Bento Confessionals | Fat Gum
Word Count: 3960
Setting: early established relationship; Fat Gum x gn!reader; SFW, short
Content Warning(s): brief hint of assault, hint of objectification
Summary: being in a relationship with a pro-hero is something that happens over time, and as work picks up for Fat Gum following the Shie Hassaikai Incident, you reminisce of your time together, determined to do everything you can to support him.
A/N: just me considering a whole bento confessionals series... 🫣
[not my art, credit goes to the artist!]
Sunlight filtered through the room, glanced pass sheer white curtains that smelled of the breeze that dared to drift through the open window. Its warmth danced across the humble balcony into your small one-bedroom apartment. The distant sound of the hustle and bustle of the day, gentle and unassuming. At one time, the hush tones of the market had been quite the adjustment when you had relocated to Esuha City.
The almost serene atmosphere having given rise to a nameless anxiety, and practically convinced you that there must be something lurking within the shadows. The peaceful abode a stark contrast from the hectic life you had lived in Tokyo, you reminisced as you maneuvered your small section of your loft apartment dedicated to the kitchen. The small number of necessities for life alone cleanly put away, and the trace of chocolate ivy dangling from the top shelf; it was a humble kitchen, one your parents had openly scoffed at, but it was your kitchen. The only other tenant the occasional house plant you had impulsively brought along to make the space feel more inviting, less alone. Their presence warmed the lower white counters nestled against a simple fridge, and wood counter tops, as you adjusted the faucet’s water levels. The slightest hint of chocolate ivy from the plant who had made its home at the top of the highest cabinet tickled your nose as you folded over the daikon, cleansing it from any soil or pest that might have snuck aboard its leaves. Their yellow bright amongst the blanched background, reminding you of the day you had first met him.
Boxes piled on boxes, chairs resting on tables to leave the floor beneath exposed, packaging delicately removed to reveal glassware, you had just moved from Tokyo in nothing short of a fit of rage and humiliation. The mere idea of your employer suggesting you relocate from your hard-earned role as the restaurant’s Sous Chef and abandon any claim of climbing the kitchen hierarchy to be… a mascot? Oh, the rage that had coursed through your trembling body, the curse words you had bellowed in the short man’s face as you fumbled to untie your apron, smacking it into his tacky mustache with all the might you could muster. His muttering of utilizing quirks as his excuse to depose of you, for the good of the health of the business. Stating that your quirk and pretty face made for the perfect opportunity to boost morale and draw in consumers. Oh you had seethed from every pore of your being, your face redder than the tomatoes you had tossed in his face when the word slipped past his thin, rat lips. Mascot. MASCOT. Fought to free yourself of the buttons of your double-breasted jacket, willing to expose yourself to the whole staff—the patisserie had certain caught a glimpse, but whatever it took to rid you of the fine cuisine’s establishment embroidered on your breast. Trampling the material in one final attempt to swing at the executive chef, the saucier having blocked your route, having simple to settle for being hoisted out of the restaurant by the chef de cuisine alongside a few of the waiting staff. When the news broke to your family, things had only grown more turbulent (and provided fuel to your fire) as they struggled to comprehend your refusal of “promotion”. Reminiscent of the days preceding your graduation--- the shades of red your father had turned when you retired your hero license in pursuit of a life of merit. Except, this time had been worse, and left a permanent mark on your already tense relationship. You, unwilling to compromise your beliefs, and your family concerned that you had selected to live life on the difficulty setting. So. You said goodbye. Well, not a permanent goodbye, but, you did welcomed the space and freedom to spread your wings. Waved fair well to the crowded metropolis, packed away all of your belongings in whatever you could find, found a listing online, signed what could have easily been questionable loan opportunities (thank goodness for your older brother’s guidance and generosity), and escaped to the Kansai region of Japan.
The café space was smaller than you had expected, perhaps far too familiar with those provided by the Tokyo experience. With a small eating set up—by obviously you meant a single table with two chairs nestled outside of the loft building, and a few opportunities in doors. The window framing the occupied space in aging stonework. Old dusty lanterns left by the former owner clung to the ceiling, a select few booths with seats that would need replacing, each booth composed of a small intimate screen, and a counter pace with seats close to the kitchens in need of maintenance of their own. The overwhelming amount of work beckoning your attention, and earning a remorseful laugh from your older sibling all the exhaustion of the move running through his mind as he placed the last moving box down on a dusty, wobbly table. [F/N]? You okay?” His eyes wandering the silhouette of your back as you gazed around the location. “H-hey,” he had muttered before wrapping a warm hand on your shoulder. Only to be met with the look of determination flickering in your eyes before a confident smile crawled across his lips. To you, this building all though in desperate need of care, it represented a world of opportunities. A real chance to thrive, and to earn your own place in this world, from your own hands rather than your face, or quirk. “Just promise me, you won’t open a cat café,” he teased before bidding you farewell, home bound to Tokyo, and likely your parents’ restless inquiries, as you rolled up your sleeves and set to work.
The demands of the job hand been more than you had initially expected—your fine dining experience had certainly familiarized you with heaving garbage (at the executive chef’s horror, the notion of a beautiful face wasting away in the recycling, but never before had you been on the ground floor, building a business. The long hours of cleaning and preparing for opening day had claimed most of your senses. On the last day of preparation is when you had met him.
Deep in the final box of your belongings, you had missed the initial ding of the front door opening. So early in the morning, you hadn’t considered yourself at risk of pedestrians wandering in from the sidewalks. He had made his way in, his body tired from the long hours of patrol, and full intending to go home, having pulled an all-nighter, a snack and bed sounded divine, but the distant glow of your business had drawn him in. The cute trees that you had watered beginning to bloom in the weeks of your preparation. The store front hadn’t seen life in some time, and it had been a while since he could see through the windows, something about it the atmosphere seemed comforting and enticed him to push open the front door. “Hello?” He had called out, the giant smile encompassing all of his features, his round shadow drifting into your view. Causing you a shock as you popped up. “Is anyone here?”
“I- Oh, um, we’re n-not open yet!” you sputtered, your wide eyes meeting his own. An uncomfortable smile spreading across your features, before slapping your mouth over it to conceal it. Too late, you thought, practically drowning in the misery of realization. He had seen you. The way his cheeks burned through his black mask despite the way it cupped his cheeks, drawing back pass his forehead. The hood of his costume bright despite the faint light of the morning hours. A giant F followed by a capital G, and what you assumed was an inverted F printed alongside the other letters, his grin evident and rosy.
