I’m sorry it’s not great, I didn’t know how to perfectly encapsulate silver’s amazing epicness. Also, I regret drawing side profiles. Those are so hard to draw.

Silver is a comfort character for me- if that wasn’t obvious 😅. For all the Wheatley’s and the other fixations of mine, Silver has definitely stuck with me the most. Call me cringe, call me whatever you want. But honestly? He’s got aspects that I can’t even do myself. For instance. Family life? Not great. Silver? Keeps going with it. This silly little character from a Pokémon Manga quite literally inspires me to be better..? I guess? Other factors as well, obviously My religion, my friends, and my family. But man. For fictional characters, Silver’s the comforting one. And hey! I believe by now I’m passing onto around 2 years as a silver fan 😁 I found him through the manga (I used to be a hater… that’s a story for later.) and ever since. Yeah. I’ve been the fan y’all have seen me as! (Oh boy… if you ever start talking to me…. MAN do I yap.)

Anyways! Silver fans, I apologize for the cringey vent! Have an amazing Silver Birthday, and if you celebrate (and I don’t get by to making a post about it), have an amazing Christmas!

For the sake of my sanity I only picked the stage their Digimon would be at when you battle them. You know giving them Digimon makes it infinitely easier for them to hold back against challenger since they can just have their Digimon revert to weaker form.

A look into how some Gen 2 glitches would behave in universe

Gen 2 glitches, while interesting, aren’t as crazy usually as their Gen 1 progenitors. So less eldritch horrors and more like common human errors.

Good ol Kurt means well with his pokeballs but he’s either lost his technique or something in his workshop is working improperly because some of those balls do some weird stuff. The fast ball only works on three Pokémon, the Love Ball is now oddly progressive for its time as some would put it, and the Moon Ball? Oh you mean the Burn Heal Ball.

Strain 0 Pokerus is some weird mutation that of course, acts strange.

The Pokedex Beast Cry and SS Aqua Map bugs are probably just technology being potato

Pokémon cloning is possibly the only disturbing one I can think of. Basically your Pokémon gets horribly spliced thanks to trade or PC shenanigans but doesn’t get fully corrupted, but split into two.

But as mentioned before, those in the time capsule won’t be so lucky. Bill had warned you after all because the aftermath isn’t pretty until the Pokemon returns back to Johto.

The Coin Case one would be interesting. At most I could see it being a trainer rigging some “impossible” contraption from these two things spliced together to mess with reality.

The crystal Clair TM glitch I could see her just taking pity or something on the trainer. Since I don’t think blacking/whiting out would be a thing in universe (unless you’re tired or something else to do with bodily harm), Clair just accompanies them to the Pokémon Center and just to be nice decides to give them another TM or something for their troubles (Kinda OOC a bit for her but that’s really all I could think of.)

So over a decade ago, I made this post about how I was able to obtain an original second gen pokégear. I alluded to it recently in this post, but I never really showed any detail shots, so I thought I'd finally share them.

So the box mentions having a few different features: calendar, watch, alarm, stopwatch, schedule, phone book, and radio. Keeping in mind that it is formated in Japanese, I never tried to enter in any numbers as Japanese phone numbers are 10 digits long. The calendar was also set to 2000 and a few years after (keeping in mind that this was acquired 13 years after it's intended use time).

The back of thr box has pictures of each setting display, all in Japanese.

The pokégear itself came with a velcro wrist strap and a neckstrap with a clasp.

The backof the pokégear has two plastic slots for you to slide the wrist strap into. Also, I put the battery stopper back in after initially testing it in case I ever learned enough Japanese to actually use it XD.

The only reason this thing can fit around my wrist is because I have tiny baby wrists, apparently. >:T

The neck strap is honestly pretty short and basically, when hanging around my neck, ends at my clavicle. Ideally, I'd like a longer one for cosplay purposes.

The instructions are all in Japanese and I have it in mind to play with it more once I learn enough Japanese to read it without a translator app. I've used it since I got it for Kris cosplay, but that's a post for a different time.

Anyways, if you ever see me draw Kris with a blue pokégear or wearing it on her wrist, you know why now.

The Johto gang’s Digimon

So I accidentally went down a rabbit hole and am now really bothered by the question: when was Celebi's design finalized?

In the SpaceWorld '99 demo (August 17, 1999) Celebi has an almost unrecognizable design:

We know from interviews that Hironobu Yoshida was hired to design several random Pokémon that still needed fixing, including Celebi. We have builds from September 29, September 30, and October 6, but I never see anyone talking about them, and I have neither the technology nor the computer knowledge to delve into them myself. I'd love to know if Celebi has its final design by those builds, or if it took even longer.

Celebi's final GSC design (made by November 1999) is a little different from the design we know now, though:

Original!Celebi has some very different shades of green going on, and its arms have a different shape. I understand how this old design became known on this website as "the onion fairy." But its sprites give it a much more vibrant green color. Sometime later, its design goes back to the muted tones, but uses much darker shades, so its face and arms no longer look white. The "bump" on its arms is also lessened a bit, making them look more human-ish.

I'm unsure when these changes were put into place, exactly. This Sugimori art made for Crystal in 2000 has the OG colors & arm shapes, so the changes weren't immediate. But by the fourth movie (released July 2001, definitely animated well before that), Celebi's palette has shifted to something almost exactly like its current design:

Its face/body tone is still a bit brighter than what we know now, but it's the right hue, and its arm shape has been adjusted quite a lot.

So, I just wonder: were these changes made by Sugimori himself after the release of Crystal? Or did the anime team make these choices, and the game designers just adapted? I don't know, I'm not a poké-historian. Celebi isn't unique in this regard; a lot of Pokémon have changed designs subtly over the years, sometimes because of the anime. I'm just curious in Celebi's case because it's such a sought-after Pokémon.
