Thorki AU where Thor and Loki start a band when they're teens but it's mostly just the two of them because they're messy little fuckers who constantly butt heads and no one can stand to be around them for too long. Somehow, they're still really good and end up getting picked up by a record label and become a hit. This, of course, makes them even messier fuckers and their constant drama makes them an even bigger draw to more people. They manage to find a small team of people who are (mostly) willing to stick it out with them and make a few hit albums and get through a few tours. (They just barely manage to get through them by the skin of their teeth, but still!)

Unfortunately, their latest album hasn't done as well critically or commercially and the tension between Thor and Loki has been at an all time high, which has really made touring unbearable for everyone involved. A particularly rough performance the night before ended up with Loki and Thor getting into a(nother) nasty little ruckus that had their manager calling up the front desk of the hotel with a preemptive "I'm sorry for whatever happens to that suite, we'll pay for the damages, please don't call the cops, thank you."

They show up to the tour bus the next morning and something's... different. Sure, usually after a bad argument they're a bit quiet and sulky until one of them cracks a joke that makes the other laugh and everything's good again until the next shitfit ensues, but this time they're real quiet and avoiding looking at each other(and everyone else) and everyone's getting worried that this might be the fight that finally breaks them up.

Except actually they had an angry fuck after Loki said 'We'Re NoT EvEn ReEeEeAl BrOtHeRs!!?!' for like, the 700th time and Thor was like 'FINE!' and smashed their mouths together. Things Happened and now they're a bit shell shocked and trying to figure how to feel about it. (And trying valiantly to convince themselves It Wasn't That Good.)

I've been thingking about Geto.

Specifically, piano tutor Geto.

He's listening to you play the piece he had picked for you to learn ー Chopin: 24 Prelude Op. 2 No. 4 in E minor. Only one and a half weeks ago he had given you the assingment to practice it. You were a fast learner, he knows that, and that's why you were his favourite.

The way he would tower behind you while observing the way you press the keys of the tuned percussion ever so gently. Making melodies that dance in the air, entrancing to those who listens.

Until you mess up.

One off note and you stopped, only hearing the ticking of the metronome just above you now. The room filled with sudden silence that felt so irritating to you, until the silence was broken by his chuckle. As he leans down next to you, reaching out to flip the music sheet back to the very first page and says "Let's repeat that, shall we?

If Gojo plays the violin, Geto would play the piano to accompany him.

but he would be so sweet, even letting you watch him play. because sometimes you do better when you see it, but that’s a blatant lie — you just want to see his long fingers glide over the keys with such skill that you can’t help but wonder what else those fingers can do—

and when they would play a recital together, you wouldn’t be able to decide who was more beautiful playing their instrument — especially when they played so gracefully. and maybe it was your imagination but why did they both smile just at you?

Hullo musician friends!! Id love some insight! I’m writing up some “tips and tricks” sheets for some of my tutoring students and the current one I’m working on is for sight-reading. 

Other than just practicing sight-reading I’ve tried explaining that what helps me is thinking about an order of importance when you are handed a piece of music and told “play now” because my brain tends to overcomplicate things. For example I make sure to check the key/time signature and the end (D.S/D.C/tag/rit/etc) then my order of importance (TO ME) is the rhythm, the actual notes (minus accidentals (again this is just me but I have to simplify my brain down to “just read the dots” sometimes)), expression marks, dynamics, then everything else if I can think of it. 

BUT I don’t wanna be sharing this with students if it’s a skewed idea of what the majority would rank. 

I know I wanna keep rhythm first because I think it shows a lot of promise if you can hit the rhythms on a first play through. But if anyone has any insight into how you would order the importance of other performance aspects while sight reading (eg. pitch, dynamics, expression marks(articulation/ornamentation/etc), musicality, phrasing, even breath support or tone and shit). Im a brass player but if any non mouth instrument players have rankings like bowing or use of the pedal that would be good to know too. Thanks lads!

Hi folks! If I have any teacher/tutor friends I could use some advice. All of my students (all between ages 10-12) have independently said they have had problems/get confused when like the stems/bars flip (after middle line “B” on the treble staff). For example

I’ve never encountered this problem and I never had this problem when I was learning and I don’t like telling kids to “just practice, you’ll get used to it” I’d like to find something more helpful to say to them. I’ve been saying stuff like ‘what if we try to ignore the bars and just read the dots’ but yeah. If anyone has had a similar experience I’d love to hear it
