just watched COPA 71, a documentary about the "lost" women's world cup- teams from england, italy, argentina, denmark, mexico, and france competed in front of 110k people in azteca stadium, 20 years before the first fifa-approved women's tournament. it's still the highest-attendance women's sporting event ever, and it got buried and forgotten because fifa threw a tantrum about girls playing soccer. absolutely wild.
