Paul has hiked every trail in hatchetfield. He once tried to get emma to go on a hike with him early in their relationship but when he showed up at her place at 5AM (not 5pm like she thought) she nearly ended it right there. Paul spent that day in absolute despair thinking that he ruined things with her but she texted him later and they hung out at a beach instead. He promised to never show up before 10am again- (unless he was sleeping over ;) -emma)

Bill Woodward and Mark Chasity have been in an unspoken feud for several years all because they both brought cinnamon rolls to a church bake sale and it got competitive. They, of course, were polite but would add small comments like, “oh adding orange zest was certainly an interesting choice,” and “wow, i love how large they are! Almost too large! Haha!” For years. Just petty comments.

Black Friday

Tom and Becky are karaoke royalty. It took some time for her to get used to people watching her for the right reasons again, but after tom coaxed her into singing the classic don’t go breaking my heart and receiving a standing ovation, that old cheerleader came right back out. Their most popular request is Lousiana Woman, Mississippi Man by Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty as they really make it their own (tom seems like a country fan, but just the old stuff, everyone groaned at first but then they killed it).

Gary was a nerd his whole life but always managed to hang out with the popular kids and college students. He’d let them copy his homework, praise them endlessly, debase himself if he had to- all to be a part of the “right” crowd. Most of his clients are actually old “friends” that he charges up the ass (and i like to think, even if it doesn’t quite mesh with his personality, that he balances this out by doing a fair amount of pro bono).

Ruth failed her drivers test twice because she’s too aggressive. Richie never tried, preferring to bike (and plans to move to chicago for college so why bother) Petes been able to drive since he was 13 because ted taught him in case he ever needed a designated driver (he was being responsible! What? You want him to drive drunk and hit some poor old woman just trying to cross the street at 3am?)

Detective shapiro (as a classic detective thriller trope) was secretly working on a cold case from chicago when she moved to hatchetfield. Its the one case that haunted her and forced her to seek refuge in a small island town. After the incident with max though, she finally dropped it, accepting that some things could never be explained. [And just for fun, she’s a fervent knitter. Im talking 2 full closets of just blankets ;) ]

Ruth has auditioned for the local theater 6 times, but they have no idea what she sounds like. They let her stand on stage for a minute, hand her a lollipop as they usher her off, and politely say “maybe next time, ruth.”

Richie was on a first name basis with the local comic book shop. When they heard of his murder, they put up a memorial for him with a display of (almost) all the manga he’d bought from them.

23oz Chai - Paul 23 / Ted Spankoffski

- workplace crush but, plot twist, one of them is a clone

- Ted confesses, and Paul 23, even though he's unsure if the real Paul would go along with it, accepts anyway.

- everyone in the office reacts to it in shock, and they are convinced it is an elaborate prank. (Its not)

Cat Sweater - Charlotte / Melissa (Charlissa)

- Melissa supports Charlotte through her rocky marriage. Sapphic feelings ensue!

- They bond over their love of cats!

- Crazy cat lady and her sopping wet cat gf!

Dirty Boy - Mark Chasity / Boy Jerry

- Two repressed religious men grappling with internalized homophobia!

- A lot of gay denial and religious guilt in this one!

- Also, Jerry's nature rubs off on Mark a little. Maybe they go a little off the walls together!

Donnapiro - Donna Daggit/ Detective Shapiro

- They start out disliking each other, Shapiro not liking how Hatchetfield News reports crime and Donna despising Shapiro for getting in the way of their journalism

- Slowly, their competition becomes incredibly homoerotic.

- Enemies to lovers, reporter x detective yuri. Solving crimes and being sapphic!

Fast But Pricey - Barry Swift / Frank Pricely (Priceswift)

- I have little justification for this one but.. ldk, I think they would be fun together.

- Frank is just really lonely, let him have a gay lover.

- Their relationships moves fast. (Barry is in a hurry! And Frank is so alone he doesn't mind.)

Latte Bottay - Zoey Chambers / Emmdroid (Zoemdroid)

- They bond over a dislike of the real Emma!

- Zoey is surprisingly chill with the robot thing.

- This also works pretty well with 23ozChai. Paul 23 gets his work crush, Emmdroid gets her work crush, its a win win! bonus wlw mlm solidarity!

Nibblinda - Nibbly / Linda

- Linda treats Nibbly to fine meats and sweets. In return, Nibbly eats her dad and protects her. Overall, a pretty sweet deal!

- Perhaps, they get a little blood on their hands.

- Linda chews people out (figuratively), and Nibbly bites them (literally)

Plastic Cars - Gerald Monroe / Tom Houston

- Hear me out.. Divorced dads realize they are gay... for each other.

- Tim gets a new dad, instead of a new mom.

- Again, I must stress.. middle aged men in love!

Sheiloway - Sheila Young / Miss Holloway

- This is ooc as fuck but the enemies to lovers calls to me.

- They both get someone to confide to about the struggles of lord shenanigans and near immortality

- wlw witches!

Showstoppers - Henry Hidgens / Pokey

- Theater nerds who will murder at the drop of a hat.

