Pathaan 2 Confirmed: Shah Rukh Khan to Start Filming in End of 2024

It’s official: Pathaan 2 Confirmed. Shah Rukh Khan would play Pathaan again in a follow-up, according to a new report. Apparently, the movie will start shooting later this year. According to rumors, Aditya Chopra directly collaborated with his team on the script and is laying the groundwork for larger confrontations in Pathaan 2, which may lead to further espionage flicks under the YRF label.

The second part of the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Pathaan’ seems to be moving at a brisk pace. The spy action film, which starred SRK in the titular role, turned out to be one of the biggest blockbusters of all times. And now with ‘Pathaan 2’, the recent update is that the script of the film is ready for dialogues.

Recently, writer-director Abbas Tyrewala appeared on a podcast with Cyrus Broacha, and spoke about the film. He said, “I believe the script is almost ready for dialogue”. While he was at it, he also expressed hope that he would be offered to write the script of the action film. He also said that currently the shoot of ‘War 2’ is underway.

RECIPE -

1 : John's Character was nothing but Brixton ( Idris Elba ) from Hobbs & Shaw.

2: Deepika was playing Gal Gadot from Fast & Furious 7 & the finger print method.

3. Again the ending in Russian Mountains was a mixture of Kingsmen + F&F7. & the plot of rare disease too.

4. Thumbs Up and Mountain Dew Advt.

a movie with poor script, repetitive stories, cheesy and kiddish lunch lines.

there wasn't a single moment you'll feel attached to the movie. even the death of soldiers was portrayed in a very jocular manner.

if we're making a movie on a mission. why do we have to add stupid love stories with no basis & comical portion with facebook jokes.

it's just the enigma of Shahrukh Khan that is inviting audience. the movie is pure example of stupidity.

Trust me. I'm a Shahrukh Fan & this is one of his worst. Why do we have to show our heroes with super human strength rather than actual humans who can be hurt or get injured.

Why and how my delusional brain has convinced me that Kajol is meant to be a part of #Pathaan2.

⚠️ beware I'm going in with one time watch of Tiger/War/Pathan and basic knowledge of how YRF spy universe operates (considering the fact that shahrukh literally made the universe universe with pathaan, as opposed to Kabir and Tiger running their ops individually before). Also, I have no clue of how a "script" is to be written or pitched. But if this reaches anyone, they have my permission to use and monetize on it.

Background:

1. Last we know, pathaan/tiger/kabir are aware of each other's existence and non of them have died (fingers crossed for tiger 3 to not be the last one in the series.)

2. Pathaan is tasked with finding and training a team of capable officers [important for the plot]

3. Pathaan has an ambiguous past [v.v. important for the plot], all we know is he's orphan, adopted by Afghanis during an op at some of of his life.

4. Pathaan seems to be interested in Rubina and vice versa (romantically? uh um.)

5. These specific lyrics exist. [ It helps me cope. please]

"Tumne Mohabbat Karni Hai, Humne Mohabbat Ki Hai"

6. Post credit scenes is now a thing in Bollywood [would also help the plot]

Assumptions:

1. assuming the officers hired by pathaan would be a team of youngsters, literally to take over after him (shahrukh is 57 and although he loves action, there are 3+ billion people who'd love him to keep bending his knee and spreading his arms without pain for next 57 years.)

2. Pathaan is in his mid to late 40s? like he has had a whole life before asking Nandini to form J.O.C.R.

✨ The plot ✨

Pathaan 2 starts off 6 months-1 year after col. Luthra (Ashutosh Rana) has ordered Pathaan(Shahrukh Khan) to lead JOCR and find a team. He has managed to find a team of 5 misfits, all in their 20s, who refuse to work as a team on field.

Person A, Person B, Person C, Person D and Chirag (Sidharth Malhotra) [it has to be him.]

Pathaan is also working closely with ISS agent Rubina (Deepika Padukone). The flirting is heavy but there are no romantic implications on either end. He's holding back and she doesn't want to get dragged along.

*cue in the montage of Pathaan training with the 5 agents. We can see Pathaan having a soft spot for Chirag | Pathaan & Mubina hanging out*

Scene: Current day, JOCR office. Team has recieved new Intel about an old foe 'Kaafir' (Amir Khan). After being MIA for several years, he's spotted again in southern parts of India. Pathaan's mood changes drastically upon hearing this news and the team can sense, this is somehow personal to him.

The team heads out ill prepared for the encounter. They catch Kafir in the act as he was trafficking some women out of the country. But the team is outnumbered and gets ambushed and is reduced to 4, just Pathaan, Rubina and 2 of the new recruits barely surviving [chirag is one of the survivors].

Kafir escapes once again and they return to the base.

Rubina takes the stock of the situation, after sending the injured agents to infirmary, she drills Pathaan on what had happened, why he froze on the field, when he had a clear shot at kafirs head.

Pathaan was sitting on a bench, his hand on his knees and a blank/lost expression on his face. He looks up at Rubina takes a shaky breath and says,

"She was there."

"Kaun pathaan, kaun thi?"

"Zaara."

[we slide into a flashback - 20 years ago - as pathaan narrates to Rubina, and the audience is introduced to Zaara (Kajol Devgn)]

Zaara is a young 20 something girl from Kashmir. She's the daughter of the local apple picker? Mechanic? who's known around for her bubbly and cheerful attitude (I literally cannot have Kajol doing anything else). The first time pathaan meets her is when he catches her nosing around the army compound, searching for a cricket ball that some local kids had dropped inside.

