minimoon46, though. I can say Castle Estates is just for outdoor stair railings on the back and sides of the house so super easy to download without CE

Like the kitchen. If I wanted to attach it, I couldn't put it on the ground, it had to be on the same foundation level and tbh I LOVE the look of the stone archway tunnel so we had to deal with a raised kitchen and stairs. (or the entire house could've been on a platform but that would've been ASKING for bugs)

Also the windows of the Aide-de-camp's office are so off. But the other shuttered windows seem so small and I wanted to go larger windows so we lost the traditional panes and white shutters but the vibes fit better. The little hanging over the front door looked horrible so I was like nope you're not getting included. It would've needed to be an actual porch to get included.

Inside it's mostly a shell but what details are there I got from the virtual tours online. I took liberties with a wallpaper that I liked better that purely plain white walls but the floor should be decent. I gave each room a door and a fireplace of a semi accurate color(I wanted to make them uniform) in appearance. I cut the attic bedroom though.

I kinda want to furnish it but also not sure HOW. Do I furnish it like the current one? Do I just do it for fun? A regular home? A big shared study and a dining room? It would be a waste to furnish TWO studies. What about bathrooms? The kitchen would be more modern though ngl. (Would people be interested in a furnished version? Any ideas?)

There's something about this house that I just want to see in person and feel the air knowing that... they were there. Like in that tiny house, they lived and loved and were real people. And there's no place where that feeling fills me more than the IPH. Maybe one day.

I felt like Winchester was feeling too small for Daphne, loved the island vibes but it was a little too small, always running into the same people and with not that much to do on a friday night when she's not working so I moved her over to SimLau Isles.

Ride the Cyclone Kids At The River

Penny: omg, Ocean, it’s your cousin!

Ocean: YOU’RE NOT FUNNY

The water is COLD

Catch Noel out here squealing like a pig over this

Meanwhile, Penny is dead sprinting into the water

A moment later, she’s screaming because here comes Mischa, and he nearly jumps right onto her

Constance is still on the bay going, “sunscreen!! sunscreen, everyone!!!”

Ocean out here with the rash guard again!

AND the Crocs!

Noel prefers the river over the beach

It’s a lot more relaxing

Nice setting to write some poetry

Ricky likes to sit in the shallows and make dams out of rocks

His Water Now

Mischa and Penny want to go explore the riverside, so they take Ocean with them to “supervise”

Poor Ocean is having to clamber up all these rocks that these two INSIST on climbing up

She doesn’t have much upper body strength

Or any body strength

Meanwhile, Noel is sunbathing and enjoying the silence that isn’t broken by the sound of the hooligans (Penny and Mischa) romping around, Constance is reading peacefully in the shallows, and Ricky’s dam is slowly but surely growing

Penny brought THIS

She and Mischa tried to ride it down the river together

But their added weight caused it to sink

They have to fuckin scoot across the riverbed to even move

And the other choir members are just gawking from the bay

The kids also decide to go tubing while they’re at the river!

That means they have to hike upstream, and Rocky insists he can just stay behind, but like hell they’re leaving him out

So Penny and Mischa take turns pulling him in a tube through the water

Ricky is traveling in style 😌

Walking upstream is a pain in the ass, but SOMEHOW Mischa and Penny are undeterred

Noel and Ocean, on the other hand, consider stopping short because this is EXHAUSTING

FINALLY, they find a good spot, hop in the tubes they’ve been having to lug with them, and begin the ride down

It’s so peaceful…

Penny: i love peeing as hard as i can, makes me feel like a pressure washer

Noel: i know too much about you

In the deeper part of the river, there’s this rock sticking out of the water that is the BEST jumping spot

Noel climbs up there just to take in all the scenery and has no intention of jumping, but Penny looks him up and down once before shoving him off the edge

His scream is quickly interrupted by the loud SMACK as he hits the water

He was LEERING up at Penny from beneath his flattened hair all over his face

He looks like a wet cat

Constance jumps off, and then Mischa jumps off almost immediately after because sometimes he doesn’t think, and he doesn’t realize what he’s done until the last moment, and he’s so worried he just leapt straight on Constance’s head

He just BARELY missed her

Penny is trying to decide the best jumping pose she should do when Noel comes CHARGING at her and knocks her off, going down with her

REVENGE

From the bay, Ocean’s FOMO is starting to kick in, so she wants to join in on the jumping! Or, at least, she wants to sit up on the rock and be around the others

So, she gets on that stupid dolphin blowup (because remember, this bitch can’t swim), and Penny pulls it over to the rock

…Or, Penny was SUPPOSED to

Penny though it was funny to abandon Ocean halfway to the rock and pushes her away

Ocean is stranded

She just starts YELLING for help

She looks like a disowned baby red panda clinging to the back of this goofy dolphin blowup

Constance rescues her

Finally, she gets to the rock!

And then she promptly slips because it’s slippery and busts her ass on solid stone

Long story short, her tailbone is cracked

At one point, Ocean lets out the most shrill scream, and they all turn to see one of her Crocs floating away down the stream
