What is Pass box? How it works?
A pass box, also known as a pass-through box or pass-through chamber, is a piece of specialised equipment used in cleanrooms, labs, pharmaceutical facilities, and other regulated settings. Its principal function is to permit the flow of goods or objects between two regions with varying levels of cleanliness while reducing the danger of contamination.
Here's how a pass box typically works:
Design:
A pass box is often a tiny, enclosed compartment with two entrances on either side. These doors are interlocked, which means that neither can be open at the same time. Electronic locks or mechanical interlocks may be used on the doors to ensure that only one door is open at any given moment.
Installation:
Pass boxes are often installed into the walls or barriers that separate the two areas that must be linked. They can be flush-mounted or surface-mounted, depending on the needs of the facility.
Operation:
When an operator wants to move materials or objects from one side of the pass box to the other, they open one door on their side of the pass box. This action causes the interlock mechanism to lock the opposing door, preventing both doors from being open at the same time.
Transfer:
The operator can then move the items into the pass box and close the door on their side. After closing and locking the door, the interlock mechanism releases the door on the opposite side, allowing someone on the other side to access it and recover the contents. This method guarantees that no direct airflow exists between the two environments throughout the transfer, lowering the danger of contamination.
Pass boxes are widely employed in sectors where cleanliness and contamination control are crucial, such as pharmaceutical production, biotechnology, semiconductor manufacturing, and research laboratories. They contribute to the integrity of the cleanroom or controlled environment by lowering the number of times doors are opened and hence the possibility of airborne pollutants entering.

Importance of Laboratory Fume Hoods
Tumblr media
What are Fume Hoods?
Fume hoods are important laboratory equipment or chamber devices that prevent harmful air from spreading outside of the chamber. The use of these hoods depends on the procedures performed within the laboratory space, safety needs, protection of specimens/content, experiment size, and the type of fumes to contain. The term is a name given to devices that work on the same fume containment principle depending on the content in use. Devices like Laminar Fume Hoods, Pass Box, Laminar Air Flow etc. all fall in the same category of laboratory equipments.
Main Uses of Fume Hoods
The most important use of a fume hood is discharging waste present in the air of a laboratory or an area where an experiment using content that emits harmful fumes. In a laboratory setting, tests contain various materials like chemicals, gases, odour, corrosive or flammable items. All these items, in some way, emit fumes that contaminate the air for handlers and personnel present in a lab. In order to prevent pollutants from spreading and protect the operators, these hoods are used in the area near the experiment.
Purpose of Lab Fume Hoods
The purpose of lab fume hoods is to provide a ventilated, safe and comfortable experimental environment for the laboratory. That is to say, laboratory ventilation is to solve the problems of the physical health and labour safety of experimental operators. At this time, the laboratory must have a sufficient number of lab fume hoods to meet the laboratory ventilation, and the supplementary air of the laboratory is provided by the laboratory air conditioning system.
The Role of Lab Fume Hoods
The function of lab fume hoods is to exhaust. According to the experimental products and experimental area of different laboratories, according to the exhaust air volume, different air volumes and different numbers of lab fume hoods are designed to meet the operational needs of the laboratory. Especially in special laboratories such as chemical testing laboratories and chemical laboratories, because the experimental operation process will produce toxic, harmful, flammable, and explosive gases. To prevent the diffusion of these gases, many laboratory construction companies will arrange lab fume hoods around the pollution sources. Obviously, this kind of operation is a routine operation. With the development of science and technology and the continuous upgrading of lab fume hoods, the fume hoods already have the function of experimental operations, which is to transfer the experiments that are usually performed on the test bench to the fume hood for operation. The lab fume hood is more rigorous and ensures harmful gases can be discharged in a centralized manner to protect the safety of experimental operators. Besides, the operation is more convenient and fast, which is also the main function of the laboratory fume hood.
Functions of Lab Fume Hoods
The lab fume hood has a release function, which can concentrate and dilute the harmful and toxic gases generated in the experiment inside the lab fume hood, and then discharge them outside. This is the release function of lab fume hoods. Will the toxic gas released from the fume hood flow back? This involves another function of the fume hood, the non-backflow function. The gas generated by the experiment inside the lab fume hood is generated by the airflow generated by the exhaust fan, and the harmful gas is not reversed from the inside of the fume hood. It is an indoor function. For this non-backflow function, Swastik has a special operation method for the connection between the lab fume hood and the ventilator. The lab fume hood also has another main function – the isolation function, which is reflected in the glass in front of the ventilation that separates the inside and outside of the fume hood. The lab fume hood also has the function of supplementary function and control of wind speed.
In a brief summary, the main functions of the laboratory fume hood are the release function, non-backflow function, isolation function, wind speed control function, and so on.
1. Release function: It should have a mechanism to absorb the harmful gas generated inside the lab fume hood by absorbing the gas outside the hood, diluting it, and then discharging it outside.
2. Non-backflow function: It should have the function of preventing harmful gas from flowing back into the room from the inside of the fume hood by the airflow generated by the exhaust fan inside the fume hood. In order to ensure the realization of this function, it is the best way to connect a fume hood and a ventilator with a single pipe. It cannot be connected with a single pipe, and it is limited to parallel connections in the same room on the same floor. Installed at the end of the pipe (or at the top of the floor).
3. Isolation function: There should be a non-sliding glass window in front of the fume hood to separate the inside and outside of the fume hood.
4. Supplementary function: there should be a channel or alternative device for sucking air from outside the fume hood when discharging harmful gases.
5. Wind speed control function: In order to prevent harmful gases from escaping in the fume hood, a certain suction speed is required.
6. Heat resistance and acid and alkali corrosion resistance: some fume hoods need to be equipped with electric furnaces and some experiments produce a large amount of acid and alkali and other toxic and harmful gases, which are extremely corrosive.

