did u have fun today!!

i had so so so so so much fun today !!!! i went to a warehouse plant sale and then to another garden centre with my best friend (who i dont get to see very often bc we go to different unis and have two jobs each) !!!!!! and she got her first ever plants and i’m helping her learn how to take care of them and !!!!! ahh exciting !!!!! she got a maiden hair fern w a self watering pot, a venus flytrap and a philodendron bc they’re easy first plants. i got myself a philodendron that’s a different leaf to the one i already have, so that i can train it up the opposite site of my desk/ corkboard, an elkhorn fern and a lil babby leafy boy for another pot i had. i really wanted to get a monstera adansonii today (i’ve wanted one for about two years) but thats okay. i was talking to the two lovely people at the garden centre and they’re going to contact me when they get some good healthy ones in !!!!!!!!!! 

can u tell i had the best day im sorry im so happy its 11:30pm now and im drinking tea and cleaning and im so freaking happy and i also got some violin practice in and today was the best in a long time ahhhhhhh

  PHILODENDRON XANADU

This is a common indoor plant that as a distinctive tropical origin. The philodendrons can grow upto 3 feet or 1 meter high. Can grow in low light levels and likes regular watering, especially during warmer weather.

CYCLAMEN – (Primulacae)

This plant comes in a variety of white, pink, or purple flowers. It tends to flower during the cooler months. It likes well-lit areas but not direct sunlight. This plant likes to draw water from the roots so place a saucer under the pot and fill with water to be drawn up by the plant.

PEACE LILY – (Spathiphyllum)

The Peace Lilly plant grows beautiful white flowers with dark glossy foliage and grows about 11 inches or 30 centimeters in height. Suitable for low light conditions such as a bedroom or lounge. Water throughly when it is dry to touch, keep the soil moist

FIDDLE LEAF FIG – (Ficus lyrata)

This larger plant is quite popular and thrives is a well-lit position. The leaves are violin-shaped and should be planted in a large pot. Water regularly during growing season however in winter allow the soil to dry out between drinks.

PHALAENOPSIS ORCHID

Beautiful flowers come in a wide range of colors. The flowers can last for upto 3 months from one bud. This plant likes a bright well lit area but not in the in direct sunlight. Plant in well drained potting mix and water weekly.

AIR PLANT – (Tillandsia)

This unique plant is perfect for terrariums as they draw nutrients from moisture in the air so they do not need soil. Grows well in a bright spot out of direct sunlight.

LUCKY BAMBOO – (Dracaena)

A very popular desk plant with curly stems and green leaves. They are quite hardy and can grow upto 3 feet or 1 meter high. They can be grown in a jar of water or potting mix. Grows well in low light.

ANTHURIUM

The Anthurium has lovely large red flowers with broad green leaves. Grow in a bright position with good sunlight. Be careful not to over water, use a good draining potting mix and water only when soil is dry to touch.

ZANZIBAR GEM – (Zamioculcas zamifolia)

The Zanzibar has long succulent stems and shiny, waxy leaves that mimic a palm. It is a very low maintenance plant that can grow in low light levels. It is quite hardy and can survive a long time without watering.

  CALATHEA

The Calathea Colorful patterned foliage of pale green with dark green spots and lines make this a very attractive small indoor plant. It grows best in mid-light and should be kept moist with regular watering in summer months.

Hello Philodendron Violin 😍

I took the day off today to spend a few hours with someone I am entirely in love with, although I shouldn't be, and then went to the nursery!

There were a lot of beautiful plants, including a Ring of Fire that had a fully variegated leaf. Although I always look at the ROF, I never take one home. I even picked that one up and carried it around the rest of the nursery before putting her back. I've been really wanting to find a variegated Florida Beauty...but honestly I am happy to finally be a musician 🎻

Photo dump! Shout-out to my philodendron violin! She has simply thrived since I got her. It looks like both Black Cardinals are producing new growth, obviously the one I chopped earlier has grown more. It's SO fulfilling to see a plant do it's thing after not doing it to the point I gotta cut it lol. Close up shot of where that White Princess Mom new leaf was bent. I had to assist the unfurling of this leaf because the circulation was cut off! My painted lady is also producing a new leaf! I feel like I don't know how to properly display her; she is such a wide plant I can't find a good spot for her 😅 Another new leaf coming from my PPP. She is SUCH a beauty, I love her! Without a doubt my largest plant and my pride and joy. The White Wizard is again providing. And lastly but definitely not least, my variegated white birds of paradise. She has not produced any new leaves but has lost several (they were all the oldest ones). I have noticed she has significantly increased in size since I brought her home, so I have that to validate my care haha.