“Oh, no, no,” he reassured, waving his hands at you. The grin growing steadily, and a cheery disposition forming over him, “I’m sorry. I just wanted to welcome you to Esuha City!” His voice was practically booming, optimistic and bright as the morning sun as he bent forward, bending as well as he could with his round body. “Welcome!” Accidentally plopping into the furniture as he did so, the embarrassment evident in the way he rebounded, his hand on the back of his head as he forced out a laugh. As he ran through the introductions, you rushed to right yourself, quickly concealing your features with a black mask. This was your fault, you thought with a sigh. The rosy complexion and affectionate way he regarded you. You had been so diligent since your arrival to the area, made sure to keep mouth covered despite the inquiries the grannies in the neighborhood had made, and now that you thought about it, they had spoken warmly about the pro-hero that stood before you. The distinct rumbling breaking his rambling introduction, what you had believed to be the result of your quirk, Allure. His direct exposure to your smile, albeit an awkward one had ensnared him, and it would be a few hours before he recovered, drew your attention. “A-Ah, well,” he laughed, “I’ll have to stop by when your open, thank you for your time ma’am.” Surprisingly deft on his foot as he twirled from you, tripping over a table that he hadn’t seen in his peripheral vision. His forehead popping into the grain of the wood, and leaving a noticeable mark as he turned his head at you. Another awkward chuckle, and big smile. One that formed one behind your mask.
“Please, sit,” you instructed. It was the least you could do, you had concluded, and despite his reassurance that he was okay, you had pushed menus into his hands, offering a vague request to fold them before setting to work. Your prep for the day to come had made assembling breakfast effortless for you, and when you placed your well thought out apology meal before him, you could see his smile glow with joy. Because of this quirk, you thought sadly, careful to avoid his eye. You were familiar enough with the pro-hero, Fat Gum, not so much as you were with Endeavor or All Might, but his accomplishments were known to cross newsfeeds from time to time, especially now that you were in Esuha City, he was essentially the pride and joy of the community, and you grasped the base concept of calorie intake in relation to his quirk. His eyes glistening at the spread before him. Mentions of it wasn’t necessary, and sorry for the inconvenience, things like that, that you quickly dismissed, “for folding the menus.” His enthusiastic praise over every dish, tearing at your heart. Was it your quirk, or did he actually enjoy the kabocha miso soup? Did he even like the natto—it was kind of an acquired taste. The takuan, picked daikon as yellow as his shirt bit down quickly, followed after a bite of tamagoyaki, as he hummed over the sizzling mackerel. The growing sense of melancholy ebbing at your belly, as you listened to him fill the air with cheerful chatter.
If only you had known at that time he had in fact, not seen your smile. No, upon entering the Kappa Kitchen, he had only heard your soft hums, a song, one he wasn’t yet familiar with, and when you shyly peeked from behind the counter, he had only seen the filter of morning light reflected in your eyes. Sparkling and dazling in a way he couldn’t quite put his finger on, something warm like hot chocolate, or as comforting as nikujaga on a winter day, or perhaps the allure of takoyaki under festival lanterns. The charm of something familiar and charming sending his heart into a small strum.
The giggle of the memory of his stumbling along the small restaurant formed on your tongue, and shaded your cheeks. He had been so sweet, that you had been convinced that initial reaction had been coerced. As you diligently layered protection over a chicken cutlet. Before skillfully wielding your mallet, reminiscing over the weeks that had followed. Upon the opening of the shop, Kappa Kitchen officially in business, you thankfully had your hands full—and no more mask slips either! The flow of costumers was steady some brought on by curiosity, there were those excited to experience home cooking on the go, and goodness knows that the onslaught of students during lunch and after school hours were enough to fit the utilities. It was in fact, none other than your present-day boyfriend who had shared rave reviews for anyone who would listen, mostly because his stomach was next to his heart, but he did in fact care about the financial wellness of everyone under his car. It was during this time; you would often see him pass the shop on patrol. Some days, he would peek into the window, an evident grin despite the fact that he was in fact, very much visible (to the chiding of the grannies in the neighborhood). A few times, he had successfully blended in with the crowd, taking advantage with your familiarity with only his alias. Other times, he would send a hero in training to retrieve a pick-up order. To the obvious dismay of the chittering older women who frequently stopped by, eager to see how your relationship developed, and the poor intern as well, who would sputter through the interaction, and read a joke off a script Fat Gum had provided. In time, he would slowly level up from casual greetings while you were out shopping to picking up orders himself, to indoor dining, to the daring requests for you to sit across from him at the end of the day’s work as your last customer for the day. It was all puzzling to you… your quirk had never extended pass six hours; why he acted as though he were still enamored was beyond you, but it was on one of those rare nights that he had arrived especially late that you saw a new side of the Pro-Hero.
The light had long since evaded the night, the later hour evident by the absence of by the lack of foot traffic outside. The quiet ticking away of the frog shaped clock giving away the time as you fiddled with the hem of your apron. The little frog motifs adorable despite your low mood. Your brows wrinkled as you hesitantly looked at the packed order before you, too embarrassed to admit that you had assumed your frequent costumer would stop by. You weren’t aware of all the specifics, he had only shared that he would be working with the police, but offered nothing more nor did you dare press for specifics. The information was shared over one of his late nights, and you had grown accustomed to his drop ins, and dare you admit… welcomed them. So much so that before you rested a bento packed with cutesy bear shaped onigiri, chicken katsu, a variety of vegetables you had painstakingly sliced into… hearts. Oh god, your hand met your eyes, shielding you from the carefully wrapped meal. Your cheeks burned, was it from the reality of how deep your emotions had delved over the past few weeks, the fact that you had longed to see his smile at the end of the day, or the fact that you were crushed with disappointment. Biting your lip, and releasing a sigh, you pulled yourself from your seat. Peeling your eyes away from the packed food, you had decided that you would leave it until the morning. Maybe some part of you just didn’t want to deal with it because in some way, having to dispose of it meant having to face your own blooming affections, and the fact that tears threatened to spill down your cheeks. Maybe some part of you, wanted to believe that he was just running late, and would collect the box after you had gone to bed. Whatever the motivation for procrastination, you left it there as well as the door unlocked. Numbly turning off the light in the dining room before dragging yourself to the kitchen to clean up from a day’s work.
That night had been the driving point in your relationship, you mused to yourself as you carefully mixed together the flour and cornstarch. Draining the chicken from the marinade as you thoroughly allowed it resist before beginning to drudge it. Yes, that night had been the true starting point although you didn’t like to think about it.
