Teil J - Der Fluch der Sheldon Street

Alles beginnt mit dem Kauf eines alten Projektors und der Entdeckung einer kleinen Super-8-Filmrolle. Als die drei Detektive das Fundstück begutachten, entdecken sie die verstörende Aufnahme einer albtraumhaften Gestalt. Schnell stellen die drei ??? fest, dass es um weit mehr geht, als sie zunächst ahnen: Eine ganze Straße scheint unter dem Bann eines düsteren Geheimnisses zu stehen. Je intensiver sie sich mit dem Fall beschäftigen, umso klarer scheint, dass ihnen nur wenige Stunden bleiben, um am unheilvollen Freitag den 13. Schlimmeres zu verhindern…

Teil P - Fremder Freund

Peter schwebt im siebten Himmel, denn er hat in einem Café Bekanntschaft mit einem großen Fan der drei ??? gemacht. Er wird sogar um ein Autogramm gebeten. Stolz und gut gelaunt verbringt Peter einen tollen Tag mit seinen Freunden, und alles wäre einfach perfekt, wenn er nicht plötzlich diese seltsamen Telefonanrufe und mysteriösen Briefe erhalten würde. Die drei Detektive werden heimlich beobachtet und sogar von einem Unbekannten fotografiert! Was soll das alles? Wer ist dieser seltsame Verfolger? Ist Peters Leben in Gefahr?

Postleitzahlen in Rocky Beach setze ich grundsätzlich nach Santa Monica.

1979 als Gründungsjahr, obviously, aber nachdem die drei im Comic Ende der 90er 40 werden würde es passen, dass Justus mit Anfang 20 den Laden gegründet hat (auch wenn ich denke, dass es vielleicht erst später war)

Für das allgemeine Design habe ich mich an dem Ladenschild orientiert. Dabei ist mir auch aufgefallen, dass im Graphic Novel auf einer Seite "vintage crime books" und auf einer nur "vintage books" steht hihi

Peter

Mit Peter habe ich mir vom Design tatsächlich am schwersten getan, aber dazu später.

Der Firmenname und die Anlehnung an das Logo sind auch dem Buch entnommen. Genau wird ja nicht spezifiziert, was Peter macht, aber ich schätze mal Versicherungsdetektiv kommt dem schon am nächsten? Ich habe ihm einen Titel gegeben, weil er eine successful bitch ist. Und anscheinend hat man bei der Versicherung oft mindestens eine Accounting Ausbildung und ein Spezialgebiet. Da Peter ja in einem Brandfall, also habe ich ihm einen Professional Engineer verliehen, den Peter in der Abendschule gemacht hat maybe um seiner Ehe zu entfliehen.

Die Sunrise Road ist natürlich an die Adresse des Schrottplatzes angelehnt. 2110 -> 2 = B 1 = A 10 = J

Postleitzahl liegt in Phoenix.

Die Telefonnummer ist eine Vorwahl in Phoenix plus die ISBN von RBEI, bei Fax habe ich halt einfach die "Durchwahl" angepasst.

Bei der Recherche habe ich außerdem Visitenkarten gesehen, die eine Telex Nr hatten, das ist wohl so eine Mischung aus Fax und Pager? Die vordere Nummer ... ich hab literally vergessen warum ich die genommen habe, aber sie ist anders als in der Inspiration die ich benutzt habe. jfc. Jedenfalls steht das PMPS natürlich für Para Mutual Peter Shaw

RE: Design ich hab ganz viele 90s Designs gegooglet, 90er Musik gehört und es hat gefruchtet. Der erste Entwurf für Peter sah nämlich so aus

Mag ich auch, aber ich fand vor allem das Logo einfach zu Modern. Hier ist aber das Logo viel näher dran an dem Graphic Novel

Bob

Bei Bob habe ich auch lange überlegt - ich glaube, er ist bekannt und reich genug, dass er nicht einfach so seine Adresse rausgibt. Und da er in meinem Kopf in RBEI sehr privat ist nimmt er das gern als ausrede jegliche Kommunikation auf sein management abzuwälzen

Circle of Confusion ist eine der renommiertesten Management-Agenturen für Drehbuchautoren. Inzwischen heißen die nur noch Confusion und eigentlich gibt es die auch erst seit den frühen 2000ern aber jetzt noch nach großen Agenturen aus den 90ern zu suchen war mir zu viel. Ich hab einmal versucht herauszufinden, wie viel man für eine Taxifahrt in den 90ern in LA bezahlt hat. unmöglich.

