day 02: backstab
[Image ID: A large digital illustration done in the style of an oil painting of young Justin Lawson and Alfendi Layton, as well as Keelan Makepeace, of Layton Brothers Mystery Room. Justin and Al are in the left and center of the canvas, respectively. Justin has one arm around Alfendi and has his other hand in his pocket and is smiling at him. He is wearing a white collared shirt with the sleeves rolled up, his usual tie, brown suspenders, and teal dress pants. Alfendi is looking off to the side, holding a case file in his right hand while his other is held up, gesturing. He is wearing a dark blue dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up, black dress pants, and has short hair and no stubble. on the right side of the canvas are the eyes of Keelan Makepeace, which are slightly transparent and blend into the background. The background is white, with a large yellow bar on the right side of the canvas, and Justin and Keelan have simple black halos while Al has a gold one. Over each halo is a small number, spelling out '002' together. /.End ID.]

Mystra showed him the secrets beneath the veils. The gossamer veils first, draped across the Weave. The delicate veils next, draped across her body. 'Chosen One' she whispered, as she slipped them off completely.
poor gale :'(
- the dialogue is from ea gale's explanation about his folly
- i kinda like that she ended up looking like a mother-of-pearl inlay lacquerware!
- oh this was a subconscious choice, but Gale is sitting in seiza which is a posture for showing respect especially to elders. it's also known to be a painful position to sit in for extended periods of time, which is why it was sometimes used as a method of (morally dubious) punishment. however, experienced people can maintain this posture for much longer. food for thought :-)
- (edit: deleted this point bcs it didn't really make sense + detracted from the art a little;;)

Ehm... Sorry to bother, but... Could we, maybe, possibly... see Vasco's wife and her lover pictured by your hand? Sorry again, thank you for listening. Take care.
*delicately lays you back into the water to prevent any stress or dehydration*
Unfortunately I don't have her lover figured out yet, but I think Ludovica looks something like this:

A few days ago I woke up bleary eyed, sat down at my computer, and spat this out.
Mostly just a bit of goofy sketching but here's magical boy (magical man?) submas
I'm not gonna flesh this out a whole bunch since there's not much I can really do with it, but some rough notes:
Both of them have two soul stones, one in the hat and one in the staff. In their base uniform, the staff's stone is on the back of their gloves, separating when activated
They're only able to activate their abilities when they're with each other. Though they can both separately fight and return to normal, they need each other to begin the reaction and use their powers. Should one of them go missing, the other will not be able to use their abilities
The stone can be removed from the staff, returning to the hand if it is. The purpose of doing this is to replace it with a pokeball, allowing the staff to channel the pokemon's moves along with its standard attacks (electricity for Emmet, fire for Ingo)
Ingo and Emmet can trade (or steal) clothes mid transformation, switching pieces or entire uniforms. Emmet will typically borrow Ingo's darker gloves and boots if he expects to get particularly violent in battle, while Ingo usually takes Emmet's white accessories since he finds them more classy than his full black uniform
They are able to float in their magical forms, mostly using the levitation to run loops around their opponents and pressure them from all sides
The only opponent is literally Team Plasma, this power is reserved solely for beating grunts, sages, or Ghetsis should they ever cross paths (technically the code is to defend the world from evil but for any other issue they'll either settle it normally or with pokemon battling)
This was mostly for shits and giggles but I hope you enjoy 👍

(They're good enough at Tetris that a couple dollars in quarters will last them a decent amount of time, but sometimes they splurge and get the $12 all-you-can-play pass. The album they're listening to is harsh noise!)

Pac: We can create a rebellion! Maybe, you know, Bagi you could be the leader.
Fit: We could start a riot, a prison riot! Let's go!
Bagi: I would love to be the leader of a rebellion!
Pac: [In a nervous voice] And I- I don't wanna be like, I don't want to say some stuff, but like, do you think your brother is gonna be there? ...Please say no. Please.
Bagi: I- I don't think he will. He's missing for a really long time.
Pac: [Relieved] Ok, no, yeah yeah. Yeah, ok. [He breaths a sigh of relief] You know, probably for the better!
Bagi: But he could destroy the prison and get us out of there.
Pac: Yeah? ...Oh my god. If I– if Cell saved me from prison... Wow. That changes everything!
Bagi: [Laughs] It would be a really good plot twist!
Pac: Yeah, that would be- that would be absolute cinema, you know? Oh, I'm down for that. Who knows, right? Who knows. Everything's possible in QSMP
Fit: It'll be interesting. Yeah, anything's possible.

