I’m gonna piggyback off this and also add:
If you’re worried about the photo lines or autopgraph lines and Charlie not having enough time to get to everyone. He will. He MAKE THE TIME. I’ve seen it twice now (went to MegaCon back in March) and heard of it at other cons; Charlie stays until he can get to every last fan. At mega con he himself pushed back his breaks and lunches and made sure to get every person who paid for his stuff or who even wanted to meet him.
He really is so so immensely kindhearted and genuine, he is truly engaging and is so so happy to hear what fans tell him. He even said it in the panel, he loves hearing what Daredevil means to fans, what his role as Matt Murdock means to fans. And he is so truly grateful that all these fans helped save Daredevil in the first place. Yes, he’s so kind and sweet and the nicest person, but I think this is how he feels he can give some of his gratitude back to the fans. People gave him friendship bracelets (my theory is those were also T. Swifts haha) and he wore them the whole time. He doesn’t rush through through the autograph line (photos are quick cuz they have to be but even then he makes sure to greet you by name and thanks YOU)
And some con tips in case this is your first one: bring a portable charger or your cord. Bring snacks and water. Meds too if you need to take them. Maybe order a little foldable stool to bring so you can pop it open and sit while waiting lol.
Pasta! I'm so happy you got to meet charlie!!!! We need a play by play of every interaction!!!! I'm going to meet him in a month and I'm so excited and scared haha
I wrote some play-by-plays and posted about our interactions so those are up now! And I can honestly say he is, without a doubt, the kindest, warmest, and most wonderful actor or celeb I've met. I was so, so nervous to meet him as @wonderlandmind4 can confirm. He's my favorite actor, who played what became my favorite character ever, and whose work quite literally changed the course of my life (since his portrayal of DD led to TRT which has snowballed into this massive thing, on top of how seeing Matt's struggle helped me process a lot of heavy stuff I struggled with). On top of that, I wanted to ask him to hold the red thread for our photo and I wasn't entirely sure he'd be down for that, AND I wanted to mention at the autograph how much his portrayal of Matt had helped me. And my anxiety levels were off the charts.
But he made it so, so easy to talk to him, to ask him to hold the thread or do other fun things for photo ops, and to interact with him. I've never seen anyone at events like this engage as easily, as happily, and as warmly as he does. He wants to talk with you, and hear what you have to say. He's genuinely happy to see you and sign things and for you to show him cool DD things (@intricate-melody got to show him her stunning DD tattoo and he signed her arm!). He cares about what you have to say, and his big smile when you come up to him is so kind that you just feel like this weight is off your shoulders, because he's so happy you're there, and that just... makes you feel more confident. Because when someone's happy to see you, so happy they get those little crinkles around their eyes, well, it's a lot easier to talk to them.
So from someone who was CRAZY nervous about meeting Charlie, I can tell you - you're going to have an absolutely AMAZING time meeting him. ❤️

The Philly Comics Expo is this weekend. I'm looking forward to it, it promises to be a bigger event than previous years, with more guests than previous years, a new indoor location, and many of them traveling great distances to attend. I hope that you are able to attend, if you live in Philadelphia or the surrounding area. I look forward to seeing a few friends I haven't seen for a few years. As ever, the show is being put on by my friends who run the comic shop Partners And Son, who recently released a new comic book by Charles Burns, Unwholesome Love, which the show will present another opportunity for you to purchase.
A few days after the fest, I will be undergoing eye surgery, and will be out of commission for a few weeks while I recover. Even assuming recovery will go smoothly, I will be unable to read any comics, texts, or online posts. I will have a friend staying with me and taking care of me. I will have stitches in my eye, and so will not be able to exert myself lest I burst the stitches, and this is using a definition of exertion which includes such things I take for granted as "shopping for groceries." I am more grateful for that offer of help than I am going to get into now, when I am just explaining that I am going to be much more difficult to reach (except by telephone call) than I am now, and that I don't wish to bum out my friends at the fest by running through all of this in casual show-conversation. I just want you to know that when I say "hope to see you at the show!" or any variant on that idea it is with a certain irony and gallows humor I otherwise will not want to explain. And if I don't buy your book it is because I am trying to save money, because I will be unable to work for a few months, and my dayjob is substitute teaching, which means I didn't work all Summer either. If you give me a comic, I will hopefully be able to read it a few weeks out, and if it is even remotely good, I will cherish the experience to an upsetting degree.