Phyllis Stein habe ich mir aus Hedwig and the Angry Inch ausgeliehen. Das ist Hedwigs Managerin und Bobs Managerin hat mich irgendwie sehr an sie erinnert. Ich hoffe, er hat ihr doch noch Champagner gekauft.

Die 1619 steht für 16 = P 19 = S und den Crenshaw Boulevard gibt es wirklich in LA. Wisst ihr, was dort ist? Space X. Ja.

Die PLZ ist wieder LA, und die Nummer von Bobs Agentin ist die LA-Vorwahl + das Erscheinungsdatum von RBEI.

Natürlich ist Bobs Karte rot und hat schön viel Platz um eine Privatnummer oder Adresse draufzukritzeln ;)

Gedanken meinerseits zu die drei ???

Falls die drei sich je fürs College oder so trennen müssten, gibt es zwei Optionen:

1. sehr dramatische Situation, viele Tränen, viel Depression, viel alles, sie gehen zu dritt zur Therapie für mehrere Termine, löst sich freundlich und einigermaßen gut

2. auch Drama, Streit, Schuldgefühle, schlechte Kommunikation und die ganzen schlechten Seiten von deren basically co-dependency, reden vllt für eine längere Zeit nicht

In beiden fällen gibt es deren weirde co-dependence aber in einem Fall klären sie dies bevor es zum brechpunkt wird (weil co-dependency nicht healthy ist auf langzeit)

Am realistischsten ist es aber sowieso dass die ne WG machen und zumindest in der gleichen Stadt College/Arbeit haben (finde ich zumindest). Aber auch da müssen sie natürlich irgendwann ihre Probleme ansprechen 🤷🏻

Noch ein Gedanke

Habe die Rewe Edition Die drei ??? Bücher gelesen, welche jetzt nicht super charakterisieren aber

Man hätte zum Treffen zwischen Peter und Jeffrey auch Verabredung oder halt Treffen sagen können aber es wurde explizit das Wort Date genutzt

Ich spreche nur das aus was auf den Seiten steht (don’t boo me, im right)

Weiß aber auch nicht wie Canon diese Bücher sind . But still they exist with very queer undertones✋🏻

Und auch zu den Editionen: ich liebe Ellen, sie taucht zwar nur kurz auf aber sie ist so relatable . Sehr viel Liebe an Ellen und an Mandy die drei Sätze hatte und im Customer Service arbeitet, es ist nicht einfach🫶

Zur Erklärung. Ich mag das Ship eigentlich schon echt gerne. Es ist nur so ein Ship wo ich eher nur meine eigenen Fics schreiben, aber weniger lesen würde. (Würde sie natürlich trotzdem lesen, weil es so gut wie keine DDA fics generell gibt, aber wenn’s ein größeres Fandom wäre und es mehr fics insgesamt gäbe würde ich’s es vermutlich eher wenig lesen. Also alles hypothetisch) Kombinationen wie Kim/Franzie und Kim/Marie mag ich einfach im Vergleich mehr. Aber Kim, Franzie und Marie funktionieren insgesamt am besten als Triad für mich. (Vielleicht so ein wenig vergleichbar wie’s mir mit den DDF Ships zwischen den drei Hauptcharakteren geht haha.)

I sincerely believe the question is more “what DON’T I like”!

Alright this is a fun way to spend my Friday night in after walking 8 miles today and then doing dinner with friends ahahah so 1. Thank you for this and 2. Let’s go through this point by point:

1. What do I like? Man… I like a lot of music. I’ve gone through phases in my life: I was raised on my dad’s love of 80s/90s rock (think INXS, U2, Melissa Etheridge, Peter Gabriel), I discovered KISS FM in middle school and was a fiend for Top 50 pop then (the pussycat dolls were my everything back then lol isn’t it hilarious that I didn’t figure out I was gay until my 20s. also timbaland was consistently on my favorite songs.)

then in seventh grade I did a heel turn and got really into metal after my older cousin lent me his iPod at thanksgiving (I really liked Disturbed’s album Ten Thousand Fists)... then within the same year I did an even MORE hilarious, second heel turn and discovered K-pop, which I lived & breathed for like two years (my favorite band was SHINee; I still sometimes pop into the K-pop world to sample what’s coming out these days, though I don’t know the new generation of bands well).

