pairing: patroka x gn!reader

summary: you overhear an argument between patroka and akhos, in which patroka reveals how much she cares about you…

“why would you say something like that!?”

patroka's voice echoed through the monoceros, clearly angry. well, not like she wasn't angry about something at all times. but this time, it sounded like more than just some stupid joke from mikhail that made her eyes roll. this time, she was angry.

“patroka, hear me out…”

the other voice was akhos. as you quietly snuck closer, you could see the two of them through the gap in the door. and while you knew you shouldn't listen in on their conversation – or else patroka would be this angry with you – you couldn't help yourself. you wanted to know what had managed to upset her so much.

“don't even think about going there…” patroka quietly warned akhos, shooting a glare at him. “we are not sending y/n on that mission! they're still new and it'd basically be a suicide mission! without backup, they're not making it out of there alive…”

you froze when you heard your name mentioned. patroka was this upset because… she was protecting you?

“i'm not trying to get them killed!” akhos defended his plan. “but they need to step up eventually. if they can't hold their own, then they have no place in torn–”

“say one more thing and i swear to the architect, akhos–”

patroka seemed even more livid now than before. you almost wanted to open the door and step in, but just when you thought about it, patroka headed towards the door instead, causing you to quickly hide behind it.

“you can tell me the new plan tomorrow…” patroka spoke, clearly forcing herself to stay civil. she was likely only leaving because she knew she'd start an even bigger fight otherwise. “…but it better not involve you putting y/n in danger again. otherwise i'll end your life before your foolishness ends theirs.”

I really like the Theory and Praxis quest lines across Xenoblade 2. The party first encounter them as merciless thieves stealing core crystals, who the party oppose on request of the Mor Ardainian military. The party later fight against them at the end of the first quest and Praxis returns to her core crystal, whilst Theory gets away.

The dynamic between Theory and Praxis is interesting as they had grown close over time, enough to consider each other sisters. Praxis loses all her memories after being resummoned by the main party. Theory struggles with the idea of the one she loves forgetting her and instead desires to be bonded with her again.

Theory wants to kill Praxis' driver so she can be sent back to her core crystal then reunited again. In her mind this is the only way she can reunited with her beloved partner again. The way she struggles between her hatred towards her driver, but also the abusive dynamic he has towards her and why she acted the way she did.

Praxis and Theory's old driver was a heartless man who only cared about his own self interest. He abused them both into following into his own desires. When they were together they were able to be fine with this. However, when she lost Praxis, Theory began to feel trapped in this dynamic, her sole desire to make things back to how they used to be.

After struggling to make Praxis remember her, Theory ends up killing her own driver in an attempt to break free from the toxic chains she was binded by. Praxis began to feel attachment to Theory again, even if she doesn't remember her in the way they used to be, she begun to love her on her own terms in her new life.

When Theory was resummoned she forgot Praxis in the same way Praxis forgot her beforehand. Praxis decides to be patient and rekindle the dynamic they used to have. They learn about human dynamics and relationships across their time with their new drivers.

Praxis begins to become attached the idea of a sibling dynamic, it's a way to make her feel human and an individual detached from the way blades weren't ever allowed to be like that. Theory began to feel the same way towards Praxis again over time when she saw Praxis' genuineness.

I love Praxis and Theory as it depicts a close dynamic like the way Akhos and Patroka were. Blades who become attached to a human dynamic in a way to feel like they aren't alone in the world. It's also sad, as it proves Jin's points on the way that blades aren't allowed to have their own culture.

They’re soulmates, who can physically and mentally feel everything they can. They’re a whole other species of human. They can s communicate with each other anywhere in the world and share their memories languages knowledge and skills. They’re built in family!!! They are everything to each other!

Jin, Malos, Mikhail, Akhos, Patroka (& Nia):

Even if a lot of them are underwhelming as characters, their dynamic elevates all of them, and being a villain found family also makes them much more unique imo.

man they did akhos and patroka so dirty in xenoblade 2 like akhos is so cool except he only gets like two good moments throughout the entire game. patroka has it even worse, she doesn’t even get one good moment and has bad voice acting to boot. the two of them are definitely the least plot important members of torna so i get that they’re not gonna get the same time that the rest of them get, but… cmon man they’re so cool, i want more of them

tags: torna member!reader, silly & wholesome fluff, torna is bad at feelings (yeah, all of them--), slowburn romance

as the new member of torna, you would've expected that your biggest struggle would be fitting into a group with an already established dynamic, not choosing who you want to date!

yet as you joined torna, the five members of it soon all had their eyes set on you and it became quite obvious…

the least obvious one of the group was jin, who paid a little more attention to you and whose gaze you kept feeling on you, yet he never made an outright move on you

compared to mikhail, who was the first one to flirt with you! he was all over you the second you joined the team, only for akhos and patroka to scold him and try to chat you up instead

malos, on the other hand, pretended not to be interested in you at first. only when he got you all to himself did he start teasing you and show interest in you!

it's pretty clear to everyone that they have a thing for you and while they never say it out loud, the looks they give one another say more than a thousand words!

neither of them really needs to ‘play fair’ when it comes to you and try not to hurt their teammates feelings, yet they all do show some restraint

they are a found family after all. there is no obligation to one another, but they still care about each other, even if they would deny it if you asked them!

besides, why fight over you, when they can just work together and try to share you? surely you wouldn't mind that, right?
