LIVE: Emma Rawicz & Friends
Londyn, Pizza Express Jazz Club (Soho), 26-27.7.2024 Miałem ostatnio ochotę na pizzę, a gdzie serwują najlepszą? Wiadomo, w … Londynie.

UK Trip October 2023 (Part 11)
We return to London!
Tumblr media
As we continued to London, and passed by Abergavenny, it started to rain. Mum's friend happened to remember a song 'Abergavenny' by Marty Wilde at this point, and played it on her phone. We made some snide comments when he sang 'sunshine forever, lovely weather'.
Once we got to London, we travelled by bus to nearby Tower Bridge (ate at Pizza Express, another yum!) and went for a stroll down there. We also saw someone searching for something with a torch by the river???
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also saw what looked like a rave party with modern music playing at the Globe Theatre (I can only imagine Shakespeare's characters in costume having a modern kind of party haha)
I held my phone like a vise when taking photos where they could fall a long height or into the water.
Tumblr media
Headed back home for the night (a tourist asked us what bus to take while getting a little too close for comfort (especially considering I wasn't wearing a mask at the moment))
Time change that night, so I got an extra hour of sleep. Also mum's friend made us a bowl of fruit salad every morning (thankfully not mixed together which I'm not keen on) and the fruit was so juicy and good, I tried to savour them as much as possible during my final days there 😭
The next day, we took a brief detour to see Blenda, who turned 101! (mum's friend made Welsh cakes for her because she's also Welsh) She's a cute little lady, but also has a sharp wit about her! She also was visited by a couple of her friends, also cute old ladies, one of which was from Hong Kong and brought some store bought pie cookies (chocolate banana, and honey, we tried the former which I liked, but mum and her friend didn't really care for it) Blenda wouldn't hold back from telling her first friend to (lightheartedly) go away when she was taking her time with leaving (she was packing for a trip to Japan the next day) or telling her second friend that she doesn't want any more food gifts because she has so much. She also talked about how she wouldn't be afraid to mow down the street in her wheelchair if she had her way, but she still would have to watch out for distracted youngsters on their devices. Blenda was a hoot!
After then, mum's friend had to go to a meeting with her fellow tour guides, which she claimed would be pretty long and boring, so she let us to spend some time outside. So we walked along Soho, walking up and down Drury Lane, King's Way, Aldwych, and briefly encountered the British Museum. We mostly looked at the menus of the restaurants we passed by, which looked pretty good, but alas couldn't stop at because we already ate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also found this giant upside down globe. Honestly, if we stopped here first, I think it would have taken me the full 1.5-2 hours to wait for mum's friend's meeting to finish!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When mum's friend was just about done, we went back to the building she was at and we wandered into Covent Garden, saw a witty street performer who got everyone to encourage him to swallow a long balloon (which I thought looked like a hattifattener) Also walked past a young singer nathanreeve05, heard someone sing opera on the stairs below (even though he dressed very casually) and by chance encountered and went to a Moomin shop and bought some Snufkin socks (I would have liked to have a mug, but 1: it was expensive, 2: we weren't certain how well it would have travelled)
Had tuna pasta at home for dinner, which brought me back to my early college years, which I made for my lunches
Halloween! Side note: In the UK, you let trick or treaters know you'll have sweets for them if you leave a pumpkin by your window. Meanwhile in the US, you just leave your front light on.
Tumblr media
Went for our morning walk, and I saw a yellow bell pepper with a face carved in it as a makeshift pumpkin xD

'If you write a story, this is where it takes place'
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Went to the British Museum (saw some street performers doing a rendition of Ghost Town by The Specials while heading over there)

With most of history being serious, it's nice to see proof that children have always been playing games.

