Nucleus were a British jazz-fusion band, which continued in different forms from 1969 to 1989.In 1970, the band won first prize at the Montreux Jazz Festival, released the album Elastic Rock, and performed both at the Newport Jazz Festival and the Village Gate jazz club.
The band was established by Ian Carr, who had been in the RendellâCarr Quintet during the middle and late 1960s. Their debut album, Elastic Rock, and the next two collections, We'll Talk About It Later (1970) and Solar Plexus (1971), were all released on Vertigo Records, and music journalist Colin Larkin noted were "vital in any comprehensive rock or jazz collection".
In August 2005, a reincarnation of Nucleus with old and new members performed at Cargo in London. This was followed on 30 March 2007 by a Nucleus Revisited concert at London's Pizza Express Jazz Club as part of a series of concerts to mark the tenth anniversary of Jazzwise magazine. Nucleus Revisited included Geoff Castle, Mark Wood, and Tim Whitehead and on trumpet, as at the 2005 Cargo concert, Chris Batchelor. Although Ian Carr did not play due to ill health, he was present at the concert and received a standing ovation. On 4 August 2009, #NucleusRevisited appeared at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London with Michael Garrick's Quartet as part of their two-week-long Brit Jazz Fest.

Go To Town
Word Count: 4.2k
soft jj x best friend readerÂ
A/N: I have no idea why but 'Go To Townâ by Doja Cat reminds me of JJ (listen it if you want to), so I came up with this lil scenrio based off the song but not really? but who doesnât love a good dance sesh to tease a cute boy. Just some cute JJ love tbh, everyone has the angsty, hard ass jj heres a lil content smol jj. This is my first jj fic so pls be kind. truly a white mans whore so iâll include my masterlist for my other writings Xx
*not my gif credit to owner*
y/n p.o.v.
âIf you're down, boy, really down, baby let me watch you go to townâ You and Kie screamed at the top of your lungs dancing on the Pogue. It was your turn to pick the music playlist for the day out on the marsh and you had more of an open love for all music. When it was your turn to pick the playlist it was a bit of everything everyone loved but today you just wanted to let loose and have fun. You vibed heavy with the reggae and soft jazz the boys usually picked or the pop-rock JJ chose, but you wanted to have more fun before the kegger tonight. Your vibe was usually infectious and you wanted the others to be able to let loose. Hence listening to some Doja Cat in the middle of nowhere with also the slight hope of catching JJâs attention more so than usual.
Your cousin came down from the mainland and showed you some new artists and âGo to Townâ by Doja Cat was on her playlist which reminded you of your little blonde hair blue eyed crush. JJ Maybank possibly royalty amongst the pogues and rightfully so with his charm, good looks, and his ability to fix basically anything he was a guy every girl wanted to sleep with. But to you he was an angel in disguise. Glancing over at him you saw him smirking behind his beer bottle and looking at you intently in your swimsuit dancing with Kie. âGo down, go down, go down, go to townâ You and Kie kept screaming out âand she shave it all off Charlie Brown with itâ dropping down and dancing on each other. John B laughing and throwing his head back, Pope smiling like an idiot, Sarah refusing to dance provocatively with you two trying to hold on to John Bâs arm for dear life. Today was gonna be good. You had JJâs attention from the moment you stepped on the boat and thatâs all you wanted even if it was because you were currently grinding with Kie.Â
Together but not together, you and JJ were in this endless cycle of teasing and flirting constantly but today you were winning. Watching him while dancing on Kie you knew you had him wrapped around your finger. Making sure your eyes were locked for most of the provocative parts of the song or when you dropped lower than normal. Watching how his eyes get a deeper shade of blue and how he was holding on tighter to the neck of the beer bottle John B handed him before you guys anchored down. Smiling to yourself you turned and gave Kie your full attention again dancing and acting foolish screaming lyrics to the wise words of Doja Cat âIf he donât eat it, he a D-bag, He can use a submarine, Iâll call him seamanâÂ
You were kind of this untouchable girl in the group, maybe even a better girl version of JJ easier to tame. Young, wild and free. Pretty, smart, fun always up for adventure but you had the spirit of Pope calculating and thinking things through but you knew when to let go. The perfect balance, Smart and quick on your feet, great at getting out of certain situations you became the mediator for Pogues and Kooks. Not being much of either you were what they would call a âPookieâ in the middle, not exactly a full Pogue but not much farther from being a Kook but not good enough either. However the group accepted you far quicker than they accepted Sarah Cameron, pure at heart and no ill intentions just wanting to have fun, Plus it didnât hurt that you stopped Rafe from attacking them the first time you met them on the island. After they knew you were badass and down to earth how could the 3 boys refuse to let you in their secret club. Kie joined later which you were thankful for, loving your boys endlessly for 4 years but you couldnât say no to another girl to help keep these boys corralled.Â
While being associated with the Pogues it didnât stop Kook guys trying to get at you. You were invited on figure 8 anytime as well as the cut. Princess of peace some would call you, you could get Kelce and Rafe to back down from a fight more often than not. Rafe not wanting to get on your bad side because you had a fire in your eyes and he wouldnât want to hurt his chance of possibly getting laid if the âopportunity arisesâ you would never but it didnât hurt to make him think so. Being Pookie came with power. Being able to control Rafe meant power over the Kooks. Hurting you could hurt Mr. Cameronâs business in some ways, you didnât have a big mouth but you never forget what happens, youâre a more credible person to believe than the Pogues if it came to spilling some of Rafeâs secrets. And Rafe never forgot that. So he played nice-ish when you were present. Plus it didnât hurt that he was attractive. So what if you flirted and hung out with them once in a blue moon. Young, Wild, and free.Â
Again though JJ, JJ Maybank was it. You guys were without a doubt each otherâs person. You werenât going to make the first move you were gonna let JJ do it. Watching him mack on Tourons hurt but nothing your friends and some fun couldnât fix. You and him were endgame anyways so why fret over whatâs inevitable. Thatâs what you told yourself. You were confident and you definitely had that boy wrapped around your finger. Knowing each otherâs quirks, body language, food taste, being each otherâs other half you guys had mastered for a couple of years now. Up until recently the tides have shifted your guyâs love for each other grew in a way neither of you suspected but it didnât change anything. Maybe more lingering touches, a couple more conscious forehead kisses or escorts home. Yet the blue-eyed angel still couldnât make it official so you did what you do best tease him any chance you got.Â
âD to the TF, got your bf in my DM, got him all up in my hairâ You make your way over to where Popes sitting pointing your finger at him to join you and Kie.Â
