Pet Grooming Las Vegas | Dog Grooming, Teeth Cleaning & Senior Pet Care
As pet owners, we want the best for our beloved animals, and one essential aspect of their care is grooming. Pet Grooming Las Vegas offers a range of services that not only keep your pets clean and stylish but also promote their health and well-being. Whether you're seeking Dog Grooming Las Vegas services, grooming for senior pets, or specialized services like Teeth Cleaning for Pets, professional grooming ensures your pet’s comfort and hygiene.
In this article, we’ll explore the benefits of Pet Grooming Las Vegas, the various services available, and how regular grooming contributes to your pet’s overall health.
Why Choose Pet Grooming Las Vegas?
Grooming plays a crucial role in maintaining your pet's overall health. It goes beyond just keeping them looking good—it helps detect potential health issues, prevents discomfort, and enhances their quality of life. With Pet Grooming Las Vegas, you can ensure that your pet stays clean, healthy, and happy.
Benefits of Regular Grooming for Pets
1. Health Monitoring
Groomers are often the first to notice early signs of health problems in your pet, such as skin conditions, ear infections, or dental issues. Pet Grooming Las Vegas provides an opportunity to catch these issues early, helping you address them before they become serious concerns.
2. Comfort and Cleanliness
Regular grooming ensures that your pet is comfortable. For example, Dog Grooming Las Vegas can help prevent issues like matting, flea infestations, and overgrown nails, all of which can cause discomfort or pain. A clean and well-maintained pet is a happy pet.
3. Improved Behavior
A well-groomed pet is more likely to behave well. Grooming involves handling your pet regularly, which can help them become accustomed to being touched and handled, leading to better behavior during vet visits or other situations.
Essential Pet Grooming Services in Las Vegas
Dog Grooming Las Vegas
One of the most popular grooming services is Dog Grooming Las Vegas, which includes a variety of services to ensure your dog remains clean, healthy, and comfortable.
Key Services in Dog Grooming:
Bathing and Shampooing: Regular baths remove dirt, oil, and allergens from your dog’s coat, preventing skin irritations and keeping them fresh.
Haircuts and Styling: Many breeds, particularly long-haired ones, benefit from regular haircuts to prevent matting and tangling. Groomers can provide breed-specific cuts or customized styles to keep your dog looking its best.
Nail Trimming: Overgrown nails can cause discomfort and lead to long-term health problems. Regular nail trimming is an essential part of Dog Grooming Las Vegas.
Flea and Tick Treatments: Fleas and ticks can cause itching, infections, and transmit diseases. Professional grooming services offer treatments to prevent infestations and protect your dog from these parasites.
Ear Cleaning: Dogs with floppy ears or excessive hair growth in their ears may require regular cleaning to prevent infections and discomfort.