Hi, thank you for your hard work, this blog is amazing and my n.1 source when it comes to good fics!
I was wondering if you could recommend me some longish fics (around 10k-15k words, could be less, could be a bit more, I don't mind), sort of slow burn, with some pining, maybe a bit of oblivious Aziraphale, fluffy stuff. No explicit ones, please!
I've recently read Any Other Name by ignaz, all i need darling is a life in your shape by deadgreeks, and Something to do with these sacred words by Solshine, which were amazing and I highly recommend them, and I was looking for similar stuff.
Sorry if it's a bit of a hard request, I hope you can help me! Thank you <3
Hello! Here are some fluffy pining slow-ish burn non-explicit fics between 10-15k words...
No Picture Can Express by nutmeag83 (T)
Ezra Fell prefers books (and discretely watching the lovely florist down the street) to social media, but takes up the hobby at Madame Tracy's urging. Anthony Crowley has been pining after his neighbor for ages, happy to keep his distance until Ezra asks him to tutor him in using Instagram. They find they have more in common than just having shops on the same block in Soho.
Plant-Based Customs by junkshopdisco (T)
A Christmas Fiction. In Prose. Being a Story of Christmas & Why An Angel Should Learn More About Mistletoe Than Whether Or Not To Put It On Pizza.
Or: five times Crowley tried to get Aziraphale to kiss him under the mistletoe and one time he didn’t bother.
where the lights burn low and you're only mine by hopelessromantic549 (T)
For the most part, Aziraphale sees himself as a rational angel who follows a consistent moral code. That has been his identity for millennia, and it comforts him, gives him stability in an ever-changing universe.
What he feels for Crowley is decidedly not rational, and that's more terrifying than the Great Plan failing him.
(Or, Aziraphale and Crowley move into a cottage together after the world doesn't end, and Aziraphale tries to be brave.)
To Fools and Stars by NebulaEyes (T)
After a visit from Adam ends with an upgraded computer and a blogging profile, Aziraphale is soon talking with someone who seems to be in the same predicament his own heart is in. What will happen when he realizes just how much this person relates to his situation? What will be said? Will it all work out?
The Constancy of Stars by AppleSeeds (T)
Struggling with the fast pace of change in his life and seeking to connect with something more stable and constant, Aziraphale attends an event run by the Tadfield Astronomical Society to learn more about the stars. After meeting captivating astronomer Crowley, Aziraphale realises that the constancy he's been seeking in his life is more about wanting to have someone, rather than something, that he can rely on to always be there, but would it be too much to hope that Crowley might share his feelings?
the fact of his pulse by lexophile (NR)
The revelation of the angel’s face hovering over him—and his firelit, affectionate expression—is more than he can cope with right now. Crowley shuts his eyes again, although he does make an effort to relax his shoulders and curl his knees in towards his chest. He’s aware that lying in the fetal position with his head on an angel’s lap is just about the least demonic thing he’s ever done.
-
Or: five times Crowley successfully conceals his crush on Aziraphale and one time he fails.
And the three you mentioned...
Any Other Name by ignaz (T)
“It’s just,” he continued, “I’ve noticed that humans—some humans, anyway—they use that word, angel, as a…well, as a sort of…endearment.”
“Do they?” said Crowley, who had invented using the word as an endearment in the 13th century AD.
Something to do with these sacred words by Solshine (T)
Crowley confesses early, and Crowley confesses often. Aziraphale never knows quite what to say.
all i need, darling, is a life in your shape by deadgreeks (G)
After everything, Aziraphale and Crowley, by unspoken agreement, begin sharing their lives. --- Why? Aziraphale wanted to ask him, why millennia of the way things were, and now this?
But while Crowley seemed to have little issue upending every unspoken rule they’d ever written for themselves, Aziraphale was not so flexible, and they had spent thousands of years never quite addressing whatever it was this had stemmed from. Words, Aziraphale had always felt, were for bickering about where to eat for lunch, or hashing out ontological debates, or other trivial nonsense; there was no need to trifle with the imprecision of language, with phrasing and the possibility of being misconstrued, when it came to important matters if the other person simply understood, without needing it said. Six thousand years ago, when Aziraphale had met Crowley on the wall of Eden, watching the first two humans set out to begin the rest of history, something deep within him, more central even than his Grace, had thought, oh, it’s you, and that had been enough for him--for both of them, he assumed--for three millennia.
However much he wanted to ask, he didn’t know how. The words simply weren’t there.

My Top Ten Favorite Films of 2021
Before we start the countdown, I just want to take a moment to say how grateful I am that we were finally able to return to movie theaters this year. I really can't express how much that means to me. Covid is still really bad (especially right now) but for a while there we were able to once again see movies the way they're meant to be seen. On the big screen with an audience.
As with any year, there were a few key films I missed (Red Rocket, Drive My Car). Maybe I'll revise the list around Oscar season, but for now, these are my top ten films of 2021.
1. Licorice Pizza
2. West Side Story
3. C’mon C’mon
4. Spencer
5. Belfast
6. The Power of the Dog
7. The Last Duel
8. The Tragedy of Macbeth
9. Saint Maud
10. The French Dispatch
Honorable Mentions
Dune, The Green Knight, Last Night in Soho, No Time to Die, Luca, The Mitchells vs the Machines, Tick, tick… BOOM!

