This is an independent blue common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) line from my first blues.
Like the other line, the blue trait shows some temperature sensitivity, leading to a more grey/brown color sometimes.
I have an experimental cross to set up next year that I'm hoping might help me get to a more consistent blue shade in this species.

who remembers fizz kale? we sure do. this was one of the first varieties we offered in the seed catalog and it’s been out of circulation for many years, and in need of improvement. this is a british variety primarily used as a baby green / micro green stir fry kale, and it has clearly been neglected on a plant breeding front. a great number of the plants are prone to early bolting/flowering, which kinda makes sense as it’s primarily harvested well before the leaves are large. @plantmarks and i spent some time at Rancho del Pueblo/Farmer and the Cook where we are producing this crop for seed for the first time in over 10 years! The primary goal of this seed production is culling out those early flowering plants so they don’t reproduce in the final genetic pool. We also did some mid season fertilization to facilitate the remaining crop having the best chance of going to seed. 🤞 this one will be back in the catalog come Fall/early Winter next year. #plantbreeding #openpollinated #kale #fizzkale https://www.instagram.com/p/CovhIjdvoUD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

This one has just a hint of spice. It also has some savory flavor notes that remind me of onions for some reason. (AAA battery for scale.)
The size, color, and flavor make me think it might do nicely pickled (maybe with olives or pearl onions).
The combination of black color (due to anthocyanins and chlorophyll) when immature, shifting to a rich brown (due to carotenoids and chlorophyll) when ripe is a really cool color scheme that turned up in several of my pepper plants this year.
I'm not sure I've seen it elsewhere.

Researchers Identify Genetic Markers for Tikka Disease Resistance in Groundnut
Researchers Identify Genetic Markers for Tikka Disease Resistance in Groundnut. #Tikkadisease #groundnutcrops #ICRISAT #geneticmarkers #AhPDR1gene #diseaseresistance #fieldexperiments #MolecularBreeding #plantbreeders #agriculturalcommunity
Tikka disease of Groundnut is a fungal infection that damages groundnut crops, leading to significant yield losses and potentially dangerous threats to food security in several countries. While some varieties have shown resistance to the disease, its genetic basis has remained largely unknown. Now, researchers at International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) have…

New Ways of Reducing Nicotine
Sponsored Post:
One of the primary elements improving the trend of tobacco consumption is the introduction of new goods, such as flavored tobacco products, menthol cigars, and clove cigarettes. The objective is to gradually reduce the nicotine content of cigarettes, resulting in lower nicotine intake and a lower level of nicotine dependency until a dosage is achieved at which the cigarettes no longer cause reinforcing and other addictive effects. Do you want to learn more about this fascinating aspect of the new smoking alternative? Continue on your quest for a better life!
Tumblr media
As of 2018, the worldwide tobacco market was said to have valued at approximately $817 billion dollars, with cigarettes accounting for nearly $714 billion dollars or roughly 90% of the total. According to reports in the media, the government is seriously considering proceeding with the Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM). Tobacco companies could likely lower the number of toxins in all combustible smokes in the United States to be "minimally or non-addictive" under this law.
Furthermore, these other groups' primary mission is clear: to potentially reduce the harm caused by smoking. Pending FDA approval for an MRTP, it was said that these other sectors' plans to commercially release a product worldwide could revolutionize the tobacco industry. This product could be a proprietary, reduced toxin smoke containing approximately 95% fewer toxins than conventional smokes. Check the disclaimer on the profile and landing page.