- I mean, Pokey did include Show Stopping Number in Inevitable, so that's a little gay.

- They are both just.. really gay tbh.

Spoiled Cat - Linda Monroe / Charlotte Sweetly (Charlinda)

- I think pairing a mean rich lady with a sweet, but this close to losing it, lady is very fun.

- Tbh, I just think the day Charlotte dates a woman is the day her entire world changes.

- Also, I think Charlotte should be allowed to be a little mean for once. Linda would help her be more assertive.

Tentacle Bastard - Wiggly / Ted Spankoffski

- Wiggly steals his brother's toy, and gets more than he bargained for!

- Wiggly tries to scare Ted with his big scary octopus form. It does not have the intended effect!

- Wiggly keeps trying to terrify Ted, but jokes on him Ted is into that, and that flusters him. However, Ted's unabashed bastard confidence has an unexpected side effect: Wiggly catches feelings

Webworship - Webby / Karen Chasity

- Karen finds a new god(dess) to "worship"!

- Unsatisfied wife summons a goddess for some company, and the goddess doesn't mind!

- A little bit of religious guilt in this one, as Karen goes against her beliefs by beginning to "worship" a new god, but its still mostly wholesome!

Members of the Biden-Harris administration who resigned over the president’s support for Israel against Hamas see Harris’s succession in that light. Lily Call, a former Interior Department staffer and member of the virulently anti-Israel group IfNotNow, expressed hope that Harris might enact an arms embargo on Israel. “I’ve worked for Kamala, and I know she’ll do the right thing,” Call told Politico.

Josh Paul, who resigned as a State Department point man on weapons transfers because Biden insisted on arming our Mideast allies, told Politico that Harris will probably be better (i.e. more evenhanded in her treatment of Israel and Hamas) than Biden. As I explained in December, Paul displays a remarkably aggressive ignorance on all things Middle East, and seems to have been particularly radicalized by his misreading of a story about donkeys in Gaza. This is the other reason for concern: U.S. agencies are apparently littered with a combination of entitled but inexperienced activists and historically illiterate fame-chasers. Things can easily get out of hand without a president who knows how to say “no” to them.

Yesterday on CNN, John King noted that Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro is being considered as a potential running mate for Harris. The fact that Shapiro is Jewish—and not part of the self-hating AsAJew movement—means “there could be some risks in putting him on the ticket.” Progressives have been relying on token anti-Israel Jews willing to publicly renounce the Jewish people. Shapiro does not appear to have the appetite to do so. King is therefore correct.

King is also correct to reject euphemistic word games. Shapiro’s Jewishness would be a target of the progressive base’s ire, even if those voters tried to hide their ignobility by using the word “Zionist” as a proxy for “Jew.”

Episode 13: Route 666

Hey, look! It's the racist truck episode!

Listen, I'm going to be honest here, as a white person the first time I saw this episode I thought "Cool, they killed the racist white dude." But the more times I watch this episode I can't help thinking that this is what happens when white people try to write about black people without actually talking with black people first.

SO this entry is going to be a little different because I'm not up for going through this whole thing.

If you've seen the show, you know the synopsis. Dean's ex calls him when her father is killed in a car accident and she thinks it's due to supernatural causes. More people die suspiciously and we eventually find out it's the ghost of the guy his girlfriend's father and friends killed and buried in his truck coming after the black people (and one white savior dude) who killed him in the first place.

It is...not good.

The only good thing about this episode, IMO, is Cassie, Dean's ex. SO all I'm really going to write about here is Dean, Cassie, and that relationship and how it affects Dean.

We find out that while John and Dean were working a job in Ohio and Cassie was going to college, the two met and, in Dean's words, "went out for a couple of weeks."

Sam is PISSED because if she's calling Dean for help it means he told her the 'secret' (Sam's word) about what they do. Here's Sam's rant:

"You told her. You told her, the secret! Our big family rule number one. We do what we do and we shut up about it. For a year and a half I do nothing but lie to Jessica, and you go out with this chick in Ohio a couple of times and you tell her everything?"

Now part of me thinks Sam is right to at least QUESTION why Dean told Cassie. Especially given the whole 'couple of weeks/times' thing. But in this scene Sam is seriously pissed...and of course he brings it back to Jessica. Which had literally nothing to do with Dean. He could have told Jessica anything he wanted because, remember Sam, he wasn't a hunter anymore.

But actually none of Sam's rant will matter in a few minutes when he pretty much tells Dean, after meeting Cassie, that it's no big deal that he told her.

Anyway.

When Cassie and Dean reunite, Sam is in the background smirking at how obviously taken Dean still is with her. I had to keep reminding myself in this episode that currently Sam is only 22 years-old and college boy or not he still has the brain of an idiot 10-year-old when it comes to certain things...like being a spoiled brat or Dean liking a girl.

But at least Sam is savvy enough to pick up on cues, like Cassie and Dean not being able to look at each other at the same time, and he deduces that, at the very least, back then Dean was in love with Cassie.

At this point Dean only admits to being "a little bit more involved" with Cassie than he initially told Sam. And without words he confirmed that Cassie was the one who did the dumping, not him.