Jewelry, rare books, all the opulent gifts he gave her, shoved into a box, sealed with Spellotape, and dispatched to Malfoy Manor. She returns everything but his old coat, then books a one-way Portkey to New York City.
It’s October, and it’s bleak and nobody in Manhattan spares her a smile. She hides her clenched fists in the oversized sleeves of her coat, shrugging off the phantom weight of his arms when he used to hold her in it.
Narcissa warned them everything would change when Lucius returned. But Draco left prison first, and for three years the two of them lived blissfully.
She sees him in the pale blond buzz-cuts of SoHo’s stylists. Who’s running her fingers through his hair tonight? He’s the all-black uniforms of Meatpacking’s hipsters and the tattooed baristas of Greenpoint and the tailored business men of Upper East, slicing through traffic with their ears suction-cupped to mobile phones. At the MoMA she is ferried back to Whitechapel Gallery, holding Draco’s hand as he scrunches his nose at the ‘Muggles’ peculiar talents’.
Weeks pass and seasons shift. London would be worse, she thinks. The sun sets earlier there and everybody recognizes her and––the obvious.
Hermione migrates from one shoebox apartment to the next, subletting whatever’s cheapest. She craves him when her breath frosts the air in her new studio and the heater jams up. She remembers her creaky, old Diagon flat and the way he always kept her warm in soft rumpled sheets.
She visits old bookstores, starts a jazz record collection, and takes up journaling in cat cafes. Her pockets fill with ticket stubs from comedy and drag shows and indie film festivals, celebrating the queer expression.
She feasts on oversized slices of pizza and fat doughy bagels slabbed with thick cream cheese. She thinks of his sweet tooth buying vegan brownies and wishes he could taste the peculiar smoky flavour of a campfire latte. In the back of a yellow taxi, braking so hard it makes her nauseous, she wishes she was on the back of his broom instead. Oh, how he’d laugh at that.
One November afternoon, Hermione dons her favourite coat and sets off to a local pottery class. The city is blurry in the rain, lights warbling; a swish of sound added to every beat of movement.
“Hermione!”
She doesn’t stop when she hears her name. It’s not the first time his voice deceives her. He lives in her head, disguised in the hum of traffic and drawling street conversations and music bleeding through automatic shop doors. It’s an awful trick, and she swallows the lump in her throat as she keeps walking.
“Hermione.”
She looks over her shoulder and the head-spinning pace of the city comes to a standstill.
His shirt clings to his chest, soft blond hair tousled around his temples, and all she can think to ask him is, “Where the hell is your coat?”
Draco looks into her eyes like he’ll lose her if he blinks. “Don’t you ever leave me again.” And then he’s striding forward, grabbing her face between his palms.
His mouth is cold and his hips are sharp and someone blares a horn behind them, but Draco holds her so fiercely it almost feels real.
She shoves him back, looking up into his cool grey eyes. They’re not grey like the clouds or the skyline or the sea, but something entirely different. She’d forgotten what it felt like being trapped in his gaze.
“I’ve been to France and Italy and Australia, searching for you. I was losing my damn mind.”
“How did you find me?”
He tugs on her coat. His coat. “I unboxed the package you sent me, and realised you never returned this rotten thing. You took it with you.”
“I love it.” She shoves her hands into the deep pockets.
“It’s yours,” he says, and she knows he’s not just talking about the coat.
“Your father––
“To hell with Father.” Draco shows his teeth. “To hell with home. To hell with everyone. I just want you.”
She’s shaky all over, her heart just catching up with the turn of events, and all she can think about over the sound of her erratic heartbeat is taking him home to her frigid studio so they can unthaw together.
He’s here. Draco is in New York.
“I have so much to show you.”
“Show me,” he says, drawing her into his arms again. “Show me everything.”

Have you ever walked in on a conversation and, despite clearly missing the majority of it, feel like you could reconstruct it, word for word if necessary? That happened at Fell’s today. The ‘talk’ had obviously been going on for a while, but I can give you a perfect summary here: rude fuckboy thinks he gets to say who God is, Fell was having none of it.
Best response? Turn around, walk back to your apartment (pro-tip: this only works if you’re just a few blocks away), and change your shirt. I walked back in with my I MET GOD, SHE’S BLACK tee and had the pleasure of seeing Fell do a double-take.
“Yes, thank you, that’s what I’ve been trying to say!”

Scout’s honor: I once saw that Crowley dude unhinge his jaw and eat a large pizza in one goddamn bite.
Update: you heathens read about this gay abomination with his dislocated jaw and what you decide to question is whether I was acTUALLY A SCOUT?

