#Philodendron painted lady

In other nicer news, it's New Leaf Day today in my household.

My Philo "Painted Lady" made its first mature leaf - as in, it grew out of its own cataphyll. It's also absolutely gorgeous because I gave that plant area some supplemental grow lights and it is loving life now.

My coming home gifts! I don't remember this leaf on my White Wizard and I knew there was one "in production" when I left. It's the first one without the discoloration that I can only find as thrips online but there is absolutely no evidence of them (same with my White Knight, only discoloration; they may have had them when I got them but who knows). My string of buttons shot up again! The Monstera Standleyana Albo's new leaves are looking good. I'm very excited for her growth. Moonlight Philo's new leaf is gorgeous. My Red Moon's leaf is pretty torn but that's okay. The Painted Lady's new leaf unfurled! This is her first new leaf since I brought her home and it was fun to watch although I missed the very end. Mr. White Knight is giving another leaf as well! He has seemed to pick up the pace with his growth. There was a period of time where he wasn't doing much. Way to go! And last but absolutely not least, my White Bird of Paradise with variegation has new growth! First new growth since I brought her home as well. I'm SO excited, even if there is no variegation in this leaf. The addition of the second light seemed to really please my Pink Princess Philodendron, so maybe my BOP will visibility benefit as well 😊

I just found the most beautiful Philodendron "Painted Lady" (Philodendron erubescens) at my local co-op for a steal (still see it mostly for $40-60) and when I brought it home it fit perfectly into the giant red teacup planter that my partner thrifted for us and...that's it. That's how life is supposed to work.

You find a bigger planter than necessary but it's a giant red teacup so you just need to have it. And then you find the perfect plant to go in it.

One thing leads to the other. You just get the feeling that you were supposed to own this plant - like it was just there waiting for you to bring it home.

Photo dump! Shout-out to my philodendron violin! She has simply thrived since I got her. It looks like both Black Cardinals are producing new growth, obviously the one I chopped earlier has grown more. It's SO fulfilling to see a plant do it's thing after not doing it to the point I gotta cut it lol. Close up shot of where that White Princess Mom new leaf was bent. I had to assist the unfurling of this leaf because the circulation was cut off! My painted lady is also producing a new leaf! I feel like I don't know how to properly display her; she is such a wide plant I can't find a good spot for her 😅 Another new leaf coming from my PPP. She is SUCH a beauty, I love her! Without a doubt my largest plant and my pride and joy. The White Wizard is again providing. And lastly but definitely not least, my variegated white birds of paradise. She has not produced any new leaves but has lost several (they were all the oldest ones). I have noticed she has significantly increased in size since I brought her home, so I have that to validate my care haha.
