Sanusi’s exposé on Buhari, APC, vindicates Us - PDP -NigPilot
Tumblr media
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Wednesday said that the exposé by former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, that the gains made by Nigeria in 35 years were wiped out in the last five years, vindicates its stance that President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress, APC, the administration has wrecked Nigeria. The PDP asserted in a state by the Spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, that the declaration by Sanusi Lamido directly reflects the position of the majority of Nigerians across the country. Noting that the dire situation is now beyond politics, the PDP called on more stakeholders to speak out irrespective of ethnicity, creed, and political party affiliations, so as to save the nation from a total collapse. According to the party, the Buhari Presidency and the APC have in the last six years, only succeeded in destroying every sector of our national life with their manifest incompetence, unbridled corruption, treasury looting, impunity, exclusionist and restrictive economic policies that have brought our nation to her knees. "Nigerians can recall that the PDP handed over a robust economy, rated the largest hub in Africa and one of the fastest-growing in the world with Fitch B+ rating and Gross Domestic Produce (GDP) of $574 billion to President Buhari and the APC in May 2015. "Sadly, in the last six years, Buhari-led APC administration has reduced our productive sectors to complete wreckage with alarming 33.3 percent unemployment and 17.38% inflation rates; over 60 million hitherto flourishing businesses folded up and the naira crashing from N167 to a dollar in 2015 to N512 under the APC corrupt and directionless watch. "More depressing is that the corrupt APC administration has practically erased all the gained of the debt repayment achieved by the PDP, returned our nation to a beggar state, and mortgaged the sovereignty of our country with reckless borrowing and accumulated N33.107 trillion. "Life has become so unbearable in Nigeria under President Buhari and the APC, that more than 82.9 million Nigerians are no longer able to afford their daily meals and other necessities of life, with our nation now ranking as the poverty capital of the world and 98th out of 107 in Global Hunger Index. "Today, under the APC, a liter of fuel which sold for N87 under the PDP now sells for N165, a bag of rice which sold for N8,000 now sells for N30,000, a measure of garri and beans which sold for N150 and N250 now sells for N600 and N800 respectively; a measure of maize and guinea corn which sold for about N150 now sells for N400, a kilo of meat which sold for about N800 now sells for about N2,300 while a 12.5 kg of cooking gas which sold for N3,000 now sells for over N6,000, all thanks to the incompetence and corruption of the Buhari-led APC administration. The PDP further added that the compromises of the APC administration have led to the escalation of terrorist activities, banditry, kidnapping, killings, bloody agitations as well as other acts of violence that have turned our nation into a large funeral palour, with no hope in sight. "Indeed, this is not the way our nation should go. The PDP, therefore, urges more Nigerians to speak out to rescue our nation from this fast descent to a failed state." Alliance to fight devpt council polls jointly in J&K | India News - Times of India
Tumblr media
SRINAGR: The recently-constituted Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), an amalgam of seven regional parties including CPM and CPI, on Saturday unanimously decided to contest the District Development Council (DDC) polls jointly in Jammu and Kashmir. The polls will be held from November 28. The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) too on Saturday announced that it will contest the DDC polls. The J&K election commission had recently announced the first-ever elections to DDC and by-polls of vacant panchayat seats and municipal corporations following the abrogation of Article 370 last year. Barring national parties like CPM and CPI, regional parties had declared that they would not join polls to any institution till the restoration of statehood to J&K. The PAGD, formed on October 15, consists of the National Conference, Peoples’ Democratic Party, Peoples’ Conference, Awami National Conference, J&K Peoples’ Movement, CPM and CPI. The decision was conveyed to the media following a meeting in Jammu on Saturday. Alliance spokesperson Sajad Gani Lone, who was accompanied by other PAGD leaders, said alliance president Farooq Abdullah will declare the names of candidates. However, senior NC leader and former minister Aga Ruhullah Mehdi opposed the PAGD decision to join DDC polls. Aga, an influential Shia leader in central Kashmir, tweeted: “… they are setting rules and you are playing by that. Read the full article

PDP Rep loses seat to APC in Ondo
Tumblr media
A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives member, Ikengboju Gboluga, has lost his seat to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Akure, Ondo State Capital, nullified his election on Thursday. Gboluga is representing Okitipupa/Irele constituency in the House of Reps. The court nullified his election for swearing his allegiance to the United Kingdom (UK), having acquired the citizenship of the country. The court emphasised that he was not eligible to contest for the February 23, National Assembly election for his allegiance with UK. The three-man panel headed by Justice Nuhu Adi also declared Albert Akintoye of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the election and ordered electoral commission to issue Certificate of Return to Akintoye after withdrawing same from Gboluga. The petitioner wanted the tribunal to declare him winner of the election on the ground that the first respondent, Gboluga Ikengboju was  not validly elected by majority of lawful votes cast. Besides, he said Gboluga was not eligible to stand for the election having sworn to an oath of allegiance to the United Kingdom as enunciated by section 66 sub-section one of the 1999 constitution. The tribunal chairman, Justice Nuhu Adi, said evidences of 15 witnesses called by the petitioner, including himself were not sufficient to prove that the grounds of non compliance with the electoral laws substantially affected the conduct and outcome of the election Justice Adi also said Ikengboju’s counsel did not oppose the evidence tendered by the petitioner that the PDP lawmaker swore to an oath of allegiance to the UK. He said in line with extant laws, the tribunal was convinced that Ikengboju was not  eligible to run for the election and therefore, nullified his victory. He, therefore, ordered INEC to issue the petitioner a certificate of return as the first runner up since the votes credited to Ikengboju had been a waste. Akintoye expressed gratitude to the Ondo Elections Petition tribunal for upholding his prayers to be declared winner of the February 2019 House of Representatives election. He said his victory showed rule of law at work and expressed readiness for further actions on the judgement by the respondents. His counsel, Adamson Adeboro, said the tribunal was right to have upheld their arguments that Ikengboju was not eligible to contest having admitted to have sworn oath of allegiance to the United Kingdom. However, counsel to Ikengboju, Olumide Ogunje, said his client would appeal the judgement. The state chairman of APC in the state, Ade Adetimehin, lauded the tribunal’s judgement and hailed the resilience of Akintoye to reclaim his mandate in court. He said the victory has swelled the ranks of the APC, particularly in the National Assembly. Adetimehin appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately issue a certificate of return to Akintoye as directed by the tribunal. Read the full article