I wanted to post some updates regarding the future of No More Mermaids.
I announced this elsewhere but No More Mermaids is officially coming to an end. The plan was to do another ten chapters but I'm cutting it down to three, possibly four. The next chapter is about 70% done. The goal is to have the series done by next summer but knowing how unpredictable things can get, I wouldn't be surprised if I was still drawing chapters well into 2026. Regardless, we are in the home stretch. The final chapter has been scripted and I've already drawn a few pages. Hooray!
The third volume is still in the works. I actually had copies printed out last year but I wasn't happy with the quality, so I'm having a friend do revisions for me. I'm hoping to have it finished in time for the Philly Comics Expo in October. The third volume will include updated (and uncensored) versions of chapters 12 through 15. The fourth and final volume will follow sometime later, probably late 2025 or early 2026.
I'm pretty much done with Tapas. Between the censorship, shadow banning, lack of engagement and other issues, I don't think it's worth hosting my comic on there anymore. The plan is to upload one more chapter but I'll probably just draw a goodbye for subscribers. Regardless of what I decide to do, the last chapters will be print only. The censored version of No More Mermaids will remain online until further notice. I'm not sure if I'll seek out another web host in the future. I'll make a decision whenever the series is complete.
Just to clarify: I'm not done making comics, just done with this comic. When I started No More Mermaids, I was single, working part-time and had a lot of free time on my hands. All of that has changed over the course of seven years. What started out as a passion project has slowly become an obligation. I'm very proud of this series but I'm ready to move on. I would like to focus on other projects, like more short comics or zines. I've also felt very guilty creating "sad boy comics" when I'm much happier nowadays and have a wonderful boyfriend I come home to everyday. I'm also just exhausted of all the hurdles I've had to jump with this series. It's given me a lot of trouble over the years. I want to move on.
I know I say this a lot but thank you all for the support over the years. I met some incredible people along this journey and I'm very proud of myself for sticking with it through the years. Since it is an autobiographical work, I can always revisit it too.
Anyways, please look forward to the upcoming finale of No More Mermaids.

Anyway here’s my haul from Fan Expo Philly 2024!
Signed posters by Tom Grummet and Francis Manapul. (Yes I also own both of these comics. No I did not bring them to get signed. Yes I DO feel bad about it. I am a fool. Especially for Tom Grummet oh MY GOD)
Met Ms Frizzle and she gave me this adorable bookmark! It has a ruler on the other side!
Picked up a bunch of adorable stickers from Tumblrs own @ashourii-a !! They’re so cute I can’t wait to find where I want to put them!
I commissioned Keith Williams to do a bust portrait of Black Canary (as is my wont) and OH MY GOD look how awesome this is!!!
I met Geoff Johns and got the first two appearances of Courtney Whitmore signed. Yes I was emotional about it haha. He was super nice and so was his family who were also at the booth at the time.
I also met and had a photo session with Adam Savage. He was absolutely phenomenal!!! The next day I did go and get this signed (as well as two other signatures for friends and family) and he was just so phenomenal to talk to. We had a long discussion about custom mold body forms haha. It’s very unfortunate my wig was slipping when this photo was taken but fuck it lmao. It was amazing to get to walk around as Yurika. If I meet him again though I’ll try and have a photo taken as myself.
The Ultimate Pass I purchased also came with some freebies: a big Batman bag, an exclusive variant of Tec 27, a Batman and Superman poster, as well as a really cute Marty Mcfly figure.
#I also picked up a print of Stargirl but I can’t remember who did it ????#he recognized that I was cosplaying as Stargirl and really shilled it to me Lmfaoo#I’ll have to see if I can’t find any art pages of his so I can credit him#mine#cheese owns things
