Jess Watches // Fri 17 May // Day 233 & Sat 18 May // Day 234 Synopses & Favourite Scenes & Poll
Sugar (with mum) 1x08 Farewell (Finale)
A shocking realization points Sugar toward a discovery that changes everything.
This had so much potential but I still don't get why the story didn't focus a little more on characters that ended up being pivotal to the plot rather than the Seigels. The detective noir stylization wasn't always consistent which is a shame. But I would still be intrigued by a s2 if it tweaked the aforementioned things.
Frasier (with mum) 6x09 Roz, a Loan
Roz is in a difficult financial situation, struggling to pay for her rent and baby clothes. KACL's ratings are suffering as a result of the new format, but the management still will not change it.
Oh, excuse me. Not to interrupt, but six months ago, you borrowed $40 from me. We were at the wine shop, remember? You couldn't quite scrape together enough for a bottle of your precious Chateau Mr. Fussy-Pants.
So I lent you the money. And have I said a peep about it since? No. I just sit here, quietly reusing my tea bags, while you trundle off to your private clubs ordering gourmet this and imported that. "Are the cigars Cuban? Are the tulips Dutch? Oh, good news. My personal shopper just found a dozen antique pudding plates." Who has 12 people over for pudding?
So you gave poor Roz a bit of money. It hasn't changed your life, has it, you sherry-swilling, foie-gras-munching hypocrite?
Hacks 3x04 Join The Club
Deborah is invited to hang with some of her favorite comedians, Jimmy finally lands a general meeting with Winnie and Marcus recruits Ava for trivia.
Deborah defending bisexuals. Thereby defending Ava. Thereby defending herself? Deborah being mad that Ava makes her want to be a better person because she can sometimes so easily be cruel. The growth. 🌱
The Artful Dodger (with L) 1x07 Wet Lettuce
Fagin and Dodger attempt a risky heist in pursuit of gold. Belle reveals her secret to Jack.
Waiting for the end I guessed was coming didn't make it any less painful. Fagin was always going to get caught because he doesn't know when to quit. I just hope Jack can stay out of their way long enough to help Belle. My friend joked she'd be reading from a medical textbook as he performs open-heart surgery on her. "Your left not mine smh."

Beyoncé - Work It Out 2002
"Work It Out" is the debut solo single by American singer-songwriter Beyoncé. It was released on June 11, 2002, as the lead single from the soundtrack album to the film Austin Powers in Goldmember, in which Beyoncé stars as Foxxy Cleopatra. It was later included on international editions of Beyoncé's debut studio album, Dangerously in Love (2003). Beyoncé co-wrote the song with its producers, Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo. It is an R&B song which incorporates elements of 1960s and 1970s funk and post-disco.
The song was generally well received by music critics, many of whom complimented its retro style and various influences. It has been credited as the beginning of Beyoncé's career as a successful solo artist, after fulfilling a career as the lead vocalist of Destiny's Child. "Work It Out" was nominated in the category of Best Original or Adapted Song at the 2003 Black Reel Awards. It topped the US Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play chart, and reached the top ten in Norway and the UK. It went to number 12 in Ireland, number 14 in Denmark, number 36 in New Zealand, and number 23 for two consecutive weeks in Australia.
"Work It Out" received a total of 56,3% yes votes. Previous Beyoncé/Destiny's Child polls: #51 "Jumpin', Jumpin'", #198 "With Me", #234 "Hymn for the Weekend".

Critter Halloween Poll stats
@novalizinpeace ran some polls on their other account @smilingcritterarg to decide what costumes to do for their upcoming smiling critters Halloween YCH. Having nothing else to do (does in fact have things to do but is procrastinating) I decided to break down some of the data and results. Here are some completely unnecessary charts I made!
Charts are read as: Character name (total number of votes in their poll), The four poll options, the percentage of the vote they got, and what that number roughly is in terms of votes they received. I very roughly rounded a lot of numbers but it all basically works out.
Hilariously, Bubba took the longest because double checking his math somehow broke every calculator I used and gave him more total votes than he actually received. Still have no idea what went wrong there.
Here is a chart tracking the differences between first place and second place (how close the poll was) and first and last place:
Some fun facts from all this data:
The most voted in poll was Picky's with 311, and the least voted in poll was Kickin's with 204
Biggest winner percent wise is Rockstar Kickin, getting 50.5% of votes in their poll
Biggest winner in total number of votes is Picky with her head on a Plate with 138 votes
Biggest loss was Skeleton Hoppy in both % of the poll and individual votes at only 8.5% and about 19 votes. No shame because it was in a packed race with some very strong competition
Speaking of Hoppy and her poll, hers was the closest race by far, with the winner decided by just 8 votes (3.6%)!
The most conclusive victory was Rockstar Kickin, 28.9% and 59 votes ahead second place Slasher
The girls polls were more popular, averaging 250.5 votes to the boys average of 217.5
The girls polls were also closer and more contentious, first place being decided on average by just 9.15% compared to the boys average of ~14.5%
1,872 Votes were cast in these polls, averaging 234 a poll!
My personal votes won 6 times out of 8, or 75% of the time.
The two polls my voted option lost were Picky's, where my choice came in second (RIP Picky the Barbarian, you went out in a fight); and Bobby's, where my choice tied for last (Figured Cupid would win, but I voted for the novelty of Detective Bobby)
There isn't really a point to all this, I just wanted to look at the numbers. Excited for the Halloween YCHs! Check out @novalizinpeace for amazing Smiling Critters art and more!

