i've thought about this One Piece but if There Were Pokemon AU a lot and I wanted to share it because I'm so normal about it. Its literally just one piece if pokemon also existed in the world. This all started because I just like giving fictional characters pokemon teams sometimes because it's fun. I started giving the straw hats Pokemon teams and then I couldn't stop thinking about it. I was still reading Drum Island when this all started (I dont think I had even met Chopper yet LOL)

Most of these are a few months old at this point (w the exception of Luffy and Law that I drew today) but these are a few doodles I did of some of the straw hats with their first pokemon when they were still kids :] (I'd like to mention not all of them have a specific like "how they met" story, but I have ideas for who their first pokemon were at least)

Luffy's first pokemon was a Slowpoke that he received from Shanks. It's a Pokemon he initially thought was lame before getting gifted one.

Zoro's first pokemon was Pawniard. Pawniard are very territorial and Zoro wandered into it's territory and pissed him off. Zoro was so sour about losing so he kept finding his way back somehow out of pure spite (he would probably just wander until he found it again) and he kept fighting him over and over until he won. After he won though, they were inseperable. (Pawniard is just as bad with directions as zoro is btw)

I imagined in this AU Ohara was one of the few places that figured out how to revive fossil pokemon. Robin happened to dig up a claw fossil one day and they revived it for her. She tried to teach him how to read.

Franky initially found his Zigzagoon in the trash. He scared him away, but Zigzagoon came back and headbutted him to get back at him. (cuz he's petty) He kept coming back and it just became a game to the two of them. They quickly became besties.

Nami's first pokemon was Purrloin! Purrloin was stealing tangerines from the orchard and Nami caught her in the act. They became partners in crime.

Sanji's first Pokemon was Bounsweet. She was hungry and he fed her. She was very grateful so she stuck by his side.

Ace's first pokemon was Scorbunny

Law's first pokemon was Mareanie

Chopper's first pokemon was Happiny. He received it from Hiriluk.

Brook's first pokemon was Fuecoco

Jinbe's first pokemon was Poliwag

Hi, I'm thinking about submitting John Oliver Pokémon as a submission to a blog that polls people about what Pokémon fictional characters, real people, etc. would have; what birds should I suggest? 🐦

I answered a similar question here about a year ago - some of what I say below will be a duplicate of previous thoughts/reblogs from that, but it's such a fun question!! I love that a blog like that exists, make sure to share the final product OP. Anyways!

I think the obvious pull is Toucannon. Like look at this fucking thing.

You can see the contempt oozing from it. It is disgusted with your complete ambivalence towards deep ocean science research abuse or whatever. It's seen every Adam Driver film and will school you on the metaphorical meaning of all of them, even 65. You know those dog owners who look like their dogs? That's this Pokemon and John.

I also stand by John's starter Pokemon having been a Piplup, because he loves penguins and would not be able to rationalize not taking the cute little penguin. In a similar vein, a Rowlet also seems like a good call for his starter Pokemon.

John is (and I think people don't really realize this because his episodes of The Bugle are nearly 20 years old at this point (!!!)) a big music buff/fan, so I think Chatot would be a good match as well. Imagine a Chatot singing as drunkenly-sounding as John does. Perfection.

I know you asked for birds, but @sunnyhedgie previously suggested Polteageist and the idea of John as a super stereotypical Gentleman trainer with his fucking teapot Pokemon is such a perfect image in my head. I can literally see his Game Boy Advance sprite in my head.

Finally, again, I know you asked for birds... but Rapidash. No explanation needed.

Don't worry about of the only one species and body type I'll be looking that later and making more or whatever haha for now ducks because I was drawing out my ducks:

Left is their technical designs I draw for them out of toon towns color by the lines model restrictions. The right was basically what they look like in game.

Blue one is baby blue/Daffodil/Daffy Blues, and their markings and design is inspired by the pokemon Piplup. They don't yet exist in game, and that's basically because I'm waiting for my irl birthday as I want to give my birthday to them. I ship BB with Cathel/Multislacker and their ship name is Lackadaisy. They have a relaxed gardening vibe with lots of blues, all the blue witch, sea/sailor/ocean, moon items they'll hoard. May also wear a crown or masquerade mask.

Green and red one is Quackabilly and inspired by Hr, Dave Brubot and of course, Duck Shuffler, as I bought his plushie before ever even downloading the game itself. He hoards exclusively gambling and casino motif items. Even if my other save files dont have THAT specific HR, Duck Shuffler or card jester themed item HE WILL.