You were careless, and way too trusting. You had left the door open in the hopes that Fat Gum may stop by, never considering someone else would have taken advantage of the opportunity, and if he hadn’t arrived in time, things could have ended far worse than thrown glasses, a torn mask and a bruised cheek. You had seen a new side of him that night too, well actually two of them. You had been introduced to Toyomitsu Taishiro, a well muscular man with quite the temper on him, and no holds barred against your would-be assailant. His late nights with the police having drained his fat deposits, revealing a man who shared a beautiful, gentle smile the same Fat Gum adorned, one hand pressed to your quickly bruising cheek where the man had slapped. Delicately checking you over, whispering reassuring words as the realization of what had happened flooded through you tears that fell, and crushed you into a hug. His eyes falling on the scatter ingredients of a bento littered across the floor. Little heart shaped carrots scattered around, and the conclusion that he didn’t ever want to see your tears again.
Shortly after, he would treat you to a festival date. Blonde hair that glistened under the festival lanterns, eyes as beautiful as the purest daffodil that wandered the stalls in amazement. The opportunity to indulge in the wide variety of treats, full of wonder and excitement, but what stuck with you was how good it felt for his large hand to be clasped around your own. And how away from prying eyes under the glow of summer fireworks, he had delicately removed your mask. Slowly and tenderly, cautious to be sure he had your consent. The evidence he would withdraw should you show the slightest hint of discomfort. An indescribable heat that burned in his eyes as he slowly slipped the thin fabric pass your nose, exposing your lips to the night air before pressing his forehead against your own. The pounding of your heart as his hand clasped the back of your neck, the tickle of his breathe against your cheek before you daringly tilted your head forward, pressing your lips against his own. The soft hum of content that radiated from him, and how your heart felt as though it had joined with his own.
Because the truth was, your quirk had no affect on those who loved you.
The distinct sizzle of the oil when the chopstick pressed into the pot before quietly adding the breaded chicken cutlet to the frying pan lead you into the next part of your task. Determination captivating you. It had to taste amazing, it needed to be perfect. Among all of the usual demands Taishiro endured, something had happened in the past few days. Something that had set off a wave of fires so to speak, lit up news stations, captivated newsfeeds, and flooded social media sites, and from what had happened the night before, you suspected had involved your pro-hero, personally.
It was late. Very late, but you had known he wasn’t intending to stop by for his usual order. In fact, he had mentioned work had picked up, and he would be busy over the next few days. You had grown accustomed to the vague exchange of information, such was the duties of a hero, and the burden of loving one was yours to bare. At the time, something about it had sat hollow in your stomach. Bubbled quiet doubts, an odd ebbing feeling that had nagged at you over the past few days since your departure. You were used to his long, odd hours. Familiar with absent periods, and even unsightly marring across him from unfortunate scuffles. Didn’t share a moment of doubt over his need to pack on extra calories, of course he did, but it was something about the way he had left you. Pressing his forehead against your own, his amber eyes gazing into your own. Something about the long pause, and deep breath he had contained when he held you. As though he were doing everything within his power to memorize your shape, the way you fit in his arms, the languid fresh scent of miso that hung to your hair. Craved your touch, and hesitated to leave… that wasn’t him. He had always been optimistic, confident that he would return. Always kissed your forehead before, sensually uttering, “I’ll be home soon,” in your ear. But not this time. Forehead pressed against your own, a soft smile as he gazed into your eyes. Instead of his usual farewell, “I love you.”
Something wasn’t right, you knew it. Every fiber of your being planted seeds of anxiety, betrayed your sanity, and had you resting against the bed, a pillow wrapped in his sweeter breast against your beast. Tucked under your chin as you traced the floor, telling yourself to trust him. To believe in him. He would come back. He would, but the shatter of silence of the front door opening about broke you. He had come home, but not all in one piece. Taunt muscles, all of his excess adipose storage burned through. Lesions scattered throughout his frame, and even his uniform in shreds, Taishiro looked exhausted. His body heavy, his eyes obviously full of concern and the shadow of things he would rather you never witness evident before collapsing in your arms. He had shared things with you, things you hadn’t expected. Whispered things about Hassaikai, uttered conditions of his interns through broken speech before exhaustion had finally snubbed him out. Collapsed in a heap in your arms, sound asleep from fatigue that robbed him of his awareness, locked in your arms and weight pressed against you as you ran your fingers through his hair.
What had happened, was slowly but surely becoming known, and you suspected he had done his best to shield you from the situation, afraid of worrying you, but much like the circumstances that lead you to moving to the Kansai region, it did the opposite. It fueled you. Determination had flooded you, and consumed you as you carefully placed each ingredient with intention in the bento. Placing bear shaped onigiri snuggly in the corner, followed by a powerful salad packed with every vitamin, and antioxidants you could google, chicken kaarage decorating the side. A slice of lemon, a sprinkle of katsuobushi, and the addition of fully garnished takoyaki artistically placed in the bento before you closed the container. Laying out a pink flower printed fabric, you paid close attention to centering the lunch box in the center, bringing corners together to knot it securely together. Uttering a protection prayer as you did so, your heart focused on Taishiro. Bidding farewell to the house plants as you locked the door securely behind you, departing on to the street. Destination: Fat Gum Agency. Sure, there were fears, such were the relationship hazards of dating a pro-hero, but more than that was determination and adoration.
You would do everything to support the man you love.

Custom Bakery Boxes: Enhancing Brand Identity and Delightful Experiences
Introduction
In the bustling world of bakeries, where every treat is a work of art, custom bakery boxes emerge as indispensable allies for businesses aiming to make a lasting impression. These boxes not only serve as vessels to transport delectable delights but also as powerful brand ambassadors. From eye-catching designs to sturdy construction, custom bakery boxes play a vital role in elevating brand identity and delivering delightful experiences to customers.
The Significance of Custom Bakery Boxes
Custom bakery boxes are more than just containers; they are reflections of a bakery's craftsmanship, creativity, and commitment to excellence. In an industry where visual appeal is paramount, these boxes serve as the first point of contact between the bakery and its customers. They not only protect baked goods during transit but also communicate the bakery's brand values and personality. A well-designed custom bakery box has the power to captivate customers, drive sales, and foster brand loyalty.
Tailored Packaging Solutions
One of the primary advantages of custom bakery boxes lies in their ability to be tailored to the unique needs and preferences of each bakery. From selecting the perfect size and shape to choosing materials, colors, and finishes, custom bakery boxes offer limitless possibilities for customization. Whether it's a sleek and minimalist design for a modern bakery or a charming and whimsical theme for a boutique patisserie, these boxes can be customized to reflect the essence of the bakery and resonate with its target audience.
