Haha, yes! I don’t ship Darkling/Alina, but he is 100x more intriguing. Mal improved a lot for me in book two, though. Will be curious to hear what you think!

I was kind of hoping for a big character revelation regarding Mal... I feel like Bardugo dropped hints but never really developed him further than "the nice guy".  Glad to hear that he's developed in book two! Aside from the romance, I really loved this book.