She's a blabbering mess, as she tries to explain her situation not letting pathaan get a word in. He somehow manages to stop her and gives her the ball he had already found. She accepts the ball and in the haste of throwing it to the kids waiting onto the compound (imagine 4-5 kids hanging onto the tall compound wall), throws it at his bike, breaking the side mirror. (a nod to k3g Anjali). Zaara is hysterical now, blabbering even more but pathaan is completely mesmerized by her, Zara makes a hasty exist before pathaan even manages to get her name.

Later that day when pathaan takes his bike for repair to the local mechanic, he finds a little boy looking at him and running the opposite way alerting a Zaara about his presence. The said zaara peeps from behind the door and it's non other than Kajol herself. Pathaan initiates a conversation with the mechanic (Kajol's father) telling a different and elaborated version of how the girl broke his Mirror on purpose. This leads to and enraged Zaara to come out the door and narrate the actual story, earning an earful from her father. Who demands she apologize to the good soldier. The soldier in question asks for a tour of the apple plantation as a form of apology.

What starts out as a truce, soon develops into friendship and love among Zara and Pathaan.

*cue song/instrumental slowed down romantic version*

But all good things end and soon a tragedy strikes, Kashmir comes under attack of kaafir. Zaara loses her father in the blast, she manages to escape with her younger brother, but is caught by kafirs men before she could reach pathaan. Pathaan is lead to believe he has lost his love. Until today, when he saw the two eyes covering kafir in the gunfire. He'd recognise those eyes anywhere, but they didn't show any signs of recognition for him.

[end of flashback]

We see pathan sitting on the bech with his hands shaking, uneven breaths and teary eyes as he tells Rubina how he saw zaara earlier with kaafirs men. He says,

"Zaara Zinda hai Rubi, woh zinda hai."

"Mujhe usse ek bar milna hi hoga."

Rubina is silent, but it makes sense to her now, why he held back, he'd already been in love, just not her. [THE LYRICS. THE WHOLE OTHER LIFE HE HAD, IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW.] [In the most action/spy movie way ever, losing zaara turned pathaan into the most brutal agent that is out there.]

**** INTERMISSION ****

The news of the failed ambush reaches Luthra, who is furious beyond words and gets into an argument

In his mission to find zaara, pathaan decides to take help from an old buddy Kabir. Kabir had heard all about zara when they were posted in Kashmir together, however he had never met her. He listens to pathaan's earnest plea's and decides to help him find her. Kabir had found out that zara had been working with kafir for years. Pathaan finds it difficult to believe and decides he needs to talk to her. They plan on setting up a meeting.

Meanwhile, under Luthra's command, unbeknownst to Pathaan, an ambush is planned. When Pathaan reaches the location, he tries to talk to Zara alone [*cue* someone with a better understanding of how these dialogues should go]. But they soon realise they're not alone and a fight breaks out. Everyone is occupied with a member opposing team, Kabir and Pathaan kick some ass [*cue* YRF spy universe worth of fight scene]. Rubai and Zara get into a fight with no holds barred. It gets so intense that Zara is injured. Pathaan cannot look at the sight of her injured and interrupts them. Zara's people take the opportunity and carry her away. Pathaan once again misses the chance, and he is fuming internally. He is standing there helpless. Rubai catches a glimpse of Chirag's disturbed and worried face, but let's it go for now. Kabir takes his leave for now.

Post credit scene: Zara blows pathaan a kiss as from the middle of her training session with the recruits, that pathaan pretends to catch and hold close to his heart. Kabir, who was watching the exchange clears his throat and teases Pathaan with an appreciative look on his face. Pathan turns to him and says "Chup kar saale, bhabhi hai teri."

Pathaan (2023) Directed by Siddharth Anand Watched "Pathaan" yesterday at Cinepolis DSL Mall Uppal and had an awesome time! As one can make out from the trailer, the movie pits agent Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan) against rogue agent turned mercenary Jim (John Abraham), who has a plan to attack India. The multiple flashbacks tell you the characters backstories and just when you get the feeling that the script (Shridhar Raghavan) is getting too convoluted, things get tied back together. There's nothing here we haven't seen before, elements from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in more ways than one, a dash of Michael Bay, a bit of Mission: Impossible, James Bond, even a little bit of Lokesh Kanagaraj and Prashant Neel. But it's all mixed well with a fast pace, crowd pleasing elements, very slick production values, a nice music score, so that you'll ignore and forgive the occasional silliness. The movie delivered 100% of what it promised at least for me, especially in terms of action. The action scenes were great, though as I remember, "War" had more effective action (I think that movie was bloodier than this one hence better). But no matter, the screen presence of the two leads were great, the villain's motivation was clearly setup, Deepika was great and I had a grand time despite the flaws. There are some clever meta jokes and references too. I had a huge grin on my face at the end of it all. Bring on more entries in the now labelled YRF Spy Universe! I've added this to my Best of 2023 List, Tier 2. Also, this is the first movie this year for which I'm wearing my t-shirt with my Movies of 2023 artwork (this time though, all the movies I drew are releasing in the first half of the year only, there's nothing beyond July).