Please, don't pick birds up off the street if you do not have a plan to get them medical care. Hell, just don't. So many people grab birds that are young and simply waiting for mom and dad to come home. It's so easy to be wrong.
And if you don't have a plan to get a seriously ill bird medical treatment by a professional, please know what that means. Do not apply an anthropomorphic lens. Extending the life of a bird that is going to die, no matter what you do, doesn't give it some extra meaning or enrich the memory of the bird or make it poetic or however you might be viewing it with rose-colored glasses.
It's an extension of suffering. It's not beautiful. It's wrong. Don't pick up a bird you are not prepared to deal with paying a vet to euthanize. Or a rehabber, if you're lucky. You HAVE to have access to a humane end for these poor things before you pick them up and drag their pain out another 3 days.
I know people just want to help. I beg you to recognize when that is possible and ethical, in the best interests of the creature you want to help.
This is just a general plea. I see a lot of picked up pigeons and a similarly large quantity of poor decisions surrounding those pickups.
Have a plan, a plan that is RIGHT FOR THE BIRD, or keep moving.
Sometimes decisions aren't easy.

Who wins starstruck or a aroace guy
both of them, because she's also aroace just like me!
Tumblr media
actually while i'm at it, here's the little animation i was working on for pride month but never got around to posting!
Tumblr media
in my self indulgent aroace worldbuilding i like to imagine that labels for orientations and genders are just kind of... not that much of a thing on popstar, because it doesn't matter at all to anyone. nobody has ever cared about stuff like who or how you love, and 90% of them are picking their own pronouns anyway.
that said, it's still nice to have a little self representation here on our primitive earth internet, where this kind of thing very much does need to exist and we deserve to be proud of it!

can u do more about sick okarun? pls i'm sick I need food :ccc
OF COURSE !! if you want anything more specific please feel free to come back and let me know here's just some random ones lol
- He's really used to no one caring when he's sick but Momo is so intuitive to it. She notices right away when he's not acting right, even if it's just a little low-grade fever or his stomach hurts. He feels awful for worrying her with little things like that but he knows he'll upset her by trying to hide it better 😭
- Okarun collapsing in front of Jiji from a fever and Jiji being worried out of his mind because he won't wake up right away, trying to shake him awake and talking to him the whole time 😭 Okarun is so tiny compared to Jiji that carrying him is nothing I love this imagery
- I like the idea of his stomach being sensitive to something (like fizzy drinks for example) but it's something Momo frequently offers to him and he's too much of a sucker to turn it down. He'll drink it even if he knows it'll make his stomach hurt a bunch
- The stress stomachaches are real for him too 😭 the sort of thing where it's worse when he doesn't eat but he thinks eating will make him more nauseous so he doesn't eat lol 😭😭
