The Impending Destruction of the Philippine Sea
The Philippine Archipelago is surrounded by a vast body of water that is rich with various minerals, pristine coral reefs, and diverse marine animals. The position of the Philippines directed to the equator helps to produce rich and prolific oceans. Coincide with these numerous resources, the progression growth of humanity, and the increasing population. Hence, the demand for resources heightened to conquer the problems created by the people. The marine ecosystem faces a great deal of dilemmas, struggling to sustain the needs of the people living on earth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Atom Araullo's "Philippine Seas" documentary, he highlighted the alarming condition of the fisheries in Saranggani General Santos. He discovered the decreasing population size of Tuna fish witnessed by the Filipino fishermen who took 4-10 days and traveled 6-10 hours just to get a single tuna fish. One of the reasons behind this phenomenon is the ample number of fishermen gathered in the same area, showing the less capturing spots in the ocean. Around the year 2010 to 2017, 21,000 wildlife were confiscated, the poached fish were primarily sharks because of the immense demand of their fins in foreign countries. The Coron Palawan recorded high statistics of illegal poacher that ruins the living organisms below the sea. However, they are not the only ones who harm the environment, localities are no exception because most of them use illegal ways such as dynamite fishing, use of cyanides, etc. It contributes to the destruction of coral reefs, and polluted water, which if we look in the long run, everyone was subjected to this irreversible damage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To sum up, uncontrolled and unlawful fishing causes a wide-range impact on marine wildlife. The expansion of the human population and their extensive needs is the root and top reason for this instance. It is essential that we acknowledge the importance of our ocean resources and their role in producing food and keeping us alive. Overusing and the irresponsible management of the ocean profusion might result in irredeemable consequences that soon knock us.

The Philippines also has many islands, i.e. 7500 islands. The Philippines has categorised under three geographical divisions, for example, Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao etc. This country has so many destinations to choose from, just set your goals and get ready for fun. From almost 7500 islands, only 2000 islands are inhabited, and the other 5000 islands are not yet named.

Aircraft trails above Task Force 58 during the Battle of the Philippine Sea, 19 June 1944; photographed from aboard the light cruiser Birmingham.
The Battle of the Philippine Sea was a naval battle fought between the Imperial Japanese Navy and the United States Navy during World War II. The battle took place on June 19-20, 1944, in the Philippine Sea, near the Mariana Islands. The battle was the largest carrier-to-carrier battle in history, and it resulted in a significant victory for the United States.
The Japanese had planned to use the battle to prevent the United States from invading the Mariana Islands and to destroy the American carrier fleet. However, the United States had intercepted Japanese communication and was aware of their plans. As a result, the United States had assembled a massive fleet of carriers, battleships, and cruisers to engage the Japanese.
The battle began with a massive air strike by the United States carriers, which destroyed many Japanese planes on the ground and in the air. The Japanese launched a counterattack, but it was poorly coordinated, and their planes were no match for the superior American pilots and planes. The Japanese lost three carriers and over 400 planes, while the United States only lost 130 planes.
The battle marked a turning point in the Pacific War, as the Japanese lost much of their carrier-based airpower and could no longer launch significant offensive operations. The victory at the Battle of the Philippine Sea allowed the United States to proceed with their plan to invade the Mariana Islands, which ultimately led to the end of the war.

Escape with Waves: Why Ferries are the Perfect Fit for Philippine Waters
Tumblr media
With over 7, 640 islands, the Philippines is an archipelagic country that has many ways to travel its popular attractions and wonders through air, land, and sea. For tourists traveling the Philippines, it is likely that they would use multiple modes of transportation to reach their destination. However, if you ask me what is the best way to get around the country, my answer would be traveling by sea. Traversing through waters than booking an air ticket has its inherent charms and could turn out to be a lot more fun than looking at a window above the sky.
But what is the best sea transport to travel around and fit for the Philippines? Since the country is separated by different islands and is connected by the major islands of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, it is necessary to have inter-island connectivity to facilitate tourism movement as well as domestic trade within the country. Consequently, it has been achieved with the development of the Philippine Nautical Highway System by utilizing the ferries.
Tumblr media
Passenger Ferry of Oceanjet
Growing up, I experienced riding a ferry from the Visayas to Luzon to spend my vacation, and with this experience, I have seen how ferries became an integral part, not only bringing goods but also allowing tourists to travel from one island to another. Different types of vehicles, such as cars and cargo vehicles,  are able to save much time and money as they can be transported across bodies of water that would take hours to reach their destination. Moreover, if a tourist has more time and wants to enjoy his/her travel journey, the best option to get around is to buy a ticket and ride a ferry to cherish the majestic natural wonders of the country.
Tumblr media
According to Ports & Ferries, there are two types of ferries available in the country which a passenger can choose depending on the value that he/she is looking for and whether he/she is traveling with a vehicle. The first one is the fast craft or passenger-only ferry, a small and travels a lot faster than a RORO but do not allow vehicle transport. The second type, on the other hand, is the roll-on-roll-off (RORO), a large ferry that can transport both passengers and vehicles that can run short to medium routes. In addition, another question that a passenger may ask is how long does a ferry ride take? Depending on the route and the type of ferry a tourist rides, it may take from an hour to almost 45 hours long to reach his/her destination port and so passengers can eat and sleep inside the ferry.
Tumblr media
Economy Seat Ferry of Oceanjet Aside from that, for sure, many would also ask where they can book or buy a ticket for ferries. Worry not because ferries operate on a regular schedule. Tickets are available through ticketing and travel agents or at the pier. Passengers may also book online and check the routes and available schedule by browsing the website of the major players in the Philippine Ferry transport, namely 2GO Travel, Montenegro Lines, Cokaliong Shipping Lines, Trans-Asia Shipping Lines, and Oceanjet.
Ferries, through passenger-only ferries and RoRo, allow the population to have greater mobility and create more trading and work opportunities. However, sea accidents or mishaps happen every year due to overcrowded, overloaded, old, poorly designed, and ill-maintained shipping vessels, according to Southwest Maritime Group of Companies president and CEO Arben Santos. With this in mind, shipping companies must embark to modernize their fleet because the safety of their passengers is non-negotiable and it is imperative for the government to continuously improve the sea transportation system to encourage tourism movement and stimulate economic growth in the various provinces of the Philippines.
Tumblr media
Therefore, ferries are instrumental to link the thousands of islands as they significantly help the country’s economy by transporting goods and enhancing tourists and passengers alike to access and enjoy the prime tourist destinations all over the Philippines. But for anyone who wants to have a unique escape with waves in the Philippines, always bear in mind that when traveling, always choose the option that is more convenient, safe, and gives you the best value for your money!

The day was overcast and a bit windy. A cloudburst just finished. We checked in to O’s Landing and I thought this was such a beautiful sight! It’s worthy to be painted. The sea is almost silver in color. I have never thought the sea can be that color. This is one of those moments when I really wish I am a painter. I did the only thing I can do. I took a photo. #oslanding #surigao #britaniasurigao #mindanao #philippines #itsmorefuninthephilippines #mytravels #travelgirls #familytravel #maturetravellers #familytravelblog #travelphotography #travelblogger #travelgram #travelholic #travelling #sea #philippinesea #girlswhotravel #traveldames #wanderlust #wanderer #bakasyon #vacaymode #vacayvibes #vacaystyle #laagan #pinayontheroad https://www.instagram.com/p/B2IdYGFB_Ng/?igshid=bpjsy50ntm2y
