lmao our flag means death. honestly it was just a mixture of s2’s writing and clear lack of direction/habit of pandering to the audience in ways that wrecked the plot/characters + that audience consisting of a deranged fandom who tore each other apart and yelled at each other over a fucking pirate sitcom. if you check the tag now it’s just a few straggling remaining fans and some of the worst people you’ll ever meet still being vicious about fictional characters. nobody cares the show is undeniably over go get a hobby or some friends

I made PalMod palettes for every Guilty Gear AC+R character based on the Game Boy Color's default palettes! Free to use, credit me if asked. I have these all set to the EX Punch slot personally, if you happen to run into a player named "goopshit" online. All the PNG files are under the linebreak, just drag the file onto the PalMod preview window when set to the palette you wish to replace, and it should just apply all the right colors.

hello do you have any tutorials for babys first fo4 overlay? i have a little bit of experience directly editing textures in nv but fo4 overlays are melting my brain

I dont know if there are any tutorials actually ha. I struggle with following along to videos so everything I know I know from pulling apart other mods. Making overlays can be a huge pain in the ass but its more time consuming that hard.

You'll need Notepad++ to edit the json files, these are read by F4SE/looksmenu to inject things into the game. You also need amd compressonator or icestorms texture toolbox to compress the dds textures. Don't use the nvidia compressor, it doesn't use the right format for face textures. You'll also need material editor to edit the material files for body overlays.

Different textures need different formats, I use irfanview with the dds plugin to open files from the base game to check what kind of compression I need. Fo4 uses BC1, BC3 and BC5. You can also use BC7 for some diffuse textures, though it doesn't work with face textures.

If you've already made texture edits I'll assume you know how to work with dds files. Face tints support _d _n and _s textures, body overlays only support _d textures. If you want to add any custom normals or spec/gloss details to a characters body you are better off using unique player.

I use substance painter to make my textures and photoshop to put them into properly formatted .tga or .png files to be converted. I pay money for them because I'm a chump but you should just pirate them fuck adobe.

There should be an example file for overlays on the looksmenu page. I think there are a couple of guides to overlays on nexusmods, but I found it more useful to download existing mods and see how other authors set up their files. THIS is an essential writeup on setting up the json files for face tints. Both face and body overlays need an .esp file to load the F4SE files, the plugin is empty just copy one from one of my mods and rename it.

Usually when I make a new mod I take one of my old ones that's already working and edit it to do what I need, rather that starting from scratch. You have full permission to use anything from any of my mods to make your own. This one has a big variety of face tints. This one has a couple of body overlays. I used to have better examples on my google drive but I had to delete all my tattoo overlays to save space oops... Just download a bunch from other authours and poke around their material files to see how they get different effects.

Note if you have any formatting errors in your json files the game will crash on launch. It will also do this if you don't delete and .bak files that notepad++ might create in the same directory. If you can select the overlay/tint in game but it doesn't appear then you either have a typo in the path or a formatting error in the texture. Or the game hates you.

im not sure if its an unpopular opinion but i think more characters need silly hats like theo i just think its so funny how theos hat looks like its not actually touching his head and i want more characters to have that mainly silvio

I do hate theos hat in a 'yall really could have at least tried to mesh it better with the sprite 😭' way, but i love the idea of everyone in the fandom playing around and putting transparent pngs of hats onto random charas. Lets put a silly pirate hat on silvio, or a bandana, or business hats. Lets put Chev in pretty headbands. Lets put clavis in a top hat. I want the chaos!!!

otherwise in the game, if the hat was meshed well, I wouldnt have a problem with theos hat!! would be interesting to see other accessories with people tho

I would never play a gatcha game cause if the girls were actually that cute I'd just make a folder named after the game on my desktop and save high quality PNGs of my favorite ones to it and save my money to simply commission artists to draw them instead and call those "SSSRares" and I'd get the exact same results for way less money without having to get a gambling addiction or install a mobile game on my phone.

Pirate Book Cover

I wanted the book cover to be bound in sea creature skin, first off I looked at crocodile scales as opposed to leather to fir the sea creature look better but the scales were so large and the texture looked so bumpy so when I placed text and other decorations it didn't look convincing enough so I instead decided to go with leather as the ridges in between the skin isn't so deep so it actually looked liked the decoration was on the book. I'd already used green leather but adjusted the hue just to make it a little bit more bright.

The book is a guide on how to capture sea monsters so I came up with a formal title you typically see on non-fiction books and then the author/pirates name Christopher 'Black Hat' Crowley, the alliteration makes the name easy to remember and his last name is Crowley because instead of a stereotypical parrot on his shoulder he has a crow but the name Crowley is used in most-famously in TV shows like 'Good Omens' and 'Supernatural' in which both characters are demons so the name is associated with villainous characters. Using a PNG from google I added a dirty texture along the corners of the book to just settle it into the world a bit, the book was written by a pirate in a dirty pirate ship and bound with skin ripped off a sea monster so it wouldn't be in pristine condition but not enough to take away from anything and be distracting.

I then illustrated a portrait of Crowley and framed him in a gold oval, this shows that although he is a nasty pirate he still has occurred wealth and of course he's going to frame a picture of himself in gold and put it right in the centre of the book. I added drop shadows to the frame to make it look more real and to give off the illusion that it was raised the best I could.

To make it more interesting and fill in some blank space I added this decoration, adjusted it a small bit and added a shadow.

I used the same green leather image for the spine and put the title and author again and added the dirt effect along the side to blend the spine and front cover together.

When placed to the book mock up it looks really cool and i'm really happy with it. I changed the colour of the pages to a dirty yellow for the same reason I added the wear and tear.

Finally, I changed the background to fully involve in a world. Using stock images I created an environment that supports the book, ink splatters and a quill, to show that perhaps Crowley had just finished writing it. I was already happy with the book by itself but adding a surrounding environment is the cherry on top, I made sure to put the ink and quill on opposite sides, framing the book so it was still the main focus but just giving people something else to look at.

So, I'm working on this super-secret YouTube project (cue dramatic music 🎵), and I thought I'd share a bit of the behind-the-scenes chaos with yall. Because nothing says "I'm a professional" like publicly admitting you have no idea what you're doing, right?

Current status:

• Series concept: The only solid thing in my mind, apart from a part of the frontal cortex

• Script: A beautiful combination of caffeine-induced brilliance and 3 AM nonsense and a shit ton of categories and sub-categories

• Logo: Still in the "Maybe I can just use a random png?" phase

Now, I know what you're thinking: "But Spencer, what IS this secret project?"

Well, my dears, that's for me to know and for you to wildly speculate if you so feel like. Wrong guesses only, tho!

This is the Buddy for August 22nd. It's a bit nostalgic for me because I used red over a black background a lot when I started using FireAlpaca. Mostly because I was saving the drawings as .png files so if I did use black I wouldn't be able to see them in Windows Explorer.

This Buddy's got a Rei Ayanami style eyepatch. Eyepatches have a lot of uses in fiction - they show a character's a badass, a veteran, a pirate, a mysterious stranger, a disaster survivor, or even just a future version of a regular character. But we never see people wearing an eyepatch because of a medical issue. Except maybe for Nick Fury.
