SS23 Orpheus Notebook: Personalization at its Best! [Simblreen 2023]
Greetings, fellow simmers!
Ever since the release of Discover University, I've been using "MyComputer UoG X19 Athena". While the Athena laptop has its charm with its assortment of stickers, they mainly revolved around universities and soccer—a hobby I don't personally share, neither do my sims. That's when inspiration struck, leading me to create something new and exciting: the SS23 Orpheus Notebook.
The SS23 Orpheus Notebook offers a world of customization with its three base colors (black, grey, and white) and a whopping 25 sets of unique stickers. In total, you'll have access to a stunning array of 78 swatches, allowing your sims to express their individuality through their customized computers. While crafting these swatches, I took great care to include a wide range of hobbies and interests, catering to every sim's preferences. Whether your sim is into music, cooking, plants, pets, science, or art, there's a sticker set that suits them. And for those who embrace the supernatural, fear not—I've ensured there are plenty of options for vampires, werewolves, ghosts, witches, and more.
Preview gif is under the cut!
But that's not all! The Orpheus Notebook comes with an ACTUAL SIMLISH KEYBOARD, adding an authentic touch to your sim's computing experience!
You can locate it under the Electronics / Computers category in build-buy OR simply head to the search box and use keywords like "sovereignsimmer," "laptop," or "notebook." It is very affordable; reliability is not the best but not the worst either. Despite its low-poly design, the textures are high-quality. When you adjust your graphic settings accordingly, you'll be able to appreciate all the intricate details.
UPDATE 2: Fixed tuning, it is now BGC & added live-drag functionality. Please redownload & enjoy!

PS: I've also made an override for Discover University notebook, upscaled its textures with AI. In case you want it, I'm dropping link here. Xx

There is something inherently pleasing to me abt all those "pack for my trip with me" videos despite knowing for a fact that everything they're doing will make for a wholly inconvenient traveling experience
#packing entire dressers to 'easily unload into the hotel closet' ok girl damn how long are u staying??? u moving in?#packing a PORTABLE TV????? those already exist??? They're called laptops/tablets???#i mean ofc i don't know the details of their stays or anything but these people always pack enough for 3 months at a minimum#it's crazy to me. baby why are u lugging all that weight! think of ur back!#tcp

YK IT'D BE SO COOL IF THEY RELEASED MAGIA EXEDRA ON CONSOLES. kinda like how the hoyoverse games are on playstation it'd be awesome if magia exedra was on playstation too!! (totally not bcz I'd love to play a pmmm game on the big screen.totally)
#WE NEED A PMMM GAME ON THE BIG SCREEN THO#I mean yeah hypothetically you can cast your computer running madoka portable or grief syndrome to your tv#and if you have a ps tv you can cast battle pentagram there#but casting things from laptop to tv can have..issues (mostly with delay in controls. at least for me)#and most ppl don't have a ps tv let's be real#LOOK I need something that's native to the big screen pleaaaase#and magia exedra would be perfect for that especially with the HD graphics#also it'd be great bcz I know for a fact my laptop would NOT be able to run magia exedra and my tablet is goin through storage things BAHSB#madoka magica#pmmm#magia exedra#kokarambles

*claps* I made the webtoon icon for We Grow As We Go (because Grow As We Go was already taken, but I stand by my babies!)
You guys get the full version, because I went through a hell of a lot of editing to get this within the limits of Webtoon's thumbnail spefications hrrrngh
I drew this in Aggie and colored in CSP.
#Still working ont he vertical thumbnail#had to take an hour break to REDUCE THE THUMBNAIL SIZE AND MEMORY GYAAAH#camellia#harvey#grow as we go#webtoon#once i finish the vertical thumbnail the webcomic is set in stone and i can start drawing it#getting off my butt to claim it before things went to hell is what will kick off the motivation#but also gotta work on wiwi#if i get a new portable laptop i can work on the webcomic even at work#but for now. ill continue reading webcomics to inspire me hehe

[ID: A photo of prepared wool fiber and wool yarn on a wooden tabletop. A multicolored spindle rests in an orange mug; orange and grey wool is in the process of being spun onto it, with a small amount wound onto the spindle's shaft as a fine single and the majority still wrapped loosely around the top as something like roving. Around the base of the mug lies a trail of more roving, wrapped into nests and threaded onto some yarn, all grey but with a gradient of colors mixed in. In order: lighter orange, pale peach, rose pink, purplish pink, light purple, and medium purple. On the table next to the garland is a small skein of sock yarn spun from the same gradient, somewhat overplied and tied with a length of bright mint green yarn. End ID]
One down, most of one to go! I executed my plot: carded up bonus thrift store lanolin wool, reclaimed the gradient fiber from my first support-spindle-spun skein and carded it into seven gradient steps, blended those two fibers together, and divided the whole progression into two equal sequences for socks or mitts or...something. I've heard of spinners working hard to avoid muddying up their fiber colors, meanwhile I'm over here splashing in the mud puddles! The above photo was taken in the overcast afternoon light from our kitchen windows, so it's even more grey, but as a reminder this is what the colorful half of this looked like in its previous form:
[ID: The same spindle in the same orange mug, this time on weathered wood in direct sunlight with a very chunky skein of safety-vest-orange yarn fading to pale orange and pink with white patches and finally a bright purple. End ID]
I'll be honest I did have some second thoughts about blending once I'd re-carded the yarn into a smoother gradient. But I know I don't use small amounts of yarn well, especially in bright colors, and the fiber did feel a bit frazzled by the time it had no strings remaining. It benefited a lot from combining with the too-much-lanolin of its grey friend. So on to join my trusty cone of dark grey wool in some more staid applications! I am really happy with the tweedy look of this first skein, not removing any neps that had spinnable fuzz still attached (and tbh probably leaving a few slubs that could've been teased out in drafting if I hadn't spun a section of this on the bus to and from IMTS in the pitch dark of pre-dawn and late night). Only concern now is that I did just pull out the cone and realize it's only about 22wpi and my first skein is closer to 30wpi. Maybe it'll fluff up in washing? But either way I think I'll be likely to sacrifice symmetry in favor of fewer frustrations with snapping yarn while chain plying and let my second single trend a little heavier than "as thin as possible." I think the lanolin has helped a bit with it sticking together longer but it's not magic.
#cj gladback#spinning#fiber art#ramblings#I still haven't tried actually spinning on the e-spinner that was packed with the grey wool#the spindle is just so portable! can be done on lap while watching tv or laptop equivalent#no wheel or e-spinner is gonna fit in my purse for sanity keeping on a semi-spontaneous trip to a trade show#(though if i worked for one of the manufacturers and could demonstrate their parts in service#in a briefcase wheel it would be my favorite event of the year)#and it's such a low-commitment thing to start and stop when waiting on anything#with this wool (and maybe I should feel the same about others) i do want to wash my hands after spinning#but that's possibly more the thrift store element than the unscoured fleece -- dog hair and occasional gritty debris#for more than just the confirmation of how much I've overplied and its final texture i'm looking forward to washing this

Honestly.... I definitely preferred playing world on my laptop but I think for wilds I... really may get a ps5... unless the Xbox series x is a better option? I think wilds is a game I'd like seeing on a TV screen, only reason I preferred laptop for world was because I liked having more buttons for everything
#uhh. any opinions welcome tbh#because truthfully i dont think getting a new gaming laptop would be worth it. mine works fine#yeah i like the portability but i just dont need it yknow#and honestly i got that laptop around icebornes release. which was five years ago#i really dont think i even need to check if it can handle wilds. if people are balking so much at wilds requirements i think i know
