Oh boy, they sure do. Dio bites other kids sometimes, so we’ve resorted to having a caretaker with him during playtime. Oddly enough, he acts like an angel around us or when he gets rewarded. For a one year old, he’s pretty mischievous.

Ungalo tends to bite too. We’re trying to break the habit by ignoring his attempts and focusing on the well behaved kids. So far, it’s showing a bit of progress.

my thoughts of what each jojolands character is VAGUELY based on.

Disclaimer to the ppl who get angry at these kinds of posts: I KNOW theyre all their own characters & i think of them as their own characters too. I dont see them as like “giorno, doppio, and hermes” and all. I hate dio, but i LOVE diego. The fact that hes slightly based on dio doesnt make me hate him 🤷 its more like he would be his better cousin LOL. thats how i (and most of us) feel about jodio and usagi too. theyre like giorno and diavolo’s cousins. its very fun to associate them to previously existing characters!

Anyways!:

Jodio = inspired by jolyne and giorno (obvious)

Dragona = partly inspired by hermes and mista

Paco = very slightly inspired by risotto, santana and abbacchio

Usagi = partly inspired by fugo, narancia and diavolo/doppio

my reasonings are:

Dragona: mista: mother-like figure to their stand. ☠️ jobro to giorno (hermes also is a jobro to jolyne). Also that scene of jodio and dragona being silly together reminded me of trish and mista🥺

hermes: no not only bc of her locs 😭 bc of the “big bro” title as well. Ik its silly to base on hair style too, but jodio had a star braid at first (still has a bit of a braid) so i think its kinda intentional on araki’s part.

Paco: santana: bad dad, can manipulate skin, theres a better explanation abt this somewhere 😭

risotto: his design exposing his chest with an X & his foot (nearly) gets cut off lol. also similarish vibes? but hes more similar to abbacchio, trying to act tough, physically strongest of the group but lowkey a softie. Risotto isnt rlly a softie, at least not like abbacchio is.

abbacchio: hates on teens but then is secretly like 🥺🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹 when theyre safe (usagi). And he was aggressive towards usagi in the beginning like was with giorno.

Usagi: narancia: sillay. Paco and Usagi’s dynamic is similar to abbacchio’s and narancia’s. Usagi is 17 and Jodio is 15, Dragona is 18. Just like nara, gio, and mista. ☝️🤓

fugo: similar hair to fugo, anddd BIGGEST NERD OF THE GROUP. thats it. i think usagi is more like narancia if he went to school tbh🥺

doppio/diavolo: stand based on king crimson, also super cute like doppio. also his pony tail reminds me of doppio’s braid (plus the fact that i loved him the moment i saw him (yes, even when he was known as just hotdog man i was like OMG HE LOOKS FUNNY AND CUTEEE I LOVE HIM HAHAH I HOPE HES A MAIN CHARACTER :D while everyone was hating on him. Im his fan since day 0!!!) & the rest of the whole part ive been adoring him. /platonically (if it wasnt obvious im a big fan of doppio)

Also, a lot of ppl who love those characters love the characters theyre based on too.

what a good, even great question! i LOVE jjba. i'm glad i gave it a chance and it ate my soul fully. in a positive way, i think. i like how araki writes everything! i like how he writes his characters, the situations, the stand abilities, the stand's usage, the relationships, the world. themes like destiny, partnerships, again, relations between ppl who's siblings or never ever met until now... i love how you need to think before you decide to use your stand, and you NEED to think how would you use it more effectively for... well, for you not to die from attack of other stand. and oh your stand may be so POWERFUL and you may use it smart enough, but you can still die... even not from other stand user just from some regular person killing you accidentally! "destiny" things, i guess. what a joke! and these stands getting creative and not so "visibly powerful" from part to part AND HOW YOU NEED TO USE STAND THAT MAINLY CAN DRAG SUBJECTS FOR YOUR SURVIVAL AGAINST A HALF-AUTOMATIC CANCER GIVING STAND AND YOU DON'T EVEN SEE AND KNOW STAND USER well, good luck! hope you survive! 🙏

love every part but if i get to choose only 4 it would be jojolion, stone ocean, jojolands, phantom blood. i started with phantom blood (of course!), for me it has that shade cool mood like i'm in that dark mansion and it's just a few hours before it will burn and dio will become a vampire... but for now i can rest a little.