PDP crisis: Secondus survives removal plot
Tumblr media
...NWC tenure truncated by 2 months   ... National Convention now in October   ...NEC to meet, set up Zoning, Convention Committees   National Chairman of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus on Tuesday survived a plot to oust him as leaders of the party gave him not to continue in office until the party's national convention. PDP erupted into a leadership crisis last week when seven national deputy officers resigned, sparking some chieftains of the party led by the National Youth Leader, Hon Udeh Okoye to demand the immediate resignation of Prince Secondus. Meetings of several organs of the party were summoned to resolve the crisis, and the reports of the various organs were deliberated at the Tuesday meeting summoned by the Board of Trustees, BoT. Addressing journalists at the end of the joint meeting of the Board of Trustees, BoT; National Working Committee, NWC and Assembly Caucus at the party's national secretariat, the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Hon Aminu Tambuwal said the issues have been resolved, and a national convention will be held in October to elect new leadership for the party. He declared the Prince Secondus will continue to pilot the affairs of the party in collaboration with other members of the NWC. Governor Tambuwal added that the national convention will now take place in October instead of December, thereby cutting short the tenure of the present NWC members by two months. "As party members of the BoT, members of the governor forum, members of former governors' forum, former ministers, former Senators, former presiding officer of the National Assembly and various stakeholders, we are very happy to announce that we have discussed all matters, and we have resolved to continue to work as a united family. "This meeting has agreed that immediately the NEC should be convened for the party to constitute the National Convention planning committee and the National Convention should be held the latest by the end of October. "Also, the zoning committee for the party should also be constituted by the same NEC immediately. "So we thank members of the party for holding up. We thank them for their prayers and support. We also thank well-meaning Nigerians who have been waiting patiently for the resolution of these issues. Responding to the question if the decision of the party leaders is a vote of confidence in Prince Secondus, Governor Tambuwal said: "NEC of the party shall meet most likely next week and all the issues will be addressed. And that NEC will be convened by the Chairman of the party, who is constitutionally endowed to do so." FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. 2019: We’ll soon leave APC for good – Shehu Sani
Tumblr media
2019: We’ll soon leave APC for good – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, The Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani has said that he and other aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, will quit the party if the identified challenges were not resolved. The Senator spoke to journalists, who paid him Sallah homage in Kaduna yesterday, adding that he will be contesting the governorship of the state, unless the Kaduna political stakeholders, which he is a member, decided otherwise. Sani said, “We condemned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the past for not being fair and just to its members, but the APC has found itself in similar, if not worst situation, as at today.” Sani said himself and other party members “will not tolerate or condone injustices”, noting that, “if solutions to the identified challenges in the APC are not taken care of in the coming weeks, there will be no going back on their decision to leave the party for good.” He added, “There is a Kaduna political stakeholders, made up of former governors, lawmakers and various party chieftains, and, as a team player, I am a member. I am going to contest the governor of Kaduna State, but, if the stakeholders insist on me going back to the senate, I will have no objection, whatsoever. “Nigerians are now more resolved and conscious to vote for people of integrity who will work for them, hence, I have the confidence of winning my election in whatever party I contest, because people will vote individuals based on merit, and not party, in the 2019 general elections. “As it is today, over 25 registered political parties have come to us to express solidarity and support, and I can confirm to you that opposition from Kaduna State will come under an alliance of forces in the coming elections. “I want to make it clear that should I contest and become the governor of Kaduna State, I will open the government house to the masses.” Read the full article

The battle for the soul of Lagos continues in earnest. Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shown desperation like never before. It is a battle that even the FG is very much involved, by proxy. Can Tinubu sustain the battle against the forces stacked up against him? Tinubu grossly underestimated the challenge from Akinwunmi Ambode and is now fighting to maintain his stranglehold over Lagos. This is the most exciting contest ever. The snag is that I expect it to get worse before it gets better. All spectators should take precaution so as not to get ensnared in this war of attrition. #lionofbourdillon #akinwunmiambode #allprogressivescongress #peoplesdemocraticparty #steveayorinde #lagosstategovernment https://www.instagram.com/p/BoddRTlAA07/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=j9424hu27hjb
