Capcom Retro Fighters are Making a Comeback!
Well, the weather's getting cooler on my side of the town, I dunno about you all being that summer is close to being over. Which means school days are close for the kiddies.
But what's heating up on this here FGnC blog is that Capcom has yet announced another fighter collection for the Next-Gen masses, much as is expected with the Marvel vs Capcom hullabaloo that's gotten the entire Fighting Game community in a tizzy months ago....
Yes, it involves the cast of characters in the SNK universe, among others. The title? Capcom Fighting Collection 2!
Not only the collection houses both the Capcom vs SNK duology, BUT games I've never played before--Star Gladiator and Power Stone 1-2; Also within the collection is Capcom Fighting Evolution, one of the fighters that somehow lived during the FG Exodus in the 2000s (looking at you, Mortal Kombat Armageddon and SoulCalibur 3!). Plus there is another gem in the form of Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper--like how many of these enjoyable little fuckers have I been playing for the last, what, 25+ years of my childhood...from the vanilla arcade version up to the PSP/Vita port with all the characters?!! 馃槚
Sadly, they left out Rival Schools, but hey, I'm happy with Project Justice 馃挏
At least the collection is worth downloading on to mines--and everyone else's--consoles! That and Marvel vs Capcom Fighter Collection (thank God they did not add horrid, rushed, under hyped MVCI)
EXPECTED DATE... Probably around 2025, but the actual month and day are unknown. Time to save it somehow, some way.
Anyways, I hope to stream soon within the weeks 馃槝 Stay safe, dahhlins!
馃挏 Snowy. 馃挏

EVO 2024 RECAP.
Note: Some are what I've seen on YouTube the past weekend. I couldn't watch some due to work
Character confirms:
Heihachi Mishima, thought to be dead in Tekken 7, has been confirmed as DLC come autumn season; lore is yet to be determined. Now I wonder who will be the LAST character to make it to the first batch? My money's on Anna Williams...I wanna see how she looked in a different design. 鈽猴笍
Terry Bogard (Fatal Fury/King of Fighters) will be available to every FGC folk owning Street Fighter 6; fellow SNK fighter Mai Shiranui will join the fray probably later this year or towards the end of it (?). Now this may stoke the possibility of another Capcom vs SNK fighter, maybe in the foreseeable future.
On the Guilty Gear front: DIZZY IS BACK!!! 馃挏馃挏馃挏 But this time she is a queen!!!! Plus a Cyberpunk anime crossover character comes in the form of Lucy, I wanna see how she plays in the future...
Sadly, I missed Mortal Kombat 1's EVO showcase, but yeah, Takeda Takahashi has been played in the tournament. In this installment, as far as timelines go, he is Kenshi's cousin rather than his son; I might get it once I have my own PS5.
The return of a classic: SVC Chaos
SVC Chaos, one of the few fighters that was released during the early stages of the "Fighting Game Exodus" (somewhere between the early 2000s-2009), has gotten a Next-Gen upgrade; honestly, I prefer Capcom vs SNK 2, seeing that it has more characters in its roster. I played it back then, like 20 some odd years ago, and it was decent. For the Western Hemisphere, it was more or less an X-Box (2001) exclusive, sucks that it didn't have a PS2 release there though (Only in Japan and PAL regions).

EVO '24: What to expect...
As the 2024 Evo(lution) tournament draws near, I wanna see another EVO MOMENT happening regarding 3rd Strike, possible either between the two veterans that made it happen, or one of the '09ers (the ones who started in the FGC when Street Fighter 4 made it big, thus renewing interest in the fighting game genre) for all I know. Maybe have it done in the sixth installment with Chun-Li and Ken, which is very necessary.
Let's hope THIS happens so the entire community would be in yet another uproar like they did 20-some odd years ago, way before Facebook and Twitter (my ass will not call it "X" 'cause it's too fucking generic) took over and YouTube was just an infant at the time.
If they have a side tourney for 3rd Strike, maybe next year would be Capcom Vs SNK 2 or Guilty Gear Accent Core, perhaps the fanservice heavy Dead or Alive 5, if anyone plays it.
Also, on the Mortal Kombat front-- I've learned that Takeda (last seen on MKX) is playable in this tourney, so I'll see how well he plays; is he getting a new, updated moveset, or will it stay the same? Also, is this version of Takeda still with Jacqui Briggs as far as lore goes?
TOURNEYS TO LOOK OUT FOR:
Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8 and Mortal Kombat. May be looking into the 3rd Strike side tournament.
Possibly Guilty Gear Strive to see if Dizzy is being added to the roster (as DLC); she needs an English VA (voice actor)!
If time allows, I will be watching the EVO tournament on my Twitch or YouTube...if it's ever broadcast there. Good luck to all those participating, and I will put my two cents on the whole thing in a future blog.
