Romance is, too, important in “The Hunger Games”

You have to be a very stupid person to ever consider that discussing the romance in “The Hunger Games” trilogy is a dumb choice. The romance is part of the story, for god’s sake. Actions and consequences of a lot of points of the story only happen because of it.

The Hunger Games is a story about how war destroys the human being, how humans themselves prefer to see others suffer for power. But it’s also a love story. How a young teenager sacrifices so many aspects of her life for the safety of those she loves. Her reality took away her chance of growing up a normal, happy life. Panem took Katniss’, Peeta’s, and basically everyone in this story, a chance at love. But they found it.

Together.

Despite it all, despite of their realities, the Games, Snow, Coin, the war raging and the possibility of not only losing her life but also her loved ones’. Many of Katniss’ choices were only made out of love. Out of fear.

The Hunger Games is a story about the Revolution, but it is a story of love, too. Katniss DESERVED a good life and the romantic aspect of it can never erase her story, her strength and resilience. Heroines have the choice to wanting romance or not and their choices can never undermine their personalities and worth.

Stating that discussing the romance in The Hunger Games is fruitless is choosing not to understand the story and its many layers. Romance is, too, important to understand the character's choices, feelings and their own philosophies; it creates more depth to them. And it's just as important as important. And, to be honest? It’s borderline misogynistic and sexist to affirm such thing.

Watched the first Hunger Games movie this weekend, and had this jumble of thoughts relative to Katniss & Peeta-

• She is everything. He is Just Ken.

• They're like if Reagan Ridley and Brett Hands grew up in hell. Yes, autistic Katniss. Yes, himbo Peeta. I want to see them work for a shadow government together

• Katniss could have, and should have, been weirder. I support Katniss Rights and Katniss Wrongs

• Shipping them is... fine... but platonic soulmates Katniss & Peeta would've been everything. Real to me.

• Why is there no good ship name for them? Surely somebody found SOMETHING better than Peeniss or Peetniss. I'm not calling them Peeniss.

• I guess 'Kata' would've been okay, but like... eh.

• Unpopular opinion- Gale and Peeta are both fine. I don't hate either of them. Gale might be a stale piece of bread, but that's okay, because so am I. Peeta is like a princess to me.

I don’t think Gale does a single redeeming thing throughout all of mockingjay. Peeta’s been hijacked and he still remembers katniss’s favorite stew and gives her a can

Faz tanto tempo que não venho por aqui que até tinha me esquecido dessa conta, rindo para não chorar. Sinceramente nem sei se vou conseguir mais ta postando, mas vou tentar manter sempre que puder (e lembrar).

Essa semana simplesmente fiquei obcecada por jogos vorazes e tive que reassistir todos os filme e reler os livros (falta agora o último), provavelmente não irei fazer resenhas deles mas deixo aqui o quanto essa trilogia é impecável, tanto os livros quanto os filmes.

Reler agora, tantos anos depois me deu a chance principalmente de olhar a katniss com novos olhos, admito que na primeira vez que li minha primeira impressão foi achar a katniss egoísta (?????) minha cabeça de adolescente não tinha capacidade para entender ela, eu so tava focada no romance, hoje em dia eu entendo o puta peso que existia em cima dos ombros dela que simplesmente ela nem sabia como reagir a certas coisas, encurtando agora amo ela mais ainda (porém peeta sempre será meu favorito de todos, 50% das vezes que vejo os filmes ou li os livros foi por causa da história e os outros 50% foi por causa dele KKKK)

Nice point but I also think it’s grosser than that

The Capitol wanted the chance to consume the Peetniss child. They wanted the kid to be Reaped, or, swoon, volunteer for another kid. They wanted to watch the kid in the Arena, maybe even win, so they could be fed into the Capitol machine

The outrage was denying them all the future drama they could wring out of that family.

during this quarantine i rewatched the hunger games movies and could you imagine how great they would have been if they had casted actual teenagers and showed the actual impact the hunger games made on them, including an amputated leg, a deaf ear and PTSD??