Elevating Brand Recognition
Consistent branding is essential for building brand recognition and loyalty. Custom bakery boxes provide an excellent opportunity for bakeries to reinforce their brand identity and messaging. By incorporating logos, colors, and other branding elements into the packaging design, bakeries can create a cohesive brand experience that leaves a lasting impression on customers. This visual consistency helps customers recognize and remember the bakery, leading to increased brand loyalty and repeat business.
Showcasing Quality and Freshness
In the world of baked goods, freshness is key. Custom bakery boxes can be used to convey important information about the products inside, such as ingredients, expiration dates, and storage instructions. By including clear and concise messaging on the packaging, bakeries can assure customers of the quality and freshness of their products. This transparency helps build trust with customers and encourages them to make repeat purchases.
Setting Apart from Competitors
In a crowded market, standing out from the competition is essential for success. Custom bakery boxes offer bakeries a unique opportunity to differentiate themselves and create a memorable brand experience. By investing in innovative packaging designs, unique shapes, and eye-catching graphics, bakeries can capture the attention of customers and leave a lasting impression. This differentiation not only attracts new customers but also fosters loyalty among existing ones.
Sustainability and Eco-Friendly Packaging
With growing concerns about environmental sustainability, many consumers are seeking eco-friendly packaging options. Custom bakery boxes can be made from a variety of sustainable materials, such as recycled paperboard, biodegradable plastics, and compostable materials. By opting for eco-friendly packaging, bakeries can appeal to environmentally conscious consumers and demonstrate their commitment to sustainability. Additionally, sustainable packaging can help reduce waste and minimize the bakery's environmental footprint.
Custom Bakery Boxes: Infusing Creativity and Personality
Beyond their practical function, custom bakery boxes serve as a canvas for bakeries to express their creativity, personality, and story. Whether it's through intricate designs, playful illustrations, or heartfelt messages, custom bakery boxes have the power to engage customers on a deeper level. By telling a compelling story through packaging, bakeries can create memorable experiences that resonate with customers and keep them coming back for more.
Conclusion
Custom bakery boxes are more than just containers; they are powerful brand assets that can elevate the customer experience and drive business success. From enhancing brand recognition to showcasing product quality and freshness, these boxes play a crucial role in shaping the perception of a bakery in the minds of customers. By investing in innovative, sustainable, and personalized packaging solutions, bakeries can create delightful experiences that leave a lasting impression and inspire customer loyalty for years to come.

Affordable Tahiti: Where to Stay, Eat and Play on a Budget
Tahiti and Bora Bora — the names alone conjure up images of crystal-clear waters, overwater bungalows, and an idyllic paradise that seems almost too good to be true. Often regarded as the epitome of luxury and exclusivity, these dream destinations might appear out of reach for the budget-conscious traveller. However, the reality is far more inviting than you might think. With a little ingenuity and planning, affordable Tahiti holidays are not just a pipe dream but a feasible reality.
It’s a common misconception that enjoying the tropical paradise of Tahiti and Bora Bora requires breaking the bank. While it’s true that these locations are popular choices for high-end travellers, that doesn’t mean you can’t experience their breathtaking beauty on a budget. From discounted Tahiti holiday packages to wallet-friendly activities, there are ample opportunities for thrifty exploration.
Don’t let the allure of Bora Bora holidays remain a mere fantasy. Believe it or not, Bora Bora holiday packages tailored to budget travellers do exist. And they offer a slice of this heavenly realm without the hefty price tag. It’s all about knowing where to look, when to book, and how to make the most of what’s available to you.
The Islands of Tahiti — the beautiful sun-soaked islands we all dream about. Light, loose clothes, delightful French patisseries, adrenaline-filled natural experiences, heavenly massages, and world-class dining and accommodation have all made Tahiti a popular destination with a reputation for being expensive. But there are plenty of restaurants, hotels and activities in Tahiti that won’t cost you an arm and a leg nor compromise your experience.
In this blog, we’ll unravel the secrets to experiencing Tahiti and Bora Bora without emptying your savings account. We’ll guide you through affordable options for where to stay, eat, and play, ensuring your tropical dream doesn’t turn into a financial nightmare. So, sit back, relax, and let us show you how to make the most of your next budget-friendly adventure in paradise.
Where to Stay:
You will be able to save some money on accommodation by choosing to stay in one of Tahiti’s outer islands such as Maupiti, Huahine, Raiatea or Tahaa. These islands are still home to the stunning scenery that the Islands of Tahiti are famous for — opaque lagoon waters, white sand beaches and vibrant coral reefs — but because they not as famous as Bora Bora and Mo’orea, they come with a smaller price tag.
Another way to save money on accommodation is to skip the 5-star luxury resort and opt for a guest house style of accommodation instead. Guest houses are great because they are cheaper than the resorts, cleaner than a hostel and usually offer a much more authentic experience. Spacifica Travel work with several guest house accommodation providers in Tahiti and can help you book one to suit your budget and travel requirements.
Where to Eat:
Tahiti is full of 5-star restaurants and fine-dining experiences but for a much more authentic (and affordable) eating option, there are the roulottes. Roulottes (French for ‘caravans’), are food trucks and you’ll find several spots throughout Tahiti where they congregate, including the Papeete Roulottes, located by the Papeete port. The food trucks feature every style of food you could imagine, so whether you feel like traditional Tahitian food, something French or even just a pizza, burger or fries, there will be something there to suit your mood.
Another way to save money on food is to self-cater. If you’re staying somewhere like a guest house or apartment, you will likely have access to kitchen facilities. Head down to the local markets — an experience in itself — and pick up some fresh local produce so that you can prepare some of your own meals.

8.01. SUNGLASSES
Draco loved sunglasses. He thought they might have been the best thing Muggles had ever invented–assuming they were a Muggle invention. He honestly didn’t care enough to do the research to find out, but if he ever met the person who invented them, Draco would shower them with high praise.
He loved that they protected his pale eyes from the sun.
Draco had never been one for being in the sun for too long anyway. His delicate skin would burn like paper to a flame after mere minutes of exposure. He limited his time outside as much as possible, but being a functioning member of society meant seeing the light of day for longer than five minutes at a time.
He loved that a big enough pair and a hat could lend him anonymity.
Though the war had been over for close to five years now and Draco had been acquitted and completed his probation without any offenses, some people would always see him as a Death Eater. He didn’t blame them or get angry or try to persuade them that he’d only been following orders, that he was nowhere near the same person he’d been under his father’s vile thumb. Instead, he made it easier and hid in plain sight.