âNo-Noâ Pope lets out moving to get up, you wink at Kie who is laughing at Popes wide-eyed frantic figure who finally figured out what the songs about while trying to maneuver in the small boat. You and Kie finally get pope stuck between you two âcause I canât believe my eyes and her man between my thighsâ you and Kie keep screaming. Peaking over Popeâs shoulder you see JJ watching you âAnd itâs clean but messy like a pizzaâ you sing right at him making eye contact, you see the blue-eyed boy shift uncomfortably in his seat adjusting his swim trunks, eyes locked on you. You wink at him and see pink dust his cheeks as he clears his throat.Â
Turning to John B with a smile on your face makes Sarah squeal, âMy boyfriend too y/nâ she lets out, fake shock evident in her toneÂ
âSorry Cameron I donât have a boyfriend so I need to steal yoursâ you giggle holding your hand out for John B who has his hand over his heart and an awe look on his face flattered you chose him. He kisses Sarah on the forehead and stands up leading you next to Kie and Pope âIf your down boy really down, Baby let me watch you go to townâ youâre back is to John Bâs chest dancing to the beat yelling out the lyrics, you feel John B place his hands on your waist and see Kie trying to get Sarah to join you guys.Â
You feel heat on your waist and it's not John Bâs hands, someones staring at you, looking over to JJ you see him glaring at John Bâs hands holding onto your hips, guiding you to the beat. Rolling your eyes at JJ you huff, only JJ would get jealous over a guy who has a girlfriend and still not do anything about it. Pope went to go sit next to JJ since Kie left him to drag Sarah to dance before the song ended. You leave John B and dance your way over to Kie and Sarah.Â
âNo, No, Noâ Sarah squeals when you grab her wrist and Kie grabs the other you guys get her to stand up and push her to the front of the boat for the last chorus. Squishing Sarah between you and Kie you guys are lazily grinding on each other with the three boys sitting at the front of the boat whooping and hollering at your antics âlet me see you go to town, baby, go to town yeahâ
Making eye contact with JJ again you notice his tensed features, his jaws clenched and heâs biting his lip, his hairs messed up and you assume from him tugging on it. His eyes snap up to your face knowing he got caught checking you out he smirks opening his legs wider as if daring you to go to him and do your worst.Â
âBaby let me watch you go to town,â you say making your way over to the boys, John Bâs eyes widen hitting JJ on the shoulder âOh my godâ Pope lets outÂ
You make grabby hands to JJ, grabbing his hand that was covering his crotch innocently grazing his chest making pope let out a whistle, JJ stands up immediately taking your hand in his smirking while a goofy smile graces his features. You walk him to the middle of the boat turning your back to his chest and wrapping his arms around your waist immediately, you can feel his breath against your ear as he holds onto you tighter. Rocking your guyâs bodyâs together to the beat, you lean your head back and whisper into his ear âItâs your one chance, baby, never or now yeahâ you hear him groan gripping you tighter if possible. Giggling you push your ass against his crotch and hear him gasp âOkay thatâs itâ He lets out with a clenched jaw and you unravel yourself from him and go back to dancing with Sarah and Kie again âGo down, go down, go down, Yeah let me see you go to townâ Screaming when the songs over and the next one starts to play you guys laugh turning around looking at the boys who just sit there or stand in JJâs case with a shocked expressionÂ
âWhat the hell is wrong with you guys,â Kie asks crossing her arms, âYouâre killing the buzzâ she whines while Sarah walks over to John B and climbs in his lap causing you to laughÂ
Pope clears his throat and opens his mouth to say something but nothing comes out causing you and Kiara to laugh âLook y/n you broke Popeâ and Pope looks offendedÂ
âNo, she didnât,â Pope says but his voice cracked causing everyone to laughÂ
âI havenât seen y/n dance like that since the party with Rafeâ Sarah comments teasingly and suddenly everyone gets quiet. Kie rolls her eyes at Sarah for even mentioning himÂ
âOkay, yâall act like youâve never heard a song like that chillâ you chuckle going to the cooler to grab a beer and take a drink
âNo we have but like wow that was so-â Pope starts out with hand movements and everything but Kie shoots him a look raising her eyebrowÂ
âSo what Pope?â She asks and you go to say something but JJ cuts you offÂ
âThat was hot, like really hot not gonna lie I liked it, I liked it a lot actuallyâ JJ speaks up from where heâs standing on the boat looking at you. John B hits him upside the head âBro what the fuckâ JJ lets out turning to look at John B
âStop being grossâ John B states matter of factly âTheyâre having fun they donât need a perv ruining itâ
You give them a confused look âOkay Iâm going to swim, coming Kie?â You ask as she nods. Diving into the marsh instantly cools off your body, you hear Kie jump in after you. Swimming to the other side of the boat. The boys and Sarah out of view you hear Kie next to youÂ
âSo JJ is still a dumbassâ she huffs out rolling her eyes in the direction of JJ. Giggling at her you shake your head and she goes to speak up about his failed attempt to get down with you to Doja Cat when you guys hear JJ whisper shout trying to be quiet, you shoot a look to Kie and raise a finger to your lips telling her to be quiet while she nods
âOkay I stand corrected that was hot. Pope you should be worried about Kie leaving you for y/n did you see the way Kie went in after herâ JJ lets out a whistle and you and Kie giggle quietly moving your arms around to make it seem like yâall are still swimmingÂ
âShut upâ Pope lets out exasperated
âNo Pope listen Iâm serious that was so hot like y/n dived flawlessly sheâs perfect and the way Kie followed right after her like girl on girl action it just-âÂ
You snorted looking over at Kie who had an eyebrow raised, you made kissy faces at her until she splashed you. You could imagine JJ using his hands to emphasize his pointÂ
âYouâre disgusting JJâ you heard Sarah let out which caused you and Kie to start giggling until you heard a splash of water assuming it was Sarah. You and Kie swam a little ways from the boat to not give away that you two were snoopingÂ
âGreat, you pissed off Sarah great going JJâ you could faintly hear John B huffÂ
âWhat guys Iâm being honest, youâre gonna tell me that wasnât even a little bit hot,â JJ asks and you can see his arms extended outÂ
âOkay JJ yes but we donât say that shit out loudâ you hear Pope mumble. Your head shot straight to Kie who has a shocked expression on her face at Popes sudden small outburst and then to SarahÂ
âYou little snakes you heard themâ Sarah gasps outÂ
âSarah shut up oh my god, itâs so fun to tease themâ you flick water at her and head to swim back to the boat seeing John B and Pope join the girls in the water. The water had done its job cooling you off you wanted to tan.Â
Climbing back into the boat you hear a whistle coming from JJ âTake a picture itâll last longerâ you let out reaching for your towel to dry offÂ
âOnly if you let me take pictures of the entire view andâ he pauses popping the âandâ while pointing his finger at you âyou stay wetâ JJ lets out biting his lip as you shoot him a fake glare. Heâs reaching for your waist and you let him pull you to sit down between his legsÂ
You pout âI wanted to tanâÂ
âTo bad come keep me companyâ he smiles pulling you down, kissing the crown of your forehead nothing unusual but it didn't stop the butterflies from forming in the pit of your stomachÂ
âHow you feeling,â You ask him as he wraps a towel around your figure before wrapping his arms around you. Knowing he didnât get in the water because of his recent fight with his dad. His bruises were taking a little longer to heal than normal and he didnât want anyone worrying about him. You helped apply cream to them but he couldnât stay out of trouble long enough for it to heal properly.Â