(Which I find fascinating...what was Dean's plan had Cassie not freaked out and dumped him? Was he going to just go visit her every so often? Was he going to bring her with him? Would he have considered quitting hunting for her? We'll never know; and I kind of hate that.)

So a couple of interesting tidbits about Cassie and Dean....he's so comfortable with her, even now, that not only did he tell her what he actually did for work, but here and now, when they discussed how they broke things off, he admits to her face that she hurt him.

WHEN DOES DEAN EVER DO THAT? NEVER. THAT'S WHEN.

Also worth noting that when he admits her breaking up with him hurt him, she apologizes and ten seconds later we get a fairly steamy (for the CW anyway) sex scene. Just be vulnerable, fellas, and someone will schtup you.

I want to point out one other thing before I forget. Dean has a reputation for hooking up with women who the writers want us to think are loose bimbos without brains. But his first true love is a college-educated woman who isn't easily led by bad pickup lines and who had enough self-confidence to dump the boyfriend she thought was either batshit crazy or on his way to breaking up with her.

Which is to say, Dean appreciates women with brains as well as beauty and I hate how the writers often forget that.

SO we get the sex scene which leads to pillow talk about why they broke up resulting in Cassie saying that if you want them to, things usually work out. Sounds like she's back on the Dean train...but then Dean responds:

"You know, I'm still really involved. With my dad's work."

And I want to give him such a pinch. What the hell, Dean? Even if it's true, maybe don't bring up your dad while you're in bed with a woman who is willing to take you as you are, huh?

John is forever an albatross around Dean's neck, man.

One quick random note: When Dean and Cassie have sex, Dean is shirtless but is still wearing the Samulet. Jensen Ackles has said on many occasions that the Samulet was super heavy and I can't imagine it was very comfortable for Dean OR Jensen in that moment.

SO when Sam realized Dean and Cassie got down, what does he do? Does he say, "Good for you? An actual relationship with a good woman?" No. He teases him about it. Because Sam can't read a room.

Another odd thing I noticed. In this episode there are three, THREE scenes where someone brings someone else a cup of tea. Cassie brings Dean and Sam tea when they first sit down to talk. Then she brings Dean a cup when they are at the paper and then Sam brings Cassie's mother a cup when she's about to tell her story.

It doesn't mean anything...I just thought it was interesting and kind of obvious. But that could be because I was ignoring the plot of the show.

Okay I'll say one thing about the plot. When Cassie's mother shares the story of how Cyrus was so jealous of her being with a black man that he started kidnapping black men, then burned down a church with black children in it...and then tells them that her husband killed Cyrus after he tried to kill him...Dean wants to know why they didn't call the cops.

Now, first off, Dean never calls the cops, but that's a different story. Secondly, it really does show the disconnect between the kid raised by the white guy from Kansas and the mixed raced girlfriend of his. I'd like to say that it also served as a reminder to the viewers that in the 1960s things were very different than they are now but it doesn't always feel like they're that different these days.

Before they go try to kill the ghost truck, Sam decides to tell Dean he knows Dean is still in love with Cassie.

Dean's response is: Can we focus?

One little thing about Sam...he figures out how to get rid of the truck (having it go over hallowed ground...okay, whatever)...but tells Dean he thought MAYBE it would work. (It did, but Sam didn't actually know it would.)

When Dean upsettedly asks him what if he was wrong, Sam's answer is a smarmy:

"Honestly that thought hadn't occurred to me."

I mean, what IF he was wrong? Not only would the racist, killer truck still be out there but his brother would be dead. JFC Sam. When are you going to make me like you?

Dean and Cassie have their goodbye which Dean hopes will be "a little less permanent" and once again it's Cassie who has to make the call.

"You know what? I'm a realist. I don't see much hope for us Dean."

Dean says he's seen stranger things happen, they kiss, stare at each other, and Dean and Sam drive off into the sunset. And Cassie?

We never see her or hear about her again.

Which is doubly annoying when the episode ends with Sam asking Dean:

"You meet someone like her, doesn't it makes you wonder if it's worth it? Putting everything else on hold, doing what we do?"

And Dean just smiling, putting on a pair of shades, and settling in for a nap.

Is this the first and/or only time we see Dean in shades?

Just woke up from a dream about a weird nightmare time season 3. Here's a rundown:

Hannah does street racing with some delinquent kids money

Shapiro and Bailey chases them, but they out speeds and out ma maneuver them across the streets

Cut to Paul and Emma I think? With another family chilling in their house. Probably Lex and Ethan, I'm not sure cause it felt like I was in the room.

Shapiro and Bailey shows up in the house to take away Hannah's prize money, then she runs away crying.

Meanwhile Bailey goes outside to a vending machine for a soda.

This next sequel is extremely unclear because it literally flashed around like those 5 second trailers, but I think Hannah or someone else kills Bailey????

Then Hannah is chased around the fruit section in Lakeside Mall.

There is a nigh scene inside a corridor somewhere but I forgot what happened.

It ends with Hannah on the bus, alone. Then is someone else there that might be an antagonist idunno? And Hannah's eyes glows and floats inside the bus for a fight I think?