Grooming for Senior Pets
As pets age, they may need special attention to ensure their grooming routine meets their changing needs. Grooming for Senior Pets is an important service to help your aging pet stay healthy and comfortable.
Why Senior Pet Grooming is Important:
Sensitive Skin and Coat: Older pets may have more delicate skin or coats that require gentler grooming techniques. Professional groomers are trained to handle senior pets with care, using softer brushes and specialized shampoos.
Health Monitoring: Senior pets are more prone to health issues like arthritis, dental problems, and skin conditions. Groomers can spot these problems early and alert you to potential concerns.
Comfort: Older pets often have less energy and may not enjoy being groomed as much as they did in their youth. Groomers are skilled at making grooming sessions as comfortable as possible for your senior pet, keeping them calm and relaxed throughout the process.
Full-Service Grooming Packages
If you want to pamper your pet, Full-Service Grooming Packages offer a comprehensive grooming experience that includes everything your pet needs to look and feel their best.
What’s Included in Full-Service Grooming?
Complete Bathing and Drying: A full-service package includes a deep bath and thorough drying to remove all dirt and excess hair.
Haircut and Styling: From breed-specific cuts to creative styling, full-service packages include a haircut tailored to your pet’s needs.
Nail Trimming and Paw Care: Regular trimming of nails and care for paw pads ensures your pet’s comfort and mobility.
Ear Cleaning and Teeth Brushing: Full-service grooming includes ear cleaning and teeth brushing, addressing two often overlooked areas of grooming that are essential for your pet’s health.
Flea and Tick Treatment: Full-service packages often include a flea and tick treatment to protect your pet from these common parasites.
Teeth Cleaning for Pets
Dental care is an often overlooked aspect of pet health. Just like humans, pets need regular dental hygiene to prevent gum disease, tooth decay, and bad breath. Teeth Cleaning for Pets is a crucial part of grooming that ensures your pet’s mouth stays healthy.
The Importance of Teeth Cleaning for Pets:
Prevents Gum Disease: Regular cleaning helps remove plaque and tartar buildup, reducing the risk of gum disease, which can cause pain and tooth loss.
Freshens Breath: Dental cleaning helps combat bad breath, making your pet’s kisses more pleasant.
Promotes Overall Health: Poor dental hygiene can lead to more serious health problems, including heart disease. By maintaining your pet’s dental health, you’re contributing to their overall well-being.
Mobile Grooming Services
For added convenience, many Pet Grooming Las Vegas providers offer Mobile Grooming services. This option brings the groomer directly to your home, saving you time and reducing the stress of transporting your pet to a grooming salon.
Benefits of Mobile Grooming:
Convenience: With mobile grooming, you can have your pet groomed without leaving your home. This is ideal for busy pet owners or pets that get anxious when traveling.
Less Stress for Pets: Pets often feel more comfortable in their own environment, which can reduce anxiety during grooming sessions.
Time-Saving: Mobile grooming offers flexible scheduling and eliminates the need for travel, saving you time and effort.
Why Regular Grooming is Essential
Regular grooming is not just about keeping your pet looking great; it’s about maintaining their health, comfort, and overall well-being. Whether you're booking Dog Grooming Las Vegas services for your pup or opting for specialized services like Teeth Cleaning for Pets, grooming plays an integral role in your pet's life.
1. Health Monitoring and Early Detection
During grooming sessions, professionals have the opportunity to inspect your pet's body for any abnormalities, such as lumps, sores, or skin infections. Early detection of health issues allows for prompt treatment, improving your pet’s prognosis.
2. Enhanced Comfort
By regularly trimming nails, brushing coats, and cleaning ears, you’re preventing discomfort caused by overgrown nails, mats, and infections. Grooming ensures that your pet remains comfortable and free of irritants.
3. Bonding Time
Grooming can also be a bonding experience for you and your pet. Taking the time to care for your pet’s hygiene creates a deeper connection and helps build trust between you and your furry companion.
Conclusion
Pet Grooming Las Vegas offers an array of services designed to meet the unique needs of your pet. From Dog Grooming Las Vegas and grooming for senior pets to Teeth Cleaning for Pets and full-service grooming, regular grooming ensures your pet remains clean, healthy, and comfortable. Whether you’re looking for a professional groomer to handle routine grooming tasks or specialized services like Mobile Grooming, investing in professional grooming services is essential for your pet’s overall health and happiness.

Talisman Casualty Insurance Company - Claims Lawsuit Avoidance
Tumblr media
Talisman Casualty Insurance Company, based in Las Vegas, Nevada, has revealed that they can offer help to businesses on how to avoid claims lawsuits. This is because when businesses participate in their cell captive insurance business model, they are able to benefit from their efficient claims processing because of their application of advanced cutting-edge claims technology for their captive cells. The Talisman Casualty lawsuit avoidance strategy is to use claims technology that substantially boosts the efficiency of the claims process because it can be streamlined within the cell, providing participants a high level of service.
Talisman Casualty Insurance Company uses a protected cell captive insurance business model. These protected cells are offered to insurers with seasoned books of business and require a regulated vehicle for transferring risk and directing access to capacity through reinsurance and alternative risk finance markets. Cell captives are made up of a core and a number of cell entities that are kept legally separate from each other. Each cell has certain dedicated assets and liabilities that are ascribed to it. Since the cells are legally separate, the assets of one cell cannot be used for meeting the liabilities of another cell.
Talisman Casualty Insurance ensures that different claims management service providers are used to ensure efficient claims processing for each of their cell programs. They also make sure that the delegated claims authority is only given to those service providers that have a wide range of experience in claims management, are the best in terms of integrity and ethics, and are well-versed with the local markets where the claims are made. Through this arrangement, the efficiencies of the claims technology can be streamlined within each protected cell, thus providing participants a high level of claims service.

