This ask is in reference to your frontiers question. I didn’t even know that the emeralds had an origin like that. I mean I guess I assumed earth but now seeing that there’s physical evidence of it being real is real! And now that frontiers goofed that canon I can’t believe that it was overlooked. I knew that something felt off about frontiers’s explanation of the emeralds and now that you showed this bit of canon lore now it feels more confusing than ever

In case anyone is curious, this is the ASK that this wonderful person is referring to. And let me just say that I’m super happy that this didn’t turn into an argument. I’ve been afraid to talk about this for a few years now. I didn’t want y’all to think that I was being a jerk about it.

I’ve quoted Sonic Jam’s JP guide because I grew up playing the classic and adventure titles. Please understand that when I refer to myself as an “older fan,” I don’t mean it as a flex or a self-appointed authority figure. I mean it in the regards of enjoying the series for a long time. My understanding of Sonic lore might be a bit different than what some of the newer games and fans notice.

When I played Frontiers, the explanation didn’t click right in my head. That was lore that was already established years ago. The chaos emeralds coming from a different race of extra-terrestrial beings works for the films because it was established early on. For game canon lore? Ehhh… I think it needs to sit on the back burner for a bit longer.

The ask that hyperlinked is more of me asking a question. I’m a bit lost. If anyone’s got some ideas, I’d love to hear them!😁

Like this season was actually so special to me i am dying for more especially more polin since they cut that short for some benedict awakenings and setting up for his season but i am glad for the bits that we did get.

If you want another adaptation to avoid for doing Lucy dirty is the 2020 graphic novel adaptation of Dracula, and the 2013 tv show, in which she is in love with Mina and Mina is a homophobe and rejects her and Lucy takes revenge by sleeping with Jonathan. So Dracula (who is in love with Mina and also a proto-feminist) targets Lucy to punish her for it and says "If you are going to act like a monster, then I'll make you one." and bites her, turning her into a vampire.

…wait WHAT???? Why is that a thing????!!! I get steadily more confused and horrified the more I learn about these adaptations (much in the same way that our good friend Jonathan gets slowly horrified by Dracula while living in his castle…too soon? I’ll see myself out).

I’m sorry Anon, you’re getting another Certified Nova RantTM, but it has to be said. Why can’t these adaptations let Mina and Lucy be friends anymore? And I don’t mean in the “they can’t be shipped way” (I don’t personally ship them, but I certainly respect it), I just mean in general. Like, literally, I can’t seem to find one adaptation where they’re even on pleasant terms??? Mina, at best, tolerates Lucy (usually because they make Lucy such a shallow character) and at worst…whatever that was you just described (can someone give me some bleach for my eyes, please or maybe @ldcurtain can brainsweep me idk??).

Stoker literally wrote them to be best friends. What is the problem with leaving them as BEST 👏 FRIENDS 👏 (or more, for the shippers in the room, but y’all know what I mean). Women supporting women shouldn’t be such a crazy concept in this day and age but I guess it is.

Another thing: I looked up the 2013 show to get a bit more of an idea on what kind of dumpster fire we’re looking at here, and guess what, y’all? It’s yet another “Mina is Dracula’s reincarnated wife” story. So yes, it gets WORSE! I have no idea who came up with that or why it’s a thing, but it exists in so many of these for no reason!!! I absolutely hate it!!! Even the musical, as much as I like it, does this — or implies it IIRC — for no reason. As many of you have said before me, it a) takes away all of Mina’s personality and agency, b) makes a woman-centered story (because while Jonathan is the protagonist, Mina is right there next to him and does take center stage a lot, as she should 💞💫) all about a man and c) is just boring at this point. Not to mention all she does in these is go “but guys 🥺🥺🥺 I don’t want this guy who killed my bff and a bunch of innocent people (INCLUDING A LITERAL BABY) to die 😫 he’s just misunderstood 😣😖 I can fix him 🥰🥹 wjth the power of love 😍🫶” girl…go back to Pick-Me school!

Give me Train Fiend Mina, give me the Mina that makes Jonathan promise to kill her if she turns into a vampire, the one that LITERALLY BEATS DRACULA AT HIS OWN GAME WITH HIS HYPNOSIS??? The one that shows the men in her life that they’re ridiculous for leaving her out of their plans because she’s too “fragile” for it. But also the Mina who comforts Jonathan when he’s emotionally broken after his encounters with Dracula, the one who doesn’t push him for answers until he’s ready to give them, the one who’s excited to be a wife because she has a loving husband (because most adaptations make him “boring” and “too perfect” :/ — that’s a whole other rant). She’s so multifaceted!!!

I want that Mina and I’m beyond angry we don’t get to see her because the producers are too busy trying to make a different movie to see the value of the original character. It’s so upsetting!! All of these characters deserve better and I will never stop saying that.

Hope you’re doing well and having a lovely day my dear!! <3 an ask you got about single dad Rhett & single mom reader where their children kinda set them up got me thinking about single dad jake and single mom reader except it’s like an enemies to lovers sort of situation 👀 you meet when you’re both called down to your kids’ school to meet with the principal bc Jake’s son and your daughter have been fighting/not getting along in class (you can’t tell me Jake’s kid wouldn’t be an absolute menace and love to pick on all the girls and pull their pigtails so to speak 😂). So maybe you don’t like Jake at first bc he’s a bit blasé about the situation, saying it’s normal, just kids being kids and that they’ll work through it on their own. Ya know, just being his usual cocky, smug self, saying he was a little rascal as a kid himself. So the two of you start arguing in the principal’s office (and Jake finds it super hot when you start yelling at him bc he definitely loves it when women are a little mean to him, and you can’t help but think about what a waste it is that someone that attractive would be such a dick) and the principal has to tell you both to cut it out 😂 You never hear about any further incidents between your kids again because unbeknownst to you, when they left the school that day, Jake told his son he should apologize and try to be friends. But every time you see him after that when you’re both picking your kids up from school, you’re rolling your eyes and glaring at Jake as he just waves, giving you that signature smug smirk. So your kids, now friends, conspire to get you and Jake together, each asking to be taken to the park on the same day and “running into each other” there. You’re left to sit on a bench with Jake while your kids play, staring straight ahead watching them in an effort to ignore his presence. Eventually when he can’t take any more of the tension he tries to talk to you, probably saying something like, “what, you’re not gonna yell at me today?” Joking around and trying to lighten the mood, telling you you’re really cute when you’re angry which leaves you blushing and trying not to smile. And that’s when you learn Jake is actually really funny and charming. you would offer to take care of his kid on days when jake was busy with work, seeing as he was such good friends with your little one anyway. a couple of play dates ended up with you staying in jake’s house so your little ones could sleep over together while jake was away for work. that then turned into you leaving jake dinner some nights, which then turned into you and jake finally sharing a kiss on his couch when he came home from work absolutely exhausted and so grateful you were there to look after his son.