But what he loved most about sunglasses is that, when he was out in public, he could people watch from behind them without anyone knowing.
On this particular occasion, he’d allowed Pansy to drag him to some outdoor charity event being held on the Quidditch Pitch at Hogwarts. After making the expected rounds and saying the obligatory “Hellos” and “How are yous”, Draco found a nice, shaded corner and parked himself there. He hadn’t been back to school since he’d finished his eighth year. At the time, there’d been many who would have rather seen him dead than graduate. As soon as he’d received his certification, he’d made himself scarce.
Old habits, sometimes, died hard.
Part of what had gotten him into people-watching in the first place was the loneliness and isolation he’d felt. Seeing colleagues meet for a business lunch or a couple out on a date made him feel, in a weird way, connected. Maybe he wasn’t part of the conversation, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t create his own. Draco would often make up backstories and dialogue based on their clothes and the expressions they made when they talked.
Was it creepy? Maybe, but everyone copes differently.
There were a few people he’d become highly invested in. At the coffee shop he frequented, there was a witch who came in every morning at 9AM sharp, like clockwork. She wore a variation of the same suit every day–a blazer buttoned right over her belly button, a matching pencil skirt, with kitten heels–just in different colors. She would order a large black coffee in a to-go cup and then sit at the high-top bar affixed to the front window. Within ten to fifteen minutes of her arrival, someone–as far as Draco had seen, it was always a different person–would enter the shop and approach her. They would talk for a few minutes more; the person would hand her a parcel wrapped in heavy brown paper and then leave.
He imagined the packages she received were manuscripts and that the woman was part of some elusive, underground publishing group. The parcels were always delivered by different carriers, so no one ever figured out what each parcel consisted of, and they were wrapped to protect against bias. He knew that if he, a former Death Eater, tried to tell his side of the story through a memoir, it would’ve probably been thrown in the bin before seeing a publisher’s desk.
Sunday mornings, before going to the market to shop for the week, Draco would stop at a local patisserie for a late breakfast, and every Sunday, for about two months, by the time he arrived, two wizards would be sitting at one of the outside tables, under a large dandelion yellow umbrella about halfway through their meal.
From the outside, they were about as diametrically different as they come. One of them could have been a long-lost Weasley with his thick red hair and smattering of freckles. If he hadn’t been intimately familiar with the whole Weasley clan, he would have offered to make introductions. The other wizard was African American with dreadlocks piled on top of his head and eyes as dark as night. At first glance, anyone might’ve assumed they were friends out catching a bite to eat. Their relaxed postures and the ease of their conversation suggested unspoken affection.
Draco initially pegged them as two old friends who, after years apart, were making up for lost time, but the more he watched, the more he realized their relationship went deeper than that. On one occasion, a gust of wind blew the long tablecloth to the side, and he caught their feet entangled together, big smiles still on their faces. On another, when walking past their table, he saw the redhead pull his fingers back from where they’d been touching the tips of his companions.
That moment had left him with mixed emotions. His heart warmed at the sight of this couple, so completely enamored with each other, sitting in the sun, enjoying a sweet treat and time together, but he hated that they still lived in a world where they didn’t feel comfortable enough to express their love openly. It made him mourn the possibility of ever being able to openly love another man himself.
Though, it wasn’t as if he had many prospects. The only person who knew he was gay was Pansy, and the one person he wanted (and loved to watch the most) was the one person he could never have.
It probably wouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that Draco was obsessed with Harry Potter and had been since before the day they’d met.
The way the wizarding world had so famously and admirably talked about “The Boy Who Lived”, he couldn’t help but think that the boy who had defeated the Dark Lord while only a baby would make an exceptional ally. That was until Harry had snubbed him on their first day outside the Great Hall.
Everything had been all downhill from there. The mocking and the sneers, the fighting and the opposition. He was a Slytherin, and Harry a Gryffindor. There could be no peace, but that was okay with Draco. While it might not have been the attention he wanted from Harry, anything that got those green eyes looking at him was a win in his book.
But the impending war meant things couldn’t remain as simple as antagonizing each other in the corridors. Sides were taken and lines were drawn. Harry went on the run, and as much as he was supposed to hate the other boy and what he stood for, Draco found himself more worried than anything. It was then that Draco began to realize that the animosity he’d felt for Harry might not have been animosity at all. Seeing Harry dead had only confirmed it.
Once the war had ended, Draco hadn’t known what the future would look like for him. In the end, he’d chosen the wrong side, and in the aftermath of the Dark Lord’s terror, there was so much physical and emotional debris to be dealt with. He’d been preparing to be locked away in Azkaban with his parents, but much to his surprise (and delight), Harry had, once again, swooped in and saved the day, which only intensified Draco’s obsession.
To say he stalked Harry would not have been a false claim. During his house arrest, he read any and every article he could get his hands on that mentioned him. When they returned for their eighth year, Draco may have been happier than most that all eighth years were housed together rather than split back up into houses, and in the years that followed, maybe Draco made it a habit to frequent the same places Harry and his friends did, close enough to see the range of emotions flicker over his beautiful face but far enough away not to be recognized, sunglasses perched high on his nose.
Today’s charity event was no different. His eyes expertly scanned his surroundings until they landed on the former boy wonder. His shaggy hair, which usually fell forward into his eyes, was held back from his face with a thin headband. He wore a white short sleeve button-up that hugged the curves of his biceps and navy blue trousers that Draco knew probably made his butt look amazing.
Harry had gotten proper fit over the years, and while Draco would have preferred to be up close and personal, the view from afar was still very nice.
As usual, he was flanked by Ron and Hermione, but Luna floated gracefully beside him, hands waving and eyes wide as spoke, her long blonde hair trailing behind her. They stopped at a booth specializing in tinctures, giving their undivided attention to the witch behind the table.
“You know–”
He jumped. The voice spoke right into his ear. Pansy slid into the chair next to him, a glass of lemonade in her hand.
“You’re not fooling anyone.”
“Excuse me?” he said, not taking his eyes off Harry.
“You”–she fluttered her hand arbitrarily–“sitting here, alone, trying to be all cool and assuming. Your eyes might be covered, but your head is always angled his way. If you’re trying to be discreet, you’re gonna wanna try harder,” she said, taking a long sip of her drink.
He could feel heat rise in his cheeks and knew it had nothing to do with the warm weather.
