It’s 4 o'clock in the morning and an alarm is blaring. Anakin groans as he reaches over Fox who covers his head with a pillow and Padmé who opens her eyes to squint in disgust at the alarm. A little tug of the force has the comn unit flying into Anakin’s hand.

He glares down at it as he recognizes it as Fox’s. He sighs, running a hand down his face as he nudges Fox. Who reluctantly pulls himself up grabbing the comn with a scowl.

“If it’s the Chancellor again I might have to kill him.” Anakin mutters as he sits up too. Because if it’s an emergency with the Guard that means Anakin’s going to need to be involved. Especially if it’s the Chancellor demanding another middle of the night meeting with Fox.

The last time that had happened, Fox had ended up in the lower level with no memory of how he got there, bleeding from a stab wound. The Chancellor still claims that he has no idea where Fox went after their meeting but something about it had all felt off enough that he refuses to let his husband near the Chancellor alone. Well, any politician alone except for Padmé.

He’s confident that she’ll stab someone before she ever lets them hurt Fox; whether from a comment or something more physical. He huffs at the memory of her standing in front of an on duty Fox, smiling that smile she gets when she wants to chew you up and spit you out.

Fox sighs, face grim as he reads whatever priority message got sent to him. “Trooper S.O.S, Gotta go save them from whoever cornered them.” Reluctantly he swings his legs over Anakin’s, deftly getting over him like Anakin wasn’t in the way in the first place. Anakin takes a chance to grab a handful of his ass only to get swatted and wordless annoyed grumble.

He snorts, following Fox out of bed, but not before he bends down to give Padmé a quick kiss. “Guess our day has started.”

She scowls in irritation. “Make sure to send me the name of whoever is causing trouble.”

Fox chuckles as he shimmies into his blacks, the city light from the windows hitting him just right to let them see him grinning back at them. “Going to cause problem’s again Senator?”

“I have never caused a problem in my life,” Padmé says confidently though it’s cut short with a yawn.

“The campaign has turned out quite well, my friend,” Plo mused.

Wolffe crossed his arms and tilted his head, considering.

“Monnk looks good,” he said thoughtfully; “does our face justice.”

“Thank the ka’ra they didn’t pick Unduli and Gree,” Rex added. “That would’ve been embarrassing.”

“I detest this,” Kit declared, crossing his arms too. “I don’t see why I had to be involved at all.”

“The idea of the campaign is to show Clones and Jedi, working together in harmony to defend the citizens of the Republic,” Plo said, lacing his fingers together and tilting his head. “I think it comes over rather well.”

Rex was pretty sure that the quiver in his tusks meant he was laughing at Kit.

Notes

The sequel to Commander Fox Is Completely Fine, this time centered around Rex and his relationships, with his friends, family, etc. Kit will also feature pretty heavily, for obvious reasons.

This fic will contain explicit sexual content and each chapter is rated accordingly, including community labels. However it won't be the main focus of the fic and I will try to make it avoidable for those of you who don't enjoy that kind of content. I will do trigger warnings in the notes of relevant chapters, and not only for sexual content. Tags will keep updating as the fic progresses.