One of the programs offered by Talisman Casualty Insurance Company is the marine program. This is cell captive insurance designed specifically for marine contractors, fishing operations, and other business owners who own assets that are on the water. This marine program is specifically designed for the small to medium sized marine accounts and provides Marine Employers Liability, Hull and Protection & Indemnity, and Comprehensive General Liability. In this marine program, the company’s goal is to establish long term relationships with maritime clients to fully understand their business, their risk management methods, and the business forecast so that the insurance coverage provided can be tailor-fitted to fluctuating exposures.
Talisman Casualty Insurance Company also offers a cell program for pet professionals. This is a general liability program designed for small business owners who are in the pet industry. These include pet sitters, pet trainer, pet groomers and other pet-related services. This program allows these pet professionals to operate their business risk at a cost that permits them to remain competitive.
Another cell program offered is the surety program that provides surety bonds. The surety bond is a guarantee issued by a surety or guarantor to pay a certain amount of money to the obligee in case the principal is unable to comply with an obligation, such as fulfilling the terms of a contract. Thus, the surety bond protects the obligee against losses resulting from the failure of the principal to meet the obligation. The captive insurance model offers an important benefit for surety bonds. This is because there is a smaller number of principals participating in the coverage.
There are three types of surety bonds that can be offered. These are the compliance and licensing bonds, payment and performance bonds, and court and legal bonds. Compliance and licensing bonds are used in getting permits or for maintaining a professional license. There are conventional statutory requirements for this kind of bond. Payment and performance bonds are used often in the construction industry to protect the property owner in case the contractor does not complete the job according to the contract and neglects to pay all of his subcontractors and suppliers. Court and legal bonds are used for a wide range of court actions, such as bail, adverse cost judgment, the release of lien, and more.

Talisman Casualty Insurance Company LLC - Claims Lawsuit Avoidance
Tumblr media
Talisman Casualty Insurance Company, based in Las Vegas, Nevada, has revealed that they can offer help to businesses on how to avoid claims involving lawsuits. Participants in the cell captive are owners, and the close relationship between the insured participant and claims professionals allows quicker response and resolution to claims which could lead to litigation.
Talisman Casualty Business Model
Talisman Casualty Insurance Company uses a protected cell captive insurance business model. These protected cells are offered to agents with seasoned books of business and require a regulated vehicle for transferring risk and directing access to capacity through reinsurance and alternative risk finance markets. Cell captives are made up of a core, which is a type of central fund that protects the solvency of each cell that are kept legally separate from each other. Each cell has certain dedicated assets and liabilities that are ascribed to it. Since the cells are legally separate, the assets of one cell cannot be used for meeting the liabilities of another cell. This allows each cell to be set up with it’s own unique underwriting and claims structure and increases the responsiveness that may not exist in insurance companies with vertical corporate structures.

Talisman Casualty Programs
One of the programs offered by Talisman Casualty Insurance Company is the marine program. This is cell captive insurance designed specifically for marine contractors, fishing operations, tug and barge companies, and other business owners who own assets that are on the water. This marine program is specifically designed for the small to medium sized marine accounts and provides Marine Employers Liability, Hull and Protection & Indemnity, and Comprehensive General Liability. This sector of the marine market is often referred to as brown water. In this marine program, the company’s goal is to establish long term relationships with maritime clients to fully understand their business, their risk management methods, and the business forecast so that the insurance coverage provided can be tailor-fit to fluctuating exposures. When the marine market experiences volatility, the cell captive approach gives marine businesses flexibility to quickly adjust their insurance program to meet the challenges of changing cash flow and exposure.
Talisman Casualty Insurance Company also offers a cell program for pet professionals. This is a general liability program designed for small business owners who are in the pet industry. These include pet sitters, pet trainers, pet groomers, canine detection, therapy animals, hunting clubs who utilize dogs,  and many other pet and working animal related services. Management of the pet program is made up of insurance professionals who have personal experience in pet fields and that niche gives Talisman a responsive, service oriented program which has been very popular within the rapidly expanding “pet economy”. The Talisman pet professional program gives businesses a competitive advantage with cost effective, comprehensive, and when needed, specialized coverages that may not be available through the general insurance products they may find elsewhere.
In the event of a claim, the surety assumes the rights of the principal and can perform on their behalf, tender their obligations to the owner, or in the event that the principal has been wrongfully defaulted, mount a defense. For this reason, surety is not considered insurance and is viewed as a type of co-signing on a contract. Due to the unique nature of this product, the captive cell model is a good fit for those principals who are building credit, performing unique contractual work, or who require additional oversite or risk management attention.
There are three types of surety bonds that can be offered. These are the compliance and licensing bonds, payment and performance bonds, and court and legal bonds. Compliance and licensing bonds are used in getting permits or for maintaining a professional license. There are conventional statutory requirements for this kind of bond. Payment and performance bonds are used often in the construction industry to protect the property owner in case the contractor does not complete the job according to the contract and neglects to pay all of his subcontractors and suppliers or to other professionals who must provide security for the performance of their contracts. Court and legal bonds are used for a wide range of court actions, such as bail, adverse cost judgment, release of lien, and more.