Turning to look at her, he said, “I was just–”
“What? Pining over Harry frickin Potter?! I know! If the bloody git were more observant, he’d know too! You’re not exactly subtle, Draco.
“When do you think you’ll chalk up the nerve to talk to him?”
He scoffed. “Don’t be ridiculous, Pansy. I couldn’t. I can’t. He’s–he’s him, and I’m me.”
“Brilliant argument, Draco,” Pansy deadpanned. “So brilliant, in fact”–her face quickly morphed into a smirk–“that we should test it. See if you two are still so truly incompatible.”
“What does that–”
Before he could finish asking, Pansy was on her feet, yelling, “Oh, Harry!”
Instinctively, Draco ducked. If he’d thought quick enough, he would have apparated away, but Harry’s eyes turned toward them at the sound of his name.
“Pansy, what in the bloody hell do you think you’re doing?!” he said through clenched teeth.
Ignoring his question, she said, in the fakest saccharine tone, “When you’re finished, would you mind coming over here for a moment? We just need a minute of your time!”
“Pansy!”
Harry turned back to his friend group, assumedly excusing himself, before he started making his way over.
Pansy’s hazel eyes cut to Draco; her ruby red lips turned up in a wicked grin. “Don’t say I never did anything for you, Draco.”
“I’m going to kill you,” he said, looking for an escape route. There was nowhere for him to go that wouldn’t make it blatantly obvious that he was running away.
Harry was about halfway to them.
“Fuck the Killing Curse. I’m going to do it the Muggle way. Slow and excruciatingly painful, removing body parts piece by piece.”
“You’ll thank me later.”
Harry was about ten meters away.
Resigned to his fate, he said just low enough for Pansy to hear, “If this somehow does work out, I’ll make sure to give your corpse a proper burial instead of throwing it in the dumpster where you belong.”
Pansy’s eyes were bright with delight just as Harry approached their table. Draco straightened in his seat, hoping his silk shirt hadn’t wrinkled.
Harry’s eyes bounce back and forth between the two of them. With a nod, he said, “Pansy. Draco. What can I do for ya?”
“Potter!” Pansy said with a bit too much enthusiasm. “How are you? How have you been? Would you care to take a seat?”
Draco began to think of all the ways he was going to make Pansy suffer–ripping each fingernail out one by one, disembowelment, electrocution, and more.
He looked like he wanted to protest, but instead, pulled out the chair across from them, and sat.
“I’m doing well, thanks for asking. How are you?” He faced Draco directly. “And you, Draco? I feel like I haven’t seen you around lately.”
Draco thought Harry’s voice softened when he spoke to him.
“I’m–”
“I’m great! Draco’s great! Everything is great!” Pansy cut him off before he could answer. “I asked you over here because Draco and I were having a little disagreement, and we thought, who better to settle it than Harry Potter himself.”
“Uhh.” He chuckled, scratching the side of his head. The muscles in his arms bulged with the movement. “Okay. What’s the question?”
“Draco, here: hot or not?”
Draco’s mouth dropped wide open. Out of all the reckless things Pansy could have said, that was the last thing he was expecting. She’d always had a tendency to be inconsiderate, but this was taking it a step too far.
“You’re dead. Your body will be unrecognizable by the time I’m done with you.”
“Pish posh.” She waved him away with a dismissive hand. “Let the man answer the question.”
“Harry, you don’t–you don’t have to answer that.” He was more than thankful for this the sunglasses and the shade, barely able to look in Harry’s direction. He hoped his face wasn’t as hot as his body felt because he wanted to melt into the shadows and slither away. “Pansy is just being an arse.”
“That’s what friends are for, right?”
Harry’s tone was jovial, and, of course, he was making light of the situation. What else was he supposed to do when having just been asked if he thought his former foe was hot? It wasn’t like this was anything other than a joke to him. It wasn’t like he’d been waiting for an opening to express his feelings.
“I don’t think I can accurately answer the question, though, without being able to see your full face. Would you mind taking off your glasses, Draco?”
Wordlessly, Draco removed his sunglasses from his face, blinking to let his eyes adjust to the afternoon sun.
Harry’s gaze trailed slowly upward from his feet. Draco tried not to fidget or squirm under his stare, as if his eyes were lightly caressing his skin. Harry took a long look over his torso, biting his lip along the way, causing Draco to, momentarily, forget how to breathe.
When their eyes finally met, a small smile flitted at the corner of Harry’s lips. “Stunning is more like it.”
From that day forward, Draco only wore sunglasses when absolutely necessary.

Time Traveler’s Bug 01
Summary: It was summer when Adrien, an ex-superhero and a widower of three kids, found his wife's unconscious-but-alive body near her grave. How did it happen? What is she doing there? And why does she still have the Ladybug Miraculous?
(or alternatively, Ladybug got hit by an Akuma and transported to the future)
Fatherhood wasn't easy for Adrien.
As a baker, he had to wake up before sunrise to proof his bread - which isn't a problem considering the number of early morning photo shoots he had done when he was young - and to start baking those batches he already prepared a night prior. Once done, he would fill in the display trays with his fresh goodies, check the backroom to double-check the inventory, then wait for his assistants to come in before he could climb upstairs for breakfast.
It was a summer break so he wasn't expecting to see Emma lounging in their dining area.
"Going somewhere with Kara?" he asked as he planted a kiss on his daughter's neatly combed hair.
"With Janice," she corrected with a grunt "And Hanson. I swear I'm just third-wheeling every time we hang out! Worst of all, those two are so oblivious to their own feelings! I'm like, am I living in a coming-of-age slow burn fic?"
He chucked at her gesticulations, then began to pull out some ingredients" You know, when your Maman was around your age, she used to third-wheel your Aunt Alya and - "
"- and Uncle Nino every time they hang out until you came along and it became a double date." she interrupted hotly "Papa, I'm only thirteen years old! I'm nothing like Maman, and I don't - I don't have time on those kinds of stuff!"
The blond turned around then pinched her cheeks lightly with endearment "That's why you're my favorite daughter."
"But I'm your only daughter." she pouted indignantly.
"I know." he winked cheekily "Go get Hugo so I can start making pancakes."
"Oui." Emma drawled, pushing herself away from the table then walked lazily towards her sibling's room. A few minutes later, she emerged with a yawning five-year-old in her arms.
"M'ning, Papa" Hugo greeted groggily as he settled himself on his elevated chair.
"Good morning, my little munchkin." Adrien cooed when his son reached out with a sloppy kiss "Want some pancakes?"
Somehow, that perked him up "I want choco-banana!"