Radio Silence Reread
Hi everyone! You may remember that a few weeks ago I posted a poll about hosting a Radio Silence fandom reread/book club. My idea was to reread the book in sections together, share our thought and get some inspiration for the February Friday events. I had such a positive response so here's an update!
The reread will start on January 15th and run until January 31st, one week before the first February Friday event. I have given us two days to read each section with the dates in the image above. (Dates without the image will be in the read below)
*All page numbers are based on the paperbook UK edition of Radio Silence*
We can share our thoughts using the Radio Silence Book Club tag.
If you have any ideas, suggestions or questions reply to this post or send an ask!
Thank you!

As a small note, as we wittle down contestants, there may be days with only one poll, or days without a poll. We're at the stage where I can't make polls too far in advance — for example, tomorrow's polls cannot be made until match 234 has ended in around 5 hours.
#seireitei bulletin#ive also been unwell the past week or so... almost didn't get today's polls up in time

So, it seems like you guys have some thoughts about this.
HOT TAKE MATCHUP!
PRELIMINARY #234
Submission 817
Abbreviated tone tags (/gen, /hj, /lh, etc.) are terrible.
Tone is hard to convey on the internet and you want people to understand your tone with more precision than emojis can give? Fine, then take two seconds to type out "genuine question" or "lighthearted" so people can actually understand it. If you insist on using a billion little codes that people have to look up or memorize, you're not making anything easier, you're setting up a whole new communication barrier. (genuine frustration! see, it ain't hard!)
Submission 818
Tone Tags aren’t that bad
It’s just like another part of internet lingo. They help explain tone in the quickest way possible. While admittedly some like /pos and /hj can be confusing because of the acronyms original meanings, in general tone tags are more useful than not
Propaganda is always encouraged!
And remember to reblog your favourite polls for exposure!

