Haven’t they tried giving Peter facial hair before? I feel like I remember seeing a comic panel on Tumblr a while back and going, “Why is Tony Stark talking to MJ?” Then I read the dialogue and it was Peter and I was like. “The fuck.”

he had a goatee in the spider-girl series about his daughter. which i personally disagree with. vehemently!

i don't know why as soon as peter has kids he decides to have facial hair. do you have to have facial hair once you become a dad? is that a law? i resent that.

“Peter’s opinions are very definite, but he doesn’t have a closed mind; he’ll listen to someone else’s opinion. He’s into the Eastern thing — God is within you, the great oneness of man, the universal cosmic energy that exists, and so on.
 He’s in sympathy with the meditation thing, although he himself doesn’t actually meditate. He’s against the war in Vietnam and doesn’t approve of the economic excesses and cut-throat business attitudes so obvious in America today (and other countries too, for that matter). He has an almost naive belief in the basic goodness of his fellow man (a trait which hasn’t changed one iota through the years), and he thinks there is hope for everyone. […] Peter isn’t as happy as he could be, but he’s relatively content. He’s working at things he likes and feeling creative about what’s going on. He has the freedom to do all the things he wanted to do years ago, such as producing records and making movies and getting into artistic things that are expensive to do. At present he is producing his own songs and tracks for the next Monkee album, starting a movie production company and a recording company, and going into management for old friends who have a lot of talent but who never got out in front. Peter doesn’t regret being a Monkee, but he regards his experiences objectively. He realizes that he has learned a great deal about film and television and recording, all the things that would take so many years and dollars to learn normally — without the sudden fame and fortune. His strongest desire is to be a record producer; music is more to him than acting, although he digs acting. Peter once told me that it’s impossible to ‘categorize’ things like actor, musician, etc. ‘It’s all the same, everything overlaps,’ he said. ‘An actor has to know rhythm and timing. A musician must be able to interpret, to communicate. Minthara, reaching up to close her hand along the back of @menzoberras's neck before she starts to fix his hair in places. Then turns her eye down and starts to pluck dirt and specks of dust from his shoulders. After a moment of inspection she touches his cheek and leans inward to properly gauge the area where the facial hair liked to come in each morning upon their waking. A thumb continues to move and press into his jaw and slides up toward his eye as if to chase out a single prickle of hair threatening to break the skin. Then she huffs and relents with the grasp on the sides of his head with both hands and pulls him down gently.

"You are absolutely unkempt, my darling."

1) I think other people other than Miguel also deserve spider-fangs. The type varies based on how they got their powers, but most, if not all, spider-people are venomous, and about half of them have some sort of retractable aspects to their fangs.

2) Structural colors! Spider-people get fun colors in some parts of their hair where the follicle shifts to refract light instead of containing pigment (based on the fact that spiders can come in many fun colors and not just. Brown. Red. Black. etc). There may be just a touch of iridescence going on in the UV spectrum, but the structural streaks at least reflect light weirdly if you can see UV. However, this mutation doesn’t occur until adulthood, so technically Miles and probably Anya are too young to manifest it yet. Peter dyes his hair compulsively to hide it, because he insists it would be out of character for him to do something so hipster.

3) Based on wolf-spider reflectiveness, spider-people have a type of tapetum lucidum, although the eye-shine color is a lot more varied. Actual acuity of their vision can vary, but jumping spider based acuity (and resulting lack of peripheral vision) is not uncommon. Additionally, they can see in the ultraviolet spectrum.

Bonus: Felicia has feline attributes, including fangs and a tapetum lucidum (and, at least, the ability to see light in the ultraviolet spectrum). Her hair is technically plain white, but has some mild but visible iridescence in the UV spectrum