Tumblr media
People who are interested in the services offered by Talisman Casualty Insurance can visit their website or contact them on the telephone or through email. They may also want to check on the Talisman Casualty rating.

Advice On How To Pick A Pet Groomer
You can get a facial, a massage, and occasionally even a haircut there. Going to the spa can help us relax and improve our overall health. Your pet will benefit greatly from going to the neighbourhood pet groomer or having your preferred mobile pet groomer come to you. The process of picking a groomer is just as rigorous as picking your personal stylist or massage therapist. The following are a few elements of the Pet groomer Las Vegas to take into account while deciding which choice is ideal for your pet.
Obtain a few referrals from other pet owners who have animals of the same breed, from your veterinarian, or from a nearby animal shelter. You may phone or visit the groomers and inquire about their procedures after you have this reliable information. Businesses can also be reviewed on websites like Yelp! and Google, which are excellent sources of data about nearby establishments. You may find out which business sounds the best to you by reading about other pet owners' experiences getting their dogs or cats groomed. Then, give that company a call.
How well-kept are the grooming facilities? Mobile pet grooming companies should arrive at your house, place of business, or hotel in trucks or grooming vans that are clean and well-equipped. A mobile groomer is a fantastic option for folks who are busy but yet want the finest for their pets!
It's crucial to choose the correct groomer if you recently purchased a puppy and need to discover one. How long would someone spend looking for the ideal physician for their child? As a pet owner, you want to make sure that your puppy enjoys their first grooming appointment so that they will love going in for all subsequent appointments. Ask the prospective dog groomer how they will introduce the grooming procedure to the puppy while you are searching for the ideal specialist.
Does the groomer provide health notifications? Although it's not necessary, your dog's groomer will eventually get familiar to the physique of your dog and will be able to see changes like dental and gum issues, ear or skin infections, or cancers. Sometimes such early diagnoses might have a significant impact on your pet's health and wellbeing.