Lucky predates both of these other goobers AND me joining toontown by a year, being based off the idea of a fictional/fan made casino in Las Nevadas, a parody casino country owned by Quackity's DSMP character. The name? Lucky Duck('s/s). A month later QSMP had the same idea... More or less. Id double down on this and add lucky block markings and a subtle heart motif to lucky.

Hello people of rotomblr!

I'm Marius! I am a writer of travel reports and gay fiction for all age groups and a huge history nerd. After completing my studies at Uva-Naranja, I was actually expected to return to my home region and work a different job. However, thanks to a very supportive group of friends and my partner pokemon Spot, I decided to pursue my dreams and Spot and I have been on the road ever since.

I am also somewhat of a trainer and have competed in a couple of gym challenges... to mixed results. I will admit me and my pokemon are not the strongest team out there but we have heart and we do pretty well being constantly out on the road.

Fun facts about me and my time

✨️ Spot and I met during a particularly harsh winter in my home region when she (still as a Vulpix back then) followed me on my way home from the school I went to prior to the Academy in Paldea.

✨️ Spot likes it when we just sit somewhere cosy and I brush her fur for hours and talk to her (and somehow it kinda feels like she talks back).

✨️ Eduardo was my second ever pokemon and is always up to something.

✨️ Gregory was fully evolved when I caught him.

✨️ I am constantly on the go and don't exactly have a huge budget (not doing badly financially - just feeding a full team and myself and having to find accommodations) so when I have some extra cash I really like putting that into a spa day.

✨️ I got gifted an Ice Stone for my 5th anniversary of being with Spot and that's basically the story of how she evolved.

✨️ Lucien has an intense rivalry with my friend's Meowscarada.

✨️ Piotr was the only time I ever saw a pokemon egg hatch and raised that myself.

✨️ Piotr likes to imitate my movements when I cook.

✨️ Spot looks like a shiny when she terastalises (and on that note - no I have no idea why here Tera type is Ghost but before I met her I wanted to be a Ghost-type specialist)

✨️ Precious is the only wild Tera pokemon I ever caught and I got given my Tera Orb because I talked the teachers into it after catching her.

✨️ Precious likes to come out and stare at the moon for hours during nighttime.

✨️ Romeo was given to me as an Eevee by a very eccentric playwright.

✨️ Gregory has such a soothing presence.

✨️ Romeo knows Flamethrower. A move I'm 100% certain he shouldn't know. I've always assumed it's linked to Terastalisation and Tera Blast not working outside of Paldea.

Long story short op

Design that isn't completely masculine/is in any way girly = Girl in most Pokemon fandoms eye

I got shit once for calling my male Primarina a boy because he looked too girly to not be a girl (despite every playthrough of sm/usum I've down with piplup had them be a little dude)

It all boils down to misogyny even if the person doesn't realize it

Meganium and Venusaur are ultimately the same pokemon design wise, big plant dinosaur with a flower

But because Venusaur is more "Manly" in looks that makes them a Boy No Matter What, because the flower is based off a Corpse Flower

Where as Meganium has a Big Pretty Girly Flower and Soft Lines And Curves, so that means they are a Girly Girl UwU

These are the same people who bullied Game Freak into making Gallade because they could not handle Gardevoir being Male despite originally having a more androgynous design, and why there are plenty of Pokemon lines now that when they have a Girly design are Locked To Only Bring Girls (looking at Tsarrena or however you spell it, and Hatteren)

Because they don't like when a girly design can really be a boy, because that's not right in their eyes

And many of them don't even realize they let that bias paint how they see pokemon

Taruos and Miltank are an early exception because they were legit made for lore purposes to be just male and just female, but it's because ultimately they are close enough to mate with each other and have children, it's just meant to copy real life, the bull for work, and the cow for dairy and meat

These people got weird about Professor Oak asking your gender in the Gen 1 remakes Fire Red and Leaf Green, because how dare Oak imply the Manly Men could be Girls

They assign genders to Pokemon as a whole species instead of the individual pokemon because of shit like "Gardevoir shouldn't be Male and Machokes shouldn't be Female", because they forget both that these characters are fictional, but also that they are animals. They work under their human binary, so much so that some even argue against the pokemon that do not have genders for not having them, because they don't fit the human binary

And when they see a pokemon in the anime do something gendered, they cling to that as a reason why that's a "main personality trait" even though we see another Chikorita who's as obsessed with Baseball as their trainer, but thats not a personality treat because that doesn't fit their view of Chikorita and I hate it

I'd much rather have the universal "main trait" be that Chikorita just really liked to fucking clock things with their head leaf over "crushing on main character UwU"

I'm sorry I feel strongly on this mainly because of the amount of dumbasses who get somehow when the first pokemon I catch of most species that have a gender split at all don't match the gender they assigned every Pokemon of that species

38.“I could kill you right now!” (Dawn/Paul)

He wasn’t the guy Dawn expected to run into first after getting back to Sinnoh. He wasn’t the guy Dawn would’ve wanted to run into first. But they’d made eye contact, and it was only polite to say something.

