Headcanons with the Bad Boys/Ammo Squad (First Time Seeing you/Meeting you):

Rita:

Rafe was out on leave due to an injury he received on a previous case so when false info began to tarnish late Captain Howard reputation. She decided it will be smart to bring in someone to the squad as a temporary until he recovers but as she walks out her office with Lockwood, she had to do a double take.

She wasn’t expecting the temporary to be so cute she thought while walking over to you.

Keeping her growing thoughts to herself she gives a brief greeting while shaking your soft hand before listening to you introduce yourself. Lockwood watches the way Rita keeps a hold on your hand causing him to squeeze her side slightly as he hears you ask a question.

Snapping out of her stupor she releases your hand when she sees your lips stop moving and the hard squeeze on her hip from Lockwood. Moving her eyes to your raised brow she laughs before asking you to repeat yourself, while throwing a small smile at Lockwood.

Giving her partner a brief goodbye she urges you to follow her with a brief wave. Gaze remaining forward so that whenever you talk, she want get distracted by your glossy lips.

Kelly:

Her first time seeing you was a little bit rocky to say the least. It was after hours at the precinct and you as the new person decided to stay behind and do inventory on the squad's weapons.

Forgetting her phone Kelly enters back into the building with agitation but her expression switches to anger when she sees a stranger touching her gun without her permission.

Walking forward she snatched her weapon away from your hands causing you to jump up as you pull your headphones off and give her a what the fuck look. Glaring at you hard she asked who the hell you were, making you tell her your name with the same rude energy she gave you.

Realizing that you where the new person she goes to apologize but you already walking away, braids swinging side to side while you carry everyone's firearms pissed as hell.

Staring hard at your retreating figure she rolls her eyes before walking over to her desk putting her gun in a drawer and grabbing her phone as she makes her way towards the exit.

Dorn:

Not paying attention Dorn was too busy typing away on his tablet causing him to bump into you while walking into the break room. Hearing a person gasp and curse had him quickly looking down to see your white blouse clingy to your chest.

Face screwing up with embarrassment he set his tablet down to lean behind you to grab a few napkins but unbeknownst to him, his tall broad form caged you back against the counter.

As he rambles on and on about his mistake while patting your shirt with napkins; he freezes mid talk when he realized he had his whole body pressed against yours the entire time.

Dropping the napkins on the counter he grabs his tablet muttering multiple apologies before leaving you standing flustered in the break room with a sticky blouse.

Rafe:

He was leaning back against his rolling chair absentmindedly throwing his basketball back and forth when he first saw you. Causing him to sit up with newfound interest while running his eyes down your curvy figure. The whole time Rita was showing you around the precinct he kept his curious gaze on you, specifically two certain areas but his eyes kept traveling back to your face as well.

He watched as you sit across from him sending him a small timid smile before turning your attention towards Rita.

The whole time he didn’t even attempt to act like he was interested in the new case, but with a sharp jab from Dorn he shifts his attention away from you and towards Rita.

After talking about the last few details about the current case she asked if anyone had any questions about you or the case.

Spinning his chair in your direction with a charming smile he asked if you were single making everyone groan.

Mike (1995):

He been having his eyes locked on you ever since the mayor decided to send his assistant to monitor the precinct after the Cuba case and even though he bitched about having your looming figure always around he didn't mind the eye candy he got to see daily.

Also, he couldn’t help but to admire the way your ass filled out the tight pencil skirt you would wear and the way you’ll have the top few buttons on your blouse always unbuttoned.

Giving him the perfect view of your breast whenever you would lean down to grab your drink from the vending machine, leading him to suck in a loud breath before directing his attention else whenever you gaze at him.

Hearing the clicks of your retreating heels against the tiled floor had him quickly looking up to see the way your thick stocking covered legs flex slightly as you walk towards your temporarily office.

Yeah, I gotta hit that he thought before continuing his paperwork and ignoring the way Marcus shift his wide eyes between him and you.