âIâm perfect right nowâ he hums in content and you move to look up at him, his chin is resting in the crook of your shoulder and his eyes are closed, his arms wrapped across your torso holding you close to his chest. The sun is hitting his face perfectly making his blonde locks glow and thereâs a sense of calm he holds. He looks content, at peace and all you could ever ask for was this boy to feel all the love in the world and a part of you hoped he felt that with you. Placing a soft kiss on his chin you feel him shift, you turn your body to watch the rest of the Pogues in the water. Theyâre having a splash war and you canât help but let out a giggle at the girls trying to take down John B.Â
âYou missed,â JJ saysÂ
âMissed what?â You ask confused eyes still on your friends in the water
âYou missedâ He lets out annoyed at the lack of attention youâre paying to him
âJJ what the fuck are you-â His hand grabs your chin turning you to him quickly cutting you off and his lips are on yours.Â
Your lips melt into his instantly. His hand goes to hold the side of your face in his hand, tilting your head a bit to deepen the kiss. You feel like your heart is going to fall out of your chest. His other hand goes to pinch your ass as you let out a gasp he uses that as an opportunity to slip his tongue in your mouth. Attempting to fight for dominance you gladly let him win. He tasted like beer and spearmint with a hint of weed he probably smoked earlier. It was addicting.Â
Pulling away for a quick second he groans, his eyes still closed you can see him rolling his eyes like breaking away from him was the end of the world. You place quick pecks onto his lips while moving to straddle his lap, you feel him smirk against you. Pulling you closer to him, he has one hand on your ass holding you to him and the other holding the side of your cheek to keep you close, you pull his bottom lip into your mouth sucking on it as he groans. Pulling away reluctantly both of his hands find their way to the bottom of your ass.Â
Opening your eyes looking at him he sits with the biggest smile youâve ever seen on his face, eyes closed, lips red and swollen. He looks like a kid in a candy store and you canât help but let out a giggle. Placing your hands on either side of his neck you lean into him and place a couple of kisses on his lips he happily partakes in and you can feel his smile widening if even possible. Pulling away youâre met with blue eyes and a smirk. You lean up to place a kiss on his forehead as soon as you place it there his face nuzzles into your boobs and you canât help but laugh and he groans âyouâre so perfect, fuckâ he speaks into your skin playfully biting your chest
Tangling your hand in his hair behind his neck, you gently pull him away from your boobs, he leans in planting another kiss on you quickly âI like thisâ he places another kiss on your lips âI like this a lotâ he whispers to you as you break away for the third time.Â
Trying to chase his lips with yours you nod at him âYeah?â you smirk tugging at the hair gently on the back of his neck, tilting your head a little more back feigning innocent while he groans moving his hands to hold the side of your face to keep you from moving away any furtherÂ
Something flashes across his face you havenât seen before causing you to furrow your eyebrows together and then his eyes go soft and the way heâs looking at you makes you want to melt into a puddle âYeah I like this a lot actuallyâ he breaths out in a sincere whisper placing a kiss on your nose, you scrunch it up as he places gentle kisses all over your face until youâre pushing his face away to stop him you guys are both left laughing, He plays with a few strands of your hair just looking at you as if heâs trying to remember every little detail as if he didnât know it by heart alreadyÂ
âUm what are you guys doing,â Pope asks from the side of the boat with a questionable look only Pope could make
âPope what the fuck manâ JJ lets out pinching the bridge of his nose glaring at him. You move to get up and grab JJ another beer, noticing John b climb into the boat as well. âCanât you see Iâm trying to make magic happenâ JJ gestures towards your standing finger and you scoff placing a hand on your hip
âYouâre gonna need a lot of magic JJ little Pookie here has a wide range of optionsâ John B teases knowing JJ gets all defensive when your other affiliated party is mentioned the Kooks
âSheâs mine and everyone knows itâ JJ scoffs crossing his arms making his biceps bulge a little bitÂ
âMy brother doesnâtâ Sarah chimes in climbing into the boat next to you and you try to stifle your laugh at JJ fuming. Kie climbs aboard and starts arguing with JJ alongside Sarah about the logistics of a relationship and what that entails. Youâre sure you hear something about ownership and womenâs rights and you canât help but smile at your friends being idiots
John B pats the seat next to him for you to sit down, clinking his beer with yours or was suppose to be JJâs âSaludâ he chuckles ruffling your hair âI think Pookie is finally a Poguie, we can talk about custody over him laterâ he jokesÂ
âNoâ you hear JJ say over the music holding his hand to Kieâs face to shush her while pointing a finger over at the two of you âactually, she had full custody the entire timeâ you hear JJ shout over Kie trying to shove JJ in the waterÂ
âWhose pussy whipped now,â John B asks him raising an eyebrow making everyone burst into laughter and Pope lets out a low whistle
âI donât know ask Rafe-â JJ started which earned a shocked expression from you that lasted 2 seconds and a knowing look from Sarah before Kie finally pushed him over the edge and into the marsh resulting in a gasp from him and a content smiley Kiara
âIâm sure Rafe would gladly go to town with y/n, heâll take his one chanceâ Kie yelled towards him and a bunch of âoohsâ come from everyone before she continues âHmm actually let's put that on the playlist for the kegger tonight see what prince Kook wants to do with princess Pookieâ She goes to put her hand on her chin pouting her lips earning a nod from Pope Â
âThat's it youâre deadâ JJ pushes himself up into the boat and immediately grabs onto Kie throwing her back into the marsh, turning around he headed straight for SarahÂ
âJJ no, JJ-â Sarah screams out when he nears her âJohn B I swear if you let him-â but it's too late JJ is holding her bridal style in his arms tossing her over into the marshÂ
âSorry Kook youâre related to the guy canât have you spying on us revealing intelâ He salutes the two girls in the water going to sit in between your legs on the floor of the boat, his back against the seat
âYeah heâs pussy whippedâ Pope states pointing a finger towards you guys, JJ fake glares at him taking off his cut tank that is now soaked due to Kie pushing him in. Hoping it'll dry before the kegger tonight, you wrap a towel around his wet figure playing with his blonde hair and placing a kiss on the top of his headÂ
âJokes on you Popeâ JJ starts shooting him a look âIâm about to be treated like a kingâ JJ leans back shaking his wet hair into your lap which causes a groan from John B who was in the splash zone âBeer me womenâ he shouts holding his arms out earning a smack to his chest from John B, rolling your eyes you hand him the beer that was originally intended for him. He raises the bottle as the girls climb into the boat glaring at him. A shit eating grin on his face âSaludâ which earns a chorus of saluds back and a âhow does he do itâ from Pope causing everyone to burst into laughter while he starts the boat up to head back to the chateau.