Surprise! I've improved a lot since--*checks date of old post*--April 28th, 2021?? Hello???
Listen, it's not hard to believe that I've been obsessed with this game and its characters for a long time lol
This was a heck of a lot of fun to draw though! I had to get creative with the composition to fit some of the characters I didn't originally include, but it was worth it lol
Here's an alternate version under the cut where Brianna and Mandalore aren't covering up the midground crew:

Part 9 is gonna be kinda funny honestly, since it's basically
SIkuna: *tries his best to balance coming off as Sukuna-like (kinda conceited and such) with also being relatively nice and making Yuji as comfy as he can despite the circumstances
(without letting on just how much he'd like to hug the kid, and ask a billion questions about whether he's alright or not, and tell Yuji just how badly he wanted the Detention Center thing to end differently-)*
Meanwhile, Yuji: 'I can't prove anything, but my Bullshit detectors are telling me that he's trying to Bullshit 🤨'
Though even more meanwhile (probably not outright depicted in the Part for now but it is happening);
Nobara, Megumi, and Satoru: *deal with their respective parts of the Plan, and try not to feel murderous at the people happy to see Yuji 'dead'
(whilst also attempting not to think about just how every single second lost could impact their 'deceased' friend/student)*
Ijichi: *gets his hand fixed and makes sure that Shoko is well-informed of the Plan, hoping that this will not end in an utter disaster*
Shoko: *is very outwardly chill about it all, but at the same time has a Lot of internal Hmmmmm's on the matter*

In light of my recent Asclepius and Apollo musings, I feel like it's the perfect time to post this, actually.
How do you build a human being?
Bold question. Foolish question. But a question it is all the same.
The memory of his father’s consternated expression is still bright behind his eyes, that unusually furrowed brow, the tension in his gentle jaw. He didn’t falter in his setting of Asclepius’ broken shin, hands perpetually steady and sure, but he hesitated for a conspicuously long moment as though reluctant to give an answer. In this body, he resembled Orpheus something fierce. The same flaxen curls of his hair, the same delicate eyelashes that stand stark against the dark brown of his skin. Often Asclepius wondered if his elder brother was nothing but a body built to suit their father’s preferences. The subtle wrinkle of skin around their eyes when they smiled was the same, and the steadiness of their hands, the soothing power of their presence.
And Orpheus did not bleed like Asclepius did. The blood in Asclepius’ veins were as red as any human’s, any mortal’s, but Orpheus seemed not to bleed at all. Even when he’d suffered the same fall down the crumbling cliff as Asclepius had. Even when his skirts had ripped and jagged stone sliced into his shanks.
Even so, Orpheus was unmistakably alive. His eyes were rich with grief fresher than any blood spilt from the worst of Asclepius’ wounds, his counsel too, was tempered with the wisdom of a life well lived. So even at the apex of his most perfect, inhuman beauty, Asclepius never once doubted that his brother was a human being. Just that he was more divine construct than flesh and blood. Just that their father had built for himself a son that would not break as easily as all the others.
His father stayed silent for so long that Asclepius assumed it would be one of the million questions that would go unanswered. Then, just when the last of his bandages had been wrapped -
“A human body is easy to build,” he’d had that faraway look on his face as he spoke, like he was speaking to the horizon. Or a version of Asclepius that was not quite here. Such things happened from time to time. “Any flesh would do. From men, or animals, or even monsters. Any flesh would do.” Their gazes had locked then, and Asclepius would never forget the flecks of gold which swirled in his father’s blue eyes, the weight of divine words rattling at the boundaries of their mortal apparatus, “But the breath of life, a living soul? That is beyond your means as a mortal man. You ought never seek it.”
(Asclepius would remember these words when he revives a man for the first time at the age of nineteen. He’s surprised to find that his father is wrong for once. Souls are easy to source when they’re already eager to return to their mound of flesh.)