THEN in high school the indie alt pop phenomenon hit and I was all in on the bands of the time… bastille, alt j, the 1975 (before they really blew up, #hipster), glass animals, lorde, walk the moon, chvrches, x ambassadors, the naked and the famous, halsey, grouplove, milky chance… like, if it was on tumblr, I was listening to it, hahaha.

Then in college I got really into alternative music, like chelsea wolfe and susanne sundfør and son lux and ms mr.

In adulthood I find that all this musical influence has meant that I like all kinds of music. I like trashy pop country. I like heavy rock. I like top 50 pop. I like rap. I like hyperpop. I like 80s synth pop. I like indie folk. I like it all, man. I have been in a pretty heavy rock era for the last, like… four, five years, though, so I think I probably primarily register as a rock listener, and if we were to get even more granular, I really love guitar-forward rock.

2. I’m a HUGE user of playlists. Spotify is the only streaming service I pay for, and I’ll pay for it for many many years, I imagine, haha.

I have over 100 playlists on there and really enjoy curating them as a little art form for myself. I rarely listen to albums, which I kind of think is too bad, because I DO think the album ~as a cohesive piece of art~ is kind of becoming a lost art in the age of streaming, and I’m not helping the cause at all.

But, on the flip side, playlist curation is a really enjoyable form of curatorial art, imo, and I deeply love and appreciate it. I love making playlists for anything and everything. One of my favorite playlist I’ve ever made is actually a reylo playlist, lol. I also made a killer Batman playlist after seeing rpattz’s batman, and I have some good old check please playlists as well. Fun fun stuff.

3. This is HARD but okay, I can do this…

Since three of those are rock/rockish offshoots (I am who I am, sorry), I’ll give you a few more divergent others:

house would be “Derezzed” by Daft Punk

disco would be “You Win Again” by The Bee Gees [my dad loves disco lol so… so do I]

country would be any and all Orville Peck [though normally my country tastes veer WAY WAY WAY trashy country pop lol sorry but it’s catchy]

and my pop pick is obviously Most Perfect Pop Song Of All Time, “Lonely Dancers” by Conan Gray

4. The genre I listen the least to is R&B, probably. I wasn’t raised listening to it and I’ve never really gained a taste for it, even though other genres I wasn’t raised listening to (country and rap, for example) DID grow on me. That being said, I really enjoy THEY., who is technically categorized as R&B.

Like I said earlier, I was really raised on rock music and I think that foundationally I am just a Rock Music Kinda Gal. I love guitars so much, man. But a close second is probably pop. Just as I was created to love guitars, so too was I created to love synths.

5. What makes an album “fascinating”? 🤔 I think this is hard, because first and foremost I am not an album listener, but also I don’t think I examine my music through a critical lens of fascination. I usually operate on a pure “how-much-straight-up-dopamine-is-being-poured-into-my-system?” scale when it comes to music, haha. Like, I’m not even primarily a listener of lyrics. I pay attention to the music first.

That being said…

Album 01 is going to be “Strange Trails” by Lord Huron. To be very, very annoying: I was into Lord Huron since their first album, and when they blew up due to a song from "Strange Trails" getting included in the TV show 13 Reasons Why, I was very annoyed because I think their sonic output shifted, and for the worse.

Anyways, I maintain that their first two albums are as close to perfect as albums get, and “Strange Trails” is what I find to be their strongest narrative album. There’s a whole storyline through the album that follows a fictional character Ben, the frontman, created. There was a comic book to accompany the album too, and I think the storyline is very lovely and I love some tragic love and magic wrapped into my music:) My favorite song off of “Strange Trails” is “Fool for Love.”