The sun, the water, your boy and friends. Pogue style.Â

âEverybody has a soul. Joe Gardner is about to find his.â âTagline
Soul is a 2020 computer-animated fantasy comedy-drama film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film was directed by Pete Docter, co-directed by Kemp Powers, and produced by Dana Murray as Pixar's 23rd feature film. Originally intended to be shown in theaters, the film's release has been delayed multiple times as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and instead was released on December 25, 2020 on Disney+.
Joe Gardner is a middle school band teacher with a love for jazz music. After a successful gig at the Half Note Club, he suddenly gets into an accident that separates his soul from his body and is transported to The Great Before, the place where all souls go before being either reincarnated as newborn babies, or transported to the Great Beyond. Joe must enlist help from the other souls-in-training, like 22, a soul who has spent eons in the You Seminar, in order to get back to the Land of the Living before he dies, while also avoiding a soul-counter named Terry, who tries to bring Joe back to the Great Before.
Plot
Joe Gardner is a middle school band instructor. Despite his job entailing the handling of rowdy students, he expresses his passion for music and jazz with his excellent skills on the piano. He is offered a full-time position at the school, which concerns him as he wants to become a full-time musician. His mother, Libba, wants him to accept as it would keep him financially secure. By chance, his friend Curly reveals that jazz musician Dorothea Williams is holding open auditions for a piano player at the Half Note Club. Joe arrives and plays the piano beautifully to the point that Dorothea offers him the job on the spot. As Joe happily heads off to prepare for tonight's performance, he accidentally falls down a manhole.
Joe finds himself as a soul heading into the Great Beyond. Not wanting to die just yet, he escapes the conveyer-like pathway and instead finds himself in the "Great Before," where soul counselors, all named Jerry, set up young souls for life on Earth. Joe poses as an instructor who is set to train the souls and is given 22, a soul who has remained in the Great Before for many years. 22 does not like Earth and finds it pointless and purposefully badgers her past instructors to leave her alone. Joe reveals to 22 the real reason why he is here and looks at his life up to the point he supposedly died. He realizes that he has not done much with his life, which gives him more incentive to return. 22 reveals that she has a badge that fills up with traits. She needs to find her "spark" to complete it and say she will give it to Joe to return home.
Joe tries to get 22 to find something to be passionate about, but nothing works. She takes him out to "the zone," an area that people enter when their passion sets them into a euphoric trance with no other options. It also houses the lost souls who become obsessed with minor things. They meet Moonwind, a sign twirler who enters the zone to rescue lost souls. He agrees to help Joe return to his body, and they learn that he has fallen into a coma and is on life support. Joe excitedly hops back to Earth but accidentally brings 22 with him, resulting in 22 entering his body and Joe ending up in the body of a therapy cat. Meanwhile, Terry, an accountant in the Great Before, realizes the souls to the Great Beyond are miscounted and learns quickly that Joe is missing and convinces the Jerrys to let her go look for him to bring him back.
22 and Joe escape the hospital, and the former is frightened by the sights and sounds. Joe qualms her by giving her a pizza, allowing her to enjoy something for the first time. They run into Moonwind, who tells them that he can attempt to swap their bodies back, but after he is off work at 6:30, cutting it close to Joe's show at 7:00. They head to Joe's apartment, where Connie, one of Joe's students, arrives to tell him that she is quitting band. However, 22 listens to her trombone playing, and she changes her mind, perplexing her. They next go to get a haircut where 22 holds a conversation with Dez, the barber, and the two hold a very poignant conversation with each other. After 22 rips Joe's pants, they go to see Libba to have it fixed, and "Joe" finally has a serious talk with her about his passion resulting in Libba giving Joe his father's old suit.
Outside the club, 22 has an epiphany about many of the things she has experienced and decides she wants to live. Not wanting to switch back, she runs, and Joe gives chase. Terry catches up and removes them from their bodies and back to the Great Before, where 22 sees that her badge has been filled out. However, Joe tells her that she was using his experiences and that it does not matter. Angry, she tosses the badge at him and disappears to the zone. Joe learns from Jerry that a "spark" and "purpose" are not the same thing, and he heads back to Earth, where he makes it to the club on time. After playing for the night, Joe does not feel right about what happened and heads back home. Changed by 22's experience, Joe enters the zone and reunites with Moonwind to search for 22, who has become a lost soul. Joe chases 22 back to the Great Before and tries to give her her badge back but ends up getting eaten by her.
22 feels hopeless and broken about her purpose inside the corrupted body, with Joe trying to make her feel better, only to be stopped by the negative comments 22 was told (including his own). Taking a small petal that caught 22's attention before, Joe gives it to her, and she returns to normal. With her badge back, Joe rides with her as far as he can as 22 finally enters Earth. Joe is prepared to head into the Great Beyond but is stopped by a Jerry who tells him that he has inspired them and will give him another chance at life (as well as reveal that they distracted Terry from her counting so that she doesn't encounter the same situation as before). Joe thanks them and returns to the living, now with the intent to live his life to the fullest.
In a post-credits scene, Terry tells the audience that the movie is over and orders them to go home.

Wrapping up a recent Artistsâ Residency at the Catwalk Institute with pianist/composer Sean Mason and playwright Marcus Scott, Brooklyn-based vocalist and composer Charles Turner will present a one-night only âtastingâ from the project theyâve all been creating together. This will be the very first airing of selections/songs from âMelanin or The In-Crowdâ, an exciting new musical theatre piece in its nascent stages, to be performed live at Catskillâs Bridge Street Theatre on Saturday evening July 31 at 8:00pm.
Over the course of a weekend, a cadre of young, upscale, globetrotting professionals gather for one last hurrah in and around NYCâs lounge scene. Celebrating the newfound success of one of their own who has received a lucrative job offer overseas, the coterie spends an unforgettable weekend, touring various nightclubs in an endless cavalcade of booze, hookups and cheap thrills.
