sigh. alright. after 2 back to back soul-restoring movies in Cathy Yan and Christina Hodson's Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn and Dev Patel's Monkey Man, i feel like i'm ready for some pain. now seated for Wonder Woman 1984 (2020).

i've never seen it, i have never had any desire to, i heard it was really racist and maybe there's some non-con stuff here, but that's about all i know about it. i literally do not care about this movie, but i'm not going into it trying to hate it obviously, you all know i love art too much to do that. i am bracing for the worst (here's to hoping this is actually at least a movie unlike Suicide Squad (2016)? i can't do another Suicide Squad.) but i thought the first one was at least pretty entertaining and kind of well done (until the ending ruined every good thing about it) so here's to hoping this isn't entirely dogshit. if you're curious about my full thoughts on the first one, just look up Wonder Woman on my blog or like check my letterboxd, link in bio.

alright. so. i'll never be in a better mood than right now for this movie and we need to get it done with so we can actually enjoy ourselves with the next three movies in our DCEU watch so. now seated for Wonder Woman (2017). before we get started, quick disclaimers:

1. Free Palestine. Fuck Gal Gadot. we will be doing what we can to pretend she's not who she is for the duration of this movie watch. it will be hard, but i sat through Gone With The Wind and the movie before this and i can make it through this.

2. i have seen this movie before at home (as you'd know if you've been following me on the DCEU rewatch so far) back in 2017 and i remember enjoying it. i thought it was decent and Chris Pine stole the show (as he usually does in anything he's involved in). haven't seen it since. i look forward to seeing how i feel after this watch when i can now catalogue my thoughts more effectively and am more capable of appreciating and critiquing art. we all saw how much a disaster Suicide Squad (2016) was a few days ago, even though i remembered enjoying the movie. here's to hoping this is at least better than Suicide Squad (2016).

alright, with that out of the way. let's watch Wonder Woman (2017).