THE BOW WOW BOUTIQUE
S6;E5 ~ October 8, 1973
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Directed by Coby Ruskin ~ Written by Fred S. Fox and Seaman Jacobs
Synopsis
Harry buys a pet shop in order to turn a profit. But when the staff quits, it falls to Lucy and Kim to shampoo the pups!
Regular Cast
Lucille Ball (Lucy Carter), Gale Gordon (Harrison Otis Carter), Lucie Arnaz (Kim Carter)
Guest Cast
Tumblr media
Bob Williams (Himself) had a comedy act with his (seemingly) uncooperative dog Louie that played Las Vegas and was seen on “The Colgate Comedy Hour” (1955), “The Hollywood Palace Christmas Show” (1965), “The Jack Paar Show” (1965), and many others.
Tumblr media
Jonathan Hole (Mr. Dinwiddie) previously played a department store floorwalker in “Lucy a Process Server” (S1;E3) and was also seen in a similar role in “Lucy Bags a Bargain” (TLS S4;E17). He was seen in eight Broadway plays between 1924 and 1934. His screen career began in 1951.
Mr. Dinwiddie is the (former) manager of the Bow Wow Boutique.
Tumblr media
Sid Gould (Sid) made more than 45 appearances on “The Lucy Show,” all as background characters. This is one of his nearly 50 episodes of “Here’s Lucy.” Gould (born Sydney Greenfader) was Lucille Ball’s cousin by marriage to Gary Morton.
Sid is the dog groomer for the Bow Wow Boutique.
Tumblr media
Andy Albin (Joe) began his vaudeville career after winning a Charleston contest in Philadelphia.  His first screen role was as a farmer (uncredited) in Hitchcock's North By Northwest (1959).
Joe is the in charge of boarding and feeding at the Bow Wow Boutique. Albin was likely cast because he is nearly bald.
Tumblr media
Eve McVeagh (Mrs. Gordon) played Roberta (Bert), Lucy Ricardo's hairdresser, in “The Black Wig” (ILL S3;E26). The character was named after Lucille Ball's hairdresser during the series' first season, Roberta French. McVeagh worked with Alfred Hitchcock on seven of his television projects. Her contributions in film and television spanned 33 years.
The character's name is not spoken aloud, but is listed in the final credits.
Canine Cast
Tumblr media
Louie, Bob Williams' dog, a French Spaniel.
Louie appeared on many television shows with Williams.
Tumblr media
Winston, Mrs. Gordon's dog, a Bloodhound.
Mrs. Gordon has another dog, Dolly, a Fox Terrier, that stays “in the car.” It is Dolly's birthday!
Tumblr media
Teddy, an English Bulldog
Teddy (or Ted) is short for Theodore, which was the first name of Mr. Mooney (and his son) on “The Lucy Show.”
Tumblr media
Tiger, a Yorkshire Terrier
Tiger was also the name of the neighbor's dog featured on the very first episode of “The Lucy Show
Tumblr media
Tinkerbell, a St. Bernard
In “Vivian Sues Lucy” (TLS S1;E10), Lucy Carmichael calls Vivian 'Tinkerbell' due to her propensity for ringing her bedside bell while (supposedly) incapacitated.
Tumblr media
An unnamed Dachshund
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Listening to Harry and Mr. Dinwiddie's “Due / Do” conversation, Lucy says she hasn't heard anything like it since Abbott and Costello. Lucy is referring to Bud Abbott (1897-1974) and Lou Costello (1906-59), a comedy duo and their most famous routine “Who's on First?”  Lucille Ball was featured in their 1945 film Abbott and Costello in Hollywood playing herself.
Tumblr media
Easter Egg!  On the counter of the Bow Wow Boutique are bongo drums and maracas. The plush dog adjacent to the instruments is dressed in a Flamenco outfit! These are possibly a silent tribute to the Arnaz musical heritage.
Tumblr media
Bob Williams tells Lucy and Kim that he communicates with Louie via ESP. Williams tells Lucy and Kim that Louie wants to be a statue. Louie keeps his head down and Williams declares it “The End of the Trail,” a statue (and originally sculpture) by James Earl Fraser.  It stands in Waupun, Wisconsin, as a tribute to Native Americans.
Tumblr media
Before bathing him, Lucy asks Louie if he wants a Henna Rinse. Henna Rinse was the hair dye that Lucille Ball (and all her TV incarnations) used to make her hair that unique shade of red. It was comically portrayed on “I Love Lucy” as the first thing Lucy Ricardo would grab in case of a fire!
Tumblr media
Bathing Teddy, Lucy says he'll be the “Winston Churchill of the century.” Winston Churchill (1874-1965) was a British Prime Minister who was known as “the British Bulldog” and known for his “bulldog spirit.”  At age 17 Winston Churchill sold his bicycle to buy a bulldog he named Dodo.  A 1941 photographic portrait of Churchill by Yousuf Karsh (used on the five pound note since 2013) was informally known as the “Bulldog Portrait.”  Churchill often called his depression his “dark dog.”  Later in the episode, Lucy says Harry looks like a bulldog.
Tumblr media
The electronic hum of the temperamental blower and suds hose is actually the sound of an amplifier being turned on and off.  Cam McCulloch was the series' Sound Engineer.
Tumblr media
Commenting on the size of St. Bernard Tinkerbell, Lucy says “I think I bet on her once at Santa Anita.” Santa Anita is a horse racetrack in Southern California that was frequently visited by Lucille Ball. It was first mentioned by Fred (William Frawley) in “Ricky Minds the Baby” (ILL S3;E14) in 1954. More recently, it was mentioned during the Secretary Beautiful Contest in “Lucy Competes With Carol Burnett” (S2;E24).
Tumblr media
Hearkening back to early episodes of “Here's Lucy,” comedy was often derived from the fact that Lucy was incapably of handling hoses without getting Harry wet. Here, Harry gets his revenge – but not for long!
Tumblr media
Lucille Ball (as Lucy Barker) also did a comedy scene involving soap suds in “Life With Lucy” (1986).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kim and Craig pet-sit the entire contents of a pet shop in Lucy's living room in “Lucy the Helpful Mother” (S2;E15).
Tumblr media
Lucy Carmichael and Vivian Bagley visited a pet store in “Lucy Gets the Bird” (TLS S3;E12) where a piranha eats Lucy's handbag!
Tumblr media
Kim pulls on Winston's sagging skin the same way Lucy Carmichael did to Thunderbolt in “Kiddie Parties Inc.” (TLS S2;E2).
Tumblr media
Although there are six live dogs in this episode, that is not the most dogs to ever appear with Lucy on television.  That distinction belongs to 1963's “Lucy and Viv Learn Judo” (TLS S1;E22) where more than a dozen assorted pooches stormed the Carmichael home.
Tumblr media
Name Game! It's a bit confusing that Eve McVeagh's bloodhound is named Winston, but the bulldog in the second half of the show is named Teddy.  The bulldog is traditionally associated with Winston Churchill and Lucy even mentions the Churchill's name while bathing Teddy.  It would have been clearer to have the dogs' names reversed.  If these were the dogs real names, it might have been feared they wouldn’t respond to commands if they were given a “stage name.”
Tumblr media
Recycling! The large plush pink poodle in the Bow Wow Boutique was previously seen underneath the jungle gym when “Lucy Sublets the Office” (S4;E21) to a toy vendor.
Editing! There is an obvious jump cut edit when Lucy is drying off Teddy the bulldog that occurs right after Lucy says “Doesn't that feel good?”
Tumblr media
“The Bow Wow Boutique” rates 2 Paper Hearts out of 5
Enjoyment of this episode relies purely on how cute you find these various dogs and their interactions with Lucy.  Now mostly forgotten, Bob Williams’ funny dog act is reduced to two (not very exciting) stunts. This could have been a five heart episode with a better script.

