Since I've chatted about Reacher, and have caught up with several of the books(yes, I mean several, because I'm very eager for Season 3), here's my favorites so far(In no particular order). (And recommendations for others!)
1) Killing Floor: Yup, an obvious choice(and my favorite of the bunch, I blame my love for Roscoe and Finlay), but it's really good. The mystery is tight and entertaining, I loved getting to where the book came to the screen for the series. I also really liked the lighter moments in this book too, like Finlay and Reacher dancing in excitement in the counterfeit money pile, and the fights were entertaining as heck as well. Loved both versions of the Killing Floor!
2) Tripwire: I didn't actually enjoy Die Trying that much, I thought the FBI sections were boring and the "trapped in a locked van" isn't my forte, so Tripwire was a breath of fresh air. The main baddie was terrifying, and I may or may not have kept screaming at the book for Reacher to turn around because who he was looking for was RIGHT THERE. Also felt really bad for Hobie's family, they didn't deserve the crap they went through. Bonus points for the "my muscles stopped a bullet" ending, it cracked me up.
3) Persuader: I can see why so many people have this at the top of their list, it was really good! I loved the undercover aspect, and folding in all sorts of backstory and drama was a lot of fun to dissect. Watching Reacher finally beat Paulie was amazing, and the end was beautiful. I also really liked exploring Reacher's more vulnerable side, this book shows he has a heart.
4) Worth Dying For: Probably the best written so far, everything about this one clicked for me, I loved getting to explore Nebraska and try to figure out what was going on, that twist at the end made my jaw drop in the middle of an airplane. 😅 Easily the best villain beat down of the entire series, I was audibly cheering by the end of it.
5) One Shot: My favorite opening sequence to one of the books, but definitely one of the heavier opening sequences. It really drove home the terror of the violence, and the mystery of what happened, why it happened, and who's behind everything. A more "thinky" Reacher was great, I loved seeing the detective work and slowly unraveling the mystery alongside him. The Tom Cruise movie is... interesting, I thought some of it was delivered pretty good, but the book was better for me overall.
Honorable Mention: Echo Burning-It was fine, I'm not overly fond of how fast to dismiss Carmen the book seemed to be, and how odd she came off at times. However, Ellie Greer is a delight and her scenes were my favorites.
And that's it for me!