Inspired by the classic golden age MGM Hollywood musicals, but filtered through a modern lens, this splashy new musical encompasses a variety of musical styles such as blues, jazz, swing, big band, jazz fusion, progressive soul, psychedelic soul, cinematic soul, Sophisti-pop, quiet storm, urban, doo-wop, hip-hop soul, neo-soul, alternative R&B, funk, dancehall, reggae, highlife and afro pop. âMelanin or The In-Crowdâ is a postmodern coming of age rom-com that explores themes including millennials and the youth of America, materialism, consumerism, capitalism and commodification, classism, colorism, selfishness, respectability politics, depersonalization and dating in the digital age, sexism, sexual freedom, and modern love, all through the prism of black bourgeois culture.
The multi-faceted Turner has performed at such venues as Dizzyâs Club Coca Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Birdland, Smoke Jazz club and the historic Mintonâs Playhouse in Harlem. DEN OF GEEK CRITICSâ PICKS
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Theyâre the worldâs most fearsome fightinâ team. Theyâre heroes in a half-shell and theyâre green. I mean, what more do we need to say? 2014âs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is no Citizen Kane, but comic book movie fans flock to it like the four titular turtles to pizza. The film knows exactly what it is, providing cheesy one-liners, silly action, and unpretentious fun. Throwing in Will Arnett as a sidekick for April OâNeil was an inspired choice that paid dividends in laughs and whoever tapped Tony Shaloub to voice Splinter should get a pay raise. Produced by Nickelodeon Pictures, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles wasnât only the highest grossing film in the series, but also the highest grossing Nickelodeon film of all-time. This reboot of the classic ninja team helped spawn further films, new TV series, and a renewed interest in one of the most beloved comic book properties ever. Cowabunga, dude!
Noah
This isnât your Sunday Schoolâs Noah. Darren Aronofskyâs adaptation of the story of the biblical figure Noah is an awe-inspiring epic that takes the bones of the famous story and infuses themes about environmentalism, self-doubt, and yes, faith. Pulling liberally from texts like the Book of Enoch, the film has far more action than just leading animals onto a boat and a storm. Shot by Matthew Libatique, the movie looks absolutely gorgeous and at times can be genuinely breath-taking, but itâs not just about the visuals. Russell Crowe stuns in the title role, but the entire ensemble is great, including a post-Potter Emma Watson and a ferocious Ray Winstone. No one expected Noah to be more akin to a thought-provoking art house film than a straight-forward epic, but thatâs the sort of genius you get from Aronofsky, one of the most exciting and inventive filmmakers working today.Â
Shine a Light
Even if we hadnât just lost the immortal, suave Charlie Watts, the heartbeat of rock and rollâs longest institution, The Rolling Stones, weâd still be recommending Martin Scorseseâs Shine a Light. Capturing the legendary band during their A Bigger Bang Tour in 2006, Scorsese spends a lot of the time rightfully focusing on Watts. With the camera fixated on Watts, you witness his unflappability; the way that he can make such raucous playing look so effortless. You also catch the manâs unique, jazz-influenced technique, like how he rarely hits the center of his snare, or how he changes his grip whenever he hits a cymbal. Even in their old age, the Stones are still one of the tightest, most electrifying live acts, and Shine a Light puts you right on stage with them as they barrel through one of the deepest catalogs in recorded music. Itâs simply a masterful concert film.
The Virgin Suicides
Sofia Coppola likely has to deal with accusations about nepotism to this day, but anyone who saw her directorial debut The Virgin Suicides knows that Francisâ daughter would have made it as a filmmaker even without her famous last name. This haunting adaptation of Jeffrey Eugenidesâ novel of the same name taps into the melancholy of childhood, the dreamlike haze of memory, and the mystery that lurks inside suburban homes. Coppola expertly captures the pull that an ethereal group of sisters have on the imaginative group of boys that pine for them in a way that is relatable for anyone that had an unrequited crush in high school. As a coming-of-age movie, it is one of a kind. As an exploration of trauma and grief, it is crushingly effective. The original score by the band Air only adds to its hypnagogic vibe.Â
Rock ânâ Roll High School
Punk rock music and Roger Corman pictures are some of the core tenants that Den of Geek was founded on, so of course weâre going to recommend 1979âs Rock ânâ Roll High School, which features possibly the coolest band of all-time, The Ramones. Let our resident punk rock movie expert Jim Knipfel break it down for you:
âAfter producing so many dozens of teen rebellion films over the years, Corman finally hit the pinnacle, the ultimate teen rebellion picture, with the cartoon antics ratcheted up more than a few notches. There are so many bad jokes flying around, so many visual gags and film references packed into every scene, so many overwrought teen film clichĂ©s pushed way past absurd, itâs a film that demands multiple viewings. Even if âRiff Randall, rock ânâ rollerâ (P.J. Soles) doesnât look much like any punk chick I ever knew, Iâm perfectly willing to accept it. And in historical terms, it really was this film more than the 4 albums they had out at the time that spread the word about The Ramones to mainstream America, and thatâs worth something. Old as I am I still get a thrill every time the students and the Ramones blow up Vince Lombardi High, and anyone who doesnât must be wrong in the head somehow.â

Objects in the Mirror: fic
This is for my anon who asked: âwhat happens when Scully sees Mulder kissing someone else during their âseparationâ. This is set pre-season 10.
Willowy. Thatâs the first word that pops into Scullyâs head. The second thought is that at least the woman isnât a brunette too. Type, much, Mulder? The third thought is that itâs none of her business what Mulder does these days. None. At all. Unless itâs a health issue, heâs an adult. Heâs not herâŠThe mental conversation doesnât supply a word so her brain leaps to the fourth thought, which is how the fuck could he do that? She stops short of adding âto herâ, so she pulls herself back to the third thought, repeating like a mantra as she strides out, eyes to the sidewalk, desperate to unsee what she saw.
But now thereâs a burning itch in her gut, the kind that used to see her pumping more rounds out at the firing range or sending local law enforcement officers running for cover with her machine-gun observations of their sub-par work. Pity she canât blow her anger/disappointment/betrayal/jealousy off like that anymore; sheâs no longer FBI.
Pity she canât blow off being Scully.
She takes her writhing anger/disappointment/betrayal/jealousy into the cafĂ© over the road and orders a large latte and a white chocolate and raspberry muffin. She knows sheâll regret it almost immediately and spend a week denying herself any other treats but she needs the sugar hit. Mulderâs still talking to Willow-Blonde, so while Scullyâs waiting, she teases âLouisâ the barista with a slow smile, holding the seam of her wallet against her cheek, hugging her waist with the other arm and slowly twisting her torso side to side so that her hair falls over her face, then swings back off it again.