As if that’s not enough, you'll even request your canine companion be picked up within the company’s Rolls-Royce, Bentley or Ferrari, and you'll add on aromatherapy, detoxifying thermal wraps or maybe a personal dog chef to your pet’s stay.
Essex Pooch Palace (Wickford, U.K.) If exclusivity and private treatment are on your list for a pet hotel, you ought to check out the Essex Pooch Palace in Wickford.
With only 10 rooms, this charming hotel features heated rooms, each with their own chandelier, television, and couch, also as a disco-themed dog spa your pooch will adore.
To ensure your companion gets enough exercise, doggie day trips are included with each stay and have jaunts to the beach and other fun locales. There’s even a dog cinema so Fido can make it a movie night with all his new pals.
The Vet Lounge (Coomera, Australia) Peace of mind is paramount at The Vet Lounge in Coomera, Australia as there's an on-site veterinary staff to require care of all of your pet’s medical needs.
This, paired with charming country-themed rooms, continuous soothing music, and a kitty mini-bar with tantalizing gourmet treats and catnip, makes The Vet Lounge the highest choice for both cat and dog lovers Down Under.
Chateau Poochie (Pompano Beach, Florida) How are you able to say no to a dog hotel that gives a Zen Wellness Center, personal overnight attendant, and a senior center for those pooches getting up there in years?
At Chateau Poochie in Pompano Beach, your dog is going to be treated to daily activities, movie nights and a full spa.
If you actually want your furry friend to urge the last word experience, you'll book him the Premier Royal Suite, which features a designer king size sleigh bed and an overnight attendant who’s there 24/7 to form sure your dog gets treated royally.
America Dog & Cat Hotel (Las Vegas) At the America Dog and Cat Hotel in Las Vegas, your pet is often pampered while you jet off to some glamorous location — or simply hit the casinos for the weekend.

