#Pier of the Unknown

Yesterday evening, my friends and I were back in Cassette Beasts, finishing up the last of the things that we hadn't yet finished in the game—namely, the Fossil Quarry questline, and the entirety of the Pier of the Unknown DLC. The short story told in the latter was more touching than we expected, and the three of us ended up spending a lot of time afterwards getting a bit philosophical with the characters and ideas presented to us. Afterwards, I knew I wanted to draw something related to the DLC, so I picked one of the beasts that I recorded and used during my trip to Brightside Pier, the Lightning-type Lapacitor! And I'd say I captured the energy of this battery-bunny-thing quite well. Here's hoping there's more content for this wonderful game in the future!

FINALLY beat the final boss in Pier of the Unknown and I want to say: I don't get the hate/mixed liking of the dlc? It's weakspot to me was Gwen suddenly going "I've learned the error of my ways and won't do this anymore" after you beat her. It feels out of left field and just an excuse for why you can come back to the dlc later to collect more beasts.

But that being said the rest of the dlc was really fun! Gwen herself was an interesting ~~frustrating but interesting~~ boss, I love her designs and the commitment to making her feel like a clown (I love how her title is The Ringmistress of Illusion). I think people have overblown how hard the platforming elements are. They're definitely difficult and different than the few platforming puzzles in the base game but they're by no means impossible. I'm genuinely bad at platformers and I was able to get through the quests.

And I LOVE the design of the quests and how unique they all feel and play. The fun house was probably my favorite, all the leaps of faith, the 3d puzzle elements hinting towards Gwen's angelic nature while also just being representative of a fun house's warped architecture. I adore the new beasts they added, especially minor/majortom and my husband might play this game purely to get Charlequin.

All around I thought the dlc was good! I haven't messed with the costume elements it added but they look cute in a vacuum.

Yeah I don't really get the hate, I would love to hear what any of ya'll who don't like the dlc think of it.

i was going to leave it in the tags of a post recommending cassette beasts before i realized it was kinda downer so now its a post. i feel like they could have done more with the romance stuff. its not a dating sim game of course but its just so lackluster to have the option of ok you've hit five hearts with this character do you wanna say the romantic thing? ok twenty minutes later do you wanna date officially? ok you get like one or two more lines of romantic dialogue before this character loops generic one line flavor text forever. and idk im not expecting infinite dialogue here but flavor text forever is just a little sad.

Does anybody know how to refight Umbrahella? I wasnt aware there was anything after the gwenivar fight in the DLC until recently so I only just fought it last night but I fucked up recording it T^T