Itâs a pointless mating dance. Itâs reactive. Sheâs aware of that, but tries not to fall further down the Mulder-profiling-her rabbit hole. The slow-combustion of what she recognises as a misguided sense of dispossession is still taking place in her veins. She hates herself for this weakness but here she is swaying for a bearded barista. Louis blinks her way, finishing the latte art on her order with a flourish. For him, this ritual is part of his training. Keep the customers happy. Especially the older, professional women. Theyâre the ones whoâll return to the same cafĂ© time and again, spending their disposable income on cakes and romantic hopes. Sheâd fuck him though. Heâs pretty enough. She wonders what the male equivalent of willowy is. And then tells her mind to shut the fuck up.
Outside, where people are actually living with purpose, instead of imagining petty sex-revenge scenarios, the street is busy. Through the thrum, she spots Mulder again. His outline, his figure, is imprinted indelibly in her mindâs eye. She believes she could find him anywhere, in a ballgame crowd, in the darkened corner of a jazz club behind drifting dry ice, through the misty rain at the end of the yard, arm raised against the twisted apple tree, raging at the brutal sky above him. There was a time when she so desperately wanted him to return home from her imposed exile that she saw him everywhere: in the parking lot, at the line in the bank, across the street pushing someone elseâs baby in a stroller.
âLatte for Day-nah,â Louis sings, and as he hands over the cup his fingers brush hers. Theyâre thin, girlish, two knuckles decorated with calligraphy tattoos. She doesnât hold his eye, just whips the coffee and cake bag from his hand and heads outside.
The woman has gone but Mulderâs still there, brown paper cup in hand, sunglasses (those ugly sports ones he got from eBay because they were called SpookMeister, what? theyâre so me, Scully) across that familiar, broad nose, hair an inch past unkempt and stubble on his chin that hides that fat bottom lip just a little too much. She dips her face to her own cup and watches a moment longer before a car pulls up and he climbs in.
He calls her later. She doesnât answer the first time, lets the cell buzz and slide over the table top while his name flashes at her. When she does pick up, she feigns breathlessness and gets the desired response.
âDid I catch you at a bad time, Scully?â Thereâs disappointment laced through his words.
âNo, itâs fine. Just doing a workout.â She wheezes out a cough for extra measure.
âKeeping fit for all those kids, huh? Youâre a good doctor, Scully. Always going above and beyond for that place. I hope they know how deep your affections lie. Is there some kind of Olympic Games for paediatricians? The Doctors Games?â
Itâs hard not to bite back, but theyâve played this game for so long their dysfunction is beat-perfect. âKeeping fit for oneâs own personal health and wellbeing is a key component in living a fulfilling life, Mulder.â If only she could convince herself as easily as the words flow.
Thereâs a shuffle, a few clicks and bumps. Heâs changing channels. âI wanted to let you know that Iâve found a new therapist. One that seems to really get me, you know?â
His tone seems genuine and she softens. âThatâs good, Mulder.â Despite their issues, sheâs only ever wanted him to be well. âI do want to know these things. As your physicianâŠâ
âNot that I didnât like the other one you recommended, but,â he takes in a sharp breath as if to punctuate his point, âweâd run our course.â
She sinks into the chair, letting her head flop back on the rest. One step forward, two steps back. âHow often do you see him?â
âYouâre letting your unconscious bias show, Scully. Her.â
The small word stings like a needle. She refrains from asking him if she has blonde hair and legs like a foal.
âFortnightly. Weâre still at the heady getting to know you stage.â Thereâs a small silence where she imagines heâs assessing if heâs done enough damage yet. âSheâs young enough to understand Instagram but mature enough to get Prince.â
She laughs gently. The tension diffuses again and she feels a rush of emotion. She canât help herself. He drags her down then lifts her up with a simple switch of tone. âI saw you today. In town.â
âI do go out in the wild without my Ghillie suit sometimes, Scully. Why didnât you say hello? I donât bite.â
Not literally, she thinks. Well, not for a long time. She crosses her legs at the unexpected surge of arousal but the image of him kissing another woman creeps behind her eyes again. âIt feltâŠâ If he were here with her, in the same room, heâd lean in to her, tilt his head, quirk his lips, draw the truth from her. But thereâs a distance more than miles between them and she canât say the words. âI was running late.â
âThatâs unlike you, Dr Punctual. Is everything okay?â
The way he switches from teasing to caring leaves her off-balance. She waits for the world to right itself.
âCan you schedule me in for an appointment, Scully? Thereâs something Iâd like to talk to you about. Not medical. Are you free on the weekend?â
Tightness in her chest makes her breathing hitch. She adjusts the phone in her grip, gives herself time to respond. Sheâs faced mutants and monsters, her own mortality and his death, the loss of her children. Surely, his confession shouldnât be elevated to those ranks. Yet her hands tremble and nausea roils in her stomach. Her brain rocks. Itâs stupid, dumb to feel like this. She left him. She turned her back one last time and got herself away before the darkness swallowed her whole. The guilt that followed stripped her bare like a never-ending winter but recently sheâs begun to feel the warmth of the sun on her skin again.
âSure. Iâll come over,â she asserts. That way she can simply leave again. Walk the same walk.
âNo, let me take you to dinner,â he says, unexpectedly. âThat Thai place you like.â
Her sigh is sharp enough to graze her throat. He canât be that insensitive as to invite her to eat at the same place they celebrated getting the keys to the house or her news about the job at Our Lady of Sorrows.
âOr the Ethiopian restaurant. You loved their shiro wat.â
âWe could order pizza and stay home.â Home. She says it without thinking.
He chuckled. âLike the old days?â
âSomething like that,â she says, knowing it will be anything but.
In the end, they agreed on a lunch at the vegetarian cafĂ© and she orders an omelette she knows she wonât eat. He tucks into his feta and pumpkin quiche with salad and tells her heâs trying to eat cleaner. She doesnât ask whatâs brought on the change.
âWhat was it you wanted to tell me, Mulder? If itâs just to prove youâre finally paying attention to your diet, youâve demonstrated it adequately. I believe you.â Her fingers clasp around a napkin and she twists it to a sharp point.
His expression is the same one he used for the victims of the most bizarre kind of crimes. She feels panic welling in her throat and crushes the napkin into a tight ball.
âI wanted to tell you that I met someone. I figured I owed you an explanation. Not an explanation, I mean I havenât done anything wrongâŠfuck, this is hard,â he rubs the back of his neck. âJeez. I feel like a teenager. IâŠI just didnât want you to find out from someone else.â He pauses and she nods her head at him, encouraging him to finish, not only because heâs clearly still got stuff to get off her chest, but also because she just wants it over. âNot that anyone else knows because I donât have friendsâŠso, anyway. IâŠâ The noise he makes is a sad laugh. For her or for him? âThatâs, thatâs my news.â
His fingers have crept across the table and theyâre drumming on the surface, disturbing the small jug containing packets of sugar so that it chinks in time with his beat. He adds a low âsorry.â
If she takes a deep breath, what signal will that send? If she speaks too quickly, would that show a callous disinterest? She tries to smile but her lips refuse to co-operate. Sheâs never been good at hiding negative emotions, despite her tendency to stoicism. âHow did you meet her?â
âOnline,â he says. âWhere else does someone who spends days at a time in his den meet other humans?â
Heâs blushing and itâs charming and she hates it. âIs it serious?â The words are dry on her tongue.
