Rise in Housing Prices Forces Brazilians to Live in Tents in Portugal
Improvised camp brings together dozens of immigrants in one of the most upscale areas of greater Lisbon
Amid soaring prices for renting or buying a house in Portugal, there are more and more Brazilian immigrants forced into precarious housing situations, including overcrowded accommodation and even camping tents. In a wooded wasteland in front of Carcavelos beach, one of the most valued regions of greater Lisbon — next to an English school where the children of Lisbon's elite study, with monthly fees around €1,400 (R$7,400) — the number of improvised homes has been growing in recent months.
Among the new and old residents of the place, there are at least 20 Brazilians. Some are accommodated in old motorhomes, but most are housed in plastic tents.

Just posting this so yall know im not dead haha
Not really state related this time since i was trying to figure out how to draw my own country cuz we are nearing a national holiday (april 25th).
And as a lil life update, my teachers decided to give me tons of assignments due in april and may so im busy as hell. Also, national elections happened and now we have 50 fascists in the parliament on the 50 years of our independence from fascism, which is not cool to say the least.
Anyways, im gonna try to make some sketches when i can and do some cool big art when im able to

Tomorrow is the Portuguese elections (our prime minister resigned) and I want to write into the void why they are so many people who STILL don't know who to vote for, the best way possible and the way I understood.
Mind you, Portugal has multiple political parties unlike countries like the US where you only have two options, but there's no center option.
1. Vote for Left or Right
Seems logical right? Here's a big problem: alliances.
Political parties can and will create alliances if there isn't a party who got +50% of the votes (this has happened like two governments ago).
(The far-right has been threatening with an alliance for a while now, and it's looking likely. If it happens: high chance we go back to dictatorship)
The people don't have a choice in these alliances and it completely defeats the purpose of voting.
2. Vote for a party will not make an alliance
No alliance seems like the solution.
Problem: these parties don't have alliances because they are too small and they don't even have representation in the government. They literally do nothing.
3. Vote PS
Left political party that has won EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR.
There only one time they didn't win so they used the alliance to "win" anyway.
This is not an option: this year's candidate doesn't know what the fuck he's doing; the reason why our governments keep falling is because of this political party that keeps being dragged in controversy and corruption. Nope. We can't keep saying we want something to change while always voting the same party that has proved time and time again they don't know what they are doing.
4. Not vote
Not an option. If you don't vote, someone chooses for you. We need to vote.

Just gonna add, that the fucking page has DRAWINGS. FOR THAT SPECIFIC REASON.
Roday is election day in portugal and there's a party called AD which is the right wing party and that's all you need to know but there's another one called ADN which is also right wing but to give you an idea they have a poster on one of the busiest avenues in Lisbon that says "vote against the climate myth" or something with the picture of a cow farting and that pretty much sets it apart from the other which an old coalition and there had been predictions by random people that voters were going to mistake one for the other and well. Guess what they've already published an article saying exactly what you need to do because people have persistently voted in the wrong party and I think this conveys the ignorance of this country when it comes to elections

Opinions on the fact that we don't have a prime minister anymore?
On the funnies "Oh well. Nothing can be more entertaining than the TAP computer saga but this can get second place"
On a more serious note: of PSD make a collision with Chega it'll be awful because we'll have a xenophobic, sexist and other unpleasant party in our government (even if it'll be funny because Chega is known from being awful at holding itself together internally so I think it might go terribly). That being said our current party in the government (PS) is obviously fucked and honestly they've been there long enough for corruption to start happening to the point that they just look pathetic. It's a complicated situation because there's not a single (big) party that is in a state to form a strong government in my opinion. And I'm not particularly happy with any... except for maybe Livre but those guys have very few votes and aren't really there to form any government.
I'm gonna have a difficult time voting.

America really is race obsessed, huh?
#not american#us politics#not even necessarily a criticism#just a statement of fact#in what world would the black Portuguese population be brought up by the news as relevant to a certain political party#it would have been considered prejudiced and patronising

spanish and portuguese are different languages tho especially thinking of spoken brazilian dialects. I was so hated in classes for having an easier time with the subjunctive
#Brazil killed the subjunctive it's true but don't quote me on it#but actually my favourite one is that at least in São Paulo portuguese doesn't have different second persons to express politeness#so it expresses politeness with a whole lot of culture and indirect speech patterns. to a point I am considered rude for using imperatives#or just saying no without putting in circular speech and excuses#fascinating little case of language and culture glued together if you ask a brazilian out and hear 'let's schedule it someday' they hate yo#we don't feel it as much in the Andes but the Rioplatenses can't stand how politeness works in portuguese#my uruguayan uncle died complaining brazilians don't know the epic joy of saying 'no'#ask me and it's embarrassing to live in a country and not adapt to it. man was just mad he couldn't tell when people disliked him#ex guerrillero derrotado pelo 'vamo marcar'#eu pessoalmente AMO o 'vamo marcar'#.txt