Best Poké Ball Tournament- Stats Breakdown!
Thanks to all of your votes and continued enthusiasm for the blog, we finally reached the end of this tournament, and I have some stats to share with you all!
Before we get into the stats, this is the last chance to suggest ideas for the next tournament before I run a poll to decide it! You have a couple of days from when this is posted.
Click the read more for the breakdown!
In this tournament, I did less reblogs for each match, and that has led to a lower vote total than last time- but still an impressive 11,922 votes were cast across all 32 matches for an average of 373 votes per match.
When we get into specific Ball stats, things start to get interesting though- let's rank by average vote total per match shall we?
Luxury Ball- 240 (1202 votes across 5 matches)
Love Ball- 234 (701 votes across 3 matches)
Quick Ball- 225 (675 votes across 3 matches)
Heal Ball- 224 (224 votes in 1 match)
Premier Ball- 223 (223 votes in 1 match)
Dusk Ball- 219 (438 across 2 matches)
Strange Ball- 215 (215 votes in 1 match)
Moon Ball- 214 (1072 votes across 5 matches)
Great Ball- 200 (400 votes across 2 matches)
Dream Ball- 199 (996 votes across 5 matches)
Beast Ball- 197 (984 votes across 5 matches)
Cherish Ball- 196 (392 votes across 2 matches)
Ultra Ball- 195 (195 votes in 1 match)
Dive Ball- 194 (584 votes across 3 matches)
Friend Ball- 192 (575 votes across 3 matches)
Timer Ball- 190 (380 votes across 2 matches)
Lure Ball- 164 (164 votes in 1 match)
Master Ball- 162 (162 votes in 1 match)
Safari Ball- 158 (158 votes in 1 match) & Jet Ball- 158 (316 votes across 2 matches)
Poké Ball- 153 (153 votes in 1 match) & GS Ball- 153 (153 votes in 1 match)
Net Ball- 151 (151 votes in 1 match)
Fast Ball- 148 (295 votes across 2 matches)
Origin Ball- 139 (277 votes across 2 matches)
Heavy Ball- 130 (130 votes in 1 match)
Nest Ball- 129 (129 votes in 1 match)
Repeat Ball- 125 (250 votes across 2 matches)
Sport Ball- 91 (91 votes in 1 match)
Park Ball- 84 (84 votes in 1 match)
Level Ball- 78 (78 votes in 1 match) & Gigaton Ball- 78 (78 votes in 1 match)
While the Luxury Ball sits on top, as you'd expect, none of our other final four are higher than 8th! This could perhaps be seen as some Balls that didn't do so well may have had more enthusiastic support even if they didn't get as far?
Even more interesting is when we get to the average % vote share across the matches:
Quick Ball- 65%
Love Ball- 61.7%
Dive Ball- 60.6%
Moon Ball- 57.6%
Great Ball- 56.5%
Luxury Ball- 56.3%
Dream Ball- 56.1%
Beast Ball- 54.3%
Cherish Ball- 52.8%
Timer Ball- 50.8%
Lure Ball- 48.8%
Friend Ball- 48.3%
Dusk Ball- 48.1%
Jet Ball- 47.9%
Premier Ball- 46.6%
Ultra Ball- 45.5%
Strange Ball- 45.4%
Heal Ball- 45.2%
Safari Ball- 45%
Net Ball- 43.8%
Nest Ball- 42.4%
Fast Ball- 42.3%
Origin Ball- 40.7%
Poké Ball- 40.5%
Master Ball- 40.4%
Repeat Ball- 40.1%
GS Ball- 39.3%
Heavy Ball- 35.9%
Sport Ball- 25.3%
Level Ball- 24.1%
Park Ball- 23.4%
Gigaton Ball- 22.3%
This is probably more of an indicator of how close each Ball's matches were and how much they may have swept... or not! But still, it's surprising that none of the top three in the competition made it to the top three of this list! I think it's fair to say that many of these Balls are very popular, and any tournament to determine the favourite would have been close.
If you like charts, here's what each Ball's total votes compared to the total tournament votes looks like:
(Apologies if it's hard to read, Excel would not play ball with me... ironically.)
To wrap up, let's look at some individual match stats.
The most voted on match was Round 1, Match 3- Luxury Ball vs Heal Ball. It had 496 votes, and showed that the Luxury Ball was popular even from the start! This is closely followed by the Final Match with 490 votes, Luxury Ball vs Moon Ball. That means for the third time in a row, the Finals is the second most popular match- what a coincidence!
The least voted on match was Round 1, Match 11- Nest Ball vs Repeat Ball, at only 304 votes. The second least popular was Round 2, Match 7- Jet Ball vs Dive Ball with 4 more votes at 308.
The closest match this time round was Round 1, Match 2- Lure Ball vs Origin Ball. It had a margin of only 2.4%, or 8 votes! Congratulations to the Origin Ball for that one!
Let's cap off with the biggest sweep, a title that in previous tournaments went to Water Type and Grusha. In this tournament, the biggest sweep goes to... Round 1, Match 1! The match of Quick Ball vs Gigaton Ball ended in a huge 55.4% win margin, or 193 votes. The show started with a bang it seems! Shout out to the Love Ball, Dive Ball, and Moon Ball for all also achieving sweeps with over 50% margins. All of those Balls gain entry to the exclusive 50% sweeper club, joining Water Type, Flying Type, and Ghost Type.
And that's all! If there's any stat I missed that you'd like to see, just drop an ask and I'll fill you in!
Until next tournament, please keep suggesting theme ideas, and keep your eyes peeled for that poll in the next few days. I'm now going to go look at something completely different for several hours- the word Ball looks weird now.

Because yay more polls :D
These are the songs I've chosen from each Showdown polls for this round of a hundred songs, that didn't get as much love as their tougher competition.
What song did you personally like the best? Did a song make an impact right away or did it require the full version? Did the artist reveal change your opinion of the song itself for better or for worse? Tell me in a reblog!
(note: this is not a popularity contest or to vote for a favourite artist out of loyalty 💖 it's still about the song.)

Congratulations Tom, the winner of Band Camp Boyfriend's "Best Boy" contest!! 234 Bandits showed up to vote! Here are the final standings... 1st Tom with 63 votes 2nd Poptart with 54 votes 3rd Clark with 41 votes 4th Garth with 30 votes 5th Doug with 19 votes 6th Samuel with 17 votes 7th Peter with 10 votes
The poll actually glitched one day and Poptart's name switched with Tom's. We were so confused because we were like HOW did he get so many votes in such a short time and why is he green, wasn't Tom green?? But then it fixed itself. Nice try rigging the system, Pop. We still love you! Thank you so much to Flora for drawing such an amazing and adorable picture to help us celebrate! <3