Marcus (1995):

You would catch his attention when he noticed you standing with the other women recruits before a training exercise at the academy, causing him to smile hard as his wondering eyes traveled down your body.

Following the way your hips shifted forward, when you stretched had him drooling as he forces his eyes away when you begin to reach down towards your feet; but peeking back up just in time to catch a small glimpse of the way your bent over full figured looked in shorts.

After watching you take down an arrogant male trainee, he’ll smirk and clap his hands loudly when he sees you come out on top.

Making brief eye contact with you again his smirk turns into a grin, keeping his focus on you walking over to the few females with a little extra sway in your hips. On that very day he mentally made a pack with his present and future self; he was gonna make sure you become and stay his wife.

Armando:

Walking into the precinct handcuffed, he sees a woman sitting at his designated desk but before he could tell you to move. Mike was pulling him away and towards a different desk while jokingly saying he's been 'promoted' during his time away as he removes the cuffs.

Frowning he peered at you noticing your closed off expression and seeing the way you ignore the gazes of the squad as they try to include you in on the case.

What’s her problem Armando begins to ask but stops when he sees the cuff around your left wrist connected to the leg of the drilled in desk in front of you.

Watching the way, you prop your cuffed legs on top of the desk before closing your eyes with a sigh, had him screwing his brows together in confusion at the sight of extra restraints.

Damn, looks like you were working with the squad for the same reasons he is……but what law did you break to have you end up in this position he thought as your hard eyes open to lock with his curious ones.

Juno and Morrie agree to meet for brunch once a year, every year. They each visit Dr Ruiz’s gravesite, as well as young Lenore’s to pay their respects. At some point they each plant a tree in her memory, and another for Lenore - rather than a bouquet. Bill and Jules sometimes join them.

Alessandra’s colleagues fight to complete her work on the heart mesh. On their own time. Takes many years before they can properly move to human trials, but they’re gonna do it right this time. No shortcuts, no illegal activity. Everything above board. They call it the Ruiz pump or something like that. Ali pump?

Morrilla reclaims her maiden name. The Lenore Foundation is keeping her plenty busy, but she wouldn’t have it any other way. She never remarries. In fact, she hardly has time or desire left for any kind of romantic relationship. Lenore was and is her everything. She’s helping so many people and thanks to all the surgeries, she’s looking fucking fabulous doing it.

Juno is recovering quite well. She’s helping so many people. Lord knows she has her rough days but dammit she pulled through. And she’s using all of fuckhead Roddie’s money to help others pull through as well. Thousands. And soon, millions. Even out the plane field. Making up for nearly all the lives lost or ruined by her ex husband’s damn poison tablets. His fucking impressive tally.

Bill begins running his own gym. He emphasizes to his clients to never over exert themselves. Taking care of their bodies is more than diet and exercise. It’s listening to your body and resting when you need to. His new business partner is kind & beautiful. They fall in love, and see and treat each other as equals. He’s no longer just an asset. And no more girls. He is so grateful for that.

Jules starts volunteering at an animal shelter and adopting the ones that are at risk of getting euthanized. Pretty soon the local shelter has to close down so he builds a new one. Makes it a cat cafe. They get more traffic. It’s therapeutic.

They all refer clients and people to each other. They each help make the world a better place.

The Mosley Review: Bad Boys: Ride or Die

There is an important lesson being taught here to filmmakers that step into a franchise they are fans of. Fans of a franchise can be the most devoted and best choice to continue on the franchise, but if they are not in service of the story, the characters or the identity of the franchise, then they aren't the right one to take it on. You cannot come in with your own biases, agendas or what your idea of what the franchise is. True fans of a franchise know this and take that lesson to heart and deliver an outstanding entry and that's what this directing duo has done yet again. The Bad Boys franchise has always been about the classic buddy cop relationship that keeps you engaged in between the amazing action. This franchise has a strong beating heart of love and fun at its core and this film keeps that heart pumping at a hardy pace. The previous film was a welcomed return that had its moments of flare, stylistic action and comedy, but it focused on the story and the humanity of the characters first. That same elegance of storytelling continues in this new entry and it may be a bit more kinetic, sometimes overwhelming, but it still lands strongly in the category of greatness.