Jackson but is really quite a depressing film to watch. He is “Garfield” – a teacher who survived a vicious knife attack at his previous school in New York, but who is still determined to persevere and so moves to another in Los Angeles. The teenage kids there are a pretty disparate bunch, not really interested in education and certainly not interested in authority. Except, maybe, “Rita” (Karina Arroyave) who wants to succeed despite the pressures from her peers. From the outset, “Garfield” has a challenger in the young “Cesar” (Clifton Collins Jr) and most of the film is spent teeing up the ultimate denouement between the two men, in what is really a rather unfulfilling fashion. Kevin Reynolds provides us here with a pretty savage indictment of an education system that could hardly be more indifferent to the needs of it’s staff or it’s students. Indeed the state of the buildings, the safety of just about everyone and the attitudes of the students seems to be wrapped in a self-perpetuating film of neglect and fear of law suits. Jackson presents us with a measured performance, but his character is a bit sterile. The sub-plot with his fearful colleague “Ellen” (Kelly Rowan) tries to inject a little humanity, but even that cannot penetrate the otherwise dark, gloomy and bleak storyline that may well be based in truth (it was written by a schoolteacher) but makes for a curiously downbeat and unmemorable piece of drama.

La Guitarra Española y el Cajon

¡Bienvenidos a nuestro blog sobre música española y su influencia! En este blog post hablaré sobre los que, en mi opinión, son dos de los instrumentos que mejor representan la cultura e historia española y la historia de Flamenco: la guitarra española y el cajón peruano.

Sin embargo, ahora, el pop latino es la forma más popular de música en español y la guitarra está incluida en este género. Creo que aunque la guitarra tuvo más importancia cultural en los siglos XIX y XX, ahora, es más global y más personas la escuchan. Además, la guitarra española es muy versátil. Generalmente, la gente asocia la guitarra con el jazz y la música clásica, pero la guitarra española ha podido incorporarse en otros géneros. Leyendas del pop como Santana y los Gypsy Kings integraron la guitarra en su música a finales del siglo XX y principios del XXI. Supieron mezclar sonidos pop y latinos en canciones populares como María María de Santana y Bamboleó de Gypsy Kings. Este estilo resonó en todos los audiencias.

El avance de la guitarra es muy interesante. Durante la revolución industrial, hubo muchos cambios en la sociedad. Antes, la guitarra tenía 5 cuerdas y después, tuvo 6 cuerdas. Un artista relevante que utilizó la guitarra española para mejorar la reputación del flamenco fue Paco de Lucía. Dominaba la escena flamenca de los años setenta y mostró la grandeza de la guitarra española en canciones como "Entre dos Aguas" y “Río Ancho” donde mostró sus habilidades e influyó en muchos para escuchar flamenco. El flamenco todavía tenía una mala reputación entre las élites de la sociedad que preferían la música clásica. Lucía pudo romper esa barrera cuando tocó el "Concierto de Aranjuez", que fue la primera orquesta que tuvo un guitarrista como el músico central. En el mundo moderno, la guitarra española se ha convertido en un elemento básico en el mundo de la música latina y se utiliza en muchas canciones populares como Feliz Navidad, Despacito y Vivir mi Vida. 

El segundo instrumento es el cajón, que se inventó en Perú en el siglo XVIII. El cajón tiene una parte importante en la historia de América Latina. Por ejemplo, cuando Castro gobernaba en la Cuba comunista, las personas que protestaban usaban el cajón para llamar la atención de los políticos y otras personas. Una persona influyente que utilizó el cajón no fue otro que Paco de Lucía, el músico que mencioné antes. Lucía escuchó el cajón en una fiesta al principio de la década de 1970 e inmediatamente comenzó a utilizar el instrumento en su música flamenca. Lucía era tan popular que este momento ayudó a dar popularidad mundial al cajón. En mi opinión, Paco de Lucía era la persona perfecta para usar el cajón porque el instrumento no era muy popular fuera del Perú. Su música flamenca fue un gran complemento al sonido del cajón y fue necesaria para el legado del cajón. El cajón es importante en la historia de la música española. Se utiliza en canciones populares como "Entre dos aguas". 

El blog de Michael es sobre artistas latinos y sus actuaciones. Esto es similar con el papel de Paco de Lucía cuando era el principal artista musical de una orquesta cuando sólo usaba una guitarra. Fue una actuación que no se había visto antes y fue nueva, similar a como Bad Bunny y Luis Fonsi se presentaron a Estados Unidos con las actuaciones de las que Michael habla. En conclusión, la guitarra española y el cajón no son sólo instrumentos, sino símbolos de la historia y evolución de la música española. Los dos instrumentos se hicieron famosos porque Paco de Lucía y los dos introdujeron nuevos tipos de música en América Latina que hay global y famosos hoy. ¡Gracias por leer!

