Generation IV

Set up a Wi-Fi hotspot with your phone. Go to Nintendo WFC Settings on your game of choice, then search for an access point. Once a connection is established, change the Primary DNS to 178.62.43.212 and Secondary DNS to 8.8.8.8

Generation V

Go to Connection Settings on your 3DS and change the Primary DNS to 178.62.43.212 and Secondary DNS to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8

Headcanon: Whitney claims to have only gotten into Pokémon battling because it was popular (a bit of a stretch for a Gym leader to say that), and deliberately gives the impression of not being very smart so as to catch people off-guard when she sends out her Miltank with its absurdly strong moveset and stats.

I just realized something.

In Pokémon, there are at least three instances where a location that connects two places is a portmanteau of the places it connects.

Tohjo Falls connects Kanto and Johto. The Sinjoh Ruins connect Sinnoh and Johto through the event that takes place there (where Arceus creates an egg that will hatch into Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina). Rusturf Tunnel connects Rustboro City to Verdanturf Town.

Apparently, according to Bulbapedia’s article on Tohjo Falls, this is a common naming convention in Japan.