Album 02 is going to be “Bad Blood” by Bastille, which I also find to be Bastille’s finest work. Dan Smith wrote all these songs by himself in his den and—I really believe—perfectly embodied and channeled the sound of the 2010s indie moment. The entire album is so strong, and not only is it so strong that it doesn’t have any skips… even the EXTENDED version, “All This Bad Blood,” has no skips. Whatever Dan was fermenting in the lead up to “Bad Blood”’s release, it was pure gold. Nothing else quite captures the feeling of it being 2012 as much as this album. My favorite song off off “Bad Blood” is “Icarus” <3

Album 03 is going to be “Dream Machine” by Des Rocs. Des is on a one-man cocaine-fueled mission from God to bring back hard glam rock and I sincerely could not support his mission more. He constantly churns out bangers (his EPs “Martyr Parade” and “Let the Vultures In” are also worth checking out) but I found his songwriting to be simply ~exceptional~ on “Dream Machine.” I think he’s wonderful at writing evocative, classic-rock inspired lyrics that read as poetry to me:) From “Natural Born Thriller”:

Like MAN... that’s poetry in action to me. That’s just good writing. I also find the lyrics and storytelling of “In the Night” fantastic, and “Dream Machine” is such a perfect tone-setting, atmosphere-building track for that album to open on. It’s just one of the best constructed albums I’ve heard, full of bangers. My favorite song off it is probably “Natural Born Thriller.”

Damn that took me like two hours to get through, mostly because I got to experience the joy of scrolling through all my music and painfully selecting a few. This was delightful. Thank you, anon!

Blixa Bargeld (heute im Jahr 1959 geboren), Deutscher Musiker

Blixa Bargeld (* 12. Januar 1959 in West-Berlin als Hans-Christian Emmerich) ist ein deutscher Musiker, Performance-Künstler, Komponist, Autor und Schauspieler. Er ist Frontmann der Band Einstürzende Neubauten und Gründungsmitglied der Band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, in der er bis 2003 als Gitarrist tätig war. Sein Pseudonym ist eine Reverenz an den dadaistischen Künstler Johannes Theodor Baargeld. Der Vorname stammt von einer Faserstiftmarke. Nachdem seine Frau Erin ihren Nachnamen offiziell von Zhu in den Künstlernamen Bargeld hatte ändern lassen, übernahm er diesen und heißt seither bürgerlich Christian Bargeld, verwendet aber öffentlich ausschließlich den Künstlervornamen Blixa. Bargeld wuchs im westlichen Teil Berlins auf, wo er im Ortsteil Friedenau das Paul-Natorp-Gymnasium besuchte. 1980 wurde er als Gründer und Sänger der Gruppe Einstürzende Neubauten bekannt. Von 1984 bis 2003 war er Gitarrist der Band Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds. Er galt auch als Mitorganisator des Festivals Genialer Dilletanten. Darüber hinaus veröffentlichte er zwei Soloalben. 1987 trat er als Mitglied von Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds in Wim Wenders’ Film Der Himmel über Berlin auf. 1988 spielte er in dem Spielfilm Nihil, oder alle Zeit der Welt von Uli M Schueppel eine erste Hauptrolle. Ende der 1990er Jahre spielte er einen pyromanischen Sadisten in einem RTL-Krimi mit Iris Berben. Weiterhin war er 1996 im Film Die totale Therapie in einer Hauptrolle als Psychotherapie-Guru zu sehen.

1996 entstand der Kurzfilm Blixa Bargeld Stole My Cowboy Boots mit Michael Imperioli in der Hauptrolle, in dem Bargeld allerdings nicht selbst auftrat. 1999 wurde Bargeld für den US-Spielfilm Die Mumie verpflichtet. In dem Film hat er als Teil des „sound-designs“ das „mummy growling“ übernommen, ist also für die Mumien-Äußerungen (Schreien, Zischen usw.) verantwortlich. Bargeld war auch in Werbespots für die Baumarktkette Hornbach tätig. 1990 führte er zusammen mit Wolfgang Rindfleisch Regie für das Hörspiel Hamletmaschine, basierend auf Heiner Müllers Stück Die Hamletmaschine, mit Regieanweisungen gesprochen von Heiner Müller, Ophelia: Gudrun Gut, Musik: Einstürzende Neubauten (Bargeld, Einheit, Unruh, Hacke, Chung).

