Lumii promised herself that she’d never forget those words spoken before her beloved’s departure from Relic Castle. Perhaps even all of Unova for all she knew. She swore that she’d never forget the memories of him that shaped her journey from a completely ordinary rite of passage to something akin to a living legend. They were all she had to cling to in his absence, if not the speculations of where he was and the empty space beside her in the shape of his figure. When the world stilled and she was left in the company of herself and her team, she had to pretend that the tones of his voice didn’t fade from her memory after two years of unbearable radio silence.

Life kept going on and she refused to be left in the dust or to acknowledge the aching within her heart. With the defeat of Team Plasma and the disbandment of the Seven Sages, she returned to the Pokémon League and claimed the title of Unova Champion. As Alder congratulated her, inadvertently leaving the heavy weight of a new responsibility upon her shoulders, Lumii distantly wondered what her dearly beloved would think of her accomplishments. When she wasn’t challenged, she was journeying across the region. Finding sights and locations she had overlooked or wasn’t able to access beforehand, meeting new people, tying up loose ends with Looker who claimed to see him in a distant land.

Then the rumors started floating about, awed whispers of people claiming to see the blazing trail of the Vast White Pokémon before disappearing into the clouds. Was she pathetic for clinging onto her hope until her knuckles turned white? It sure felt like it, or perhaps that was desperation. Lumii had never run so fast and Zekrom had never flown faster. Her body moved before she gave the command, practically tossing herself and closing the distance. Dragons roared in the greeting to one another, but it was so faint when the sound of his heartbeat was so loud and so real against her ear. She fit so perfectly against him that she instantly knew this was real, and she was home.

His breath tickled her neck and brushed past the white strands while he held her gently, if not a bit awkwardly that it was downright adorable yet sad. She wasn’t sure how on the mark she was to believe that she believed this to be the first time he was held. Her hands trembled as she held him close, fingers curling into his shirt and the long, clover strands swaying with the breeze. He drew away to hold her face in his palms and delicately wipe her tears with chilled thumbs. He was just as Lumii remembered from head to toe, but there was something about his smile that made him look happier, somehow free.

While her heart fluttered, she whispered: “Welcome home, N.”

Alola AU Reese! She’s literally the character as Kanto!Reese: she’s a tiny gremlin, she’s full of anxiety, and she’s an artist. BUT! She’s dating Nanu and they live together at the police station with his 500 meowth. Oh and she also has a different team, with her Lycanroc, Avril, as her ace!

Dw LT Surge isn’t going anywhere, and neither is Kanto!Reese (she’s literally my main sona). I created Alola!Reese because it started getting confusing imagining Reese with Nanu when she’s already happily married to Lt. Surge.