He looks away and she tries to interpret the clench of his jaw. A beat. It softens and his mouth changes from grimace to lop-sided grin. âWhat does it mean if she left a copy of Why Men Donât Listen and Women Canât Read Maps on the coffee table?â
âWell,â she starts, trying to hold his eye despite a rush of conflicting emotions churning through her. âI would jump in the car and take it back to her, but Iâm not sure how to get to her place.â
Thereâs a moment of shocked silence, then his head tips back and he laughs. She sips her tea and enjoys the sound. It always pleases her so profoundly to make him laugh. Not many people could claim to draw out true joy from Fox Mulder.
When heâs collected himself, he rubs his chin. âShe took me out last week for coffee, took me out to tell me it was over. At least she did that, I suppose. SheâŠshe told me I was too insular. Can you believe that, Scully?â He plays for light. âAccording to her expert opinion of my psyche, that, I might add, she gleaned from two coffee dates and a meal at some over-priced French place where a dessert the size of a pin cost $50, I was still stuck in the past. With you.â He lowers his eyes and she rolls her lips together to stop herself from adding âand your demons and truthsâ. His shoulders move as he chuckles. âShe didnât really leave me that book, Scully. She didnât come to the house.â
Sheâs stupidly relieved to hear that.
âIt seemed wrong, somehow,â he says. âAnd it got me thinking, after her Dear John speech, that maybe this is what weâreâŠIâm destined for. A kind of relationship limbo. Prevented from going forward because Iâm still snagged on a Scully branch. Do you think sheâs right? If youâŠif you met someone, Scully, do you think you could give your whole self to that person?â He blinks slowly. âOr will there always be a small part of you left here?â He pats his chest with the side of his fist.
Her own heart speeds up. Sheâs had a few dates, a few flings. She hadnât told him because he wasnât in the headspace to process her attempts at moving on. And she can see now they were just âattemptsâ. There was an emptiness to the experience. And thereâs a grain of truth to his question. Itâs exposed just how indelibly tied they are because of their past.
She doesnât answer him and he plays with the lollo rosso on his plate. âI like the weight of you in here.â He looks down to his heart. âIt keeps me balanced.â A waiter retrieves their plates and Mulder watches her for the entire time heâs cleaning the table.
Her chest constricts, burns with such intensity that sheâs certain her face is aflame. His fingers meet hers, mid-table, and she lets him squeeze them, such tenderness, such affection, so far removed from the angry, impotent man sheâd left.
âHave we fucked each other up entirely, Scully?â
âIs that how she put it, your mystery woman?â
He grins. âI told her I liked being fucked up. Itâs the only life Iâve ever known. Thatâs when she threw in the towel.â
âI donât blame her,â she says, rubbing his knuckles. âImagine meeting Spooky Mulder all grown up. At least back in the day your paranoia was justified. Government conspiracies and all.â
âIf Dr Dana Scully had met me now, she wouldnât have lasted one date with Ole Spook, would she?â
She lowers her head as she giggles. âYou showed me many things, Mulder. Opened my eyes to wonders and closed them to the black and white life Iâd known. Iâm a better person because of you. I wouldnât change a day.â
âYou told me that once before.â
âAnd I still mean it.â
Outside, the day is cooling, sun leaching away behind thickening cloud. They walk in amiable silence down the street. Thereâs a bookshop she loves and he nods as she lingers at the door. Inside, the comforting smell of words on pages wafts over her and she browses the dark-shadowed shelves.
Mulder emerges with an armful of books from Squatchinâ for Novices to Meals for One. She swallows at the sight of that one. Sheâs picked up a mystery thriller, and couple of romances that he side-eyes. She bats him over the arm with one. Then she spies the main prize. She picks out two copies. A his and her pair. The teller scans them through and she hands one to Mulder.
Heâs still laughing as they walk to their cars. He puts the other books on the passenger seat of his car and clasps his copy of The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck to his chest.
âShit is fucked,â she says, reading from the blurb.
âAnd we just have to live with it.â He drops a kiss on her head and smiles a full-wattage beam. âYouâre still a good date, Scully.â
âYou too,â she says. âAnd Iâm glad you told me aboutâŠyourâŠâ
âTiffany. That was her name.â
She canât help the sharp burst of laughter that comes out. âIâm sorry,â she says. âThatâŠwas unexpected.â
He snugs a hand in his jeans pocket. âI know. It should have been a warning.â
âWell, unfortunate name aside, itâs good that youâre getting out there.â
âOut there. Where the truth is? I donât think Iâll be doing it again in a hurry.â
She pulls a sympathetic face, reaches out to touch his arm. âI donât want to be your snag, Mulder. I thought I was setting you free.â
âWeâll never be free of each other, Scully. And I donât want to be free in that sense, not if it means never having days like this. IâŠmiss you.â He bounces his toe off the ground and the lump in her throat wedges itself firm.
âIâd better be going,â she whispers. Turns to leave.
âMaybe we can make this a weekly thing,â he says after her. âJust two fuck-ups having lunch, you know?â
She stops, turns back around, smiling through her tears. âMaybe.â And she watches him in the rear-view mirror. Objects in the mirror may appear closer than they are, she thinks as she drives away, and sometimes, they actually are.

Headcanon that after Rose and Kanaya decide to move out of their flat and get a house, Vriska and Terezi (who have both returned and are dating by this point) move in with them. They just ask to stay temporarily at first, promising that theyâll find their own flat eventually, but as time goes on, Vriska reels in favours and invents reasons to stay for longer. Rose and Kanaya donât mind, however; they appreciate the company. And eventually it becomes obvious to all four of them that the current living situation is effectively permanent.
When you have functional (barely) lesbian wives, disaster bisexual girlfriends, and three cats all living in the same house, you get sitcom-level scenarios.
Take note that aside from Rosemary and Vrisrezi, all relationships are platonic.
This got really long so Iâm putting it under a Read More tag.
First, about the cats. Technically, they belong to Rose and Kanaya, since theyâre the ones who feed them. But one of them, a ginger tom, has practically glued himself to Vriska. Vriska wears a lot of black. I think you can see where this is going.
The cats pose a problem for Terezi for two reasons. First of all, sheâs prone to tripping over them or sitting on them by accident. Second, on multiple occasions, she has licked something and gotten a mouthful of cat hair for her efforts. Needless to say, none of the cats like her.