"One order of choco-banana, coming up!" the blond announced happily as he poured in the pancake mixture into the heated pan, then side-eyed his daughter who was fetching the plates "How about you, Em?"
"Probably a choco-banana - "
"Copycat!" Hugo interjected.
"- and a blueberry?"
"Can't say no to my little Princess," Adrien chuckled, tossing some fresh blueberries into the smaller batter.
"Papa! Papa! I want blueberry, too!"
"Now who's the copycat," Emma bopped her little brother's nose much to his chagrin.
"Additional blueberry pancake for the little Prince, coming up!"
Adrien didn't mind indulging their notable increase of appetite. After all, he grew up in a very strict diet, and it was something he didn't want his children to experience.
He was about to flip the last piece when he heard a faint alarm sound coming from the other side of the room.
"Em? Why don't you check Louis and see if he has something to do today?"
"As if you can wake Lou up during an apocalypse." the girl muttered between bites.
Turning the stove off, Adrien approached his eldest son's room, but instead of rapping the door, he yelled dramatically "Oh no! It's ten thirty AM! What am I supposed to do now?"
"Ten thirty AM?!" a panicky voice echoed inside, followed by a loud crash "Oh no! M. Leduc will kill me! I'm late, I'm late, I'm…I'm..."
Adrien didn't hide his snickers when the door swung open, revealing a mop of dark hair with furious green eyes "Papa, you liar! It's just six thirty!"
"Good morning, my sleepy Kitten. Want some pancakes?"
.
.
.
Raising three kids alone wasn't easy for Adrien.
Aside from preventing typical sibling brawls, he had to learn how to give them his undivided attention all at the same time.
"...and that's why Mme. Lavillant chose me to represent the class!"
"That sounds lame, Em," Louis commented, "What do you think, Papa?"
Adrien's fork hovered near his mouth. Huh, what was the topic again?
"Papa, are you listening?"
"Of course, my little Princess. You reported a bully from a different class, and your classmates praised you for your actions, that's why they nominated you as their Class President."
A triumphant huff told him that he guessed it correctly.
"What about this Saturday?" Louis probed.
"What's with Saturday?"
"Papa!"
"Of course, of course, my Kitten! How can we forget your fencing tournament!" Adrien chuckled unabashed when his son pouted indignantly "Papa and Hugo and Emma will gonna be there with a megaphone and a huuuge banner that says 'Excel and Power Pointe!"
"Papa!"
"That's parry-fect, Papa!"
"Em!"
"Don't be a sourpuss, Lou!" Emma replied, wiping her happy tears "It's best to foil your enemy with puns!"
Louis couldn't help but slap his forehead then groaned inwardly when his father and his sister shared a fist bump.
The sound of the doorbell caught everyone's attention.
"I think that's Janice," said Emma as she stood up and kissed Adrien's cheek, followed by Louis who slipped his duffel bag on his shoulder.
"I don't want to be yelled again by M. Leduc," the boy said before his father could ask. "I'll try to be back for the picnic."
"Me too!" Emma added.
"If you say so…" Adrien trailed off when he saw Hugo's mess, then winced when he noticed how his clothes were smothered by milk and maple syrup.
"Gotta go now, Papa!" the two said in unison then looked at the picture frame of Marinette longingly with a smile, "See you later, Maman!"
"Don't forget to buy your Maman her favorite flowers!"
They answered him with a noncommittal hum.
"Those kids..." he shook his head with a wistful sigh, then stared at his wife's beautiful image "They really got your stubborn attitude, you know. And your tardiness."
"Is tardiness bad, Papa?"
"Very bad, Hugo," he replied, eyeing the maple syrup that was about to drip to their carpet "But not as bad as your catastrophe. Why don't you get Rubber Ducky for me so we can take a bath?"
"Oui!"
Hugo immediately hopped from his chair then padded towards the bathroom.
"I don't know about you, Mari, but I know for sure I don't eat like Hugo," he muttered audibly despite knowing that no one will give him a reply.
.
.
.
Being an ex-supermodel and a celebrity wasn't easy for Adrien.
He didn't want to use his fame when he took over Tom and Sabine's Boulangerie Patisserie, but people would still identify him even though he hasn't been in the spotlight for years. His marital status wasn't helpful at rejecting his rabid fans either, in which he, later on, confirmed much to his mortification, that him being a 'Daddy' was more appealing to the public than his 'Eligible Bachelor' status years ago.
He had fired five staffs for incompetence and filed two police blotters of Harassment and Invasion of Privacy before he got Pierre, a laid off pâtissier, and Jules who, at that time, was badly looking for a job. Unlike the others that he interviewed prior, they weren't intimidated by his or his wife's status, so he hired them on the spot.
It was a slow afternoon so Adrien decided to give his assistants a break. He also brought Hugo down to the bakery with a promise of a strawberry tart if he conducts himself properly, in which the young boy agreed, while he manned the cashier.
The interiors were slightly altered compared to what he recalled back when he was in collège, with a bit of woodwork on the display shelves and pieces of furniture that weren't sturdy enough to handle the weight. The aroma of butter and vanilla were still permeating the air just like what he remembered, but with a slight whiff of cocoa coming from the tempered chocolate he was yet to be stored in the fridge.
Tom used to call him his protégé.
When his in-laws were still in Paris, he would handle the front while Sabine does the packaging and Tom on the baking. It was a routine that they find more convenient, though overwhelming at certain times, especially during peak season. But once the rush dwindles down, he would go back to the kitchen to learn more about the Dupain's way of bread.
Or according to his father in law, the whey of bread.
Under his tutelage, he learned more about baking techniques, decorating tips and some recipes that were foreign even to his wife. He was proud of how he barely made mistakes or accidents on his first attempts, and his recreations were always better than his previous students.
And that includes Marinette.
When his wife died and eventually inherited the bakery, he promised Tom and Sabine that he will preserve, as much as possible, all the furniture and fixtures as each piece in the building have sentimental values, but his in-laws only laughed at his mushiness.
"You can sell the bakery if you want," his mother in law told him "Marinette wouldn't mind."
As if Adrien would let go of his wife's beloved home.
"Bonjour! How can I help?" the blond greeted when a lady entered the premise.
"I'd like to get five of your pain au chocolat, a box of macarons," she recited upon reaching the counter, then clicked her tongue as if trying to remember something "And...uh, what's your best seller here?"
He smiled toothily "Aside from our croissants that are very well known in this arrondissement, our chouquettes and petit fours are quite popular too. Our Spinach Quiches are in demand especially for young adults, and our brioche - "
"Uh, are you Adrien Agreste?"