El espectáculo de Super Bowl del Shakira y JLo

El dos de febrero del año 2020, Estados Unidos celebró una de nuestras noches favoritas, la Super Bowl. Este evento fue uno de los eventos más vistos con más de 100 millones de personas que observó.

Una de las partes más importantes del SuperBowl es el entretiempo. Durante este receso artistas musicales actúan para la audiencia y la gente que mira en la televisión. Normalmente, el artista es estadounidense y sus canciones están solo en inglés. Sin embargo, en 2020 actuaron Shakira y Jennifer López. Este concierto marcó una nueva era para los artistas de habla hispana en los Estados Unidos. También fue importante ya que Shakira y Jennifer López celebraron su herencia hispana. Además, fueron las primeras latinas en la historia en realizar el espectáculo.

Para iniciar el concierto, Shakira dice "¡Hola Miami!" Además, durante algunas canciones solo hay español. Por ejemplo, para la canción "Me gusta así", Shakira canta con Bad Bunny. Bad Bunny es un artista hispano muy popular. Que canten en español es importante porque la mayoría de las personas que ven el concierto no son hispanohablantes.

Jennifer López también demuestra que está orgullosa de su herencia hispana. Para una de sus canciones lleva una capa que es la bandera de puerto rico con la bandera de estados unidos. Esto es importante porque demuestra que ella no quiere ser conocida sólo como estadounidense. Jennifer López también grita "Latinos" y rápidamente canta "Born in the USA" de Bruce Springsteen. Esto es importante porque ella se está relacionando con todos los hispanos que han nacido en Estados Unidos.

Con toda la celebración de la herencia hispana en este concierto, también hay algunas preguntas que hacer. Una pregunta que tengo es ¿por qué tardó tanto? Shakira y Jennifer López son famosas en Estados Unidos desde hace mucho tiempo y nunca habían estado en un escenario que durante tanto tiempo había sido sólo para "estadounidenses". Sin embargo, aunque esta actuación fue tardía en sus carreras, todavía significó una nueva era en la música hispana. Al incluir artistas españoles más jóvenes como Bad Bunny, se muestra al público que la música hispana se volverá más popular. Y eso es lo que pasó. Desde el año 2020 la música hispana en Estados Unidos ha crecido mucho. Aunque hay muchas razones, esta actuación del super bowl fue importante en la transformación de la música hispana en Estados Unidos.

There are SO many fun and interesting places to visit on excursions here and, even if we’ve been there before, we always find something new to explore.  Today the taxi dropped us off on Montjuic and we walked down through Placa Espanya (Plaza Espana in Castillan).  We walked by crowds of people enjoying the sunshine and at the Magic Fountain there was a man blowing huge bubbles, which floated on the wind and delighted the children, who tried to catch them.  Bruce was famished and wanted a snack so we walked over to Las Arenas shopping Center. 

This building used to be a bullfight ring and I’m so grateful that bullfighting here in Catalunya (Catalonia in Spanish) was outlawed for a while and the arena was converted into a shopping center.  According to Wikipedia:

“Plaza de toros de las Arenas was a bullring in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Over the years it featured numerous musical artists, including Carlos Santana and Paco de Lucia in 1977. It opened on June 29, 1900, and its last bullfight was held on June 19, 1977. The building was reopened in 2011 as a shopping mall named Arenas de Barcelona.

The plaza de Las Arenas opened in 1900. It was mainly used for boxing or free fights. In 1927, when it became the property of rich entrepreneur Pedro Balañá, the Arenas were remodeled into a bullfight arena. During the Civil War, the building was occupied by anti-fascist militias. Bullfights went on during the Franco era. In the 1960s, North-American and European tourism grew around bullfights in Spain. The last fight took place in 1977.

Bob Marley and The Wailers performed on 30 June 1980 in support of their Uprising Tour (European Leg).

In 1989, the first anti-bullfight campaign was led in Catalonia. In 2004, support grew in Barcelona against bullfighting and by 2010, bullfights were voted illegal; however, this law was overturned in 2016.”

We took the outside elevator to the top and had a 360 degree view of the city from the walkway up there.

Then we went inside and searched for a cafe with a croissant.  There was more going on for families than just shopping because on the ground floor they had created what appeared to be ponds with colored lights for the children to play in.  I love the way kids are centered in this culture and everywhere we go families are out enjoying their free time together.