After The Saliva Incident of February 16th, Terezi is no longer allowed to lick anything not within her and Vriskaâs room. Nobody is allowed to talk about The Saliva Incident of February 16th for fear of going under the business end of Kanayaâs lipstick.
Rose is fairly neat but is prone to mess when sleep-deprived, which she often is. Kanaya is a neat freak. Vriska and Terezi are slobs on par with stereotypical university students. There is an ongoing feud.
Theyâre all kept busy in some manner. Kanayaâs the only one with a real job: taking care of the mother grub. Rose and Terezi are both in university, studying psychology and law respectively. Vriska bounces between part-time jobs a lot, trying to figure out what sheâs going to do with herself for the rest of eternity.
Kanaya has remarked that Vriska and Terezi are vacillating through all four quadrants simultaneously. Karkat is trying to confirm her claim but is hung up on the auspistice part.
Vriska has expressed interest in acting. Sheâs torn about whether it would be a good or bad idea due to her god status.
Jade is slowly but surely teaching Kanaya how to teleport. She practices a lot. The cats are afraid of her now. Terezi refused to speak to her for a week following one incident that shall not be discussed.
Rose and Kanaya, even though theyâre married, are not clingy. Kanaya in particular is reticent to express affection through physical means. Vriska and Terezi, however, are very clingy. More need not be said on this matter.
In contrast, Rose and Kanaya often call each other pet names. They most frequently use âhoneyâ and âdearâ, but sometimes they branch out. Vriska and Terezi only call each other pet names if theyâre actively trying to make other people uncomfortable. It happens more often than youâd think.
The four young ladies hold game/movie nights every Thursday. Occasionally, Dave and Karkat join them. Sometimes, they do livestreams. Those often deteriorate into madness.
They watched âThe Stingâ one evening. Vriska now has ideas. She is officially barred from watching âOceanâs 8âł.
Rose once convinced everybody to join her in binge-watching all the Lord of the Rings movies in one day. It went over surprisingly well. Sheâs now trying (unsuccessfully) to get Vriska and Terezi to read the books. (Kanaya has read them but doesnât like them quite as much as Rose does.)
Kanaya and Terezi used to duel on the front porch on occasion. After Terezi nearly lost a finger, they stopped.
Vriska is the reason why Terezi failed her bar exam.
None of them can cook. Like, not even Kanaya can make anything more complex than a sandwich. They get takeout about twice a week.
Vriska has been known to subsist on nothing but graham crackers and those pull-apart cheese stick things for upwards of 36 hours. Itâs not that she forgets to eat, itâs that she snacks on them nigh-constantly and doesnât feel hungry enough to consume an actual meal.
Rose is the one who forgets to eat. Some days, she only has lunch and drinks coffee the rest of the time. Kanaya posts sticky note reminders for her all the time. They donât help much.
Terezi, on the other hand, has a ridiculously fast metabolism. They always order two medium pizzas instead of one because Terezi will finish one all on her own.
Kanayaâs diet is mostly normal. She has acquired a liking for rare meat.
Vriska can sleep through a fire alarm (and has done so before), which is a good thing because Terezi snores. However, Tereziâs a fairly light sleeper, so sometimes she wakes herself up.
Kanaya sleeps like a mummy. She lies on her back and just. Doesnât move. Rose doesnât seem to find this odd.
Terezi stole a copy of Roxyâs old Complacency of the Learned fanfiction and brought it home for her and Rose to read. Rose claimed that she was simultaneously expecting both better and worse out of it.
At one point, Aradia burst through the window and asked to stay over for the night. They let her stay. She left in the morning without any explanation.
Kanaya has a deal with the local hospital with regards to her blood-drinking requirements. (They let her purchase donated blood from them for a fee.) Sometimes, if she runs out and forgets to go shopping, sheâll ask one of her friends to donate.
Terezi is proficient in the slide whistle, to the detriment of everybody else.
Vriska knows that Kanaya should never be trusted to name things in any timeline. She stopped her from naming one of the cats Nepeta.
The names of the cats are:
Glenn: The ginger tom who loves Vriska. Is found sleeping in very strange places.
Shepard: Grey tabby tom, slightly ornery but mostly lazy. Kanayaâs cat, by process of elimination.
Artemis: Brown tabby she-cat, slightly lazy but mostly ornery. Only likes Rose. Was almost named Nepeta.
They all have wildly different tastes in music. Terezi prefers so-called âsingle-colour songsâ, which can be anything from smooth jazz to EDM to heavy metal. (Her playlist is like an acid trip.) Rose likes classical music and dubstep and dubstep remixes of classical music. Vriska likes rock, both classic and alternative. Kanaya prefers show tunes and the like. However, they are all united by a strong distaste for country music.
Rose is learning Alternian so that she can understand what Kanaya, Vriska, and Terezi say behind her back. She already knows what her birthday present is going to be. Itâs either a set of golf clubs or a necklace. Sheâs still pretty shaky on vocabulary.
Kanaya claims she is the sole reason why Rose and Vriska havenât killed each other yet. (Vriska actually HAS killed Rose, but it was ruled a stupid death. Thank God.)
Terezi hung a stuffed Dirk in effigy in the dining room once. Rose took it down almost immediately, but she took a picture of it first.
Rose is practically nocturnal at this point, given her university studies and the nocturnal habits of her housemates. One time, she stayed up for 53 hours straight. Lots of hallucinations and espresso were involved.
Other than all the clashing caused by the differing personalities, the four young ladies get along surprisingly well. Sometimes, they claim that their time spent on the meteor was training.

Peter Lemer -Â Son of Local Colour - a 50th-anniversary live rendition of the Local Colour album, with most of the original band (ESP-Disk)
The core of this group â four of the five musicians listed below â recorded an LP for ESP-Disk' in 1966. The plan, conceived the year after the 50th anniversary of the recording session, was to reunite the original quintet, which had existed for six months back in '66, but unfortunately Nisar Ahmad (George) Khan, tenor saxophonist on the original album, came down with something and couldn't appear. Alan Skidmore (Lemer bandmate in SOS) was deputized and, as all familiar with his career would expect and you will hear, came through with flying local colours at the concert on February 20, 2018 at noted London jazz club Pizza Express. Four months later, Jon Hiseman passed away at age 73 after battling a brain tumor. Five of the original album's six compositions are reprised, but with more room to stretch out on them in the concert context. New to Lemer's ESP discography are Lemer's tribute to British saxophonist/frequent Lemer bandmate Dick Heckstall-Smith, "Big Dick"; Surman's "URH"; and a wild interpretation of Coltrane's "Impressions."
Personnel: John Surman, baritone and soprano saxophones; Alan Skidmore, tenor saxophone; Peter Lemer, piano; Tony Reeves, double bass; Jon Hiseman, drums