Adrien smiled widely as he tried not to wince or show any signs of discomfort.
"I knew it! I immediately recognized you from my daughter's pull-out magazines! Oh, you have to meet her - she just divorced her second husband so she's pretty much available in the market! She's a very charming lady, and has a pleasing personality…"
This is the main reason why I preferred to stay behind the ovens, the blond sighed dismally as he bagged her orders.
"You're an invalid?!"
He barely listened to the lady's ramblings that he almost missed her reference to his condition.
"Got a problem with that, Madame?" he asked, slipping the fifth pain au chocolat into the pastry bag with a tong.
"Well, you can't walk straight," she pointed out bluntly "Can you even bake?"
"Rest assured Madame that all of the bread and confectioneries that you're seeing in this bakery are made by me." he flashed her his best customer service smile then punched her bill "That's €18.35 in total."
"Any special discounts?"
"We don't offer special discounts."
She was mumbling incoherently as she hands in the payment, but before she could accept her purchase, a tug on her sleeve caught her attention.
"Hey, old bag," said Hugo while sporting his best impassive look "Papa is not an invalid, imbecile."
"Hugo!"
"W-why you…" All the blood in her face has been sucked out as she shrieked, then gave Adrien a deathly glare "This bakery is horrible! Worst customer service ever!"
"But Madame, I'm - "
"I will never, ever, set foot on this atrocious place again and I will rate your business a one-star in Yelp!"
"Madame! I think you forgot your - "
SLAM!
"- pastries."
Adrien winced when the lady stormed outside the door and slammed it shut so hard he thought the glass would shatter on the impact.
After a few beats of silence, he hovered his gaze towards his sheepish son who flinched when their eyes met "Care to explain yourself, Hugo?"
"She called you an invalid," he muttered while worrying his lower lip. "And Maman told me that it's a bad word."
"And you think imbecile isn't?"
Hugo shrugged nonchalantly "Google never said that it's a bad word."
The blond took a sharp intake of breath, then pinched the bridge of his nose with his fingers "Hugo?"
"Oui, Papa?"
"Just...go upstairs and fetch your things, okay? We're leaving now...for the picnic."
"Oui, Papa," was his glum answer.
Adrien waited until his son was gone before he jerked his head towards his two snickering assistants.
"Who among you taught my son how to cuss?!"
"Not me, Boss," said Pierre with a scoff, followed by Jules who simply shook his head "Besides, kids are too smart nowadays."
"You mean, too smart to know how to access blocked sites."
He squeezed his eyes shut much to their amusement "I think I'm having another headache."
.
.
.
Being a widower wasn't easy for Adrien.
His wife has been a constant presence in his life - his first love, his partner in and out of the mask, his best friend...his soulmate.
He couldn't imagine his life without Marinette.
And now that she was gone -
"Papa!" Hugo's annoyed voice broke his reverie "Hurry up or the bus will leave us behind!"
"I'm coming, I'm coming...geez..." he chuckled, picking up their picnic basket "You know that Papa can't walk that fast anymore, remember?"
His youngest might be stubborn, but he was wise enough not to rush ahead like most kids at his age do in public. He was even considerate enough to stay still whenever they travel together, and not even hesitate to say 'excuse me', 'please' and 'thank you' on strangers who helped them along their short journey.
Louis was already waiting for them at their bus stop.
Taking the basket from his father's hand, he explained "M. Leduc allowed me to leave early when I told him about Maman's birthday," then added "Else I will boycott the competition and he'd lose his best fencer."
"You sure have a big ego, Lou."
"Bold of you to assume that I have a big ego," he countered with a sneer "Besides, where do you think I got that gene from?"
Adrien ruffled his eldest son's hair much to his displeasure.
They were about to approach the cemetery gates when they spotted Emma running towards them with a bouquet of pink and red roses.
"I thought I'm going to miss you, guys," she huffed, trying to catch her breath. "You have no idea how many trips I've made just to find Maman's pink roses."
"And here I thought you went to Grasse to buy her flowers."
"Shut up, Lou."
"Hey, hey. Quit fighting, you two," Adrien admonished lightly "We're here to celebrate Maman's birthday, not to hold a wrestling match."
"Oui, Papa."
As the four headed towards their destination, he listened to his kids random banters. Hugo would join in from time to time, sometimes he would ask them about certain words that they were using, and their interactions warmed his heart.
He couldn't help but see his wife's creativity in Emma, her bravery in Louis, and her wits in Hugo. And in their smiles, he could see the woman he knew and loved.
It's as if Marinette never left him alone -
"Papa?"
"Huh?" he blinked, confounded at their curious stares.
"You were spacing out, Papa," Louis added with apprehension "We've been calling your name several times but you're not responding."
"Are you okay, Papa?" asked Hugo.
"Oui, my beloved munchkin," Adrien responded with a smile "I'm - "
Years of superheroing made his instinct reacted towards danger, that he immediately leapt and covered his three children with his body before they could hear the loud crash.
"W - What was that?!" Emma sputtered when the smoke began to disperse.
"I don't know…" her father muttered under his breath, pulling his kids up as he assessed their conditions "Are you three alright?"
They answered him with a nod.
"Okay, now I want you guys to stay here while I - "
"Papa!" Hugo pointed out a spot behind them "There's smoke coming from Maman's!"
"Wha - Louis! Come back here!" Adrien yelled when he saw his son rushed towards the grave, then choked when his daughter hastily followed "Emma! Why you…ugh."
Why are my kids so ridiculously impulsive?
"Didn't I tell you to stay…" he trailed off when the two stopped their tracks, and when he reached them, he immediately noticed a spotted figure sprawling on Marinette's grave.
It has been years since he last seen Ladybug in her pigtails.
She was sporting the same look back when they were collège, with a onesie-styled red tight suit with black spots and a multi-functional yoyo clinging on her side. He recalled how she despised her first costume, and how she was jealous of his because of the pockets.
Now is not the time for reminiscing the past, he scolded himself as he approached the superheroine.
He barely registered the shock that marred on his children's face when he pressed his two fingers on Ladybug's neck, then sighed with great relief when he felt a steady pulse. He tried not to spill any tears when he cradled her gently and examined the scorching marks on her skin.
"Papa?" asked Louis who was also on the verge of tears "Is that...Is that Maman?"
Adrien shook his head, biting his quivering lip to keep his emotions at bay "I'm not sure, Kitten. I'm not so sure…"
But one thing for sure, he thought fervently, that this Ladybug is none other than Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
The girl he later on married and became Marinette Agreste.