I came in with my four-year-old last week fully intending to keep him within sight at all times. Yes, I bought one of those kiddie leashes and no, I don’t regret a thing. You try holding down two jobs as a single mom to the bonefide antichrist. I love my boy, but the devil got to him, telling him things like, “Yes, Freddie, permanent marker would look just great on Mum’s only work jacket!”
I said as much to the owner because this mom needs to vent sometimes.
I wish I could give this place a higher rating, but the ownership is frankly terrible. Inconsistent hours, no help when you’re trying to find a book, just basically all around bad customer service, BUT it still gets five stars because when I told the guy I was raising the antichrist?
“Oh yes. I did that myself not too long ago!”
We parents need to support one another. Otherwise the world is going to burn. So here’s a good review for you, Mr. Bookshop Guy. A part of me hopes you’re a better dad than you are a bookseller. The other part? The bigger part? It’s very aware that Ms. Pot here just met Mr. Kettle.
Now if you’ll excuse me, Freddie just got into the flour.

I hereby nominate Mr. Fell as the British Steve Irwin. I’ve never seen anyone handle a red bellied black snake like that. I mean yeah, they’re a chill species overall, but there’s a difference between casually handling a snake and fucking chucking one onto the chair because it’s in your way. (Okay. Maybe Irwin was a little nicer.)

overheard the owner telling his boyfriend that last they met his brother tried to set him on fire? and succeeded?? actually now that I think about it, not sure which brother they were talking about---his brother or boyfriend’s brother--but WHOEVER has the brother needs to... i don’t even know. do something about that? ring the police or go to therapy or SOMETHING. i mean maybe they already have, i’m just an eavesdropping tourist, but the idea of someone setting that bow-tie cutie on fire—DID I MENTION THAT? PERSON ARSON. MURDER—makes my blood boil

People aren’t joking about overhearing weird conversations here. I walked in on two men (owner and husband? owner and escort?) debating Seven Minutes in Heaven. You know, that stupid kissing game the better looking kids got to play in middle school. It got pretty heated at one point (pun not intended), arguing about whether seven minutes of making out was divine or damning behavior. I hung out long enough to catch the segue into a lust vs. love debate and then had to skedaddle. Nice couple. I support their weird flirting habits.

Is it legal to visit a store for things other then what it sells? I realize that makes me sound druggie or something but I swear I’m dealing with a much healthier addiction. (Ha. Maybe.) I cosplay (yeah, yeah, move along, trolls) and Mr. Fell has an absolute wealth of historical clothing. It’s astounding! I thought they were particularly detailed costumes at first, but no. I’m majoring in Textile and Apparel Studies. I know a naturally worn piece of fabric when I see it. Mr. Fell is always cracking jokes about how he wore this frock in the 19th century, this shirt in the 17th, oh don’t you just love my old vest? (He has... so many vests...) I indulge him because anyone who lets me borrow this stuff for free deserves all my attention and fake laughter.
Yeah. You read right. Artifacts borrowed for free. He’s even let me alter some of the stuff because I’m not exactly his size. Should this stuff be in a museum somewhere? Probably. Am I calling anyone to take my personal cosplay supply away? Noooope.

Helping to spread the word here because I’m not sure how much foot traffic this place actually gets.
I pass Fell’s every morning on my way to work and yesterday there was a new sign in the window. This might not seem very interesting to most people on here, but you’ve got to understand that Fell’s never changes. None of it. I’ve lived in Soho since I was a boy and this place has always had the same placard with his insane times listed, same stripped paint on the door he’s never gotten around to fixing, same spiderweb in the corner I absolutely swear. My dad used to pop in there when he was in college and I swear he’s taken me through the stacks, points out books that haven’t moved in 30+ years. It’s nuts and more than a little bit impressive.
So you can imagine my shock when I passed by and saw not one, but four new papers in the front window. They’re drawings and I recommend going and taking a look for yourself. I don’t think I can accurately describe the utter chaos of crayons and glitter that’s displayed there, let alone what it’s trying to depict. A dystopia? The end of the world? If so the apocalypse features a surprising number of dogs.
There’s a fifth paper off to the side, written in Fell’s messy penmanship. It just says, “My god-children drew these!” and if that’s not the cutest things you’ve ever heard get out of my face.