Bargeld war an Theaterprojekten von Heiner Müller, Werner Schwab und Peter Zadek beteiligt. Seit Mitte der 1990er Jahre tritt Bargeld auch als Solokünstler mit den so genannten Rede/Speech Performances live auf. Dabei wird er oft vom Tonmeister Boris Wilsdorf technisch unterstützt. 2000 erarbeitete er zusammen mit Oliver Augst die Bühnenkompositionen zu Rosa Melonen Schnitt Freude nach Texten von Gertrude Stein und Rom, Blicke von Rolf Dieter Brinkmann, die sie auch gemeinsam live international aufführten. 2001 wirkte er als Sprecher an der Hörspielfassung von Michel Houellebecqs Roman Elementarteilchen mit und steuerte in gemeinschaftlicher Arbeit mit dem Komponisten Jan Tilman Schade die Musik bei. 2005 inszenierte er für die Salzburger Festspiele Warten auf die Barbaren von J. M. Coetzee.

Bargeld war 30 Jahre lang bekennender Vegetarier, bis er seiner Frau zuliebe wieder mit dem Fleischessen anfing. Er ist mit der Mathematikerin Erin Zhu verheiratet, das Paar hat einen Sohn. Eigenen Aussagen zufolge verwendet Bargeld seinen bürgerlichen Namen nicht mehr und wird selbst von seiner Mutter mit dem Künstlernamen Blixa angeredet. Er lebt heute hauptsächlich in Berlin und zeitweise in San Francisco. Im Film Tod den Hippies!! Es lebe der Punk (2015) wird er von Alexander Scheer dargestellt. 2016 und 2017 wurde Bargeld jeweils mit einem Preis für Popkultur für seine Mitwirkung bei Lang lebe der Tod (Casper) in den Kategorien „Lieblingslied“ und „Lieblingsvideo“ ausgezeichnet. 2024 beteiligt sich Bargeld als Komponist und Solist maßgeblich an dem Musiktheater-Projekt „Flammenwerfer“ über das Leben des Ausnahmekünstlers Carl Fredrik Hill. Inszenierung und Produktion durch „Hotel Pro Forma“, Mitwirkende unter anderem die namhafte dänische Vocal-Jazzgruppe IKI. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - The Weeping Song

It was released as a single from their sixth studio album, The Good Son (1990), on 17 September 1990 by Mute Records. The lyrics take the form of a dialogue between father and son, who alternate lines during the verses while singing together on the choruses. The father's part is sung by Blixa Bargeld of Einstürzende Neubauten, while Cave performs the son's part. Cave recalled the song "came out of nowhere with very little thought", one day while he lived in Brazil and walked from his home to a nearby bar he frequented. In other words, the whole damn family of Decades of Horror co-hosts are on hand for this one. Settle in for this in-depth look at director William Friedkin’s ultimate fright-fest and join the Grue Crew to celebrate 200 episodes of Decades of Horror 1970s.

Immer dann vermisste Peter sein altes Leben. Er wusste, dass das dumm war, weil es sein altes Leben so nicht mehr gab. Selbst wenn er in den nächsten Flieger gen Westen stieg, wäre sein Zuhause nicht mehr sein Zuhause. Er war nicht mehr das Kind, das ohne richtige Verantwortung in den Tag lebte und seine Freunde … über sie wusste er kaum etwas. Es war dumm weil sein altes Leben es war, was ihn in seinen Albträumen verfolgte. Jedes Mal war es der selbe Traum; er rannte und rannte, bis jeder Atemzug schmerzhaft in seiner Seite stach, seine Lungen protestierten und jede Muskelfaser in seinen Beinen schrie. Und doch holte der Tod ihn stets ein; selbst wenn Peter sich absolut sicher war, dieses Mal schnell genug zu sein. Am Ende überholte ihn das lachende Scheusal immer, und die Fratze grinste ihn hämisch an, als das Monster seinen Weg unbeirrt fortsetzte und Peter musste hilflos zusehen wie es seine todeskalten Finger nach seinem Opfer ausstreckte.