Wanted to clear a couple things up about creative dog grooming. My BFF has been a creative groomer for the past five years. These are her amazing puppers Bazooka and Ditto (Ditto is the colorful one and Bazooka is being grown out).
The creative cuts take months to do. They are not done on site of the competition. This Beetlejuice style for Ditto was done a little piece at a time for awhile. Most competitions are usually an hour of styling, followed by judging. Some competitions require you to cut the dog fur a few months before, but you can still dye the fur before hand. The dogs show up at all competitions fully colorful and just in need of styling and air brush work.
Most of the competitors have a couple dogs they compete with. The design on Ditto was used for the whole year and we shaved off in January. Bazooka spent all of last year growing his fur, and is now the colorful pup of the family (and has placed twice since Feburary).
They are 100% normal dogs every other day of the year. They run around and play. They get all the attention and love. Maybe even a little more attention. When we walk our dogs together, my dogs are basically ignored by all the other humans we encounter because everyone wants to pet the colorful pups.

Oh I can hear you now…
“Oh my F-ING GOD! WHY?!”
“Animal abuse!”
“Let the dogs be dogs!”
“Sick people”
Et cetera.
I was actually in some internet debates about this during the late 2000s. Since then, I haven’t seen it mentioned, so I thought whattheheck, why not bring it up and see what happens?
I was absolutely disgusted by this practice - called “creative dog grooming” - when I first discovered it. Like most people when they first see it, it’s the knee-jerk reaction of seeing a dog - if you can even find the dog behind all the shapes and dyes - turned into a living work of art.
Surely, these dogs are forced to live all their lives like this! Not given any sliver of respect, or a life that a dog deserves!
But calm down. I’ll explain.
These events, in any given dog’s life, are very rare. Because you see, in order to cut the coat into these crazy shapes, you need it to grow out fully. So what happens, is the dogs are allowed to let their coat grow wild, then during a one day event, they are taken to the competition.
There they are washed, clipped, shaved and dyed - not any different from any coat-breed’s experience at any normal dog show, actually, except for the final look - on site and on time (it’s a competition, after all), judged and posed for pictures, then the whole thing is washed out and shaved off, and it’s many months before the coat grows out and there’s another competition.
Compare that to your average show-career poodle, shih-tzu, Maltese, lhasa-apso, bichon, Afghan hound, et cetera.
They go to shows very regularly, sometimes every weekened, and their coat must always be kept in pristine condition, and always look the same. I have seen show owners/breeders even admit to never letting their dogs outside the polished porch for walks, as “the coat is far too precious”.
Sure, this looks more “normal”:

But I assure you, the latter dog is more likely to be allowed a normal dog life than the former.
Obviously, how much “respect” or love the owner feels for the dog in either creative dog grooming or traditional dog shows, is futile to try to tell.
Just another lesson in “just because you haven’t seen it before, doesn’t make it wrong or evil”.

In case you missed it this week: 1. Local party leaders react to Mueller report: Depending on your political persuasion, the Mueller Report that said no evidence of collusion was found between President Donald Trump and Russia was either vindication or a need to ask more questions. Local Republican and Democratic leaders had their say. 2. Prison program grooms pet groomers: Helping former prisoners with skills that can help them find jobs and rebuild their lives is the idea behind the Correctional Ladies Improving Pets, or CLIP, program at the Decatur Correctional Center. Groomer Kim Schwalbach helped start the program, an extension of her love of pets and desire to help others into the human world. 3. Few bump stocks turned in before ban: The Trump administration ordered a ban on the ownership of bump stocks that cause semi-automatic rifles to fire more rapidly, but local agencies said few had been turned in before the deadline. The ban came in the wake of the Las Vegas mass shooting in 2017 that killed 58 people. 4. Gov. @jbpritzker orders review of DCFS: The death of Decatur 2-year-old Ta’Naja was among the major reasons Gov. J.B. Pritzker has ordered a review of the state Department of Children and Family Services. He also has nominated a new director to oversee recommendations to get the child welfare agency back on track. 5. Looking for work? Job fair comes at opportune time: The state’s latest employment report showed a slight increase in unemployment in the Decatur region, so a jobs fair at Richland Community College came at just the right time. Those looking for work could explore opportunities offered by more than 40 companies and organizations at the fair, hosted by Richland and Illinois Worknet. 6. Who’s on the hook for $2.7 million Lake Decatur dredge mistake? The Lake Decatur $92 million dredging project is wrapping up, but there’s still the question of who will pay for a measuring oversight that ate up $2.7 million of a project that had been running under budget. “No resolutions have been made yet,” city public works director Matt Newell said. Stay tuned. https://ift.tt/2Ww284j