Dear Gabriel A,
My partner Crowley told me about this site and the many lovely well-wishes you all have left us here. I have come to express my thanks and to offer a bit of advice. You are hardly the first person to struggle with my name, dear girl! I recommend the following three step process:
A - simple, yes? + zira - a nickname I’ve adopted over the years, easy enough to recall + phale - this is admittedly more difficult as our ending, “phale,” is neither spelled in a way nor presumed to be pronounced like the “fell” sound we end up with. In truth my name is more along the lines of Azz-ear-raf-AE-el, but change is inevitable and you needn’t hear about that transformation, nor the etymology involved in getting “fell” out of “phale.” I say this not because I don’t wish to teach you, but because my partner has reminded me--in a rather rude tone I should add--that this site has a word limit. Suffice to say you should simply memorize the “phale” portion and you shall be, as the expression goes, in tip top shape!
Best regards,
Aziraphale
P.S. Nothing personal, dear boy, but I fear I’m not terribly fond of your name either. I would highly recommend changing it if you’re ever of a mind to do so. Cheerio!

One of your favorite things about Halloween was putting together the costumes. Long before the kids, Halloween had been your favorite holiday. It was the perfect excuse to dress up and turning your home into a small haunted house was also a big bonus. Sebastian had quickly taken to that last part and over the years, he had started taking over the decoration of the home if he was home and had the time to do it. This year he had managed to get a break from filming and he and the kids had done a number on the apartment.
Isabella loved Halloween as much as you and she was deeply involved with both finding costumes (and deciding what everyone should go as) as well as shopping with her daddy and turning the house into a horror show that would scare most kids. Not yours though. They both loved it and baby Rosie whom you were babysitting this year was with her 14 months way too little to care much either way. She just loved spending time with her honorary aunt and uncle as well as your kids.
Sebastian and you had gotten the divide and conquer thing down over the years and adding the little girl had proved no problem at all and you were only happy to help Rach and Chris out. Halloween was less important to the two of them. It tended to freak Chris out a bit and Rachel wasn’t interested in anything these days puking her guts out, pregnant with their second child. So when Alexander and Isabella had begged for Rosie to spend Halloween with the four of you this year, you suspected they had been a little relieved.
Chris had dropped off Rosie yesterday. He had been more than a little excited to spend a few days alone with his wife even if he also had a hard time getting out the door and leaving his baby girl behind. Sebastian and you had promised to drive down to Boston with the kids the day after Halloween to spend a little time together before Sebastian had to fly back to Atlanta for the filming of Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Everything was neatly planned, including Halloween day and who was in charge of what. You had stayed home with the two little ones, cocking scary pizzas for dinner, while Sebastian and Isabella had decorated the house and gone on a last-minute candy run. When they returned home Sebastian had tossed the two toddlers into the bath while you and Isabella had gotten the costumes out and made sure everything was ready.
After eating Sebastian had helped Isabella get a shower, while you had gotten the kids dressed and ready. Little Rosie in an Alice costume and Alexander had turned into the cutest white rabbit there ever was.
When they were in their costumes, you had put on a cartoon for them to watch so Sebastian could get dressed the Mad Hatter costume he had stolen from the set of Once Upon a Time years ago, much to your excitement. You loved him in that and when Isabella had suggested you’d all go as Alice in Wonderland characters, you had been thrilled. Sebastian didn’t care and he just loved making his family happy, the look in your eyes when you saw him in it just as you had put the finishing touches on your little Queen of Hearts Isabella, was certainly an added bonus.
You walked up to him, giving him a kiss that made his head spin and it took all he had in him to not chase you down the hall when you left to get yourself ready. Sadly there were kids to watch so paying you back for that kiss would have to wait until the little ones were sound asleep tonight.
Waiting proved to be a lot harder than he had first expected when he saw you dressed at the Cheshire Cat a few minutes later. He managed to sneak in a kiss and run his hands over you, before Isabella and Alexander had been bouncing around the two of you, wanting to get out the door.
As you walked down the Soho street Sebastian was once again reminded how lucky he was. His kids were happy and cheering while trying their best to involve their little cousin in everything. Rosie was sitting in a stroller pushed by Sebastian, while his kids dragged you from house to house. They returned to him and Rosie after each one to show him and Rosie what they had gotten from each place. After about an hour Rosie was dead asleep and you were leaning against Sebastian’s side as you watched your two kids interact with some of their friends a few feet away. He gave your hip a squeeze and you looked up at him with a bright smile.
“You’re gorgeous,” Sebastian spoke soft enough for only you to hear and your smile widened.
“Well, you’re pretty handsome there yourself Seba,” you laughed before kissing him tenderly.
“You look happy,” you beamed when you pulled back a little and Sebastian smiled, kissing you softly again.
“I am. I’m with you aren’t I,” he winked, making you giggle and hid your face against his shoulder just as your kids came rushing back to you, ready to return home with their loot.
Reblogs spread my work and make me happy. Got a favorite part/line? Did something touch you? Do you relate in some way? Please tell me and make my day.