“Hi, Paul,” she said with a slight wave that Piplup mimicked. “It’s been a while. How’re your Pokemon doing?” Silence. That wasn’t unusual for Paul, but it was one of the things that made talking to him so uncomfortable. That and his eyes - they were so intense. “Uh, Paul?” She waved again, this time to try and get a reaction. “Did you hear me?”

He didn’t even blink. He just kept staring at her, with those narrow black eyes of his until, finally: “Who are you again?”

It was going to be a hassle, re-packing all the luggage that burst open when she tossed it aside. And Piplup was probably ready to pass out, straining to hold her back. But Dawn didn’t care. “YOU JERK! I COULD KILL YOU RIGHT NOW!”

Blue Penguins are just super common in fiction though? Dedede, DJ Grooves, all the Baby penguins in Songbird Symphony, those Mario Penguins, Piplup. Real life penguins come in blue, too, just not as saturated (there’s a species of penguin called fairy penguins I love them). Also penguins are round especially in cartoons and especially when they’re chicks, which Pablo is. 1/?

Here it is. The infamous Pablo essay. I believe this part was about me calling Pablo not a real penguin because he's blue. Which I stand by, but I think he's actually closer to a dark neutral teal.

PokéShipping ideas

So, as you all are probably aware, 1-7 November is Pokéshipping week, so here we go. Even though I ship these two since I was, like, twelve, this is the first time I’m celebrating and partecipating. 

I have so many ideas for PokéShipping fan fictions, but I’m going to write down the two I prefer:

# idea 1: Satoshi (Ash) is travelling in Kalos together with Serena, Citron (Clemont) and Yurika (Bonnie). At some point, Kenji (Tracey) or Takeshi (Brock) calls him with big terrifying news: Kasumi (Misty) got hurt, she’s in a coma at the Hanada Town (Cerulean City) hospital. She could die. Satoshi doesn’t even think about it twice: he takes the first flight to Kanto. Serena and the others decide to tag along, worried - but not as worried as him. Satoshi freaks out. He doesn’t speak to anyone in the airplane, lost in his fearful thoughts. 

When they arrive, he goes straight to the hospital and finds it quite crowded. Kenji, Takeshi and Kasumi’s sisters are there, as he expected, but also his mom, Professor Okido (Oak), Shigeru (Gary), Haruka (May), Masato (Max) and a couple of unknown faces, probably Kasumi’s fans. They all explain their reasons to be there. Satoshi doesn’t really care. All he wants to know is if Kasumi is going to be okay. She has to. 

Hikari (Dawn) calls, after a few days, once the news has spread. «Daijoubou (It’ll be fine)!» she reminds him, with a smile. He doesn’t reply with what he’s thinking («Will it, though?»), he just nods and smiles back. It’s going to be okay. It has to.

# idea 2: While Satoshi is travelling in Kalos, Serena goes to find some branches the gang needs for a nice fire. She meets a nasty pair of people who challenge her to a Pokémon battle and beat her pretty easily. They try to steal her Pokémon. She is in danger. 

At that right moment, four people step aside, coming out of nowhere, protecting her. A ginger tomboyish girl, a brunette girl with a red bandana, a blue-haired pretty girl and a dark-skinned girl with long purple hair. «Don’t you dare stealing other people’s Pokémon!» shouts the third girl on the right, with a Pochama (Piplup) on her hat. «You should be ashamed!» goes the second girl on the left. «You’re both very disrespectful kids. Learn how to behave!» says the fourth girl on the right, a Kibago (Axew) among her hair. «We all had to train them with love and patience. Stealing someone’s Pokémon... disgusting!» the first girl on the left is on fire. The four of them make the two run away and save the day.

Hikari, Haruka, Iris and Kasumi. They saved her. Serena feels so grateful. She hopes she’s going to be friends with them. Then Satoshi comes... and happens to know them all.