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return as our favorite dynamic duo Detective Lieutenant Mike Lowry and Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett and they haven't skipped a beat. The magnetic chemistry between them is what keeps you engaged and I loved that this film once again drives home that brotherly love they have for one another. Like the last film, they both deal with their mortality in a unique way as they are older now. Mike has an unexpected growth in personality and I loved that he isn't as perfect anymore. You see him deal with a personal disorder that he must overcome and it is pretty inspiring the way Will portrays it. Marcus gets a new lease on life and lets go of the whiney tone and actually has more pep in his step. In a sense, Mike and Marcus switched perspectives and role types as Marcus has become the more reckless and Mike has become the more cautious. I loved his spirituality which made for some great moments of comedy where Martin truly shined the brightest. Vanessa Hudgens and Alexander Ludwig return as AMMO teammates Kelly and Dorn and they were both fantastic yet again. They weren't an after thought and they both were a powerhouse in the action and held their own when on screen with Mike and Marcus. Paola Núñez was awesome yet again and now as Captain of the Miami PD, Rita Secada. I loved her strength in the film and her chemistry with Mike and Marcus is still strong. Its a mild spoiler, but I hated the fact that her and Mike didn't end up together. Ioan Gruffudd was good as Adam Lockwood and its always great to see him on screen. Joe Pantoliano is always a welcomed face and seeing him as Captain Howard one last time was heartwarming. Jacob Scipio returns as Mike's son, Armando Aretas and he was just as badass and deadly. I liked the strained avenue that Mike and Armando go down as their father and son relationship is slowly being built. Eric Dane enters the franchise as the new threat and I liked him as James McGrath. He was cunning, quick and brutal and wasn't about world domination. I liked the history behind the character even if his motivation was a bit boring. Dennis Greene returns as Reggie McDonald and he has always been the butt of the joke in the past films since his iconic entrance. I loved that in this film, he finally earns respect and he becomes the MVP of the film in an amazing scene.

Composer Lorne Balfe returns with an absolute knockout of a score. Not only does he have his unique touch of intensity, but he continued to incorporate, modulate and evolve the iconic Bad Boys score and themes by original composer Mark Mancina. It drives me up the wall when composers don't use the iconic themes of a franchise and I loved that Lorne kept it alive and flowing throughout the film in multiple variations. The action in this film was top of the line and felt classical in its practical execution. It was gritty, bloody fun that had me smiling from ear to ear. There is a bridge sequence that leads to the iconic Bad Boys shot, but that scene felt a little disjointed and dizzying in the placement of characters. There is a feeling of finality to the franchise as it sort of gives a loving look back at the past films with fun parallels and role reversals. Directing duo Adil & Bilall truly love Bad Boys and it shows in every inch of the screen from the action, the character development and comedy. They have done a magnificent job in delivering an even better entry than the last and I can't wait to own the 4K Bluray. This is definitely the best action film of the year so far! Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024)

Bad Boys: Ride or Die has several scenes filled with moments of lightning, rapid gunfire, and police strobe lights, almost all of which occur without clear warning. The first two production company logos at the beginning of the film, especially the second one, contain strobe effects.

The camera is always moving in this film. Action scenes are filmed with cameras that move as rapidly as the characters, and using drones that fly through complex maneuvers, high speeds, and at extreme heights.

Flashing Lights: 10/10. Motion Sickness: 10/10.

TRIGGER WARNING: A heart attack and several panic attacks depicted in this film may be very visceral for some viewers. One character suffers a mental health crisis that results in standing precariously on the edge of a tall building. Some people are kidnapped.
